...

Same as I, the word 'passion' is a little overbeaten I my opinion. I have a passion for drawing and painting, but can not draw if my life depended on it, so I shifted my passion for art to making music, and learning instruments. It gives me a sense of satisfaction to create something out of my imagination.
I think there has to be a compromise at some point, especially with real life situations and circumstances we face daily.
By all means pursue your dream with as much determination as possible (and a little more). Until you find that dream, keep searching and have a contingency plan.
5282  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Project Opportunities "Too good to be true" on: August 03, 2019, 04:52:12 AM
Once a paycheck does not come in, that's a huge red flag. Any developer or lead entrepreneur's first job is the payment of his/her staff, this should be prioritized over their own welfare.

In a recent post I made, I shared a criterion I use when choosing ventures: everything is a scam until proven otherwise.
This story is an example of what most scammers do, convince real people to join them, and then leverage on those real people to convince others.
Always do your research!
5283  Other / Meta / Re: Are self-moderated threads censorship? on: August 02, 2019, 07:17:38 AM
Self-moderation is to prevent spam

It's not necessarily to reduce spam, as the OP wrote, it allows the three starter to personally moderate his/her post based on their own rules which may be different from forum rules.
Reason why you are advised to start your own thread if you do not want to be moderated by a forum member.
5284  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to get merit to a newbie, Like me on: August 02, 2019, 06:31:59 AM
If after just a few minutes on the forum, you're looking at how to get merits, we should assume you have had prior knowledge about how the forum works and the use of merits.
All you need to do is do a lot more reading, forum rules and regulations, profile informations and also read stickies on threads before making posts.
Note that there is a zero-tolerance policy for plagiarism and the forum is also averse to spam, which can get you temporarily banned and if done excessively permabanned.
Note, that it's a gradual process, concentrate more on the journey and knowledge you'd gain in trying to learn and contribute.

A very important tool would be the SEARCH option. There are answers to almost all basic inquires you would have. You can use it according to your specification.
5285  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: A Reminder To Newbies! on: August 01, 2019, 08:58:04 AM
...this is one of the biggest reason telegram is not a good social platform

Every social platform is filled with scammers, that does not make one or the other bad.
Telegram has a good user protection policy, and has privacy specification to suit you.
Social platforms are made to connect people, and there are tons of scammers out there who would like to contact you.
Protect yourself, avoid financial offers from people you do not know, for doing close to nothing. It's highly unlikely someone in the other half of the globe would need your help to withdraw some bitcoins from a website.
Also avoid phishing links.
5286  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What to do to avoid phising sites on: August 01, 2019, 08:50:06 AM
Nice post. It would be helpful to bookmark all the sites you visit regularly, and always review any new site before adding it to your list.
Never click on links from unsolicited emails, telegram messages or even PMs here on the forum.
Before clicking on edited links here on BT, hover over the link to view the original HTML or copy and paste the link if you're using a mobile browser.
5287  Economy / Speculation / Re: The crash of BTC price on: July 28, 2019, 02:21:01 PM
Well j actually anticipated a drop below $9k when Bitcoin was almost at the $14k mark. It's unlikely it would drop below that in the coming weeks however, $9100, give or take. And them maybe an upward surge which could see us hit $15k.

The media would always look for news in any event. This is not technically a crash in the price. It's an unlikely drop however, especially as volatility has reduced significantly in the past months.
5288  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: if you want to win big...accept defeat on: July 28, 2019, 11:22:46 AM
The topic could be summarized as saying a gambler should know how to exercise self-control when gambling. Try to quit when you on a high, but if the tides turn against you, so not try to fight against it while incurring more losses.
It doesn't apply to making big money though, it just a capital protection strategy.
5289  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Centralized exchange will be soon dominated by Non-Custodial Exchanges on: July 28, 2019, 11:15:50 AM
The reality is most decentralized exchanges are not efficient for instant trading, and day traders contribute largely to daily volume and liquidity of a currency.
If I were to invest and I was not too concerned about how long it would take, I would surely pick a decentralized exchange to purchase through, if it has that currency listed. It offers more security and privacy protection.
5290  Economy / Economics / Advice on how best to protect your capital on: July 28, 2019, 07:45:56 AM
Over the past couple of months, cryptocurrency returned marginally back to the good times. This affects almost every sector of this space. Forum activity increases, as people get more interested, up starts try to take advantage of the surge to launch their projects, and scams also increases as Bitcoin ans cryptocurrency becomes a more frequent discussion across social medias, and the target is usually newbies.

If you are new to this, or joined because of the hype, one thing to note is that there are different levels of scams and it's not always easily detectable.
So view every prospect as a scam, until proven otherwise.
It's easy to avoid basic scam attempts like the use of fake accounts or ICO imitations. But, there can be scams hidden beneath legitimate projects.

