481  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Now Paypal allows us to withdraw BTC to third party wallets on: May 27, 2021, 03:14:00 PM
Well, now this neutralizes my earlier fears of PayPal selling fake BTC. But I suppose they're gonna charge fees so high people would rather not take their money off the platform..

Anyway, glad to know they at least offer this option - high fees or not, it's much better than selling something you can't claim.
482  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Iran bans Bitcoin too on: May 27, 2021, 12:29:59 PM
Get ready for banning & unbanning waves coming from multiple countries. There are various interests behind these actions, mostly political or economical..

When some countries will ban it, others will welcome it. Anyway, it's not like you immediately cannot use Bitcoin no more. There are lots of people still using Bitcoin undercover with Tor in banned countries. Even where Tor is banned, there are alternatives: Tor through bridges..

Bans will only affect weak hands. We all know governments don't like decentralized assets, and banning is like a targeted attack against us all. I'm going for the long term, because I know they simply can't stop something that is now spread like wildfire around the world. How do you stop all nodes from functioning? You can't, so Bitcoin will never cease to exist. Cheesy
483  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: My cryptocurrency experience on: May 26, 2021, 10:09:51 PM
The market's immature and we are part of a trend that never existed before: memes! And useless hypes.

Once things get settled around the world regarding Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies in general, silly news might not affect markets so much anymore. Perhaps they will affect the small mcaps that are always prone to such risks all the time anyway. What we all can do now is stop giving silly news any kind of attention and they'll all die out naturally. If we keep pushing for trends like memecoins and hypes, newbies will get wrecked over time..
484  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Arguing that a coin with a very low energy usage or "efficient", cannot exist on: May 26, 2021, 06:55:03 PM
Like I said earlier when a nonPoW coin sits on #1, only then will it sink in with bitcoiners how much energy efficiently really matters.  Smiley
Yeah, because it's like those seeking privacy and using dumb phones instead of smartphones. For them, it's the privacy that matters more than any other function today's smartphones have, so they trade new tech for old, more privacy-offering phones instead.

I honestly don't care about the energy that much. There are so many other activities governments do that pollute the environment. This definitely isn't a reason to block the world's fairest currency's supply from being created.
485  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I lost money on the market drop. What should I do? on: May 26, 2021, 01:45:11 PM
Dollar cost average during drops. It's the best thing you can do, but only invest koney you can afford to lose... if you can't afford to lose that money, just don't invest!

Bitcoin is VERY risky. Especially for newbies or emotionally-driven traders.
486  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What the CEO of a Gold mining company has to say about Bitcoin on: May 26, 2021, 12:12:44 PM
~
Let's also not forget about the outer space stuff. These are not easily accessible now, but hasn't a mining rover been sent only recently towards other planets? (might be Mandala effect since I can't seem to find anything about it no more, lol) Like.. NASA is already planning for a future space-mining program..

The supply debate is useless. One is exact, the other is simply unknown. All you need is a few minutes of googling to find out the truth.
487  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Chance of Major Alts creating ATHs in satoshi? on: May 25, 2021, 10:11:48 PM
It's getting harder and harder as time goes by. Ethereum has passed the USD ATH by far, yet it still hasn't been able to surpass the ATH in the BTC parity! Bitcoin seems to still win the most in the long term. It's moving markets (as you can see, anytime Bitcoin drops everything else drops too and vice-versa), it's the top 1 and every time some other coin tries to surpass it, Bitcoin goes wild.

In terms of USD, maybe. But in terms of BTC, only a few will..
488  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: WHAT HAPPENED? I went into the hospital cam out AND.... on: May 25, 2021, 07:46:05 PM
You should've set a limit or something if avoiding losses was your plan. Like dude, you've invested in something that went up by over 60 MILLION TIMES in a timespan of a bit over 10 years. 10% is what you're afraid of? lol, what the hell. investments equal risk. Wake up before ranting about a small loss, this is the investment world..
489  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I don't care what Saylor or Musk say anymore, I'm becoming a BTC individualist! on: May 25, 2021, 08:23:43 AM
And the more attention they're given, the more power they'll have. I understood the meme part of Musk's tweets before, but the memes turned into.. a big mess. Should be a lesson learned for the entire crypto community, and the only ones to be blamed for tbe losses are ourselves for trusting a billionaire who's never shown care for everyone else.

I'm officially an individualist as well from now on. Joined your party. Smiley
490  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What the CEO of a Gold mining company has to say about Bitcoin on: May 24, 2021, 09:22:01 PM
At this point, I'm afraid to give credits to anyone since the happenings with Musk, lol.

As science progresses, it will probably not be a hard job to replicate a certain substance anymore. In fact, scientists are closer than ever before to turn... copper into a gold-like substance. If someone can give copper the properties of gold, just imagine how hard the gold market would drop.

