281  Other / Meta / Re: I got shadowbanned! on: July 10, 2019, 01:43:34 PM
Don't think it has already been suggested here, but seems to me like this would be a good fit for Project Development, but with another title.
Also ditch the Google Docs and just write everything in the OP and update that.
282  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Creator and Developer Gone on: July 10, 2019, 01:26:12 PM
Well, that's why it's always best to support open-source crypto projects.
Even if something happens to the creator, the project itself will always live on.

Well, or it gets forked, that basically happens all the time. I mean, Litecoin and many other coins were also forked from Bitcoin.
Bitcoin itself also thrives without its creator being present...
283  Economy / Reputation / Re: Game-protect flag on: July 10, 2019, 01:07:08 PM
Definitely support it, but I don't really think it matters.
He's always been flagged into oblivion and just goes on without caring one bit.

You have to admit he's one persistent little bugger.
Think about all the time he could have spent on doing something productive, instead of desperately trying to promote his severely flawed concept on this forum.
284  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will BITCOIN run out in 2140? on: July 10, 2019, 12:12:37 PM
How is this related to altcoins? Weird to post this in Altcoin Discussion.

But yeah, that's when the last Bitcoins will be mined.
From that point forward, miners will be rewarded with the transaction fees included in every block mined.

Working as intended... Nothing weird about it Tongue
285  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: What are you looking in a DEX? on: July 10, 2019, 11:53:51 AM
I've had periods where I almost exclusively used decentralized exchanges, but I generally paid a bit too much due to the low amount of liquidity and high prices of sell orders.
Nowadays i just tend to use Kraken a lot, because the prices are generally better and I've been using them on and off since 2013.

Once most DEX's have decent volume and liquidity, I'd definitely use them again.
286  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I am very Pro Dogecoin – Says Ethereum Co-founder, Vitalik Buterin on: July 10, 2019, 11:43:34 AM
if he really said that, he should integrate dogecoin with ethereum. we need to see more parthnership with dogecoin not just speculations. business thrived when solid start ups and partnership works out.

Uhm, how exactly would you propose he'd do that?
Doge and Ethereum are two completely different coins, there's no sense in trying to integrate them.

In my opinion, doge is just fine the way it is now, it doesn't need partnerships or whatever.
More than that, once other projects start to influence dogecoin too much, it would completely ruin what it's all about.
287  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hell how people here cannot know this simple facts damn easy on: July 10, 2019, 09:48:07 AM
For all the talk about "dumb people" in your post, you don't really seem to explain your case all too smartly yourself.
Just saying...

I've read it 3 times and I still don't fully understand what you're on about.
288  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Dedicating my Life to Bitcoin and Looking to Help Different Projects on: July 10, 2019, 09:25:47 AM
I know that LBRY is always looking for new contributors to their project.
Given the fact that you have some coding skills, it could be the perfect project to get yourself acquainted with, since they accept contributions in a wide variety of languages (Python, C++, NodeJS, etc.)

Reading about your specific skill-set, it could be a great fit, since they need contributors on both the development and marketing side of things.

Have a look at these resources:

https://lbry.com/
https://lbry.tech/contribute

Just to give you a a quick summary of what LBRY is all about:

It's an open-source digital content marketplace, currently mostly being used as a decentralized video hosting platform (similar you Youtube).
289  Other / Meta / Re: Why bitcointalk.org is so popular? on: July 10, 2019, 08:02:30 AM
The fact that it was the first ever Bitcoin forum around and the fact it's so libertarian (pretty much anything goes, except for highly illegal stuff).

Oh yeah and obviously aliens, shapeshifting reptilians to be precise. David Icke & Alew Jones wish they could get to the bottom of it, but Theymos has always been one step ahead of them.
290  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Which platform for instantly buying & selling bitcoin at the lowest fees? on: July 09, 2019, 11:03:35 AM
Seems like this thread would fit more in Service Discussion.

I personally tend to use Kraken a lot, but it's far from being instant. Their fees are pretty low though and they've been around for a long time.
The thing with low or no-fees exchanges is that they often mark their prices up a bit. That way, you're technically not paying a fee, but you're just paying more for your Bitcoins.

Coinbase is pretty good for buying Bitcoins instantly, but you need a credit card for that. They definitely do not have the lowest fees though.
291  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What are the most unusual games you played in a crypto casino? on: July 09, 2019, 09:30:49 AM
There used to be a really unique game on Steem, called MoonSteem.
I had never seen a game like that before, it showed a graph that was going up and the multiplier increased, as long as the graph was going up.

You had to cash out before the game went bust and them you got paid out whichever multiplier it was on.
I once won a game with a X700 multiplier.

The game has been discontinued due to regulatory issues though.
292  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Minecraft UHC (battle royale) game for bitcoin | NEED HOSTING PAY IN BTC on: July 06, 2019, 12:12:30 PM
@PassThePopcorn

The thing is, even with staff watching, can you really be 100% sure that people aren't using transparent resource packs to mine for ores?
I mean, it's fairly obvious when you go straight for diamonds, but you can definitely make it look like you're discovering them by accident.

That said, even if cheating were possible, I do think it's a great idea. As long as you could prevent the majority of cheating, it might be enough to host something like this.

most hackers use cheap alts that they bought for like a cent each to hack on servers, as they dont want their main to be banned/exposed probably, so im thinking that some sort of verification like email verification should ward off about 50% of the hackers, and im thinking that for the higher stakes games with 0.05 or more total winnings there should be only allowed to members who have wagered atleast 0.005 btc total (lost+won both) if they were hacking to get there i think they would be caught by then + they would lose all their money if they get caught on the way, so i think this should also ward of most of them, while also having normal anti cheat detections like watch dog(but alot less sophisticated)

Yeah fair enough, I'm not that into Minecraft anymore, so I don't really know the go-to anti-cheat methods.
But what you're saying does sound reasonable, especially if you can include some sort of waiting period before prizes are paid out (to review the matches and catch cheaters before you pay out).

