381  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Multialgo coin ...? on: January 21, 2018, 10:52:08 PM
Thanks for link.

This seems kinda different from what I had in mind. Not sure if understood it correct.

based on this
...
  • Any algorithm can find the next block.
...

I assume you can mine with all algos simultaneously. I was thinking about complete change of algo ( like making fork each few blocks ) ...like: Mining only with sha256 for 2 weeks ... then only with x11 .. etc.

382  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Clicked phising link - quickly help? on: January 21, 2018, 10:28:21 PM
Well Mcafee can't find anything, also scanned my other computer which runs AVG and it also can't find anything. I suppose its safe but I'm paranoid as hell right now. I don't even dare opening MEW or any other exchange website, I keep thinking that my anti-virus must have missed something.

I looked online into phising and supposedly they can also inject some malware/spyware into your browser upon visiting a website, but I suppose my anti-virus would pick it up?

Nothing bad on being paranoid (in some reasonable boundaries).  The problem is the virus is always first and tools to stop and cure it comes later. I just hope you was not unlucky enough to be among first infected.

I didn't calm you much, huh?  Grin
383  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Multialgo coin ...? on: January 21, 2018, 10:17:52 PM
There is quite lot of complains about huge mining farms with ASICs ruining the promising coin communities (recent bitmain A3 vs SIA can be example).

So I'm wondering if it's technicaly feasible to create POW coin which would be switching to random algo (in the way nobody could predict which one will be next) after some time ... let's say few weeks or months.

Thoughts?
384  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Clicked phising link - quickly help? on: January 21, 2018, 08:30:04 PM
Do you use any antivir, antimalware, web shield? To be safe you'd better scan you PC.
Based on my experience most sites use some sort of web miner ( using your CPU to mine coins for admin as long as you keep the site open).

Will you share the url? (do not post is as clickable link)
385  Economy / Gambling / Re: what the most honest casino ,provably fair that accept bitcoin? on: January 21, 2018, 12:20:57 PM
I'll add bitdice, fortunejack and onehash

as of bad feedback I guess you won't find any. Almost every casino has a bad feedback from faucet abusers (guys who spent lot of time abusing faucets, later realizing they can't withdraw their "hard earned" BTCs)
386  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: MASTERNODE???? on: January 21, 2018, 12:34:06 AM
I'm not expert. Just wanted to warn you there is also large investment required (e.g. to run DASH masternode you need to have 1000 DASH  ... 1 million USD ).

so the masternode is actually an investment program for a coin?

but why use so much money?

and when we follow the method or investment it is a benefit that we can get from them.

I am still not clear on this.

I'm not as well.

How about some googling? https://themerkle.com/what-is-a-masternode/
and when I mentioned DASH see also https://www.dash.org/masternodes2/

I guess such high price is to prevent everybody run it and because it can be really profitable. Also it's quite essential for the network. Had it been cheap people would run them for a while, then quit if not satisfied with income ... once you invest this much you are bound to keep it running ( as you have lot of money in it).
Only really interested people (or those with lot of spare funds) will invest into.

389  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Transaction got stuck and I think it'll never get confirmed. on: January 19, 2018, 11:56:42 PM
Yeah, this will most probably never confirm.

Problem is your transaction has to many inputs which makes it more complex. Total sum fee is not relevant. You have to pay attention to "Fee per byte" (your tx has 5.184 sat/B  but should be at least 200 or more sat/B  Grin )

Options what you can do depends on which wallet you have used.

- replace by fee (if your wallet supports it and have it enabled when tx was sent)  ... this will allow you to raise the fee
- child pays for parent (search for more)
- create doublespend transaction ( this is bit complicated and require some knowledge ... I think this option is not for you)
- stop broadcasting the transaction (do not open the wallet for few days. Tx should drop and BTCs will return to sending wallet).

390  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Stratum requested work restart // until mining on: January 19, 2018, 10:06:24 PM
I would say work restart is usual ( everytime a new block is found ). What are you mining with such "huge" hashrate?

EDIT: you'd better move topic to mining section ( if mining BTC ) or altcoin mining section  ... move topic using link at bottom left

391  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Need pointed in the right direction on: January 19, 2018, 09:58:12 PM
OK. Now you have been specific enough.

Let's start from very beginning. This forum is about BTC so I'll focus on this coin (but most altcoins are more or less similar)

About wallets:
- best (but not most convenient) is always use the original client for each coin. Problem is you have to download entire blockchain ( which e.g. in case of BTC is 180 GB at the moment).
- most secure are so called hardware wallets (search for ledger wallet that one supports quite lot of altcoins)
- more convenient are so called spv clients ( for BTC e.g. electrum, mycelium, ....) ... these i suggest you to start with
- most convenient are multicoin walltets (e.g.  coinomi, exodus ...) which supports vast amount of coins but at some security costs.

check this wallet overview https://bitcoin.org/en/choose-your-wallet

About purchasing:
This is a bit tricky. You have to use exchange and there are two basic types.
- exchages that supports fiat (e.g. coinbase)  ... with these you mostly have to verify your identity and are not supporting much coins.
- exchages that does not support fiat (e.g. binance)  ... these supports lot of coins but you cant directly deposit fiat

some major fiat exchanges are bitstamp, kraken, coinbase, cex ...
major non fiat exchanges are bitfinex, bittrex, poloniex, cryptopia ...
(check each for it's fees and minimal deposit/withdrawal amounts)

I suggest you to visit https://coinmarketcap.com/ (search your coin and check market tab for supported exchanges)

To your questions:
Yes, exchanges will hold your coins (no need to have own wallet) ... but be aware exchange could get hacked in which case you most probably lose the coins ... so it's up to you.

