@buwaytress

The Bengy guy on my list is also from The Netherlands, so that might be a good option?
And them maybe let him send it to someone in the UK for example, so it can go to Gibraltar pretty cheaply.

I hope you guys don't mind me sharing the general locations, it's kinda hard to organize if I don't Tongue

The Bengy guy I'm talking about is on this list:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5130404.msg52414882#msg52414882

Oh yeah, I've also added some DigiPiglet stickers in the package, you can send a couple of them along as well. It's not like they weigh much.

Adding the receipt I got from the post office as proof:

42  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: The DigiPiglet Journey on: September 12, 2019, 02:57:11 PM
It's now on its way to buwaytress Smiley
I hope it arrives safely, because I didn't go for the tracking. Trying to keep it a bit cheaper to send, as the tracking would have added too much.

This is a market,  every Jack has his Jill

You must be trolling. I mean only a person with an IQ lower than 80 can possibly think that someone would lend them 35 BTC, without any form of trust.
Like, it amazes me that you can even write full sentences.

I didn't write that the transaction would be without documents and a detailed description of the situation. Thank you for believing in my IQ and EQ

Look, do you think it's normal that someone just comes to a public forum and asks for a $357000 loan?
You can provide as many documents and stories as you want, nobody would ever loan you the money, unless you could provide collateral that's worth more than the amount you're asking for.

Heck, not even a legendary member with a positive trust score of 20 would get such an amount without providing collateral.
And here you are thinking that anyone would take you serious...
44  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin - Friends & Family adoption - Share your experience. on: September 12, 2019, 10:09:55 AM
I've introduced dozens of friends to Bitcoin, most of them do not use it daily, but they do have some Bitcoin stored away for the future.
However there are a couple who are now well into Bitcoin and use it pretty much daily.

They're using it for online shopping or ordering food (which is very easy here using Takeway.com).
I have no idea how those people made the switch from using fiat to Bitcoin so easily, I've never really explained it a lot to them, just mentioned it in conversation basically.

My family is a different story, I've mentioned it countless times to them, but they never really got into it.
45  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Steemit.com: Blogging is the new Mining on: September 12, 2019, 09:42:51 AM
Woohoo, finally they're going to stop the automated selling of Steem, well for this month at least.
I hope they can eventually increase their advertising income enough to completely stop the selling of their stake.

Best news I've heard about Steem in months!
46  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: The DigiPiglet Journey on: September 12, 2019, 09:24:14 AM
Don't worry about it @buwaytress, you did well Smiley

I'm sending the DigiPiglet to you in a couple of hours, going to the post office at around 2 PM Smiley

48  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The house edge on: September 12, 2019, 08:35:00 AM
Bitlser and Crypto games both have very low house edges and all the features you've listed.
Bitsler is a bit more graphically pleasing and Crypto Games has a slightly lower house-edge of just 0.8% on dice.

Both casinos are very trustable and offer instant withdraws.
49  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BEST DIVIDEND CRYPTO's to invest in... on: September 11, 2019, 09:07:12 PM
Leasing your Steem Power on Steemit pays pretty good dividends, up to 22% APR I've seen.
Though you really shouldn't invest in bid bots any more, they're all becoming unprofitable due to the most recent Hard Forks.

I'm using this website to lease my Steem Power:
https://dlease.io/

The best offers are now at around 17% APR per day, but it's usually a bit more than that.

is that meant to say per year?

Yeah that's per year, silly mistake of mine.
Dividends are paid out daily though, so that's where my confusion came from I think.
50  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Promoting BTC via art on: September 11, 2019, 08:53:47 PM
I really don't see the value in a painting like the one shown in the OP, then again I really don't know anything about art Tongue
I mean, it's definitely kinda neat that he's selling them for Bitcoin, it shows that there's adoption in so many different "industries" (if you can call art an industry)

Now, stuff like this I do really like:
Yes it is a nice way. I've also seen an artist that promotes bitcoin through his mural. He's also a member of the forum, Pascal Boyart.

Street Artist Hides $1,000 in BTC Inside a Mural Depicting Paris Protests

Street Artist Who Hid 0.26 BTC in His Mural Just Got a Major Bitcoin Tip

I'm a big fan of interactive art like this, heck if the artist accepted donations, I'd definitely send him something for his trouble!
51  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling just for fun? on: September 11, 2019, 08:45:47 PM
Some people don't gamble all the time though, not everyone ens up becoming addicted you know.
When you gamble very little, it's definitely possible to end up winning and staying in the positive.

Or even if you lose a little bit, you've still had your fun.
Other forms of entertainment also cost money, there are people who spend thousands of dollars on in-game items that offer no value.
What's different from gambling in those cases?
52  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What's stopping crypto from mass adoption? on: September 11, 2019, 08:39:18 PM
The crypto space is not very noob friendly: bitcoin and blockchain are complex daunting topics; cryptocurrencies themselves are not very user-friendly; and the cryptocurrency space has gathered a bad reputation for being filled with scams. A small mistake sending coins from your wallet can cause you to lose your money and ruin your experience. So, while everyone has heard about blockchain and bitcoin, people are not only unsure how to get started, they are also faced with these high barriers to entry.
-snip-
I beg to differ. The crypto space is actually very noob friendly. Bitcoin and blockchain, both of them are not as complex as you think. The basics are very simple. You don't need to know in depth to how the technology works in order to use it. Using bitcoin is the same as using paypal. You need to make a payment? Just enter the wallet address of the user instead of his email address like you would when making a payment with paypal. Our computer is a very complex instrument. But as long as we know the basics we will be able to operate it. We don't need to know how it works in order to operate it. The same thing goes for bitcoin. You don't need to know how it works to use it.

