421  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: is bityc.net scam? on: February 13, 2024, 10:49:17 AM
one of my friends told me that he has been trading on bityc.net platform and he made till now 30k , he started with 700$ and then he took a loan (3000$)
the platform support is asking him to pay 3k to a "binance wallet" claiming that the amount can not be withdrawn without payment for the 3rd party who provided or facilitated the Loan (binance).
No question needed, it is an obvious scam. There is no legit exchange that will ask payment in exchange to withdraw the money on that platform. If you will check this section Scam Accusations (which this thread belongs to) there are lots of the same scenario with this, its either a question before dealing the scammer or a question if the platform is legit because they have paid already the asked amount by the scammer.
422  Economy / Reputation / Re: Where do we draw a line? Signature campaigns or shilling campaigns on: February 13, 2024, 04:05:29 AM
It's quite reasonable, you are "hired" as a campaign participant as "indirectly/directly promoter" of that service/product, but you instead suggest the product of its competitors when you can also mention that product/service you are wearing as suggestions.
It's more like an SEO optimized article blog of top 10 xxx, mentioning other and your products but the difference is you have a link(signature campaign) to your product in "part" of your post.

In this forum, it's like an unwritten rule that "promoters" should do in a forum that avoid advertisements in their posts...

So the question is, should the forum introduce any rules on compelled/restricted posting, or do we let anything go, including shilling campaigns?
There is already forum rule about that, let me quote it with bold part.

Advertisements (including signatures within the post area) in posts aren't allowed unless the post is in a thread you started and is really substantial and useful.[9][e]
Shilling campaign is different for a single post/reply that engage discussion, answers a question and suggest a signature campaign-related product, its reasonable for a "campaign participant". Unless the poster blatantly spamming that product in off-topic way of posting.

424  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Is rabbit.io is the best way to swap crypto on: February 12, 2024, 03:15:52 PM
It's a web wallet, knowing web wallets are the most insecure way to keep your funds, i won't ever think twice to avoid it aside from that's still new and no reputation at all.

There's a Rabbit wallet on Playstore
It's different, the one mentioned by OP doesn't have any app, both mobile or desktop.

426  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: What after localbitcoins.com shutting down on: February 12, 2024, 02:24:51 PM
I think People can easily use the P2P platform available on Binance and other centralized exchanges. Why do they need other sites like localbitcoins etc for this purpose?

Also, I think that these sites have been losing business ever since the biggest exchange Binance has launched their P2P platform and that is very secure too.
Not everyone can legally access Binance and not all are fan of centralized exchanges that asks KYC. Besides localbitcoins are famous p2p platform on its prime years not until it asked KYC requirements which started its dooms day.
427  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: If I bet big I lose, but if I bet small I win on: February 12, 2024, 08:24:36 AM
Guys, do you often feel like me? when I raise the bet I lose and when I lower the bet I win. Does the casino system/algorithm know the betting patterns we make? So often when we bet big we are given a loss and when our bet is small we actually win, which is very annoying
You're not alone, i sometimes feel that way, but for me to prove that i wasn't cheated, betting in a probably fair game could ease my confusion and doubts. But i just feel cheated even it's a legit randomness of the outcome number.

Sounds like you have lots of collection of wallet.dat files to have that kind of numbers of bitcoin and yes unfortunately you don't any password of them and another unfortunately, there's no way for us to know snd we can't give you "password tips".

Checking your post history, i yes, i'm right you really have collections of them. Idk if you owned them or you just acquire them from someone you had bought. I can only say is, unfortunately, you were scammed. And on the other hand, no, you can't fool anyone here.
430  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: COINNMC [SCAM] [SCAM] [SCAM] on: February 08, 2024, 11:32:47 PM
Hi guys ! Thanks to this site, I didn’t contact such a scammer. Recently, one woman wrote to me, in a photo of Chinese appearance. She offered me a job with a good income, she is very friendly. I found her website that the owner is the same as the scammers you wrote
...
That's how a stranger woman profile in socmed do this trick. So many men got lured by friendly woman online. Good thing that you research first before doing things.
As for me, they are auto block unless she is someone i know or known in my circle of friends asking for legit help.

433  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: What is best way to maintain your privacy sending payment with Electrum wallet? on: February 05, 2024, 10:35:29 PM
Aside from all the mentioned above about privacy, its also worth mentioning that running your own bitcoin node also be able to help the bitcoin network become more secured and more decentralized. You can also make profit of it when you set it as Lightning node and charges routing fees as payments that go will through your channels.

