422  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I just turned 40 today and want to be part in BTC Community (Beginner) on: October 20, 2019, 01:03:07 PM
It's my 40th birthday today and I am completely new to crypto since my country of origin is less progressive.

Anyway, I equipped my knowledge 1st before entering into something, most specially with money. I knew the basics on how the system of blockchain works and how the consensus is achieved and how the miners or stakers are rewarded. I have only one concern or doubt tho'(i guess) that why there are plenty of coins out there? I know you'll answer they have different usage like xrp/xlm for easy payment methods, steem for social media websites, eth/ada for smart contracts, etc...

If you look at current system with gold and fiat, can the crypto space be the same? Gold=BTC and FIAT=Altcoin?

My point is to remove the competition from BTC and other crypto in finding the one who dominates all, why not BTC be the Gold and Altcoins be the FIAT...

I'm so sorry for my English and if the thought is very confusing, please anyone can rephrase my question freely if you know what i mean.

NEW to crypto and aging as well but very excited for innovation one specially an innovation to recreate the financial system (or fully ditch fiat), i hate the idea of printing money.
Disclaimer: I am not a lawyer or financial adviser. I'm here to post my personal opinion. If seeking a lawyer or financial advice, please contact your local professional/specialist for these services.

Happy birthday, I have a present for you, I will share with  you a few gems. There happens to be no age limit or restriction for learning about the Blockchain infrastructure and crypto currency, you're already one step ahead of billions of people by taking the initiative to educate oneself about the latest in financial and accounting tech innovations.
Getting in early as an adopter is key. You already missed a few trips to the moon, but that's ok, the crypto economy is still in its infancy, so theres still time to speculate, trade and invest.
Welcome to the community, remember to always practice your Due Diligence!
423  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin May Extinct on: October 20, 2019, 12:16:20 AM
Gents, Am I the only one thinks that bitcoin can be erased in the same way it is created? Dont you think any attack can kill it?

https://hackernoon.com/bitcoins-biggest-hack-in-history-184-4-ded46310d4ef

If this happened, anything can.
What will happen after satoshi dies?
What will happen when bitcoin stands alone.
What will happen if it is banned globally?
What if goverments start working on killing bitcoin?
Dont you think goverments can work on it to kill it?

Btc is not like gold. You cant make the gold disappear suddenly as it is possible for btc. I am a fan of btc but I am also scared. It should be protected but who will do it? Exchanges? The top btc holder?

I wouldn't worry much, if it does happen, another evangelical techno savior like Satoshi will appear with a new idea. If Block-chain was never made to be an open source code, the crypto markets as we know them today wouldn't be here. The whole theme was decentralization, I doubt the idea would die with bitcoin, I'm certain another decentralized medium of exchange will rise within its place. Bitcoins proof of work is simply the proof of concept for the block-chain. Satoshi most likely just wanted to demonstrate the system so that others would piggy back and brainstorm new ideas to add on to the Blockchain infrastructure. I mean, why else would it be an open source code project, if it wasn't to encourage others to contribute to the idea?
424  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Day Trading or Long-term Hodl? on: October 19, 2019, 11:58:40 PM
It's really difficult to say, I think it's a subjective matter that entails personal preferences and bias as to Hodl/Day trade or both. In my opinion, it's good to do a little of both as their is nothing wrong with diversifying your investments. What may work for some will not all ways work for others, because some rather day trade, others want to hold, and few do both.
425  Other / Meta / Re: Is "Merit" and "ranking" -a special gold and silver meant few on BTT? on: October 19, 2019, 04:35:14 PM
I have been up and running lately on Bitcointalk cos of the much like i have for it, even mere the name is a turn on for me. After skimming through the community rules, I couldn't assimilate a part that deals with "the merit and ranking". So, I thought asking on here would give me the perfect answer i seek.

More so, I see often, some newbies having good amount of merits and wondered how they got it even while my activity is more than theirs. I am here to ask if anyone can please open my eyes to what i need to do to earn some merits or something I just need to lodge some cryptos and have my account overflown with it?
The merit system is pretty heavy stuff. Users have limited supply of sMerrit, I had ran out within a few days of receiving it when the system was first introduced and it was never replenished. I see a lot of good posts and threads but can't tip them merit because I don't have any  Huh. It really pushes the user to improve their post quality and grind to move up in rank. I have given up on chasing merit, but I still try to practice the Due Diligence of improving my post quality regardless.
426  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Early investors and adopters backing out or losing their hope is a warning sign. on: October 19, 2019, 04:25:23 PM
I think people might be a little disgruntled being that the Bitcoin price seems to have stagnated, refusing to rise above $10k again. A few years back we had seen record highs for the price which was nearing $20k, then the bubble popped and it deflated pretty low. It may have been just a pump that brought in a wave of liquidity into the market, I'm not sure though. It was the fear and uncertainty that led to the panic selling. I think the new price reflects that the market is starting to stabilize some, correcting itself from the previous inflation.