- Always be skeptical; do not trust a project on first glance. Always look for a hidden threat, by assuming there is one, this makes you dig further into the fundamentals of that project.
- The fact that the project has been successful so far, does not mean it can not still be a hoax; never get too comfortable when you've out your money in an investment. Always be on the lookout for developments and stay close to the process involved.
- Never fully rely on recommendations; always to your own diligent research on any prospect. Do not simply follow the ideas of "experts" or "influencers".
- There is no guarantee;  no investment is a hundred percent fool proof. Even Bitcoin which I would say is the safest cryptocurrency investment does not guarantee profits.
Always keep tabs on your portfolio.
5291  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Traders who never bother to learn how to trade on: July 28, 2019, 07:16:37 AM
It is a trend and has lead most to grave losses. They were likely introduced to trading as a source of easy money and they jumped on the idea.
As a trader, you should look for a website that supports demo trading and start off with zero pressure, and find your strength and weaknesses. Then you gradually start investing little capital and learning to cope with pressure and actual losses.
The aim is not quick profit, but longevity, build your account to support your trades without you having to source for capital from other incomes.
5292  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin can go to 42000$??? on: July 28, 2019, 06:44:18 AM
Yes, it is possible for Bitcoin to go as high as $420000 or any other figure one can imagine. There is no support to back up that value and it's improbable that it can rise that high in the space of five months.
In a span of time years to a decade, and with lots of falls in the contemporary financial institutions, Bitcoin could rise to replace it in many areas and lead to global adoption.
5293  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: July 28, 2019, 05:46:56 AM
Another player leaves Real Madrid.

They surely have been focusing on the attack and a little on the defence, while selling of, or loaning quality midfielders. I think most of the younger players (Ceballos, Valejo) need experience which comes with playing time that they won't get at the capital.
What's the status of James Rodriguez return, he'd be very vital especially after his very successful Copa America outing.
5294  Economy / Economics / Re: Can Blockchain Replace Banks? on: July 28, 2019, 05:26:07 AM
I would rather it remained an alternative to banks and cryptocurrency an alternative to fiat. If the blockchain were to completely replace banks then it means the government would have imposed strict regulations on it and that would take away most of it's core values. And the banks would likely issue their cryptocurrency to be run on it.

The blockchain is constantly evolving and new applications being introduced beyond the financial sector.
5295  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Multiple Round ICOs? on: July 27, 2019, 10:25:24 PM
I know of projects which still sells their customer token on their website after conclusion of initial ICO and having already gone on an exchange. It is not completely new, but it is a delicate process. The price has to reflect the conditions of the market and investors sometimes complain that it reduces liquidity on the exchanges.
Some projects also offer buy backs and store the tokens to resell at a later time.
5296  Economy / Economics / Re: Zimbabwe government trying to push for new Zimbabwe Dollar - Surprised? on: July 27, 2019, 10:04:12 PM
Corruption and gross mismanagement are the main reasons the nation is where it is today. The current and past state of the economy has discouraged foreign investments and Zimbabwe also frustrates local entrepreneurs who end up taking their businesses and revenue to more friendly countries.
The citizens can make a switch to cryptocurrency, preferably bitcoins and use it for peer to peer transactions.
5297  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 on: July 27, 2019, 08:41:28 PM
So here is the group for the first round:

  • GROUP B
    Russia
    Argentina
    Korea
    Nigeria

Nigeria avoided some of the major European teams, I was keeping not being paired with USA or Spain at this stage. No team is a pushover and the games would still be very tough, however if we do grow into the tournament we could build momentum for a solid run and make good accounts of ourselves.
5298  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can the 5 top biggest league in Europe matches be fixed on: July 27, 2019, 07:30:26 PM
In practice, yes it can indeed be fixed. And maybe one of the factors involved can be bought. It does not necessarily have to be the whole lot involved.
But in the modern game and in the top leagues there is so much attention and considering the risk to reward players, coaches and officials would be very reluctant to get involved in such shady business.
5299  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: TELL US WHAT NEWS MAKE YOU BUY COIN immediately AND WHAT IS YOUR SOURS OF NEWS on: July 27, 2019, 07:14:09 PM
It depends on the perspective, as a day trader any positive news which is likely to increase the price can make one buy, regardless whether it's a short or long term effect. This could be, confirmed partnership, project expansion, new listing, marketing e.t.c.
But a long term investor would be searching for more concrete developments which would have a lasting effect.
5300  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: We need decentralized exchanges on: July 27, 2019, 07:01:08 PM
DEXes are now being regulated by some governments and restricted in some areas. Mots decentralized exchanges cannot incorporate fiat to crypto conversion, and have low liquidity hence more attention on centralized exchanges especially for traders who favour an easy to use and flexible interface.
I'd certainly be checking out some of the DEXes listed on this thread to know how user friendly they are.
