381  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] MATRIX COIN - MTX [New Profitable Coin] on: August 05, 2019, 09:19:47 AM
WOW,

Thats one amazing in-built wallet miner that can reach over 350GH/s with only 20 miners....
Strange !

Question for the DEV.
How come there are people already mining it when there is no windows / linux wallets, only a web wallet?

All seems a little odd

who can setup a mining pool?

You dont need a pool.
In fact its the very last thing this coin needs.
Just solo mine it from the wallet
setgenerate true 1

J

use cpu mine it?

yes

On poolx fake miner are banned !

A chance for real miners ...

Good job  Wink

pardon? How do you fake mine? Never heard of that before
384  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 85% of All Bitcoin Have Now Been Mined!!! on: August 02, 2019, 08:34:00 AM
I think, at the next block halving you will see a short term massive drop in difficulty, as miners realise that they are suddenly going from profit to huge losses.
Over time it will re-stabilise, but i think the overall difficulty will remain significantly lower than pre-having.
That said, if any of us actually knew what was going to happen, then we'd be better off selecting the lottery numbers Smiley

@BitcoinFX,

Only had time to glance your reply, but 1 thing got my attention..."2nd pool" comment.
Are suggesting that there is a pool? Would love to know.

J

Okay, had time to read thru the rest.

I appreciate the $50+ a month and more importantly, your time, so i'm posting the link to the explorer payment page.

Guys, if you want to support this coin, feel free to contribute, the 1 month option doesn't work, but the others do.
https://chainz.cryptoid.info/contribute.dws?coin=gap

To start the ball rolling, i've just added 2 months (all i can afford)
https://ibb.co/FBTHwt4

As for my only getting 2-4 blocks a day....shortly after i said it, i noticed the hashrate drop considerably, and even though the diff only dropped slowly, i managed to mine over 500 coins (more than i have in the last year).
Did you turn off your miner briefly? Who ever did, it made a huge difference, but unfortunately its back on again.

386  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Datacoin - Censorship-Free Data Storage on: July 30, 2019, 07:28:28 AM
Hi Hamburger,

Thank you for the heads-up!

I purchased 2 months.

If anyone else feels like contributing, it's very easy -- you simply send Bitcoin to the address it creates after you click the amount of months you want to help with!

Kind Regards,
The DataSea

Hi,

Just a heads up on the  hosting for the Datacoin explorer on CryptoID, it  will expire on 2019-08-02 00:00 (in 7.5 days).

If your contribute towards the CryptoID hosting costs, the explorer for Datacoin will be hosted for longer

https://chainz.cryptoid.info/contribute.dws?coin=dtc

Thats not how it worked when i tried

https://ibb.co/hsTS8Jr

I'd happily contribute but not ifi have to leave all those details....

Would anyone be able to help setup solo mining on Windows?

It's really not a trivial process, unfortunately. You're looking at something like this: https://github.com/mikeghen/litecoin-solo-mining-tutorial

How come? It just works on the moonlandr1, so why not same on this one?
Also, thats a linux tutorial, not windows.

389  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][GAP] Gapcoin - Prime Gap Search - New Math Algo - CPU / GPU - Zero Premine on: July 28, 2019, 11:48:30 AM
Hi Minerja,

Since Cryptopia.co.nz going down there is not a real exchange to trade for profit.  I suggested an exchange and applied however, due to lack of developer and discord channel it likely failed.  It might change in the future.

I think you should have followed my advice, I am sorry you got lost.

I have a 8 core 1700 and get way more than 3-4 blocks.  I told you excactly how to optimize the wallet miner with detailed instructions on the github.com/gapcoin/gapcoin issues tab

Trisquel OS is required.

On a different note, Iran accuses Israeli Mossad of poisoning/murdering IAEA Director General Yukiya Amano.

On July 18, he died at age-72 after heading the organization since 2009, no cause of death explained.

Since Security Council Resolution 2231 adopted the JCPOA, the IAEA affirmed Iran’s full compliance with its provisions 15 consecutive times.

Last October, in response to Israel’s Netanyahu falsely claiming Iran, seeks nuclear weapons, citing a (nonexistent) “secret atomic warehouse” in his UN General Assembly address, Amano refuted the accusation, saying:

“The agency sends inspectors to sites and locations only when needed. The agency uses all safeguards relevant to information available to it but it does not take (so-called intelligence) at face value.”

I get it Trump sent Nikki Haley to IAEA to force them to join the team against Iran after Trump pulled out of JCPOA.  She failed to convince the honorable gentleman from Japan to surrender.

I understand the Bitcoin Cabal would always like to keep their Monopoly going through whatever means, just as the US Federal Reserve has had the sole right to organize the world's capital under the SWIFT system.

Bitcoin is terribly weak for encryption standards.  Gapcoin to break through is REQUIRED to move to SHA512 and 64 bit number generator.

Hopefully you can stick around until than.  It is really an easy fix but going through all the code is tedious changing all the Uint32 to Uint64 base pairs and sha256 to sha512, but it is simple.