These negative answers could be easily countered. But are we about to revive the gold vs bitcoin debate once again?.. it's been so overly discussed it gets annoying already..
491  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The fungibility of Bitcoin — Long Term on: May 24, 2021, 02:40:15 PM
It might turn into an issue at one point. If everyone's coins are coming from illicit activity at some point in their history, Bitcoin might lose in the long run as it's gonna be used as an argument against it.. because while cash can be easily moved from point A to B without having a proper history of its source, Bitcoin can't do the same..

But yeah, the "criminal activity" argument can be flipped all over to any side and still be viable for the average reader. So even if Bitcoins were fungible, we'd still have a criminal activity argument: "now that it's fungible, look! Nobody knows a thing about illicit txs no more!"

It's a double-edged sword.
492  Other / Archival / Re: The community created a petition: Elon Musk, sell your bitcoin on: May 23, 2021, 08:11:41 AM
This FUCKELON token is so hyped Grin Grin but that's pump and dump.
Isn't Doge and what Musk has done to Bitcoin exactly the same? He is just a P&D generator and he only has the influence he has because we're giving him the attention. Without the attention, he'd have no power.. and if we continue to give him attention.. he'll just continue to do this because why not?
493  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Sextortion - more than 4000 BTC cashed on: May 22, 2021, 09:05:51 PM
When will people realize that it's all fud and BTC will be just fine?
When Bitcoin will hit $100k and everyone will cry out loud about missing the train the millionth time, lol. And then Bitcoin will drop by $20k and it's gonna "die" again.

People should learn to start reading and looking for legit information themselves rather than be fed up with specific information by billionaires who care exactly 0% about us and how poor or rich we are. This is what happens when you're letting the mainstream media and the rich tell you what and how to think Cheesy
494  Economy / Speculation / Re: Preserving Bitcoin price predictions to calm retail during times of FUD on: May 22, 2021, 09:03:58 AM
There are lots of polls around here predicting which price BTC is heading towards or when it would get to another ATH again. But I don't know how useful this "prediction preservation" is tbh.. whenever the market drops, most go into full-on FUD mode and when the market booms the opposite happens. And I think you'd get lots of troll predictions anyway, it might be a better idea to create a poll for this purpose rather than a Google form.
495  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: China’s Crypto Crackdown Shows Governments Are The Enemy Of Bitcoin on: May 21, 2021, 10:19:47 PM
That's one conspiracy theory, but isn't Musk who triggered all these events Roll Eyes
It is, but by triggering these events didn't he just accumulate even more wealth? It's the easiest way China can move so that they can take advantage of the markets themselves rather than letting Musk do his tricks
496  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: how to transfer Ledger BTC to a new ledger wallet (anonymously) on: May 21, 2021, 10:14:37 PM
When your friend received her first Ledger, she wrote down a seed somewhere. Use that on the second Ledger, and there will be no trace. You cannot transfer the Bitcoins from one to another without a transaction, but you can use the same seed multiple times so you can access the same coins from two separate devices/HWs.
497  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: buying crypto currencies and then travelling on: May 21, 2021, 08:59:56 PM
Don't show any sign of crypto ownership on your phones and perhaps sew the privkey into the label of a t-shirt or something. I definitely wouldn't want them to find out that I own crypto, so why not just hide it in plain sight lol.

I'd purchase a new cheap phone and travel across the border with it. If these guys copy data off your phone, at least they won't find out even a word related to crypto inside it.
498  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Next Generation Hardware Wallet on: May 21, 2021, 08:00:08 PM
Fully open-source with a webcam (a cam with a privacy cover, ofc) and a display to work entirely as an airgapped wallet would do. Creating txs and signing them right from the device while never connecting at all to any external device. There are a few devices like this out there, but most of them either don't work with Electrum or they're not fully open-source..
499  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Sextortion - more than 4000 BTC cashed on: May 21, 2021, 07:29:46 PM
Happened before. I remember reading a similar thread 2 years ago. I personally think these e-mails are as real as the "You Just Won A $8 Million Check" ones are.. ignore them. Especially if you know you don't have any nudes on your gallery. And if you do, then you should've taken this possibility into account from the start anyway.

I would not pay $1k for a picture or video of my naked butt not to be posted online, lol. These guys likely purchase personal info databases and send out e-mails containing personal info in order to further intimidate people. But rather than paying the scammer, you could just file a complaint at the nearest police department instead and wait for them to act.. or perhaps an in-bulk notification towards a 3-letter agency may have even better efects against the scammer.
500  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: China’s Crypto Crackdown Shows Governments Are The Enemy Of Bitcoin on: May 21, 2021, 07:10:31 PM
What if this was a plot against USA's Musk? Cheesy China definitely wants to become the world power, and billionaires investing in BTC is a great moment to take a simple action (banning BTC) in order to pull back part of USA's wealth. It's a quite weird of a timing, to be honest.
