But wait, there's more!  WTC also seems to involve a multi-level marketing scheme adapted to MasterNodes, with side nodes and GrandMaster nodes...

If they make GrandMaster Flash nodes available then sign me up!

I really just wanted to say thanks for the analysis. I ran across this coin earlier while hunting the infamous, and not at all scarce, haiku bot and thought the idea was idiotic, and also noticed the lack of information on how to mine it. So, excellent work.

Also, that site in your sig is hilarious!

~snip - best pic ever on the bot/spammer problem

I literally just spent the last 2 minutes laughing!

It seems the word "Bitre" may be prompting this shitposting?
Yup, this thread seems to be triggering the very spambot it's complaining about. Cheesy

Hmm... the original thread was nuked and now all the homeless bots are coming here to ply their shitposting trade? Sure looks like it...  Undecided

Stop responding to Estrange18 - he's just doing a drive-by to spam for his sig campaign.

Some of these might fit: https://s.taobao.com/search?q=MSI+gaming+x%E9%A3%8E%E6%89%87&imgfile=&js=1&stats_click=search_radio_all%3A1&initiative_id=staobaoz_20180705&ie=utf8

Try to search "Brand Name" "Model name" 风扇 on taobao, in this case MSI Gaming X 风扇.

Loads of cheap stuff there, like $0.30 ethernet cat 6 cables, $2.50 risers. It does deliver quickly to Hong Kong, but I've tried sending stuff to Malaysia it takes 2-3 weeks.

Thanks, but how do I switch that site to English?

You don't - taobao is for domestic China, only.

YUP, GPU SUCKER it is. OTFLMAO!  No boss here, retired. Zero intelligence on that guess.

Retired from what? Kindergarten? You act like a bratty kid, not someone old enough (or successful enough) to have retired.

Here's one I found when checking the post history to see if the user was worthy of receiving a merit; unsurprisingly, he was not worthy:

because when the market is down the price of each cryptos are going down , it was affected , so many crypto are have been sold . ao the market os down , but when it is down it is the best time to buy tokens

I stumbled across this hilarious website that provides quick stats on coins like market cap, price and volume - http://www.doiownashitcoin.com/ - along with a snarky one-sentence rating.

...

"ETN - Not bad"
"BCN - HODL!!!"

Apparently, the page itself is a scam after all...

When I just tried plugging in BCN myself the rating it gave me was, "That's some solid shit right there," while for ETN it said, "You chose wisely," so treat its ratings as if they were from a fortune cookie (or a Magic 8-ball, which is how the user I found out about this from - R0mi - described it).

In other words, it's just a bit of fun, not a scam.

I stumbled across this hilarious website that provides quick stats on coins like market cap, price and volume - http://www.doiownashitcoin.com/ - along with a snarky one-sentence rating. Of course the first one I plugged into it was DERO, which was summarily dismissed as, "This is pure shit" Grin

Trying out a few of the other coins I've mined it gave the following results:

ZEN - HODL that shit
MUSIC - This is pure shit
ITNS - Wtf are you doing with this shitcoin?  Grin
TZC - You made a shit decision on this one
UBQ - To cut to the chase, yes, this shit, but not diarrhea.

I don’t know if you accept tragicomedies as a variant of comedy. Maybe you’ll create a thread just on this topic to separate the sweet from the sour. Anyway, here go a couple of the former variant which kind of make you laugh and sob at the same time:
...

No, these aren't funny at all; they're depressing, actually.

To be honest, forum would be a little boring place without all the shit-posts and drama. As much as I love the technical stuff on the forum, I occasionally sneak into threads for a some quick giggles.Off-topic section being my favourite.

Thread : Do you like fishing?

Genius :
i like fishing. i eat fish and rich is very sweet test.when rain come,we always together the pond and river catch the fish.much fish we catch that we are eating. we eat heavy fish than the other food.fish eating is good for health.

