Received before 23 hours still nothing confirmed Sad

Try https://pool.viabtc.com/tools/txaccelerator/  or http://confirmtx.com/ or https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2204426.0

blockchains is pretty overloaded at the moment so do not expect conf. any soon (but you might be lucky)
522  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Hello There! on: December 07, 2017, 10:03:05 AM
Great approach IMO. Not greedy (as you are not going all in  ... afterall this is investment as any other bears certain risk ). Good for you.
I have nothing else to say. Welcome among us and wish you good luck.
523  Other / Meta / Re: how can i find an old topic on this forum on: December 07, 2017, 09:06:43 AM
use google specific site search
just put in:
Quote
how can i find an old topic on this forum site:bitcointalk.org
This will search only through this forum (in addition you can specify timeframe ... last day, week, month...)

Above example should point you to this thread.
524  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to start being the escrow for transactions on: December 07, 2017, 08:33:03 AM
Let me give you my opinion. Anytime I see someone asking how to earn trust, become escrow and similar questions a red flag pops up.

But back to topic.
I bet the best (and quickest) way to become escrow is to reveal your identity (provably) ... e.g. meet in person with some trusted members, start visiting conferences etc.  ... simply become a public person (so people can hunt you down when you will try some scam).
Otherwise it think it's long way for you to become trusted and it's not only about amounts but also risks (unused opportunities to scam). Like ... prove you held some other people funds you could run away with but didn't ... big plus for you.
525  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Step by step guide to buying btc for the first time on: December 07, 2017, 08:09:05 AM
I'll recommend you ledger HW wallet. It's cheap and easy to use.

One of the most easiest way to purchase BTC is using coinbase. I don't think there is any detailed quide required. Just install the app, click buy and they will guide you how to proceed.
Maybe just add: when you will be using fiat, you have to count with delay due to KYC & AML regulations and reveal your identity (by uploading ID pic. or even making a selfie while holding your ID ... depends on exchange).
Alternative is to use localbitcoins ... there you can find sellers with same bank or even meet in person and trade for cash. It's much quicker (but be careful and deal only trusted sellers ... those with good feedback)

If you keep bought BTCs in coinbase wallet you can sell them (and buy again) very quickly. But once you transfer them to HW wallet you would need to move them back to exchange for sale ( which costs you additional fees and time). So it's upt to you.
526  Economy / Gambling / Re: What are the best Bitcoin casino sites that also accept altcoins? on: December 07, 2017, 07:27:36 AM
crypto-games and bitdice are my favorites.
527  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is there a rule how many times to post or comment in bitcointalk in a day...??? on: December 07, 2017, 07:10:29 AM
I'm new to the bitcointalk forum. A lot of what I wanted to ask, but on this occasion I wanted to ask. Are there any rules for posting in one day ... ?? because I once had a bitcointalk account but in the block. Is it because I post too often or commented or because there is my other mistake ... ??

Hmm, interesting. Saying you are new to bitcointalk but sentence after saying you had an account already..?  nvm

No limits to number of posts. Just do not make garbage posts and offtopics. ( think I've read we should not post too much in off topic section ... not sure about this).
Just for the record, if you are hunting activity there is no need to make more than 1 post daily (your activity won't rise any faster if you make more posts)
528  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Mining with Microsoft Azure Datacenter on: December 07, 2017, 06:50:41 AM
Hi guys! I just want to ask if Microsoft Azure GPU or CPU is profitable for mining? If it is, can you guys tell me how? Thank you for the guys that will answer my question.  Grin

I mined with them back in 2014, that time it was barely profitable (but free trial so why not). I affraid they implemented some features to prevent people using free trials for mining.
One thing is sure, if it would be profitable it would have been sold out already.
529  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Purchased small amount of bitcoin from coinbase, question regarding arrival of c on: December 07, 2017, 03:32:35 AM
So I purchased $50 bucks worth of bitcoin. I know it's negligible but I just wanted to see how this all works.

It tells me it will arrive in 8 days.

With that being said - will the amount that arrives in 8 days be worth the amount THEN or the amount when I purchased it?

Hi and welcome in this interesting world.

Thats's question. I believe it should be locked to the price at the moment you confirmed the purchase but I'm not 100% sure about.
Haven't you been provided with ratio and amount of BTCs you will receive before the actual trade confirmation?

