381  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why the birth of Bitcoin triggered a revolution in accounting? on: July 13, 2021, 10:53:49 AM
I think Satoshi pulled out a definitely new and ingenuous way of keeping records of a financial history, but I don't think it's that much of a revolution yet. I think there is still so much time to pass before an actual revolution happens. Right now, people and corps are still testing the grounds to see how they can make use of the blockchain tech to make more money or change the way things work around the world. There's imo still a very long way to go before we can consider this truly revolutionary.
382  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why people get merited without op being merit? on: July 12, 2021, 05:57:28 PM
I don't get why some people are so frustrated about not getting merits. The thing is, you get merits if your post is informative and well-researched bringing up a new idea into discussion. If one keeps making threads about gold vs BTC, Musk and stuff like that, they will probably not get merited for it.

But again, I don't get the point of being frustrated over not getting merits. I've been in that position myself of not earning any merit and I only learned what "good posts" means wby myself, the hard way. To be 100% honest, the only time I got frustrated about it was back when I was desperate for sig campaign positions.
383  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Will taxes be imposed on Bitcoin? on: July 12, 2021, 01:25:25 PM
Just because Bitcoin provides a certain level of privacy (although I wish was much stronger) doesn't mean authorities don't know about you and your addresses/txs. An authority which is keen enough on finding more about your digital history might easily find out about your crypto past if you don't take the right steps at the right time.

Also, not declaring those gains means you know and agreed to the possible legal consequences. When you declare your transactions, there is nothing to fear if you declare everything correctly. If you're unsure about your past, get in touch with an expert or it might actually be better not to declare anything at all than declaring an uncertain financial history.
384  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Securing Your Bitcoin with a Dead Man's Switch (In Case of Death) on: July 11, 2021, 08:33:27 PM
The only issue is that this isn't a very reliable way of creating your own dead man's switch. I mean, I for example have lots of e-mail addresses I use. In time, I might completely forget that I created this switch and I might move on to another e-mail account without de-activating the switch. After the inactivity time expires, my message will be spread across the recipients.

Second of all, the message shouldn't contain sensitive information or something crucial needed to access an account! Because maybe the recipient's e-mail will at the time be in the wrong hands, so will your funds. Besides this, there are multiple other flaws. Google may not be even working anymore by the time you will be inactive.
385  Other / Archival / Re: Never invest your money in a trust management on: July 11, 2021, 10:57:09 AM
To be honest, I would have fallen for the API keys scam as well. Congrats on this thread, it's very useful. I never understood the idea of giving my money to a stranger for them to play with it anyway. I don't understand even when people put their bucks in the trust management of some billionaire, because I wouldn't feel safe having some random guy I don't know make the moves they want, whenever they want.

At the end of the day, I think it's still best to make my own choices and decide where money goes by myself. But I'm the kind of person who heavily studies any domain before putting their life savings in it, which is something not many seem to do..
386  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is the statement that Bitcoin is a private digital currency correct? on: July 11, 2021, 10:10:36 AM
They probably meant or wanted to mean that there are two types of digital currencies: created by public institutions or by individuals. This is the only thing that's private with BTC: its creator. Except Satoshi, I don't think we can call anything else "private" when it comes to BTC.
387  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ETH Difficulty Bomb Delayed Again on: July 10, 2021, 10:00:20 PM
The inability of "scaling in time" will imo be easily forgotten once ETH scales. I think scaling is an issue that's present within many of the top blockchains if not all of them (I'm talking about decentralized ones), so why would ETH's failure to scale in time be such a big issue? As soon as it's gonna be considered a good investment again, people will pour money into it.
388  Local / Minerit / Re: cum construiesc un miner on: July 10, 2021, 09:28:16 PM
389  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to do online payment with bitcoin on: July 10, 2021, 09:21:50 PM
When the mempool is clogged up and the markets go wild, try to pay for stuff only in the weekends. My transactions usually get lowest fees on Saturdays, so that is for me the best day to pick if I want low fees and fast transaction confirmations. If you make txs when markets are wild, you might end up paying dozens of bucks which makes no sense imo..
390  Local / Bine ai venit! / Re: salut! on: July 05, 2021, 08:08:31 PM
Salutare!
391  Local / Romānă (Romanian) / Re: Despre securitatea portofelelor hardware on: July 05, 2021, 04:11:23 PM
Poansoanele nu-s prea scumpe.
392  Local / Romānă (Romanian) / Re: KYC banca, justificare fonduri on: July 05, 2021, 08:57:14 AM