This, however, is comedy gold! I wonder if "heavy fish" means it has more mercury, like tuna?  Tongue

Some of the more widely discussed topics on inputs and groupings are that you would like to get your inputs grouped into several smaller ones rather than very few bigger ones. The thinking is the amount of time it takes to get an input to max age of 16 days would suck if you only had 1 or 2 inputs with large sums in each input.
...

This makes a lot of sense in the context of what AltScope previously wrote, but what is an ideal number of coins per input to earn a stake every 14-16 days? My seat-o-the-pants estimate is around 10000, understanding the PoS difficulty is not constant, etc.

432  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][TZC] TrezarCoin Super-Secure-PoW/PoS on: July 03, 2018, 01:13:37 PM
thats weird try restarting the wallet  Huh

the main concern I'd have with 2000 is the max age which I was wrong about its 16 days not 14 days, what that means is after 16 days they stop gaining age/weight. If you dont stake after 16 days you need to add more coins to get more weight and increase your chances of staking.

Restarting the wallet reset the minimum age to 0 which is what I expected to happen, so that appears to have done the trick.

Also, interesting point about needing sufficient coins to stake every 16 days, minimum, because coin-weight stops increasing after that time. I never really considered that before, but it makes perfect sense now that you pointed it out!  Tongue

So, a merit for your help! It ain't much, but it's something.

433  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] DERO: DAG + Cryptonote + Bulletproofs + SSL + POW + Smart Contracts on: July 03, 2018, 12:40:49 PM
I understand the desire to defend something you are emotionally/financially invested in, but if you are turning a blind eye to all of the problems that have transpired over the last 2 weeks then you are actually doing the project a disservice. No one is ever 100% right, 100% of the time, and that includes the DERO team. Dismissing questions or complaints as FUD is easy; coming up with well-reasoned rebuttals is much more difficult, but ultimately more valuable if your goal is to promote, much less improve, DERO.

What's the best way to condense your existing coin balance down to one input?
...

use coincontrol select all inputs and send them to an address you control (even the adress their in is fine) if you want to join your inputs into 1.
personally I wouldnt bother if you hit a block the wallet should rejoin your inputs, max stake age is 14 days if memory serves so tbh the chances of getting a reward with 2k are slim regardless of how you've got them split on average my 185k coins only stake once per day so I'd say you need more coins rather than one input

Hmm, this made absolutely no sense when I first read it, but fortunately I am very curious and prone to getting into trouble because of it so I went poking around the wallet and found an option called "enable coin control beta." After enabling it I then pressed the "coin control" button and selected both addresses that received payments from mining as inputs (tree mode) then went back to the send screen and sent the entire balance, minus a 0.26 TZC Tx fee, to the first mining address. The wallet asked me to confirm paying the "higher than normal" fee and the only indications something happened were that the fee showed up in recent payments, my balance was marked as unconfirmed and my wallet stopped staking.

After the balance was confirmed I re-enabled staking then checked the Penrose triangle and it still says I have 151 inputs weighing 29832 coin days?! So it looks like nothing happened, except when I go back to coin control it now says all of my coins are in one address, not two, and that there is only one input. So something happened - besides paying a 0.26 TZC fee - but I'm not sure whether there was any point to it or not?

Oh, and I know that my 2k coins won't receive a stake very often, but based on comments in this thread I've inferred it should happen every 90 days or so; I'm cool with that.

435  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][TZC] TrezarCoin Super-Secure-PoW/PoS on: July 02, 2018, 07:03:10 PM
Does this mean the wallet will finally give us an estimate of the time to receive a block from staking?

Or do you guys like answering the same "when stake?" question on every page of this thread?  Grin

I don't believe there is an exact number, since you're playing the averages game with PoS staking.

Of course there isn't an exact number; that's why I wrote, "an estimate of the time to receive a block" and not an exact date. Don't make me seem like more of an idiot than I actually am!  Tongue

How many inputs do you have your coins grouped into? Do you have 100 inputs of 100 coins? Then see above.. Highly unlikely to hit 1x per year.

