42  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto as job salary - Yay or Nay? on: May 14, 2024, 02:59:49 PM
would you prefer that or would you rather still be paid in fiat?
I have worked for a bitcoin salary in the past, and there is no difference between getting paid in bitcoin or in fiat if you will spend the money. There could be a difference if the goal is to hold, but it's hard to hold when you have to pay bills, house rent, and other stuff.

If you'd prefer crypto payment, which currency would you choose and why?
I would prefer a coin with fast confirmations and low fees, something like dogecoin or litecoin, because Bitcoin can be slow and expensive, so, it is not a good option at all.
43  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Run a Bitcoin Testnet 4 node on: May 14, 2024, 01:50:52 PM
Most of you know how the V3 is about to die with those 2.4M unconfirmed transactions, and the V4 is on the way
I can think of several reasons to abandon the current testnet, but the transaction backlog caused by spam isn't one of them. I assume it's caused by Ordinals and other hypes, which makes it trivially easy for them to move to the new testnet. You'll still need to outbid them on fees.

The reasons behind the attack on the v3 are not the Ordinals, the main fixes for V4 are two:

-Add Testnet4 difficulty adjustment rules fix.
-Add timewarp attack prevention for Testnet4.

I don't understand at all the technical side of the problem, but some people describe it as a block storm https://blog.lopp.net/the-block-storms-of-bitcoins-testnet/

And if you want to follow the current discussion about the migration, you can do it on the next link: https://groups.google.com/g/bitcoindev/c/9bL00vRj7OU/m/9yCPo3uUBwAJ

Looks like devs, aren't happy at all with the fact that Testnet has a value on markets, and they are even thinking about stopping the Testnet and only moving on with the signet. But I'm sure that will not happen, the community needs the testnet even if some people give it a bad use.

Quote
3. Is all of the above a waste of time and we should instead deprecate testnet in favor of signet?
44  Local / Español (Spanish) / Re: QDEP (RIP) - Bitcoin Testnet 3 on: May 13, 2024, 11:48:43 PM

https://altquick.com/exchange/market/BitcoinTestnet

45  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Run a Bitcoin Testnet 4 node on: May 13, 2024, 07:01:45 PM
How can i run a Bitcoin testnet 4 node?

Most of you know how the V3 is about to die with those 2.4M unconfirmed transactions, and the V4 is on the way, but i see the testen 4 is alive and it already has blocks (https://mempool.space/testnet4) so, how can i run a testnet v4 node?

I would appreciate it if anyone had a hint on this topic because I wasn't able to find information about this.

47  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Will I be easily hacked? on: May 13, 2024, 05:11:29 PM
I have a brand new phone, if I unbox it and use it to install only my bitcoin wallet without using it to frequent online or click links and neither will I download other apps. Will I still be easily hacked?

If you become a target then you can be hacked.

There is malware called Pegasus, and it's a nightmare for any smartphone, that software can get access to your device even if you don't click any link, they only have to make you a phone call and after that, they will be in.

If you want a secure way to hold your coin, a phone is not the best option. You should use a computer with a secure operative system like Linux to generate your address and private keys.
48  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: bitcoin-cli loadwallet on: May 13, 2024, 03:38:45 PM
Can you give us a hardware description, maybe you are running this on a raspberry pi, which would explain why the delay, or maybe it's an old machine with low resources.

If you are running in linux you can concatenate the commands;

Code:
bitcoin-cli loadwallet walletname; bitcoin-cli walletpassphrase "my pass phrase";

Or even use the sleep command between both commands:

Code:
bitcoin-cli loadwallet walletname; sleep 2600; bitcoin-cli walletpassphrase "my pass phrase";

It will not make it go faster, but you can leave it running and come back later once all is loaded.
49  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Trying to find a Sweet Bonanza Max win Video. on: May 13, 2024, 01:35:50 PM
Don’t want to create new thread for this topic and I remember some user inquire about the max win of this slot game.

I recently notice that the highest multiplier on this slot game on Stake.com is just x3000+ while the maximum multiplier is x21,000 which is absurd because this is the most played slot games on the casino yet no one hit even above x4000 in this game.