Just my two cents!   Smiley
427  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Propagating bitcoin among indigenous populace on: October 19, 2019, 04:13:07 PM
I believe knowledge is power and this also applies to any ventured investment. Understanding one's indigenous environment first can help to establish and harness strategies on how to dispense information about bitcoin especially on the country economic stronghold amidst exploring the vastness of trade and building currency value. Finally, creating more platforms like this and involving the indigenous media with the true value that bitcoin as a crypto portrays will be of great economic help to the community and the nation at large.
I think this task is much easier said then done. Indigenous peoples aren't adept to modern society and may be the most difficult to sway. Their is a huge barrier of communication between modern society and the indigenous. They see the world within a different light and some are even willing to die in order to preserve it that way, being they've survived this long on nothing but their moral/ethical values passed down from their societies tradition.
It may be easier to try and reach first those who are modernized within today's customs of society but perhaps focus on those who are in remote rural areas or the impoverished, who may not have access to the same mediums we use to interface with crypto-currency.
428  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why bitcoin can not become a global currency on: October 16, 2019, 08:20:38 PM
Hi, Gents,

I think there has to be a way to create a tracking system for bitcoin. Every wallet must contain ids. Otherwise, bitcoin can be always used for money laundering. If you want to launder money, you can find a cash seller everywhere. After bitcoin is bought, noone can prove whose bitcoin it is. I think this is the only think that preventing bitcoin to become a global currency. Do you think it would worth this much if it is trackable. I dont think so. There will be altcoins that work with tracking system and ids. They will become a global currency. Bitcoin? I think never. What do you think?
I think Bitcoin and the Blockchain are the archetype in which a global cryptocurrency may spring from. A few years ago it was just Bitcoin, Litecoin and a few others. Now we have Ethereum, Neo, Eos etc. All of these projects came about from the work and brainstorming of ideas inspired by Blockchain and Bitcoin. In the future, who is to say what new coin or token may arise to be the world currency, it might not even be a coin or token?  Huh Only time will tell, I hope that what ever it is, it's digital!
429  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin as Safe Haven? on: October 16, 2019, 08:13:48 PM
If Bitcoin is supposed to be a safe haven, why is BTC price keeps going down, down, and down while the world is on fire. The news that Turkey just invaded Syria should be positive news for Bitcoin. Oh, Iraqis going at it, Hong Kong, Haiti. What's going on folks? In a sea of red today, DECENTRALAND (MANA) price is up 4.5%.
Safe haven by no means, never go all in hoping for security, it's a foolish way to lose the shirt off of your back. Bitcoin is in the regulation stage at the moment, I do believe that if we want the market to grow naturally  then we need a seamless integration with institutional investors and regulatory authorities. As of right now the guidance from the law bodies are coming in slowly. The IRS just issued a guidance recently, something a lot of people have been waiting on. There is also the SEC, their the guys cracking down on the ICO's that could potentially be considered as securities. Also there is the CFTC and the treasury as well.
I really can't think of all the big governmental bodies involved, but the more guidance issued, the easier it will be to navigate safely and compliantly.

Just my two cents, off course!
Take it with a grain of salt and remember to practice you're Due Diligence!  Wink
430  Other / Off-topic / Re: Money Washing on: October 16, 2019, 07:58:39 PM
I need someone that can help me was a really big amount of money, im a kid and i made money crypto trading and using a really good bustabit script and now i have around 729.051.200 or something like that, gambling is illegal in my country if you are not over 18. Please dont come up with jokes, and only talk to me in private.
I say this not to try to sound discouraging or be negative in any way but look my friend, what you're doing is asking people to incriminate themselves by showing you how to launder cryptocurrency because you claimed to be a kid, but at least you're aware of the legal implications. I'd edit this thread topic and your original post a bit before it ends up getting deleted or possibly your screen name banned.  Wink
431  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Bounty talkies on: October 16, 2019, 02:53:20 PM
Since i have been hunting for bounties in 2018 sadly i haven't been able to make a penny from any project and till date the only bounty project that almost favour me was miracle tele, i choose a bad decision by decided to hodl, hunters who sold very quickly are the lucky ones are,the reason why i made this post is to ask if there is bounties since 2018 that did very well excluding Gowithmi project

I heard Vidycoin did well and i remember they did bounty last year 2018,is there anyone one here who participated?
Same as mb8coin,anybody?
There are numerous opportunities here on the forum, but you have to increase you're rank in order to really benefit here. Also, you should research heavily before you invest time and energy  into a bounty campaign.
We're in a bear market, so any project promising a token or coin being a certain monetary value before it even hits the exchange, should alert you that you need to be cautious, taking any potential earning with a bounty campaign, with just a grain of salt ( i.e don't set hopes too high), because the coin may not soar up high right out of the gate during it's initial release.
Another thing is that a lot of these projects offer little to no real innovation and are either clones or alternative projects being their may already be a number of similar projects within the market.

Example: How many forks of bitcoin will there be? For the first few, people made out decent on receiving forked coins, making a nice profit, but now the market is flooded with forks that are either clones or offer little to no new innovation.

It's really not so different a path that many of these startups take. Very few offer true alternative services or innovation that separates them from the other clones. Don't get me wrong now, there are plenty of projects that offer some killer innovation, but finding one that also offers a decent bounty campaign is rare these days, like a unicorn. They call us bounty "hunters" for a reason  Wink.

