The New York Times spoke to 21-year-old Jessica Smith who invested $28,000 in Envion, almost all the money she had made after two years trading cryptocurrency. Smith is now looking for new work, saying this “has been very painful.”

384  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Coinrail Suffers Security Breach, Reportedly Loses $40 Million Worth of Crypto on: June 11, 2018, 10:50:29 AM
Cyber attacks targeting cryptocurrency exchanges have been occurring for a while now, with the collapse of Mt.Gox in 2014 being perhaps the most notorious example. Prominent exchanges such as Bitstamp, Bitfinex and Coincheck have also been successfully hacked in the past, with Coincheck losing more than $500 million worth of their customers’ funds earlier this year.

Yesterday, another successful hack was added to the list when Coinrail, a relatively small South Korean cryptocurrency exchange, suffered a security breach that resulted in stolen funds. For now, it is unclear exactly how much the thieves got away with, but the Pundi X team says 2,619,542,080 NPXS (about $14.66 million at the time of writing) were withdrawn from the exchange in an unauthorized transaction. The amount represents a significant amount of all NPXS tokens in circulation, which prompted the team to respond:

“Since the amount of NPXS token is equal to 3% of our current supply, which could potentially affect the interests of all parties, we instigated an emergency security protocol to halt ALL the NPXS transactions at 11:16 am Singapore time (GMT+8) to protect NPXS holders and help Coinrail and Korean law enforcement to investigate the incident.”

Apparently, the hacker(s) transferred the funds to IDEX, but the exchange collaborated with Coinrail and Pundi X and froze the account which deposited the tokens. South Korean authorities are already on the case, and we hope that the attackers will not be able to profit from the crypto assets they have stolen.

The attackers also stole an unknown amount of other tokens from the exchange, but details are still unclear with some news outlets reporting that about $40 million worth of tokens were stolen.

A number of observers blamed this security breach for yesterday’s heavy price drops, but this seems a bit far-fetched. Coinrail was not even among the top 50 exchanges by volume prior to the hack, and processed about $2 million worth on the day before it was hacked. The biggest cryptocurrency exchange at the moment, OKEx, handled $1.7 billion worth of trades in the last 24 hours.

As always, you should be aware that holding your cryptocurrency on exchanges is risky, since they are a very attractive target for hackers. To be as safe as possible, you should consider withdrawing the assets you are not planning to trade in the short term.

388  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you keep buying? on: April 10, 2018, 03:02:20 AM
Bitcoin price keeps increasing. Price is x10 considering last year. Even 25k-50k-100k is predicted.
Are you adding more bitcoin by buying with cash? or you trade or invest in ICOs & altcoins in order to increase the amount you have?
or do you just hold what you have?
All smart people are now buying bitcoin for the future, don't let the recent market reaction bother you from buying more bitcoins. what happened recently in the market it is called correction it is normal. the market correction is giving people the opportunity to buy bitcoin at a cheaper price to sell later when the market gets high again. For me, I invest in both bitcoin, altcoins, and also invest in good, legit, and promising ICOs that looks profitable in the future.
389  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to Make Money in Crypto on: April 10, 2018, 02:46:21 AM
Good day as I am new to the crypto world What is really the way to make $ in in crypto ? such as Bitcoin or other coins?
I understand as i have some invested. in my wallets the values go up and down, so you can cash out or sell when value up?
do you just buy and sell currency as the markets move up and down? or what other ways to make $ with crypto?
do you transfer bitcoin over to other websites etc?
or what should i be focusing on? thanks
just like to know what all the experts do?
Of course, leaving bitcoin in your wallet if you are not planning to HODL for long-term wont do you any good, here are the few things you can do to make extra income.

1. Buy bitcoin mining contracts
2. Invest your bitcoin into legit ICOs
3. Start bitcoin trading, if you have the trading skills
4. Bitcoin lending for interest on bitcoin lending platform such as xcoins.io

390  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What are the most common uses of Bitcoin? on: April 10, 2018, 02:40:08 AM
I am a newbie in Bitcoin Forum.I know some of the most important uses of Bitcoin. They are:
1.You can buy a flight ticket.
2.You can rent a hotel room.
3.you can buy pizza and other food related goods.
4.You can use it as a investment vehicle because bitcoin will continue to grow in value.