Is there something wrong with design of this game? And what’s confusing to this game is people keep playing this while the multiplier sucks. This slot game is a real money drainer. I think it’s RTP is not that accurate.

The weird thing is how it's one of the most played slots, it should at least have one max win until now, but no one has got it. If we compare it with the Wanted dead or a wild slot we will see how tons of users have got the x12500, but on that slot, we can have hundreds of dead spins.

Another slot that i like but haven't seen a big win is Nitropolis 4, on stake we see how the max win was x1676 which is really low for a game that offers x50,000 as max win.

Slots are money-eating machines, and they are not provably fair, we can't verify our rolls, and since it has RTP and not House Edge, the bets will be manipulated to ensure the house always wins.
50  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Chased loss, got it back and lost everything. on: May 12, 2024, 07:56:03 PM
Anyone here familiar with this kind of scenario on the title? Just recently saw a compulsive gambler diary which he manage to recover everything when he chased loss then later on he loss it all.

I have seen that with some gambling streamers, they get deep in the hole, then come back, and then lose it all. That's why it's important to know when to stop and to have a limit, because if you don't have one then you will lose all at the end of the run.

And the feeling about recovering and losing it all should be terrible, i haven't experienced it but i can imagine.
51  Local / Español (Spanish) / QDEP (RIP) - Bitcoin Testnet 3 on: May 12, 2024, 05:40:29 PM

[1] https://beincrypto.com/jameson-lopp-bitcoin-testnet-griefing-attack/
[2] https://blockchair.com/bitcoin/testnet/
[3] https://protos.com/halving-excitement-pumps-worthless-bitcoin-testnet/
[4] https://groups.google.com/g/bitcoindev/c/9bL00vRj7OU

53  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Future of testnet3 network. on: May 12, 2024, 03:07:59 PM
2.3 million pending unconfirmed transactions in v3.0 https://mempool.space/testnet

Mempool and Lopp + some other dude on twitter say they launched a v4, but ehhh... it's not in core... it's just a shitcoin of a testnet coin IMO.  https://mempool.space/testnet4

We shall see though I guess.

Testnet clearly needs some fixing, I think a v4 is a good idea, but done the right way and stuff fixed.

What kills V3 could kill V4, and i use the word kill because the V3 us unusable... a blockchain with 2.3M of unconfirmed transactions and blocks with only 67 transactions, that was a nice way to doom the network. An we should learn from it because if it happens in the test net it could happen in the main net too. I mean, isn't cheap but it's possible.

What would happen in altquick when the V4 comes? will it be a side market or you will drop V3 and only use V4?

RE: reviews

Trustpilot sucks though. I almost always ignore them lol.

I guess because of their popularity, there are more people complaining about you-problems. Further, it's also true that there is a buying and selling market for it. Most importantly, I've also seen a lot of reputable platforms (in general) that has poor metrics on trustpilot.

But reviews are still useful for me, just depends on who writes them. For instance, if it's btcgosu or a reputable member on the forum, them I'm inclined to believe them.

The problem with trust pilot is how it can be manipulated, in the past i have seen casinos paying to their users to leave a trust reputation on that site, and things can go both ways, user can get paid to burn a casino reputation, and they can even make it for free, just to fuck up a reputation.

Is important to have references like trustpilot and btcgosu, but is important to have our own criteria, if something looks shady then stay away from it. From what i have seen in the forum so far we can trust in huge win.

4 goals needed!!! Cheesy

tips: bc1qgll9gt4gmf8rddnyynrdrmzq9qzv336w7yezce

It is with 3 goals in the 64 minutes so hopefully you will get this first bet to get you a boost or as I would say to give you like 2 more free tries with the same bet as I would definitely not suggest to increase the bet amount after every win, depending on your budget you can do so if you lose but don't do it if you win.I have seen people ruined by odds of 1.3 or something along those lines and that would be catastrophic if you happen to lose it all from that bet,I am not a big fan of trying to get money needed through gambling yet I want to cheer you up and hopefully you can achieve the med school money and if you don't at least to get a nice part of it,something like 0.30 to 0.50 Bitcoin so you can pay a part of them through this challenge.

