In which case, why not just release it as scrypt so that the GPU farms can mine it all up?
Exactly, the community would be hitting blocks and not just botnets. ASICs and GPUs make the network more secure, it is stupid to ignore that fact. This should be a scrypt coin and Max should fire these clueless devs.

2 hours in.
Bot net joins pool.
We aren't talking about creating a new network of zombie machines here, we are talking about people who can rent an existing botnet/use one they operate themselves. Depending on the individual download speed of each machine, we're looking at a matter of minutes before that machine is mining away. So how are they going to get the bots mining? Where will they get the code to mine from? You are assuming the devs release the code immediately on git. If they don't do you honestly think they can reverse engineer the code from an exe that quick? Is this guy trolling us? Another CPU only supporter, I assume.

I've got a job you presumptuous asshat. And I'll be more than happy to contribute to the hashrate if it's a CPU-only launch. More miners can get involved with a CPU-only launch, including everyone who normally mines with GPUs. I'll say it again just in case it didn't sink in the first time. If this is GPU at launch, half of the potential miners will walk away. Try being less greedy and leave something for normal people to mine. It's pretty clear what your motive is here.
I was being presumtious, I apologize. I didn't think anyone making such ignorant statements could actually hold a job. You are just another leech with no stake in the health of the alt coin network spewing moronic opinions. A truly pathetic individual. Botnets will own a CPU only coin. No matter what you believe. Sure, those of us who would like to give mining a try for the first time, who would like to be able contribute, who would like to have a stake in the health of the network, we're the leeches. And all the GPU farmers who are sad that they can't get an unfair advantage on this coin from the get-go, they're not leeches at all. Yeah, that makes perfect sense. Except for the part where you've got it completely backwards. You can jump in a week or two later, give the rest of us a chance first. So leave the coins future in the hands of 'first time miners' (and botnets of course) rather than an established infrastructure of experienced miners who have a clue on how a blockchain works? The unfair advantage argument is such BS - anyone can buy a card and mine. Trying to villainize those that have taken the financial risk to increase the alt coin hashrate that you use to trade alts is just plain moronic. On the other hand botnets, most of which operate on stolen resources will dominate the supply of a CPU coin which you have no problem with. You will not be mining more coins with a CPU only release, most are just too inexperienced to realize it.

gpu miner = bad idea. cpu only = good idea
gpu miner = secure network cpu only = botnet control Seriously, the CPU supporters are either quite ignorant or botnet ops. GPU Miner = GPU farm control. CPU Only = a fair chance for everyone. Seriously, the GPU supporters know they're only saying it's unsafe because they want the advantage at launch to get more coins. Botnets can still mine it either way. If you want to lose half of your potential miners because they can't compete with GPU miners, that's going to put more power into the hands of a minority. And you think your laptop can compete with botnet? Get a job, buy a card, and contribute to the alt coin hash rate rather than cry about it. Grow up kiddo.

+100 CPU ONLY first month There is no way to stop GPU later on so I agree CPU only in the beginning should be just fine. Just like it was with btc in the beginning. OK, so leave it to botnets to dominate the supply, dump, then terrorize the network and manipulate the price. Brilliant!

I think we have more than enough "noobs" to make the network secure.
Why you want to enrich criminals is beyond me. Botnets will rape this coin without GPU support.
|
|
|
Please do CPU only at start to keep things fair. I have a feeling a GPU miner will be special code so it will be difficult to tune correctly at the start.
Right, let's exclude those who have the ability to make the network more secure and leave it to the botnets and random ignorant noobs.

@limbaugh - as long as the market DOES NOT react drastically to any changes, I deem that a good thing. I prefer a stable price. And if you do not have faith in TAG, there are many other coins to spend your time and money. Why waste it on TAG eh?.. But if you do want to comment perhaps you could constructively suggest a better solution?..
Look, I have been a supporter of TAG from the start for the obvious reasons. Heck, I am still mining TAG. I just stated that I would not be surprised if there is a significant short term price drop with the announcement of the major feature change. If price speculation is not welcomed in this thread, it should be on the front page.

I don't see that market reacting positively to this drastic change. Good luck

Please remove tagcoin temporarily, it is very broken.

I am glad I sold all my TAG.
Looks like a good move. It may be beyond repair at this point.

Sadly... there has been no official support with this fix... how it will work... when will we know it is working... nothing... the silence from TAG HQ is deafening... sure I know we are all big boys and don't need our hands held all the time... but some official confirmation that the fix has been deployed... is working as expected... an ETA of when the fix has proved to be successful would have been nice... right now we are mining in the dark... not very confidence inspiring.
It does appear the dev has lost interest in TAG, and that there are 2 blockchains currently. What a mess....

Some folks were saying it seemed like they were on the wrong chain entirely Wtf that's not good, anyone else have some insight? Don't mine TAG until it is confirmed the fork issue is resolved.

No source? Who launches without the source? I would not touch this one.

Keiser supports crime with new coin release. Love it.
Criminal botnets love you now Max.
You need to fire the consultants for this coin.
|
|
|
Tl;dr - SHA-3 coin. Launches 7.30PM GMT on Wednesday 5th February 2014. More info to be seeded out via @MaxCoinProject. Not a fork of dogecoin. And the botnets will be there with bells on. Nice work d-bags. I guess crime does pay..
