4341  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Add these tools to your trading toolbox. on: June 19, 2020, 01:23:20 PM
Nice compilation, I just recently started learning more about trading and I'm currently using the tools shared by @BitMaxz (I came a across them on an earlier thread on BnH) and they have been really helpful in my journey so far. Out of the ones you listed, I sometimes use blockfolio, but I find myself visiting it less often it recently as it develops bugs which results in wrong prices also buy/sells have to be manually entered. I'll check out the other resources you highlighted.
4342  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What is your main goal... ? on: June 19, 2020, 12:33:29 PM
If people added up how much time they waste earning a pittance with faucets etc vs devoting the same amount of time to a normal job and buying coins with what they earn they'd figure out they would end up with a whole lot more.
But it's not as easy & simple as completing a 5-char captcha and clicking a "Claim" button or joining a Telegram group & listing your ERC-20 address somewhere in a Bounty thread, is it?

Some people spam such services in a bid to multiply the little payments attached to it, this could take a lot of time, creating different email addresses and accounts and when compared to putting that time in productive work it still falls short. There's the other risk of exposure to scams, in a bid on o get free stuffs people ignore actual knowledge about what they are doing and risk falling victim to cheap scams, such as; send 0.01BTC to claim 0.1BTC instantly.

Productive effort, even with no immediate gain will always be more rewarding in the long run.
4343  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: i have a thread on btt can I check how many subscribers I have on my thread/post on: June 19, 2020, 10:32:32 AM
Are you asking if you can check how many users clicked the notify option for your posts? That's not possible on the forum, you can only check the number of views on your posts as mentioned above, you can also find it besides your topic title when viewing a thread;

You should note that the number are not unique viewers, but the overall number of views, so if you enter your thread multiple times they all count.
4344  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: bitcoin/bitcointalk.org Races Stats Animation - all in one thread on: June 19, 2020, 10:04:56 AM
Any graph that involves merit sources should have those lines "glow" so we can separate them from the non-sources easily.
This would not be possible as not all sources have publicly admitted that they are.
Another idea would be a graph of merit against activity, to show how quickly one earned merits based on their activity score it could also be used to check how long one stayed at a particular rank. I would imagine satoshi would have a straight line (merit growth)
I don't know if this could be made into a group data or per-user.
4345  Economy / Speculation / Re: What’s next if bitcoin breaks $9,270 ? on: June 19, 2020, 07:29:56 AM
Not every figure is significant in the price movements of Bitcoin, $9,270 is not a support level as yet, the price has bee hovering within the $9k range, once going above $10k but without sufficient support levels it dropped back down, same way we have gone below $9k but the support levels were higher now in comparison and we bounced right back.

The drops is trading volume is keeping me on the bearish side and except we build up some volume over the next few weeks we could remain within the $9-10k cycle, or maybe it drops lower, I however don't expect us to go below $8k.
4346  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2019/20 on: June 18, 2020, 10:06:54 PM
Full time score, 3:0 Real Madrid were quite dominant in this game Another assist for Hazard following up from the last game and nice of Asensio to get a goal and an assist, as they mount pressure on Barcelona at the top.

Real Sociedad who have seen their top four spot slip away since the resumption of the league desperately need a win in their next fixture against Real Madrid, they're chasing their first UCL spot in about six years but but with their recent draw and defeat, they face a difficult task of turning their season around.
4347  Other / Meta / Re: [LIST]Open Merit Source Applications,waiting list. on: June 18, 2020, 08:09:31 PM
Is there any badge for merit sources, or some plans to add this in future?
No, there's no badge for merit sources, and there's probably no plan to add this;
there's a huge difference between showing up in a "list of probable merit sources" and having a quote out there of you basically saying "I'm a merit source, come beg me for merit, complain about every merit I send, and accuse me of being part of the anti-X/pro-Y conspiracy."