I want to know other important uses of it.
Using bitcoin you can actually buy anything you want from house, car, to cloths. if you want to buy anything on Amazon just go to purse.io to make your purchased with 20% discount of course for using bitcoin to buy.

Purse.io - Get discounts greater than 20% on Amazon.com
Airbitz - Find bitcoin-friendly merchants near you and online
Coinmap - Find bitcoin-friendly merchants near you
Open Bazaar - A decentralized marketplace

Anything other than signature campaigns and gambling.
A bit saved is a bit earned. So save your money by not clicking on any of the signatures of the people posting in this thread.
Yes, there are few other ways to earn bitcoin apart from the signature campaign and gambling, which are:

1. Bitcoin mining
2. Bitcoin trading
3. Bitcoin Lending
4. Freelancing for bitcoin
5. Selling digital products for bitcoin

392  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What impresses you the most about Bitcoin? on: April 10, 2018, 02:31:26 AM
I know a lot of people have different reason why the love and embrace bitcoin.
For me the decentralized nature of bitcoin and the thought of being able to send coins to anybody in any part of the word, no third party, no regulation(specific amount), no bullshit is mind blowing.
I like the concept and ideology behind bitcoin. the bitcoin is the first peer-to-peer digital currency. it is fast, secure, decentralized, and acceptable worldwide. The bitcoin gives freedom back to the people by putting them in control over their money, unlike banks that controlled everything.
393  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Am i late to buy bitcoin now ?? on: April 10, 2018, 02:12:58 AM
Hello there one year ago i bought 3 bitcoins but lost them all in gambling... :'(nd now seeing the bitcoin price makes me cryy...
I have 1500USD right now...i am thinking to buy the bitcoin now whatever i can get with them
Should i buy now or not as bitcoin is reached its all time high and in to the moon...please advice me
No. it is never too late to invest in bitcoin. Try to invest in bitcoin for a long-term that is the secret of making lots of profits today. the people that invested in bitcoin a few years back are now the ones to enjoy the sweetness of bitcoin. Make a plan to invest in bitcoin for at least 2 years.
394  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: For how long will bitcoin exist on: April 10, 2018, 02:08:43 AM
i have been thinking bitcoin cannot last forever..............i need you guys opinion if what im thinking is right.
Well, if you look at the history the gold coins survived for thousands of years as a currency, then came the paper money it lasted for about 200 years. And here we are with the new bitcoin the digital currency. Many people compared bitcoin with gold, calling bitcoin the new gold 2.0. thus, if people start calling bitcoin as the new gold then there must be something great with bitcoin and because of that, I think the bitcoin will last for at least half the gold time which is a thousand years minimum.
395  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will Bitcoin become a daily currency??? on: April 10, 2018, 01:56:42 AM
I have recently written an article about the possibility of Bitcoin becoming currency we will use on daily basis.  so now I want to ask the question do you think we will see if it can be used as a daily currency???  or do you think it will be more like gold a good store of value???
My own personal hope is that we will see cryptocurrencies develop into currencies we will use on a daily basis.  in my opinion, bitcoin will be a good place to start due to the mainstream knowledge about Bitcoin,  but I do not think it's the best-suited kind for daily use and I believe we have a long way to go before it is a viable alternative to Fiat currencies for the majority of people.

For inspirational purposes, I have included my article
https://cryptoms.online/2018/02/27/will-bitcoin-become-a-daliy-currency/

Yes, I think in time the people will be using bitcoin to buy everything they need for day to day activities. The major problems with bitcoin now are slow transaction speed and paying for high transaction fees. Once the Lightning Network is ready, it will solve all the bitcoin transaction issues from slow transaction speed to paying high transaction fees. Once the LN is implemented it will speedup speed the bitcoin transaction with nearly zero fees and the people can use bitcoin to buy everything they want with bitcoin as a daily currency.
396  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ways to promote Bitcoin on: April 10, 2018, 01:30:24 AM
if you have the benefits from bitcoin? you can promote bitcoin in many ways.