Just for the record, the delay is most probably caused by the fiat transfer ( confirmations identity with bank etc. ) not on the BTC side.
530  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain looks like they're releasing a 15GH/s DASH miner called the AntMiner D3 on: December 07, 2017, 01:15:43 AM
All warranties exclude physical damage. You need to chase the issue with the carrier. or atleast contact Bitmain outside of warranty claim to see if they can help you. But damn, that thing literally looks like it was run over.
So you think better not to raise a warranty ticket, but ask via normal support ticket for their advice?

thanks.

I also think bitmain will refuse taking care of that.

This is big error on the hosting company side. I bet such damage would have been visible on the box at first sight. To me the second option you mentioned (dropped by hosting worker) is very probable. I would insist on them to take care of.
Would you mind sharing which hosting we are talking about?
531  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Official FutureBit Moonlander 2 Driver and Support Thread on: December 07, 2017, 12:49:05 AM
The fans  on these sticks  may not be  good.

One now shudders making noise  and vibrating the stick.

I pull the two fans and now use external fans  all is well in fact better then when I ran with the little fans  also not as loud.

I can not find it  but someone else  said their fan  became unbalanced and vibrated.

This happens even though  the fan screws are tight and correctly installed,

I have similar issue with fan ( only one of the 3 sticks ordered ).
Time to time starts making really annoying noise ... i also think is's increasing in speed as the noise level is increasing as well (and i can feel unusual vibrations when touch it) but after restarting the miner it's back to normal.
I also tried to tighten/loose the screws but that just change the noise frequency (pitch or what it's called)  Cheesy ... I have quite wide range of fans on hand so will try to find some that fits ... so no big issue.

But have other question.
Wanted to put one of sticks on USB cable and put it between window frames to keep it cold ( i have double windows in my house ) ... miner recognize the stick (green led is on) but won't show any hashrate (just zeros).
Can be the long cable cause of this issue? It's 2 meters long. I tried it with shorter one (1 m) and that works well.

Anyhow, OP you did a great job, thanks for these awesome miniminers.
532  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What am I doing wrong??? on: December 07, 2017, 12:08:44 AM
Yea Thinkpad99.  No way am I going to give up on this, I haven't even started yet.

While having everyone try to talk me out of mining because it's too much work, and takes too long, is somewhat annoying, I realize that they are just trying to help, and it is appreciated.  I like a challenge.

I'm now starting to think about the speculation aspect of cryptocurrency.  For instance, with 21M bitcoin available to posses in the world, and roughly 14.5M already possessed, what is the 1 year future for that coin, and, what will be the next major jumper coin(s).

It really is an interesting venture and I am on the edge of investing in mining on a large scale.  I think that's what people that I talk with online really don't understand, maybe because they are not in it as big as I may go. (10-20 asic rigs along with up to 80 alt mining gpu rigs)

Anyway, thanks to all that have helped so far.  I have much more research to do before I jump but things are looking better each day.

Yea, if you have a capital you can afford to invest (risk) then go for it. Just keep in mind the profits are not guaranteed so do no go all in.
Every new miner is warmly welcomed as this contributes to the decentralization. The only problem is the ASICs are quite expensive toys so not everybody can afford it.
533  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What am I doing wrong??? on: December 06, 2017, 04:49:09 PM
Thanks for your help, I REALLY do appreciate your input.  I can tell you've been around this block (no pun intended) and I value your knowledge.

You're welcome

If I'm reading you right, even though the mining app is associated to the receive code that was generated by the wallet, the mined values, whatever they may be, do not flow to the wallet real time?  They have to be manually, transferred at a cost, in some quantity?
Yes. The receive code is you public addres (you can check balance using any blockchain explorer to see there are no funds yet ... e.g. https://blockchain.info ).
Funds are sent to this address once you reach given threshold ( this is how all the pools works ).
You would have to do real 'solo mining' to receive coins directly to your wallet ... but for such thing you would need multiple Antminers S9s (to have at least some chance to successfully mine a block)

Is that true for all wallets?
Yes, this is same for all.

Are those costs standard across the board?