The list of merit sources is also not made public, it's a voluntary position and there's no need to expose them to scrutiny, anyone paying attention would likely know who they are eventually, but the spammers are not really doing that.
4348  Other / Meta / Re: Allowing NEWBIES to keep flooding and handling scam projects On Bitcointalk on: June 18, 2020, 05:50:40 AM
I went through some of the links and not all are handling bounty projects, some are sharing bounty projects on a different platform, some projects also wish to handle their campaigns themselves without hiring anyone and this should be allowed. The forum does not encourage strict standards as they are limiting.
A newbie account should ideally hire a highly trusted escrow to hold the funds.
One has a choice of whether or not to join a project advertised by a newbie or a higher ranked member, putting a restriction on newbie members or making strict rules are things theymos might not want to do;
The things on the forum which encourage spam are allowed mainly because it's part of the forum's mission to be as free as possible.
...
Limiting newbie participation is very harmful for a community. Newbie jail will never return: I consider the newbie-jail period to have been extremely damaging to the forum
4349  Economy / Economics / Re: Using old method in a small scale business (developing countries) on: June 17, 2020, 07:47:23 PM
The issue is many small and medium enterprises in developing countries are designed to simply be self sustaining and provide some profit for the owner, they ignore so many ways of scaling their business in a bid to keep it original or the fear of modernizing their modus operandi.
It's however possible to add modern ideas and get keep your business original and appealing to the locals.
A small scale tailor for example, may limit his/her designs to only those within their locality, as that's the popular design there,  limitng the business. Having an online presence could easily increase the reach of the business and force them out of their comfort zone while advertising their local designs to other regions, you can also use it as a tool to monitor the performance of your business using KPIs

But before scaling a business, it must have accurate book keeping records, and should be an entity of it's own. One of the first questions investors ask during a pitch is how has your business been managed so far and where you want to take it to.
4350  Economy / Economics / Re: Projected GDP figures look like an interesting find on: June 17, 2020, 07:14:23 PM
I agree with @mu_enrico attempting to predict the average GDP growth of regions in the future is usually misleading after a long time and 2050 is a long time from now.

Their predictions could likely be based on expansion of factors such as population count (and average growth), technology and natural resources, but, it can also be affected by unforseen circumstances such as the current pandemic or the rising tensions between China and India. I woul like to see the prejections for Rwanda and Indonesia.
4351  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: A thought regarding sig camp applications on: June 17, 2020, 01:06:16 PM
Different managers have different modes of operation and how they select participants for their campaigns. Most use posting quality, some prioritize certain boards while some blacklist some boards. The posting style of the user is the first criteria most managers use and this information is available on the users BT profile, along with other recent data.
If data from bpip is necessary the manager can always check that themselves.

This topic would be suited in the service discussion board, the option to move it is at the bottom left corner of this thread.
4352  Economy / Economics / Re: Economic Impact Of Commercial Space Exploration on: June 17, 2020, 08:24:35 AM
Update: Elon Musk, the founder of SpaceX reported few hours ago through his Twitter handle that they are currently building spaceports to facilitate interplanetary movements as well as launches within earth
SpaceX is building floating, superheavy-class spaceports for Mars, moon & hypersonic travel around Earth
In a later comment, he wrote that; the first Earth to earth test flight could happen in two or three years.
His tweet was a response to a report that they were hiring Offshore Operation Engineers in Brownsville

As I predicted in the OP, this project is already creating more jobs (although it's still within a very nice area) but with further growth it could widen

Hypersonic trips would cut down travel time greatly, if you're not in a particular hurry you'll likely be taking regular flights, buy how do you think this can affect transportation?
4353  Other / Meta / Re: Don't give up on the Noob you encounter on the forum, help them BUIDL. on: June 17, 2020, 07:07:52 AM
Congrats on reaching legendary rank, you've had the needed merits for a while now, and now have the required activity.
This forum is an amazing community if one would stick around long enough to find out. It's a repository of knowledge on crypto currency as well as other niche areas and the discussions I engage on here has improved me in real life, I'm still a newbie in many aspects, but I have learnt a lot during my time on the forum.

Just as other members shouldn't give up on noobs, new members should also not give up on the forum. Some join in, aiming for quick rewards with minimal effort but on realizing that such no longer exists they quit.
How you got introduced to the forum doesn't really matter, a lot of users had a wrong idea of the forum when registering but they stick around and are now reputable members.
With a desire to learn and effort anyone can grow on the forum.
4354  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread (EPL) on: June 17, 2020, 06:29:54 AM
I've been very optimistic about Sheffield United all season and would be backing them to get the first victory of the return to EPL football as they travel to the Villa Park. Sheffield has only lost twice on the road and those defeats came against Liverpool and City who are the best two clubs in the league. 2.25 odds on a Sheffield win, adding O 2.5 goals on the arsenal-city fixture later could b nice picks for a parley.

On the Coutinho issue; he shouldn't be a pariah because of his decision to move to Spain. Football is a passion for players and fans, but for the players it's also professional and they have to make decisions to boost their careers, a move to one of the best teams in Europe was exciting to the Brazilian at the time and if he wants to return to Liverpool now and they need his services, then by all means the transfer should happen.

