701  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Reviewing alternative Steem front-end SteemPeak on: March 21, 2019, 07:10:29 PM
I've recently switched over to another front-end for the Steem blockchain, called SteemPeak.
Funny enough, it's way less buggy in many different aspects and also has many more functions than the official Steemit.com website.

Check out my review on Steemit or SteemPeak, check out the difference Wink

Check SteemPeak out on State of the Dapps

Let me know what you think of the review and also what you think of SteemPeak.
Does it look nicer than Steemit.com or is there room for improvement?
702  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bitcoin Dice - why do you play in a particular casino? on: March 21, 2019, 05:13:57 PM
All I'm looking for is a dice website that doesn't have too many bells and whistles.
I just want a simple, clean experience with not too many fancy graphics, I usually find that way too distracting.

Of course I also look at the house edge, I generally do not play on dice sites that have a house edge higher than 1%
For me, Crypto-Games fits that description perfectly.
703  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: XRP is manipulating social networks on: March 21, 2019, 10:13:18 AM
Can't say that I'm surprised by this and Ripple isn't the only one doing this.
How many other cryptocurrency projects are giving people incentives to share positive news on social media?

I'm glad that they got caught though and I really hope that people would at least think before blindly trusting posts on social media.
704  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Have you ever managed to recover your losses? on: March 21, 2019, 09:50:19 AM
I've managed to recover a 5 BTC loss in the past, but that was back when Bitcoin wasn't worth as much as it is today.
I was playing slots on a website that had this progressive jackpot in their slot game, I was placing 0.005 BTC bets to try and get that jackpot.

In the end, I lost around 5 BTC and decided to call it quits for the day.
Then the next day, I came back for one last try, with something like 0.02 BTC left and I hit the progressive jackpot on the first roll.

Won me a cool 20 BTC and that was also the last time I ever played on that particular website.
Chasing jackpots like that is really a recipe for getting addicted to gambling...
705  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoiners now labelled as Right-wing extremists! LoL on: March 21, 2019, 09:28:13 AM
Woah, that's a lot of emojis you have there in your post Wink

I don't understand how you could even put all Bitcoiners into one particular political group, I've seen some very diverse people use Bitcoin.
Sure there's right-wingers who tend to use it, just because they get banned on other platforms, but that's the beauty of Bitcoin.

On the other hand, there are also many people who I'd consider left-wing that make use of Bitcoin.

Bitcoin has no political color, it's literally here for everyone to use, that's what makes it so enticing for a lot of people.
I mean, it just has a lot of benefits compared to the regular banking system, I don't see why that would attract only one particular group of people.

heck, a lot of people are disgruntled by the regular banking system, both on the left and on the right.
706  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: mTurk Equivalent but pays satoshi for task! on: March 20, 2019, 09:01:18 PM

The reward for this site must be small but this is much better than mturk imo because mturk is not easy , i mean not all people can register and be accepted on thier site  . i know because i once tried it ,  not only once but a couple of times but no luck im still rejected no matter what i do .  all i can say is that mturk sucks , good thing i found crypto and i discovered this forum   .

Online work is heavily crowded so unless you are extremely gifted it will be difficult to stand out among the crowd.  Everyone wants a job that is super flexible that can be done from home but most people don't have the chance to.

This website doesn't offer real jobs though, I mean just look at the offers that are currently available.
You can't expect to support yourself when you're doing small jobs that pay around 100 or 1000 satoshis.

It could be better, if there were jobs on there that paid a little bit better, but still...
707  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: LNchat.org - dedicated LN community site with various built-in LN functionality on: March 20, 2019, 08:36:42 PM
I'm just going to answer the question about whether I would pay a fee for making a post, since the other questions really aren't in my area of expertise.
I personally would not be opposed to paying a low fee for making posts or threads, especially if we're talking about something like 1 satoshi.

As for the price difference between posts and threads, I think the price of making a thread should be 2 or 3 times as much as making a post.
708  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling Disorder (Compulsive Gambling, Pathological Gambling) on: March 20, 2019, 08:26:40 PM
Everyone in the bitcoin forum should have above average intelligence, so I'm not really concern about these disorders. Gambling is a part of the history of humankind and here we already know what are the downsides of gambling. It's a trade-off between risks and returns while getting some enjoyment in the process. Happy gambling everyone Smiley
Lol, you really think everyone on the forum has above average intelligence? Lmao. Man I guess who haven't seen most part of the forum. You will see the forum actually filled with bunch of retards that is here just to spam.
Moreover, having above intelligence and not being concerned about the disorders are/cannot be related.

Indeed, the post you're replying to is really just too ridiculous Tongue
I've seen more people of below average intelligence here than on other forums.

Besides, gambling addictions do not have anything to do with intelligence.
People who get addicted are not necessarily dumb and it's just plain idiotic to say something like that.
709  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏆 Fantasy esport using Crypto? on: March 20, 2019, 12:52:58 PM
This is actually the first time I've ever heard about fantasy esports.
Is it any popular for regular gambling, not related to cryptocurrency?