So keep searching my friend for that hidden gem and good luck on you're future endeavors!

433  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin - Store of Value or Method of Payment on: October 13, 2019, 11:40:57 AM
I've recently meditated on this thought. We all want businesses to adopt bitcoin as a payment method and people to pay with it, but I think most people are rather avoiding to spend their BTC as they see it more as a store of value that will bring wealth to them over the next years. So they are more likely to keep their BTCs and spend the fiat currency, thus the use of BTC in day-to-day transactions won't probably go up until people actually get their wages in Bitcoin denomination. But in order for companies to enable that so it will be convenient for both the employee and the employer we need to have the infrastructure in place, including regulations and major stores in the cities accepting BTC.

What's your thoughts on this? Do people prefer to spend their BTC or do anything( maybe even taking a loan) to protect them?
In my opinion, I'm hodling for dear life, till the ship sinks, I'll stay with the band for the last song and dance.  There's nothing wrong with making a few transactions for retail purposes, or other needs for services and what not. I agree that Bitcoin needs more infrastructure and institutional adoption. I thought that Libra would answer that call, but it hasn't even made it out the gates yet, but what a horse,Go sea-biscuit!
434  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Unicef now accepting donations through bitcoin and ether on: October 13, 2019, 11:35:12 AM
Use of cryptocurrencies allows children’s agency to bypass fees of moving cash overseas quickly and increase financial transparency.

Read more about it by clicking here.

This is great new, the adoption by institutional investors seems painstakingly slow but never the less, it''s still adoption. The more the larger institutions start to become more acceptable toward cryptocurrency, the stronger and more solid the crypto economy becomes. The banks and other major centers of money just may be the last to actually make the turn around, and start adopting.

436  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A Community With No Libra, Bakkt, ETFs and Institutions on: October 12, 2019, 10:33:06 PM
The topic describes the issue for us. For us to become a decentralized, we should focus more on mass adoption. I know these may provide some mass adoption but with centralized adoption, it is useless and contradiction for bitcoin itself.
I really believe within my heart that Libra would have been thee perfect project (regardless of being centralized) that would help raise a significant amount of awareness towards the block-chain and cryptocurrency in general, helping encourage its mass adoption.
Facebook is globally recognizable, they have a reach around the planet. If Libra were to have been successfully, I think people would inevitably start checking out other cryptocurrencies, everyone including their granny will have some what of an idea about what cryptocurrency is and how it's used.

Community still believes in Ethereum 2.0 despite scaling challenges

Quote

At the 2019 Devcon in Japan, the Ethereum community was optimistic about the launch of the network’s second iteration, seemingly untouched by the latest controversy surrounding claims made by Ethereum’s founders about its inability to scale and grow.

https://cryptoslate.com/community-still-believes-in-ethereum-2-0-despite-scaling-challenges/

Oh yes, I think ETH 2.0 will really bring some positive vibes in the ecosystem. Lots of enthusiasts are waiting for this specially solving the scaling issue which Ethereum has been facing specially in the last two years or so. I believed that they really very serious in tackling it, that's why they are busy promoting this ETH 2.0.

What are your thoughts about this one? Do you think that we will see some bull run when ETH 2.0 are released early next year?
Ethereum really took the Bitcoin model and revamped it well, keeping it true to it's original design (i.e being open source & decentralized). I think Ethereum is the closet thing to being a Bitcoin 2.0. I can see why people have faith and believe in the project so much, despite scaling issues, old consensus algorithms or any other shortcomings, because it is an excellent project, has a good team, and a very strong community.

Should we assume the project is dead?

I was about to reserve $500 worth of GRAM tokens on Crypterium or some exchange, but at this point i think it's not advisable.
What do you suggest ?
Looks like trouble is afoot, I knew it was only a matter of time before we would see bigger ICO projects being ousted by the regulators. Great article, I wonder if they really are securities or utility tokens? They say simply listing your token as a utility isn't enough to proceed and start to raise capital thru crowdfunding. I guess it would be safer for startups to actually reach out to the S.E.C first, just to be sure the company's token is compliant and doesn't get them into any legal trouble. Seems a bit of a stretch, but worth it in the long run!
439  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC To 100K$ by 2025 on: October 12, 2019, 10:08:09 PM
If they sell that way does not mean that they won't get reach. Being rich is accumulation of profit and you can either sell and rebuy that guarantees a ROI. Also trading can give profit little and gradually.
Nothing wrong with a little dreaming, but realistically it may be much lower. I really can't say but  I certainly hope the price is at least around $30k or better, with reasonable hope that the regulators are able to cooperate and issue clearer guidance on how to maneuver these legal waters.

will libra still continue ...? why one by one partner liba drop out.? https://twitter.com/coindesk/status/1182747730248118280?s=21
The regulators aren't ready to work out a compromise yet, as I personally believe it is too early for crypto adoption amongst the masses, I mean, we haven't even fully integrated crypto into the current fabric of the regulatory systems yet, it seems quite divided between different governmental bodies, some say this, others say that, etc.