I think it would be better to specify in the spot numbers that the first ten digits has a "0" behind them, this would make it clearer, as two numbers for the latest hash are used to decide the winner;

4356  Economy / Economics / Re: Current Food Shortage and Economic Decline Caused by Pandemic on: June 16, 2020, 04:07:23 PM
What will be the solution for this?
A vaccine would be nice, but while waiting for that, the global population should adhere to health regulations inorder to reduce the effect of a second wave of the virus; social distancing, washing your hands, not touching your face. The government also has a role to play by providing PPE for the general population. Price of face masks spiked in prices in some regions due to demand and not everyone can get them or afford to dispose them after use.

• Sensitization exercises should be intensified to ensure everyone is keeping to health guidelines. This is a global effort and needs the contribution of everyone
• Inventing cheap hacks which would be effective in preventing the spread, such as the use of cloth face masks which are a lot cheaper than the N-95's and can be effective when combined with other preventive measures.

How we can help our government on this current circumstances?
As mentioned above keeping to health guidelines is our best action.

Does bitcoin or any digital currency could help?
Bitcoin does not impact the economy, it is rather affected by it. Government fiscal policies and market sentiments are the main factors that influences that.
4357  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: New to BTC on: June 16, 2020, 05:05:17 AM
1. How did BTC increase in value to current values from first BTC? compared to stocks/ shares etc.these have underlying value based on income, assets etc.
Traders speculate on the value, it was greatly undervalued when it was first created as few people understood the technicalities of it, as more people got interested demand rose and so did the value.
Bitcoin also has an intrinsic value that is gotten from the cost of mining them.

2. for future BTC growth, if more people hold on to BTC as an "investment" than use it, does not present any issues?
As long as it has speculative value and potential to grow people are going to hodl, it would be a while before Bitcoin matures into a widely accepted medium of payments, and at that point users would have to spend it

3. Volatility and purchasing power - isn't this a potential issue? If I bought a car for example for 50BTC, and the current fiat value was worth $ 50 000, but then in a years time the BTC value halves (or doubles), does that not mess around with underlying value of anything significant you may buy with BTC?
Just like the scenario of the pizza that was bought with 10,000BTC about ten years ago which was worth about $41 then, but is worth millions of dollars now. This did not make the price of pizzas to skyrocket. So, I do not have think the underlying value of a product purchased with bitcoin is affected by a price movements.
4358  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoins can hit either $8k or bounce back to $10k - volatile times are back? on: June 15, 2020, 03:16:51 PM
The moral of this story is not to sell your bitcoins because it’s falling or because people are claiming that it’ll fall, rather one should assess the situation and then hodl on to their coins, as they’ll be rewarded in the long run for holding their bitcoins.
An investor should not be too concerned about daily price movements, especially when you are in for the long-term. The only time you incur a loss is when you panic sell, the fundamentals of Bitcoin is solid support to ensure the price rises again.

The market volatility is again growing, and the trading volume is still low, so we could see more quick movements over the next couple of days.
4359  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: The dangers and threat of using Self destruct Private Notes on: June 15, 2020, 07:00:13 AM
Part of the link also reported that the fake site uses Google search engine to advertise;
Quote
As if the two websites' exceedingly similar names and appearance weren't obvious, the Privnotes clone added ads in Google Search to have their result outrank the "organic" results.

That means any time a user would search for "privnote(s)" Google would show the (fake) Privnotes.com ad first, as shown below.
You should not trust Google search engines and their results, it seems they do the minimum to check for the authenticity of the sites they promote on their results pages. With a high enough bid and fake traffic any site can get to the top of their list, including fake ones.

Do not also send your private keys on any online platform, there is no reason at all to send your private keys to someone over the internet. If you wish to transfer the balance of an address, let the other party create a new address and you send the funds to them.
Also check more than the first few digits when copying and pasting an address to ensure it wasn't changed by a malicious site or clipboard hijacker.
4360  Other / Meta / Re: Stickied thread exemption from becoming an old thread? on: June 14, 2020, 12:33:54 PM
I share your sentiment, but, the thread literally shows up at the top of the first page so I would assume the posting gap would not factor in. The 120 day warning would be for posts which has been discussed extensively and may no longer be relevant at the time.
It would also be confusing for new members to get such a warning message when replying to the first post in a board.