Yeah, when I see what kind of people are actually able to use crypto, I would also think it's pretty noob-friendly.
I have friends who are the most technically inept people you'd ever meet, yet they can easily work with many different cryptocurrencies.

Sure, they run into problems occasionally, especially regarding fees with Bitcoin (back when the mempool was full), but after explaining it to them they did seem to get it eventually.
53  Economy / Collectibles / Re: DigiPiglets.com - Bitcoin piggy bank - Gift idea for beginners and enthusiasts! on: September 10, 2019, 07:02:20 PM
Perhaps I missed it (didn't read every post) but do the unfunded versions come as DIY?

I think the units from the Kickstarter campaign will have the labels attached to them, but they are planning on making DIY versions which will be sold through their webshop.
Correct me if I'm wrong though @DigiPiglets.

it might be a good idea to regional group the "journeys", to avoid DigiPiglets going back and forth overseas (between continents). For example, some journeys within Europe first, then some journeys within US, Asia etc...

that will reduce total shipping fees, the possibility to get lost in transit & travelling time between journeys (i.e. the whole project will move faster)

just my 2 satoshi's  Tongue

Yeah, that's a good idea, I'm from Belgium myself, so maybe best that we start in Europe.

With regards to the people from Steemit I've added to the list, I know you don't really have trust scores there as we have on Bitcointalk, but I've selected people whom I personally trust.
I've been interacting with them for years and I'd say they have a form of trust embedded into their Steem accounts, since any scamming would be called out on there as well.
Hope everyone here agrees with that, I can act as a liaison if they don't have Bitcointalk accounts, since we're doing most of the organizational work on here.
54  Economy / Collectibles / Re: DigiPiglets.com - Bitcoin piggy bank - Gift idea for beginners and enthusiasts! on: September 10, 2019, 06:49:31 PM
I am definitely interested if we can get a big enough chain going.  It would be helpful to find someone that has a lot of friends that are involved in Crypto.  I don't have a ton of those so the people I could send it along to are pretty limited.  I am excited about this though and I hope we can get it moving.

No worries, we're just going to go through the list here first, then you don't actually have to look for someone Wink

we can gather a participation list here (with trustworthy members that would like to participate), and then start shipping to each other.  Smiley

Yeah, I'm keeping a list updated on this post:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5130404.msg52414882#msg52414882

I think tomorrow I'm just going to throw all your usernames into a random number generator and decide like that Tongue
55  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: The DigiPiglet Journey on: September 10, 2019, 06:38:34 PM
Wow, amazing, didn't expect so many people would be interested!
I have my work cut out, just to pick someone.

Btw, I've made a list here with all the people who are interested in participating:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5130404.msg52414882#msg52414882

I'm keeping it updated and will pick someone tomorrow. I've also suggested that we work through this list in the beginning, so everyone gets a chance to participate.

I'll also just post this here again, a blog post I've made on Steemit regarding the DigiPiglet Journey:
https://steemit.com/blog/@daan/the-digipiglet-journey-creating-a-physical-bitcoin-trust-chain-for-venezuela

@buwaytress

BIG THANKS for the early contribution!

@minerjones

Great to hear that, I'm trying to think of something on how to choose someone Tongue
Ideally, I'd want you all to receive it, luckily the guy on Steemit is also a member here Smiley
57  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Coinsbee.com - Buy gift cards with about 50 crypto currencies! on: September 10, 2019, 04:56:28 PM
Okay this is actually a pretty great service, I remember another crypto gift card website (forgot the name, but it was a popular one) that would basically only serve US countries, so it's nice to see that European countries are also supported.

I reckon your gift cards are universally accepted? Meaning that they're not tied to any particular country?

59  Economy / Economics / Re: Average savings across the globe on: September 10, 2019, 01:40:17 PM
That's why Americans are always very rich and their GDP is increasing every year. because they never let their money lose value every year due to inflation.
We really need to learn about effective ways to invest so our money doesn't lose value over the years.

Well, you actually do need a pretty significant emergency fund that you can easily access.
Especially in the US I'd say.

If they run into any medical issues which aren't covered by their insurance, they're pretty much bankrupt.
If they even have insurance in the first place, that is...
60  Economy / Collectibles / Re: DigiPiglets.com - Bitcoin piggy bank - Gift idea for beginners and enthusiasts! on: September 10, 2019, 12:53:10 PM
I can confirm that I have received the first DigiPiglet and I'm currently looking for people who'd like to participate.
I've promoted this trust-chain project by publishing a short article about it on my Steemit blog.

https://steemit.com/blog/@daan/the-digipiglet-journey-creating-a-physical-bitcoin-trust-chain-for-venezuela

Added a small additional incentive for the first person to receive it from me Wink

Edit:

I currently have 6 people who are interested in receiving the DigiPiglet to pass it on:

Mbitr (Bitcointalk): https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=1781771
@bozz (Steemit): https://steemit.com/@bozz
minerjones (Bitcointalk): https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=346731
buwaytress (Bitcointalk): https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=901859
tweetious (Bitcointalk): https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=830967
Bengy (Steemit): https://steemit.com/@bengy

Really nice to see so much interest, I'll definitely pick someone tomorrow and then send the DigiPiglet by mail on Thursday.
I don't mind shipping to the US or anywhere in Europe, Asia should be fine too I think.