Unfortunately, the game ended with 2:1. After that goal in 64 min. there were no more goals and this bet was lost. I was rooting for the OP to win this second bet, but it didn't come to that. Maybe it's too late to talk about what he could have done better, he tried and failed... but he should definitely study some tips from this thread if he wants to try again.

So Savingformedschool do you plan to try again?

I was feeling very good after the 3rd goal to be honest, but they couldn't get me the 4th goal I needed. Sad With that being said, I am trying again. I redeposited 0.05 BTC so hopefully we can win this bet and get back on track! Smiley This will be my last try, so hopefully it wins!

Ouch what a bad streak, i really hope you win this time, don't giveup.

But i think you have a better chance if you add 2 games on your bet, known as parlay, it would be easier to get 2 games with +2.5 Goals than getting 1 game with +4 goals. And you would get the same multiplier in the end.

A good way that i have learn to win big with sports is by betting on UFC and selecting the winning method, my last nice bet on this way was Max Holoway winning by KO, and that one pays x7. So, it's a nice way to bet.
56  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Did you start investing in bitcoin because of some celebrity ? on: May 11, 2024, 07:29:59 PM
Did you also start investing in bitcoin because of some celebrity ?

We are not all investors, some of us see bitcoin as a way to make money online, and for me it has been that way since 2014. I like more the vision of getting bitcoins online and making them real money, that's how it works to me, buying coins with real money has been never an option. But it's just my point of view, for sure a lot of users have bought bitcoin in the past and made an awesome profit just by holding their coins.

And i haven't seen a lot of celebrities promoting bitcoin at all.
57  Other / Meta / Artificial Intelligence on the Forum on: May 11, 2024, 03:31:01 PM
I feel like we need clear rules about Artificial Intelligence on the forum.

What does the forum staff think about AI-generated posts?
Should we report those posts to moderators?
Should AI text be quoted?
Should users make the AI-Busters (Just like we have the Spam-Busters)?
Can users get nuked if they only post AI-generated content?

I know there are some other topics related to AI like this one https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5445074.60 but i don't see any intervention from the staff on that thread, that's why i place this questions to know how should we proceed about this topic as users.
58  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why Bitcoin Price is Down Today? on: May 11, 2024, 01:23:23 PM
Bitcoin's recent price decline can be attributed to a combination of economic uncertainty, regulatory concerns, and market sentiment. Factors such as inflation fears, cautious remarks from Federal Reserve officials, and regulatory uncertainties have led to a sell-off in Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. Market sentiment and investor behavior also play a significant role in driving price fluctuations. Despite short-term volatility, long-term fundamentals, including adoption and institutional interest, remain bullish for Bitcoin and the broader cryptocurrency market.
Do you think these are the reasons?

This is 100% AI-generated text, anyone can verify it with any of these tools:
https://gptzero.me/
https://www.zerogpt.com/

And if you think $60k is a low price, then let me tell you it can drop huge, the last time it hit the ATH went up to $64k and then it went down all the way for the next two years until it hit the lowest value of $14k, so, $60k isn't low, it still pretty high, i wouldn't even recommend buying now because the crash is inevitable.
59  Local / Español (Spanish) / Re: [Noticia] Detenidos Co-Fundadores de Samurai Wallet on: May 11, 2024, 01:15:14 PM

60  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why do people lose in gambling and still go ahead and bet more? on: May 10, 2024, 07:58:11 PM
Because gambling is about luck, sometimes we lose and some others we win. But the important thing here is knowing when to stop the session, understanding when you already won enough for a day and walking away with your profit.

And the losing streaks can be rude, sometimes it takes several days or weeks to gat back to a winning run. But the only way to do it is by keep trying it.

If the lose is huge or bigger than you can afford, then is time to quit gambling, that's the right thing to do when you don't understand your limits or when you are an emotional player.