While I don't play too much Minecraft, I'd actually love watching some competitive UHC. Still a big fan of that, whenever someone on Youtube plays it, adding an extra competitive aspect to it (prize money) would make it even better I think.

Btw, why do it with wagers? Wouldn't it be more interesting if you could find actual sponsors instead?
Maybe some blockchain companies or Minecraft server hosting companies would be willing to sponsor in return for advertising.
Then livestream everything on Twitch, perhaps find a couple of big Minecraft Twitch streamers to join the tournament?
293  Economy / Reputation / Re: Supporting of shitposting by merit source is it trustworthy? on: July 05, 2019, 02:15:45 PM
Handing out merits is sometimes hard. I know when my merits build up and I haven’t handed out source merits in a while I get a lot more generous and know that if I don’t hand out all my source it gets burned, much better to be in circulation than have them vanish.
I agree with you. But it seems to me better to spend time and give away 50 merit for a good post than to encourage poor quality / junk posts.

That's highly subjective and I personally think there's no right or wrong way to spend your merits. (as long as you're not abusing the system)
What you think is a junk post, might be quality for someone else.

I know some people only consider posts with +10 sentences merit-worthy, while others only look at the content and general helpfulness of the post.
It's good that there's a lot of diversity between merit sources, that's going to "cover the most ground" IMO.
294  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How many people bought Bitcoin because of you? on: July 04, 2019, 12:27:28 PM
I think it's around 4 people in total who've specifically asked me to purchase Bitcoin for them.
Meaning that I've set up a paper wallet for them and loaded it with a couple thousand euros worth of Bitcoin.

Before I did that, I've thoroughly explained them how it works and how they can convert it back into fiat whenever they feel like doing that.
295  Other / Meta / Re: Open appreciation, achievement of Hero rank on: July 03, 2019, 08:05:32 PM
I haven't come across your name too much, but I just checked your latest posts and created topics and I'm pleasantly surprised.
Like, even though your English isn't 100% perfect (it's good and understandable though), you still put quite a lot of effort into what you write on the forum.

I see you're from Nigeria, which really puts a smile on my face, because you're single-handedly improving the reputation of your country.
Of course I know that there are many good people in Nigeria (and every country of course), but on the internet you tend to see a lot of negativity surrounding that particular country.

Really great of you to put in your best effort to become a productive member of Bitcointalk!
296  Other / Meta / Re: What is off topic? And is it spam to say congratulations/thank you? on: July 03, 2019, 03:00:00 PM
Not to be rude, but why are you replying to threads in the mining boards when you say yourself you have nothing to add there?
Are you even interested in mining at all? If the answer is no, stick to other boards where you do have something to add.

Never let the fact that you're in a signature campaign determine how much and where you post.
Always try to be constructive and add value to your replies.

On this forum, it's best not to mirror other people, just find out by yourself how to behave. It's good that you asked here, because now you know what not to do in the future. That's what the Meta board is all about IMO.

Oh and just download Shazam to find songs Wink
297  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FreeBitco.in Auto Free Roll Collector on: July 03, 2019, 02:47:54 PM
I highly believe that Freebitco already get rid of these Bots by putting up a Captcha thing. If this script do bypass that captcha then its a useful thing but
Installing a web-extension? No thanks!

Can't you even read the OP before you reply? You can play without captcha on Freebitco.in...
They know it's because people use bots to play.

Someone else already mentioned there are free tampermonkey scripts out there, no need to install anything...
Okay, you do have to make sure that the scripts are safe, but anyone with basic coding knowledge can do that.
298  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will You Trust a Project Announce BY A Legendary Member on: July 03, 2019, 02:35:56 PM
In some cases, it does add an extra layer of trust, especially when it's a well-known legendary member.
I know a couple of legendary members, including myself, who would only create an announcement thread when they are 100% sure that the project is fair and trustworthy.
299  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: House Democrats call for Facebook to halt cryptocurrency project on: July 03, 2019, 02:25:37 PM
Yeah, I'm not surprised given Facebook's history with not being able to safeguard personal data.
Cambridge Analytics is still fresh in everyone's memory and now they're starting their own stablecoin.

All I see is a massive data mining operation where they're going to have access to people's finances on the platform.
300  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [Project] A casino based on "Community Consensus" with lightning network on: July 02, 2019, 09:17:04 PM
The important question is : Does the idea have a big fan base around the gambling community? AFAIK, gamblers don't really like to complicate things, Deposit - Roll- Withdraw. They don't really care about the future of the platform or the core that is Proof of Wager. You can successfully deploy a platform like this but will gamblers actually start playing on your site?
This is a good question, but I think more and more gamblers will be exposed to the lightning network. Bitcoin deposits/withdrawals are slow, but the lightning network is more anonymous&fast, which is an objective fact. Second, there is no need to deposit to a wallet that needs to be trusted (the wallet of the casino) belongs to the future.

Other casinos won't stand in one place too, they will eventually adopt LN too. So, the question is, can your casino with complicated features compete against traditional simple casinos? And what terms will you offer to players - what will be the house edge, will there be any competitions, promotional bonuses and all the other things that will make betting on your platform more appealing than competitors?

Yes, but you also have to take 'first mover advantage' into account.
This could actually be the perfect way to start a new casino from scratch and get a lot of interest, purely due to the fact that it works with LN.

Sure, the casino and games need to be good, but I wouldn't underestimate the power that "being one of the first LN casinos" has.
