5301  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Congressman Sherman - Libra is more dangerous then 9/11 on: July 26, 2019, 06:43:42 PM
...

The way I see it, both Bitcoin and Libra are threats to the monopoly of banks and governments. But with the large market base, Libra could explode quickly hence they are trying all sorts to shut it down.
I believe it's a discussion we would be having for a very long time, cause I would guess that Facebook and partners planned for the criticism and would have back up plans
5302  Economy / Economics / Re: Is institutional capital good or bad for Bitcoin? on: July 26, 2019, 06:38:21 PM
I think it is not just about institutional capital but just basically whales. It doesn't matter if one person holds one billion dollar worth of bitcoin or a whole company holds it, as long as there is one entity that has too much bitcoin that is bad. I do not want rich people to get as much bitcoin as they can and collect all bitcoins in the world just like they did with dollars.

But it's a commodity to be acquired and the more money you have the more money you can spare in exchange for bitcoins.
I believe is what they do with the assets they hold that matter. We do not know how much for certain, bit Satoshi would definitely have a very large stash of bitcoins, but it's unlikely he'd take any action that would hurt the currency in the long run.
The Bitcoin network needs more enthusiasts

That's true, but more often than not, the rest if the team would prefer to play around them rather than go for another teammate who is in open space, especially on the bigger stages.
Their teams heavily rely on them, making the rest of the team work less and fail yo reach their full potential except when handled by a credible manager.
5304  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: If DEX is so obvious ! on: July 26, 2019, 01:35:12 PM
DEX is the proper exchange that should have gone along with the decentralized nature of cryptocurrency but we simply ignored the system for Centralized exchange which is till so much making waves.

Agreed, it should have gained more acceptance among cryptocurrency enthusiasts, then it probably would have had more liquidity, and would have been a target for new projects as listing is practically free.
They also offer a high level of security.
Any case of hack or loss is most likely down to users' error.
5305  Economy / Speculation / Re: I thought btc would go down 5% today.... on: July 26, 2019, 12:56:40 PM
Before clicking on the topic, I was expecting to see some chart or reasons to support your hypothesis. But I guess in a way all traders go with what they feel or desire, as predictions and analysis usually does not reflect the direction of the market.

I am expecting that within the final quarter of the year we would surpass the current ATH, of course it could take a dip before then, but a $20k target is possible
5306  Economy / Economics / Re: 🔵 Facebook Agrees to Pay $5 BILLION, BUT will they ever stop?? on: July 26, 2019, 12:50:05 PM
The reality is, lots of people around the world do not really care what happens with their data, and bear the idea that it doesn't directly affect them if personal informations are marketed.
If only there were more discussions on the threat and how it can be used to control the masses, then the public could force the government to pay more attention to this.
5307  Other / Archival / Re: Huawei Chinese version of Libra ? on: July 26, 2019, 11:40:53 AM
As far as the Chinese version, I think it wouldn't gain that much traction. Probably in their country, but outside the sphere, this will be just another shitcoin, IMHO.

That may be the exact idea, China has the largest population in the world. And a breakthrough in that market alone would bring lots of revenue. Facebook's platform would reach out to far more people but I do not think it would want to lose the Chinese market.
China is simply marketing it's population.
5308  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Poker Myths - Help you become better players on: July 25, 2019, 06:45:34 PM
Poker games depends on the players and what he is dealt, so the player also hopes for luck in order to succeed.
A good player with a good combination would have a greater chance than a bad one with the same cards.
5309  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: July 25, 2019, 06:39:19 PM
If the deal went side ways, and he went back to Atletico, he would definitely remain there. i doubt any team had much interest in him a part from Barcelona. This would be so bad for him as the fans won't have his back for "betraying the club"  Grin

I think Paris Saint Germain showed some interest in pulling hin to France, it may have been a back up switch in case Barcelona we're able to get Neymar. As I doubt the Catalans would have ever been able to get both in one transfer window.

About the fans, they would surely not welcome home with open arms, but it's football, it's a passion for them, it's a passion for the players too and also a job. He turned his back on his previous club to join them.
5310  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Giving 26 Newbie/Jr. Members a Chance to Rank Up on: July 25, 2019, 12:11:40 PM
...