Smiley
393  Local / Presa / Re: [2021.06.28] Bitcoinerul Mircea Popescu a murit on: June 30, 2021, 07:14:02 PM

E vorba despre urmatoarea postare de pe Reddit: "Governments Planning a Global Coordinated Attack on Bitcoin from Next Month Onwards [Due Diligence]".

394  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How Quality Can A Newbie's Post Be? on: June 30, 2021, 11:26:33 AM
My definition of quality differs from yours. And you don't have to teach legendary members stuff, you first have to teach yourself. Ask questions, answer others when you have the necessary knowledge to do so and you'll be on the right path. As mk4 said above, it's not necessary to educate others. When an interest is seen in your own attempt to educate yourself, some might reward you.

Just be yourself. Participate in threads and you'll be fine. If you care aboht earning lots of merits, you might find yourself stuck in an endless loop of no rewards.
395  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which Cryptocurrency has best future? on: June 29, 2021, 12:11:50 PM
Besides Bitcoin, probably Monero due to its privacy focused development. Although Bitcoin is no. 1 and will likely remain the same for a long while, I think Monero will soon start to gain advantage in front of any other crypto. As we can all clearly see, authorities are on a run for surveillance and as much control as possible of the world. Therefore, there is a  high chance that people will someday start to feel something missing... their intimacy.

When people will realize everything dictatorial is being done today under the name of "fighting terrorism", they will for the most part start seeking a way out. And considering the strong push of today for a digital currency.. it might actually happen quite sooner than most expect.
Eroarea umana apare fara indoiala in cazul crypto.

397  Local / Romānă (Romanian) / Re: MultiDoge imi arata de cat o adresa on: June 27, 2021, 10:28:24 PM

398  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mircea Popescu died leaving 1 Million BTC behind? on: June 27, 2021, 07:22:29 PM
He was last active in bitcointalk forum back in April 2016 and I see that he has negative feedback with scam accusations, but even Roger Ver posted that he is now dead,
and I am sure he was not a Polish man like that Costa Rican crhoy.com article is saying, but he was actually from Romania.
I do hope he left his private keys to someone, or those Bitcoins are lost forever in ocean with him.
Mircea Popescu is 100% a Romanian name. Source: I'm Romanian myself Cheesy

If he didn't store his keys somewhere, well.. it's a donation to everyone, right?
399  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is bitcoin word more popular than the words CEO and CTO? on: June 27, 2021, 03:36:19 PM
How does this comparison even make sense? Cheesy Bitcoin is a currency, CEO is a position. Even if "CEO" has been searched more times on Google than "Bitcoin" recently, it doesn't really mean much. How often do you search for "cashier" really? Not so often, do you? Yet, it's one of the most popular (as in number of spots) jobs in the world..
400  Other / Off-topic / Re: Dead or no ?? What did Q mean ? on: June 27, 2021, 12:05:10 PM
I guess this remains to be seen. If he had this much info available on corrupt members of the government, I highly doubt there was no "dead man switch" he planned in advance. He profited off the crypto market and all, but at the end of the day he definitely isn't/wasn't a stupid man. If anything, these things are ready to be launched into the public I guess.

Anyway... at some time in the future this won't last forever. Before, they could burn libraries and get away with it. Today, internet and tech makes it much harder since replicating information is as easy as copy-pasting.