But take note it needs resources (finance) to create one.
434  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: This was my highest risk. on: February 05, 2024, 10:21:40 PM
This is the highest risk I have ever taken on gamble.  :)Why I called this the highest risk was because if the remaining 2 games lose I will be the loser and not my friend, so that risk was very terrible but I just have to take the risk because I already have in mind that you can not win if you do not risk. But to cut long story short, I win the bet, this was like sharing the money equally with my friend.
So have you ever taken such a risk on gambe before?
Congrats for the win. But i suggest only do it if you think that the money you are betting is you can afford to lose, it could be a huge problem if you experience the opposite.
So, yeah, huge win comes with huge risk, but don't do always, you will regret it.
435  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Investment in gambling on: February 05, 2024, 10:05:13 PM
You are talking about the general term of gambling and investments (in life). What you are doing is not a gambling (in terms of entertainment) and it's not investment either. It's promoting scams, to scam more people. Imagine you keep depositing and inviting to have your account getting the profit when someone joins and deposited to that ponzi scheme.
In simple terms you are helping that ponzi platform to get rich and make more victim. So stop joining ponzi schemes.
436  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: CEX.IO does't let me to use my wallet on: February 04, 2024, 11:44:42 PM
16 days ago I've sent them 2 notary docs concerning selling&buying some appartments, proving my EU residence & source of income.
Since then - only my patience)
I was born in USSR - probably that is the reason of so long pause from CEX.io.
The only thing I want by now - to know exactly when will they answer.
I am ready to send them any of nessessary docs - during of my 11 years living in Bulgaria I got a lot of them.
That's quite irresponsible of them for letting you in hang without giving any update for that long time regardless of where is your location or your place of birth as long its not restricted and against their ToS.

by now the CEX.io account in this forum is offline, last seen 3 days ago.
Hope, tomorrow, monday, the start of the new week - they will come here and clean that case.
I expect them to reply and be active on weekdays.
437  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Some Cryptocurrency Abbreviation’s Terminologies on: February 03, 2024, 11:53:01 PM
This list is not "abbreviations" but just terminologies, if you're talking to crypto-related abbreviations, then it should be like FOMO, HODL, DeFI, DApp, ATH, KYC, ICO, `too many to mentions.

You can just tell list of terminology and don't include "abbreviations".

438  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: CEX.IO does't let me to use my wallet on: February 03, 2024, 11:46:21 PM
I hope so. But they also should:
1. inform me about verification estimated time
2. since I haven't been informed about that time - they should answer my questions concerning this issue
It's been how many days since you message them? I knew some exchange do mke like 1-5 days depends on the exchange, but sometimes' the result is within a day.

Just like everyone said, waiting is your top priority. You could follow up them in their social media handles https://www.facebook.com/CEX.IO and https://twitter.com/cex_io, lastly on their support page https://support.cex.io/en/
439  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Are you a generous gamblers on: February 03, 2024, 11:18:41 PM
I guess that guy found his purpose for sharing his winnings for treating his friends or anyone he likes to treat. As you've said, he's already a pensioner and his children are old as well and probably they're all professionals and that's why he has just found that purpose and that's nice to see he's not selfish and sharing the winnings he get.
I think about it too for an old (assuming because he is a pensioner already) and a person that has nothing to worry about financially related is quite generous not all but there are some when it comes to sharing what they had. While on the other hand, giving should not be always, people are greedy and prone to abuse, i hope the guy won't tolerate people if someone wants to abuse his generosity.
440  Other / Meta / Re: Methods of Signing your BTC address to prove your identity on: February 03, 2024, 11:02:20 PM
I am curious as to the exact process on how to sign/ prove ownership of a BTC address with how I have seen many users do it here in this section:
Think about it, every man who self-proclaimed that they are Satoshi Nakamoto can only be prove by signing a message with those address known to be owned by Satoshi, no ifs and no buts, if they can't then they are just want an attention. It's the same way how that thread works, but since there are already recovery team, it make so much easier to recover an account now than before.

Quote
Would signing that message in any way compomise the security of the private key? What are the drawbacks to doing this for ones security both of their keys and of their location?
Your question to chatgpt is out of this place, you only compromise your private keys if someone knows it other than you, so you need to save it to a secured and safe place. There's also no drawbacks in signing a message, location detection is something like providing a raw data of your latitude and longitude which is no way to be found on your keys.