-By explaining bitcoin to others, spread the word about bitcoin and take note you must learn more about bitcoin to do this.
-If you have skills in blogging, design, video and photo editing, web design, etc. Create something different out of your skills to promote bitcoin.
-If you have business establishment try to experiment to accept bitcoin currency.

if you have any idea how to promote bitcoins just share here.
For me, I found promoting bitcoin on social media sites more easier on platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and Instagram. Social media is the place where you can now find almost everyone these days from your friends, co-workers, to your family members. It is very good to promote new stuff more especially a technology it may attract so many people's attention.
397  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin as money on: April 10, 2018, 01:22:04 AM
They say that bitcoin is the future of money. What do you think if we use bitcoin in everyday lives as a money? Like buying foods. Or buying clothes. Do you imagine it positively or negatively?
Yes, I think in time the people will reach a point where they'll be using the bitcoin to buy things like food, coffee, and so on. what is stopping people from buying everyday stuff with bitcoin now is paying high transaction fees and by the time when the Lightning Network is ready and implemented. The Lightning Network will speed up the bitcoin transaction with almost zero fees, that time people would be allowed to use bitcoin the way they want.
398  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who wants to be a Bitcoin Millionaire?! on: April 10, 2018, 12:50:18 AM
Everyone wanted to become a bitcoin millionaire, in today's time, money is power, when you have money you can do whatever you wanted, buy the thing that you like and travel without thinking of being bankrupted. But I think it is almost impossible for it to happen right now. countries around the world are banning the use of bitcoin and the price is continuously going down, But even thou I still have a slight feeling that bitcoin will go back to the top that is why I am still holding few of the earnings that I get from doing bounties.
Many people are dreaming of becoming millionaires with bitcoin but that ain't easy because being a millionaire is not a joke. It may take 5-10 years no matter how good your business is making you money to get to a millionaire level. Getting that millionaire tag requires huge guts which I don't see lots people have it here.
399  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can any government ban Bitcoin? on: April 10, 2018, 12:36:04 AM
Bitcoin is not owned or controlled by any government or corporation. Bitcoin network is peer to peer and fully decentralized.

You are correct there dude bitcoin cant be controlled by anything people even the government Because of its quality and features . I think government can only do is make a regulation about how the people use it or make a law that will govern how to use bitcoin.
I agree too.The government cannot totally ban bitcoin since it is regulated in a decentralized form. And it would give them hard times identifying the users knowing we are not using our real identities. What the government can do is to impose laws against bitcoin and giving sanctions to those who violate their laws.

You are right, government can only impose laws on the user and not the bitcoin system itself as it is decentralized. Plus it runs thru the internet which is today a minimum requirement for almost any businesses, schools, homes and etc.

The government can only ban their people from using bitcoin just like how China does, but they can't ban using the bitcoin all over the world. The bitcoin banning by some countries such as China will never kill bitcoin as it lives on the internet. thus, other people around the world will continue using bitcoin just like me and you now.
400  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Saving Bitcoins for your Children. on: April 10, 2018, 12:03:31 AM
Like every other investment such as real estate, stocks and other forms of investment we know that you can invest in that kind of things and then you get something like say a Certificate or a Binding Document as a proof that you are part of that investment, now that of bitcoin all you have is just your address, your password, key and seeds as proof of the ownership of the wallet.

BTC

So now if one is considering buying bitcoins and saving for his/her children in the future is there any way to do that with bitcoins apart from having to write down your details somewhere. I'm asking because with that kind of stuff if no one knows your seeds or password no one can get the coins. Huh Huh Huh
Saving bitcoin for your child is a very good plan the way i see it because it may take a long time for your child to grow about 10-20 years. if you save your child a bitcoin over that period of time the value of bitcoin will be huge enough to support your child to start a good business if not reinvest the money into cryptocurrency again. For me, the cryptocurrency served me well and I can't wait to show my kids.