Yes, each coin has it's own fee for transfering between wallets. e.g. BTC fee is currently very high and definitely not worth transferring smaller amounts ... better to use e.g. LTC ... it's much quicker and cheaper)

To sum up: I recommend you to purchase LTC (via any fiat exchange) move them to non-fiat exchange and purchase your desired coins.
Alternatively you can visit this section https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=53.0 and try to buy coins from other members.

Hope i did not overwhelmed you again.
392  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: FreeBitco.in - Win free Bitcoins every hour! on: January 19, 2018, 06:44:11 PM
me too , i will try to solve 5 or 10 times a recaptcha to earn 18 satoshi then they are wrong...  Cry

I see I'm not alone bothered with recaptcha.

Must be something wrong on your side. My visit to freebitco usually takes 3 to 5 seconds (haven't been solving anything for ages ... just click the captcha and click the roll button)
393  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Need pointed in the right direction on: January 19, 2018, 06:34:19 PM
Well. I dind't actually understand what exactly you're asking for. Said you know what you are interested in so If you share it with us we might point you directly.

For start here's a good topic about terminology https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=126798.0

Coinbase is good start for beginners. Easy way to purchase BTC (and some other coins) but not so much for trading (if that's what you want). Might also try localbitcoins where you don't need to go through verification process.

Binance was also good choice if you want to start trading or purchase various other coins.

For me most helpful was just lurking around forum and reading other members opinions, questions and answers to them. Learned a lot and still learning.
394  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to send bitcoin Quickly? on: January 19, 2018, 09:49:10 AM
Recently I have sent a amount of bitcoin to a address.Already 3 days have passed didn't arrive. Is there any way to send btc more faster.

Yeah, at current blockchain situation would be probably faster and cheaper to print the private key, put into envelope and send via post office.

All you can do is use function replace-by-fee (if you have it enabled in your wallet) and raise the fee.
395  Economy / Reputation / Re: HitBTC Experience on: January 18, 2018, 06:25:59 PM
Hey everyone,

So I had a bad experience with HitBTC recently and of course I thought I would share it, as all customers who have bad experience love to do.

The thing is, the experience involved a friend of mine who finally decided to get into crypto. We set up his account and mistakenly, he transferred the wrong coins into the wrong wallet. I was told by someone who did the same thing with Binance that Binance automatically put the coins into the correct wallet. However, when emailing about this issue with HitBTC, the response they gave was the following:

It can take up to two months for your deposit to be transferred back to the correct wallet and we will deduct $100 from your balance as a penalty.

Do you think this is a fair solution? I think that it would take them just as long to make the transfer as to write the email and there is no need for a $100 deduction, as they make their money on trading fees. Cry

I would think that an exchange which already has reputation problems would make an effort to win some points on such an issue. Thoughts?

As long as the penalty is stated in ToS theres nothing to discuss. Nobody forced you to deposit.

I'm not saying it's reasonbale. But who knows what they have to do to get those coins back (maybe they have to breach or circumvent some internal regulations, investigate whether you are not lying ... etc.)
Some exanges even seize entire deposit if it's smaller than some given amount.

Again. If you were informed (and accepted ToS) you should not complain.
396  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Official FutureBit Moonlander 2 Driver and Support Thread on: January 17, 2018, 11:23:29 PM
i have one fan that died.. it spins very slowly and makes a horrible rattling noise.. this is the fan that started making noise before i oiled it.

ive since oiled all my fans.. a few of them were completely dry..

i suggest everyone to peel the sticker off and put a drop of oil on the bearing.. let it soak in for a few minutes and run the fan face down for a few.

Be careful.. oil can mix with dust making some sort of paste and block the bearigns completely. Some bearings are designed to run dry (don't know if these are the case).

My Address is here
But is it safe to do this act
Please answer
13MeUjtaH1RLyRWTsf9nuPTiu98yZMJZ1p

Yes, it's absolutely safe to sign a message and publish it (this just proves you have control over the address)

When you lose access to your account you have to provide moderators with proof you are the address owner and you will be asked to sign a message again. (there is no other way how to recover hacked accounts)

So do it now as practice.

Here's mine >> 33fDQThanqN1ZRkGbXSELSnZ27oQiakCYV

Can you sign a message with it? If not then there is no reason to stake it.

Check https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=990345.0 how to sign a message.
399  Economy / Reputation / Re: Could I be safe from negative trust if I lead ANN of a scam project? on: January 17, 2018, 05:28:18 PM

Might be good idea to put in some disclaimer note saying you are not invoved in this project  .... but nobody can say if it saves you from being redtagged.
That's what I tried to do and they told me that no statements of this kind are allowed.
...

What? That sounds fishy. Seems like they want you to be their scapegoat. I would be careful.

EDIT: oh, I read the last paragraph. Good decision you made IMO.

Problem is if you are going to moderate the topic it's obvious you are paid for it (doubt you're doing it for free) aka you can be considered as accomplice.