Do you think the market would be big enough to host competitions for it, so it can also be used for gambling?
I genuinely haven't heard about this, so can't imagine it being that popular. Or maybe I've just been living under a rock? Tongue
710  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: A new look to KYC, from a customer's perspective. on: March 19, 2019, 11:41:11 AM
I mean, I just outright refuse to invest in any sort of ICO, just because they usually have absolutely nothing to show for it and the chances of getting burned are just too great.
Think about it, there are enough projects that manage to get things done, before even raising a single dollar of funding.

Verifying the team behind an ICO might mitigate some of the risks, but in the end it's always possible that they do not reach the goals they've set out.
No matter who they are...

711  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: How to succesfully move towards Open Source? on: March 19, 2019, 10:26:40 AM
There's actually a way to get some funding while you're working on your project, especially if it's an open-source project.
I've done many contributions for open-source projects and I get paid for those contributions through Utopian-IO

https://join.utopian.io/

Utopian is a platform that rewards contributions made to open-source projects, they do so by giving you high value upvotes on articles where you put in the details of your contributions.
You need to publish those articles on the Steem blockchain, they will review those contributions and give them a score.

The value of the upvote you receive depends on the score they give you.

Just to give you an idea of how much their upvote are worth:

Source: https://steemit.com/trending/utopian-io

You can work on your own project and get paid for doing so. Upvote values range from $10 to around $80 per contribution.

They accept contributions in the following categories:

- Development
- bug hunting
- Translations
- Blogs (about open-source projects-
- Documentation
- Tutorials
- Graphic Design
- Project visibility (they pay you for promoting your own project through advertising)

Check out their website for more information:

712  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: mTurk Equivalent but pays satoshi for task! on: March 18, 2019, 12:14:31 PM
Really depends what your technical abilities are with BTC from what I can see as most of these tasks involve some sort of programming ability, especially with smart contracts, but this is indeed a neat little site. Haven't seen many sites like this at all, much less one using the lightning network. It's true that these tasks pay more than using a faucet, but they also require more technical ability than a faucet. Not too bad, though if you've got any sort of programming skill you could also advertise in the Services section (click for link) and potentially get better rates than on this site.
I think its neat like one request pays you to gorilla market BTC by writing on 10 regular fiat notes.
Ive been looking for a crypto alternative to mTurk ...I think this is as good as it gets or as close to that as it can get. This quenches a thirst ive had for like 2/3 years

Yeah, I've gotta say that that's a pretty unique task to say the least.
Not worth my time though and I think it's actually illegal to write stuff on fiat banknotes.

One quick note, it's guerilla marketing, not gorilla marketing Tongue

Not trying to be pedantic or anything, gorilla marketing just sounded too funny Cheesy
713  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: What do you think of Utopian on the Steem blockchain? on: March 18, 2019, 11:31:27 AM
I'm not sure about building their own platform, have they tried other platform like Publish0x for example?

But if they want more flexibility then having your own platform is a must tho. The payment form doesn't really matter that much as you can simply integrate any blockchain platform (adding eth address for contributors etc). So if the aim is flexibility and more freedom to manage their own business, having their own platform is a must.

I think they'd rather build their own platform yeah. It really makes a lot of sense to do so, since they're already pretty active on Steem.
Now, with this new platform they can also support multiple other cryptocurrencies, so they're not completely dependent on Steem anymore.
714  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Employed for Bitcoin on: March 18, 2019, 11:07:26 AM
Is there any specific reason why you're currently working with a waiting list?
I mean, I'm not really inclined to try and get referrals to your website, if I can't even try it out.

I don't even know if it's worth it or not, while there are several other similar websites that I can join straight away.

717  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: massive feb visitor collapse in Bitcointalk and Coinmarketcap founding websites on: March 16, 2019, 02:49:14 PM
Btw, Theymos provided some accurate stats in a thread in the Meta section.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5120663

That's nonsense data, an estimate from a Web analytics company based on who-knows-what.

The real data shows for example:
 - Late February 2018: ~3.51 million total ad impressions per day
 - Early January 2019: ~3.44 million total ad impressions per day
 - Late February 2019: ~3.41 million total ad impressions per day

Source: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5120663.msg50162726#msg50162726

So the figures they've presented for Bitcointalk at least are inaccurate.

Exactly what I said in another thread that came up with these figures (that visitor counts were dropping).

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5119719.msg50131697#msg50131697

Also, how accurate are these statistics? Aren't they just estimates?
Only Theymos can provide us with accurate visitor stats of Bitcointalk.

Glad that you posted them here.
719  Economy / Services / Re: Hire Crypto Influencers & Buy Crypto Press at the lowest rates available on: March 15, 2019, 02:37:10 PM
Thanks for the review and kind words! We are looking forward to working with you in the future.

Not a problem at all, it was a pleasure working with you!
I sincerely hope that you'll find a couple of customers here, especially since the rates on your website are less expensive than elsewhere.
720  Economy / Economics / Re: Belarus has launched a regulated bitcoin exchange on: March 15, 2019, 02:18:34 PM
Who wants to use the service of a Belorussian provider?
I don't. Nor would anyone from Western Europe or America.
Maybe Russian or Serbs, but that's about it.

So what? Isn't it positive that there are exchanges in all parts of the world?
You can't expect Bitcoin to become used and accepted globally if smaller countries don't have their own exchanges.

Without talking about the political situation in Belarus, I think they're doing good by encouraging the use of cryptocurrency.
Other countries can really learn from that.