Yes, every single transaction requires proper fee to be processed (otherwise it will 'stuck' and funds will return to sending address after some time)

I don't understand a fake miner?

This is what I downloaded and am using

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/store/p/bitcoin-miner/9wzdncrdhxb6

This won't work as an evaluator to see if I want to get into this stuff for real?

I already specified the main problem. You need to have ASIC to be able to mine BTC and I don't think the above is good miner at all. I have strong feeling the name 'microsoft miner' is just attempt to get some trustiness using well known brand ( big red flag ) ... I'm pretty sure after months of mining  (when you finaly reach the payout limit) they will not send you anything.

To sum up:
Wanna mine BTC? Purchase ASIC, learn what pools are and how to setup miner.
Wanna mine Altcoins? Purchase some good GPU (some of those listed at whattomine.com )

534  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What am I doing wrong??? on: December 06, 2017, 03:24:12 AM
I think I figured it out.  Let me know if this makes sense.

at 1000 sitoshi, the btc value would be 0.00001 (or there about)

the decimal places on the coinbase wallet only reflect to 0.0000 therefor there isn't enough mined as of yet to reflect in the wallet

sound right?

as for not being worth it......you don't know me very well....
if this works out and I see anything go into that wallet over the course of a month.....I will be INVESTING in between 10 and 20 full throttle mining rigs.  I will be in it for the long haul in multiple alt coins.

I see you don't get it.
What you have mined so far (those 1000 sat.) is not yet in your coinbase wallet ... it's just balance at the pool/miner side  ... (i'm not familiar with microsoft miner but I'm pretty sure this is how it works).
This balance needs to be transfered to your coinbase ... and this transfer will cost you min. 20 000 satoshi.

As of mining rigs ...do not mine BTC with them, you have to mine altcoins (ETH, ZEC, MONA ....  check https://whattomine.com for profitability) or you can use e.g nicehash (which will automatically convert mined altcoins to BTC).
535  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin gold on: December 06, 2017, 03:12:15 AM
SCAM ALERT.  Step 2 on the website is enter your private key from bitcoin wallet .... yeah, I don’t think so.
Yeah, smells scammy indeed. In addition OP is flooding entire forum with this crap (reporting to mods).

@all others use some trusted wallets instead ( e.g as per my guide here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2347158 )

Thanks guys, I almost fell for it, was about to try this and then I read these comments.
PS. Any authentic or official way to claim bitcoin gold announced yet? I am using Electrum wallet.

Check the link above.  I used coinomi without any issues ... but if you have segwit address ( beginning with 3 ) it won't work .... and I have no clue how to get BTG from segwit addresses.
536  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What am I doing wrong??? on: December 06, 2017, 03:06:57 AM
1st DO NOT MINE. It's wasting energy (you'll pay more for electricity than you'll earn) ...  you have to use specific hardware called ASIC (search for Antminer S9 or Avalon 741 .... pretty expensive toy)
2nd there is usually minimal payout limit. 1000 satoshi is not enough to cover the transaction fees   (to successfuly transfer BTC you need to pay at least 20000 satoshi  ... now you see why it's not worth trying )

538  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: is coinomi safe for accessing BTG? on: December 05, 2017, 11:22:25 PM
Yes, this is safe procedure. Just stop using the address after that.
With coinomi you can claim both BCH and BTG ... pay attention to sweep the key to correct wallet.

Which address should I stop using? And why?

Thanks.

The one you will be sweeping. Because after that the private key is compsomised (not so private anymore ) and is much better to not use the address any further.
e.g. there is possible leak due to using hacked device etc.
539  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What's the name of your favorite SLOT? on: December 05, 2017, 07:55:06 PM
I'm not much a slot player but I enjoyed satoshi's secret at bitdice (I like the background music  Cheesy )
540  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: WTF-What the Fork? on: December 05, 2017, 04:25:30 PM
So what happens if folks are not staying up to date on these forks and instead are just holding the coins in a hardware wallet with a long term hold plan...do they miss out on new coins?

They miss the oportunity to sell it asap but they are still valid holders. Sooner or later they realize it and start claiming their coins. For example such people are quite lucky with BCH ( because the price went up significantly ). Myself sold major part of BCH as well as BTG already (dumped 90% of BTG because i do not trust this coin at all).