An alternative would be to get at least one merit to make you eligible to get to the jr member rank.
Note you'd also need to get the required activity (30) needed for that rank
5311  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Crypto trading educational platforms on: July 25, 2019, 10:36:24 AM
I have been a part of trading groups managed by successful traders, but they are usually very difficult to get into and remain close-knit. Most of the commonly advertised platforms are most likely scams in one way or the other.
Follow the advice of other already given on this thread.
Diversify your source material, and apply the basic trading principles.
5312  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Has the purposed of kyc been diverted? on: July 25, 2019, 05:38:29 AM
Data has become more important in the present day, with even popular websites compiling data on those who regularly use their sites. So it's no surprise people are wart about who/where they submit their personal details.

It is also becoming more difficult to circumvent the KYC on exchanges. So do your background research, the history and track record of the website. Also endeavour to read the privacy policy this gives you an idea of your legal stance.
5313  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Match 365 soccer prediction online. on: July 25, 2019, 05:28:18 AM
I have not as yet used the app, but I did a quick check and it appears to be very popular and also diverse as it cuts across various sports.
Checking the reason for the few recent 1 star ratings, most were because of ads on the app, that's more preferable to a crash or bug in the system. Almost all applications contains ads nowadays.
5314  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread (EPL) on: July 24, 2019, 09:00:49 PM
I watched the latest firendly matches of Chelsea and they seemed able to overcome Hazard's loss.
In my opinion, they won't suffer a lot from his leave. He was the best player in the team but now they are working more as a team and they are more creative than before that they were expecting Hazard to make a good move.

One match, and a friendly fixture at that is not enough to determine whether or not Chelsea will comfortably survive without the presence of hazard. You can say they'd become more of a team, but Eden was a team player and the reality is, good players make teams. He is a major loss to the club and also the English league.
5315  Economy / Economics / Re: IS THIS HOW USD IS CREATED? on: July 24, 2019, 07:28:57 PM
I got attracted to the actual video on the tweet and the discussion (or argument) on Bitcoin. And I would wish that the topic of cryptocurrency could be as polarizing as it is in America and some other nations in developing countries.
And I think it's down to the involvement of citizens. If more people got involved in cryptocurrency in Nigeria for example, it would become a topic of political debate and attract more attention.

The banks only ever have a fraction of all their account balances in reserve, and why a "bank run" is possible; too many people trying to withdraw their money all at once can cause the bank to collapse as it quickly runs out of reserves.

In this case could the central banks print more money to cover the rush and prevent a collapse?
5316  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Does hard work in gambling count? on: July 24, 2019, 04:19:55 PM
Experience and expertise would be a better fit in the topic rather than hard work. And yes to some extent and in specific games which are not entirely to the luck of the draw or throw of the dice experience does give one an edge.

There is no guarantee however, but I'd go with the guess of someone who follows up football on a match over that if someone else who doesn't.
5317  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 on: July 24, 2019, 02:24:47 PM
Great to see my home country Nigeria on the list alongside the other African Nations. The sport has always been popular here locally, although not at the same rate as nations like the USA. I hope we make a good account of our selves during the tournament and create a larger pad to launch aspiring basketball players to the top.
5318  Other / Meta / Re: [spammer] Please ban this user on: July 24, 2019, 12:49:07 PM
I want to suggest one thread where we can report spam posts, if possible.

There is such a thread here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4720640.0 But judging from recent posts they are encouraging members to simply report posts that they consider spam. Making a thread does not make mods work faster, but it could lead to multiple reports for a post or account even after action has been taken.
5319  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League Discussion Thread on: July 24, 2019, 05:17:42 AM
I personally believe the away goals shouldn't be given the precedence that it is, as it puts more emphasis on attack(goals) and less on defense(clean sheets). But that's the dynamic of the current game and Basel are in a good position, not the best. But they have something to hold onto going into the second leg of the fixture.
5320  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Manny Pacquiao vs Keith Thurman on July 20 on: July 24, 2019, 04:22:53 AM
That means by the end of 2009 his record should stand at 45 wins, 3 losses and 2 draws

That is quite an impressive record, but at that time and right now. No shame in losing out to those very talented boxers.
At this point in time, I think his attention should be solely on his mental health. If we are lucky to see another mega main event like Pacman vs Mayweather, that'd be great, but if not, he should pick his opponents shrewdly
.
His last fight shows he still got it in him, but for how long?