No idea why you are bring politics into this...
I tried you "Trisquel OS", and it doesn't work, as i told you before
You offered no help to get in working
I am not a "LINUX" guy, so if you have clear / simple set of instructions, i can soon have another go

390  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] FutureBit Project Apollo: Bringing ASIC Mining Back to the Home Miner! on: July 28, 2019, 01:25:04 AM
I just recently got an Apollo and want to try solo mining. What is the best way to do this now before the full node software upgrade is ready?

Thanks
R

Your choices are to set up a node and a Stratum proxy (private 'pool'), or use an exiting solo pool. I suggest the latter because it's far more simple.

Hi,
Would anyone be able to help setup solo mining on Windows?

Whats with this coin,
150,000 coins for masternode?
What is the block reward?
No working pools
8c16t miner gets 0.030kh/s, or  30h/s, yet network hash is over 1.3MH/s.

Either thee are literally 10,000 of miners, or someone has a much much faster miner then the cpu miner published.

Serious dev, what a con....
392  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][GAP] Gapcoin - Prime Gap Search - New Math Algo - CPU / GPU - Zero Premine on: July 26, 2019, 11:38:03 AM
Hi BitcoinFX,

I love all CPU only coins,
but my own thoughts as to your question....

Still unsure as to why this community has become so despondent towards a world record breaking Math Alt. coin with such massive potential !?!

First and foremost.....Profit !
I would guess that the vast majority of miners are either doing it as a hobby, or for profit.
So lets look at that....with a decent Ryzen 8c/16t PC using all cores flatout i might see 3-4 blocks a day....hmmm, not much "fun" there.
Dont go down the well, its not about money, and it could double, reble, blah, blah, this coin has been out years, and is a breath away from extinction.

Warp me into an alternate dimension where lets say with my 8c/16t cpu i win all 576 blocks a day, that equates to around £3 a day, minus £2 a day for power, leaves me with £1 a day profit....
So if no-one else mines it, and if i win All blocks, i get £1 a day....so that blows the Profit reason....

Next, suppose i dont care about any of that, and just want to mine for the erm FUN of it....
Well i down load a wallet, tyre setgenerate true blah blah, and hmmm boring, so i download an external mier, and erm, cpuminer -o 127.0xxx.xx blah blah -t (hey i can change number of cores), great but still boring.
So as i have done many times now, try to use the CRT thingy, and holy cr^p, i want to mine not be a mathmetician....after all these years can no-one provide a simple to use, optimsed, customisable miner

So, fine, i spend days writing files i dont understand, then mine with those files, seeing figures i know not what....and guess what..after all that, i still only get 3-4 blocks a day

Oh, and lastly, what about a much more "politically correct answer",  - I want to help find the worlds largest PRIME number....sheesh, i'd rather use my cycles to solve cancer Thankyou very much.

So, tongue in cheek, bitchin over....honestly

Start a NEW THREAD
Make the core point of this coin Simple for Idiots like me
Make sure all links are easy to spot, work, and oh, are from this century !
Most point to outdated bounties, dead pools, and well...enuff said

Make a POOL!. That way peeps like me can point our dumb little PCs at it, and actually see we are acheiving something, instead of this all of nothing solo crap
Make sure the diff retargets quicker and drops much lower, looking at the global hashrate today, no -ne is mining this coin, and i still can only win 3-4 blocks a day (my record btw is 80 coins or 20 blocks once, i think pigs were also flying that day)

Basically give people a reason to use their hashpower, not waste it
Make a pool, and each time a milestone is hit, make it BIG and BOLD
Let people have a goal, and tell them when they meet it.
Find a way of explain the Chinese whatever it is better, or re-badge it, it a way that my gran understands, and more importantly, make it so peeps can see genuine gains, when they go to all the effort to get the external miners working (cos honestly i have tried them all, several times, on Win and Linux, and can't see ANY benefit)

Like i said at the TOP.
I LOVE cpu coins, and mine pretty much all of them, and although this keeps pulling me back, it also disappoints me every single time, and that hurts me to say, cos i mine some real "sh%" coins.

I honestly wish you good luck rebuilding, and although i can't promise you massive hashpower, i do have a spare Pi3, so hows about a miner for that? Might sound silly, but it reduces the cost of entry to pennies, and is the one device that peeps tend to get working, and then forget about, so whilst not generating them any "profit",  10's of them on, 24/7 might just help set some world records....

Can't you use the profits from that ICO to kick start this project?

Can anyone out there please help....

I am a windows guy, with minimal linux experience (although i can compiled a few wallets and miners - usually from instructions)

I have a pc permanetly mining on ubuntu, and would love to install burst onto the same pc, but for the life in me i have no idea where to start.
I've downloaded Burst 2.4.1, managed to install JAVA (although not one of the instructions given actaully worked), manged to find mariabd, and a setup file, but surprise surprise nothing works.