I keep seeing reference to this inputs thing and to be honest, I don't think I ever understood it correctly in the context of TZC (which seems to use a slightly different definition of an input than, say, BTC). What's the best way to condense your existing coin balance down to one input? Send it all to another address in your wallet or what? I have 2000 TZC spread across 151 inputs and based on what you just wrote above - and what, e.g., @statt has written previously - this is supremely bad for staking.

How about a triple shitpost combo? We got ourselves here a shitposter replying to a shitposter who replied to the most infamous shitpost of them all: "great project"!

Great Project
a great project indeed, smart city eco is the platform that our community needs.
this brings us innovation at its finest. really, one platform with bunch of different industries?
smart city eco really did this good. very amazing work!

Maybe @snkiworld was too speechless about this project, lol.
This project was so impressive on how they concern on different ages of entertainment.
I’m into this project, very good concept and idea. Must invest on this project.

The first sentence in the last reply was almost intelligible. Those last two sentences, though; not so much.

437  Other / Meta / Re: How did you lost your bitcointalk account? on: July 02, 2018, 01:26:30 PM

if by, "weird," you really mean, "totally inapplicable," then sure... Your originally account appears to have been temp-banned after being inactive for 1 year, and back when you were active you were a shitposter by all accounts, so, not really seeing the relevance to the current discussion.

Basically the difficulty dropped a bit and we found out about the fire a few months later. And to make matters worse they didn't even have insurance for the farm, so it was a total loss.
...

That's probably because Chinese insurance is probably about as useful as a Chinese product warranty... <rimshot!>

I've said it before and I'll say it again: good technology - even the best technology - won't save you if you alienate your supporters and flake out on most of your goals, promises and commitments.

You've got your point right, even I may understand the reasons pointed to keep ASIC friendly, but the feeling that I was deceived has not yet passed....

I, too, ended up coming around on the reasoning behind sticking with original Cryptonight, but after thinking on it some more I identified a few other potential problems:

* There are no new CN ASICs for sale - after Monero forked all of the ASIC manufacturers scrapped plans to make additional batches. Consequently there is a finite number of ASICs out there that could be used to secure the network, and by all accounts a good fraction of those have simply been turned off (just a couple weeks ago DERO was flirting with 2GH/s - yes, 2000MH/s; now it is <500MH/s).

* That finite number of ASICs will dwindle over time as they begin to fail, and fail they will since the manufacturers typically expect them to be profitable to operate for just a few months at most; ie, reliability and a long lifespan aren't top design priorities.

* Miners like me with a few CPUs/GPUs have to take a more long-term approach to projects if for no other reason than our hardware wouldn't earn very much if we sold what we mined on a daily or weekly basis. For example, I have all of my CN-optimized hardware mining ITNS because their project intends to do something unique (a distributed, peer-to-peer VPN service that you pay for with crypto), but it is almost never the most profitable CN-variant coin to mine.

That said, I still agree that hidden mining via private FPGAs - and even ASICs - is a potentially serious problem, and that forking every few months to head them off is not, perhaps, as practical of a solution as I once thought it was. That doesn't excuse the haphazard way the DERO team decided to stick with CN, nor the hamfisted way it has dealt with those of us who were deeply disappointed at this abrupt change of face.

A bit dumb question
Last 2 months was not paying attention to Dero project... so can I simply get new binaries, start it and point to my wallet?
:/

Not quite. You do need to get new binaries from http://seeds.dero.io/atlantis/ (no difference between the plainly named versions and the ones with atlantis in the name), but the database format is different so either sync from 0 or else download a snapshot from the /blockchain folder. Next you will need to recreate your wallet by restoring from seed (use the save seed command in the old wallet if you haven't already done so for backup purposes then use the restore from seed command in the new wallet after the daemon finishes syncing).

Note there is a bug in the Windows binaries that (sometimes? always?) adds an "m" to the beginning of the first word in the seed, so correct if necessary.