I mean seriously, wtf does
==============================================
[Download and install MariaDB](https://mariadb.com/downloads/mariadb-tx]

The MariaDb installation will ask to setup a password for the root user.
Add this password to the `brs.properties` file you will create when installing BRS:
===================================================
mean?

I managed to find what i think was the right file (just), downloaded it, it was mariadb-10.4.6-ubuntu-xenial-amd64-debs.tar....so how do i install it...(hmm the words above simply say INSTALL
So i found this - mariadb_repo_setup (yeah, managed to run it - so what) - it never asked for a password, so how can i put a password in brs.properties

Anyway
So, this is my install

Distributor ID:   Ubuntu
Description:   Ubuntu 16.04.6 LTS
Release:   16.04
Codename:   xenial

and java version
openjdk version "1.8.0_03-Ubuntu"
OpenJDK Runtime Environment (build 1.8.0_03-Ubuntu-8u77-b03-3ubuntu3-b03)
OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (build 25.03-b03, mixed mode)

I did a standard install from usb to hdd, and have 1 user account, password prortected, and download all files into a folder called "Downloads"
So if anyone has a spare moment or two, could someone please post in here, or pm me with a consice idioys guide to download BURST full local wallet and to get in running....

Stupid thing is, i can get the plotter and miner working....why the FCUK is BURST so hard on linux....grrrr

Head in hands, praying to the linux gods on high

Thk U  Wink

CPU and/or HDD aren't fast. I am preparing 3 X 1 TO disks (2.5 SATA) for mining and test...

If OK, i will make others (but not SSD, because too expensive)

Question : DISC coin will be OK for STACKING ? If OK, How ?

I get where your coming from Smiley

The ssd, literally needs borrowing for a week to help you plot, its the 3 x 1TB you plot to, not the ssd (its just a buffer effectively)
If you can't borrow an ssd, see if you can get your hands on any small fast drive, the WD Green/blue range, that kind of drive can be used as a buffer instead of an ssd, but so long as it is quicker than the drives you are finally writing to, it can make quite a difference.
Alternatively borrow as much ram as you can.
All you are trying to improve is the collating of lots of bits of data, so they can be written in bigger chucks. The bigger the chunks, the faster they write to the final disk. (if you ever want to try an experiment. Try copying 10,000 small files totalling around 100MB, then try copying 1 x 1GB file, you'll see what i mean, its similar principle. What you need is to find the fastest drive you can with the 10,000 small files, and use that as your "buffer" drive)

In your case, if you are plotting laptop drives, probably using any "modern" desptop drive as a buffer, will speed up the plotting....well, hopefully. If its going to take 3 days + to plot the drives, might as well do some tests for an hour first, who knows what you'll find Smiley

More 1 day to plot 1 TERA hard drive ? Normal ?  Grin

No.
Is it an external USB hdd, cos if its like mine its probably using SMR technology which makes them painfully slow to write small chunks to.

For me,
Using Ryzen 1700 8c/16c plotting direct to hdd, writing @ approx 20-50MB/s took me little over 9 hours.

Same config, but using SSD (basic 120GB) and same hdd, write speeds jumped to 80-120MBs, so plotting 1 TB took around 2 hours.

I think i got around 80,000 nonces/s , you can get similar with just a low end Nvidia 1030GT

Make sure to run turboplotter as Admin thou, and have at least 8GB system ram (that will give you about 2-4GB to play with) (16GB gives about 8-12GB free, so much better)

Good luck

398  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: New miner. Using a Nividia GTX 760. Need advice on: July 22, 2019, 07:45:45 AM
So i just started mining and learning a little. I have a Nividia GTX 760. I know it isnt much, but I just want to play around for a little before I spend any serious money on mining. Ibtried to set up to use my gpu in minergate but I got a message that the memory was too low. I did some googling, and read that you can increase dedicated memory by entering BIOS and altering it to make it higher. I wasn't able to get into BIOS by using F2,F5,F8, delete etc. How would I do that? Is there any other way without buying a new GPU at the moment? And if not, what would be other alternatives for me to do a little mining until I am ready to spend on a nice big fat rig? Any help is much appreciated.

Hi,
I have that card too.
You CAN use it to mine, BUT it is a very power hungry card (mine has 8+8 pin power),and it runs very hot, very loud, and will earn about 10-100 sats a day using Nicehash Legacy.
The power it consumes completely dwarfs any possible profit.

Best guess, would be to sell it, and buy a cheap 1030GT if all you want to do is "tryout" mining first. At least that way you can mine MOST of the current algos (only 2 GB card thou), and if you decide mining isnt for you, its an ok low end gaming card.

Good luck
J

Wow,
What a train wreck this project is.
Question for the DEV...
How come this official wallets were released only a few hours ago, yet there is already 14910 TB plotted and mining.(https://explorer.diskcoin.org/)
How come the windows wallet does nothing when i click on "generate plotter id", so i use the link, which gives me a phrase and ID, but how do i ever access that account?

hmmm, why people keep following this, i have no idea...
