It didn't have a huge upward trend in 2012 after the halving, but after sometime, almost 1 year from halving then, it got up to 1000 USD as a price.
But answering your questions, now you cannot have that as a gauge to judge this halving, as many things are different now. If the price doesn't go up significantly after this halving many miners will have to shut down and that is not a good thing.
Realistic view should be price of BTC in the range of 500-750 USD after the halving but this is just a prediction, because this cannot be truly be predicted, all we have to do is wait and see.
PS. Keeping your bitcoin is a very good idea until then.
Yeah nice idea to save your bitcoin, cause the halving are away in only a days left distance. We could earn a nice profits if that will be a cause. We could get a tremendous amount too. |

I definitely remember that the year 2013 BTC price hit 1000 per usd. I think it could happen again in 2017 that was the most opinion I can get here. The halving is near watch out and I really so excited to experience it again. |

I think its better to invest these days because of the halving that is near to come, it will be very good.

I believe only the price of bitcoin will demand that. When there is a demand for trading less than one satoshi like calculating value of one satoshi greater than 1 cent and then we have to divide further. |

buy bitcoin from a trusted place/site/exchanger. and buy for cheaper price. local bitcoin is the most preferred place to buy bitcoin for me.
Even I didn't bought bitcoin ever, but if I need to buy I would buy from localbitcoin for sure. or I will buy from this forum's currency exchange section.
I too prefer buy from this forum's currency exchange section but I hate localbitcoin as it usually has huge gap from current price. I usually avoid coinbase as it is known for many horror stories. |

Almost wreck my life, I lost 0.2 in bitcoin gambling so i stop gambling now, I stop cause i cant win with my strategies in playing gambling That is still a small amount but it is good you realized it early. YOu stopped gambling and that is a good choice. If you continued, you could have lose more and that is really the thing that can wreck your life. You can now focus on more productive things like earning more or improving your life. It is only for you a smaller amount while for those people who have a lesser income that amount is much bigger and with that they can do anything for their family and can live some weeks with it. |

We cannot predict what will happen to bitcoin in year but let's just say that the price continue to rise, then dump pretty hard, then rise again. If it rise again I think it's value will be above 700-1000$. Just my prediction but it can also be below that. That's right, we can predict what will happen in the future or speculate. What we really don't know what is the exact thing that will going to happen. All speculations might happen, and with your price speculated it might happen to $1000. For sure, all of bitcoin users will be happy if that price reach to that price. 1 BTC is a good amount to risk and make an experiment in the future, who know what will be the exact amount after a year or decade, if this continue to skyrocket there is a slim possibility that 1 BTC can buy you a house in the future. Everyone have believe on bitcoin and everyone has a good amount of bitcoin (not only one) in their wallets, and everyone know that within this year we will get a good profit when the rice of bitcoin increase. |

what will happen if two persons use the same "recovery phrase" ?
If more one person is having access to same bitcoin private-key due to same recovery phrase, I believe the first spender will get all the benefits. But recovery phrases has more combinations, so less to no chances for a collision. |

2016 is the time of occurrence of halving. This is very exciting because I could take a huge advantage. I save some bitcoin today and I'll sell it one day later after halving.
If there will be a halving and if the price really does indeed go up, I might actually have a party for myself with burgers and pizza and all! Halving is now hot topic. For bitcoin users halving day like Christmas Day. Well, I think its more than that day because Christmas Day comes every year but halving comes 4 rears once. I often send small amount of Bitcoin around 100,000 satoshi, is there a way to avoid paying a fee that is a significant proportion of the amount sent?
Bitcoin transaction fees is also really headache for me right now as a small trader. I use blockchain most of time when I need to trade with someone and need to get confirmation hurry. XAPO wallet is the best if you want a small transaction because there is no transaction fees but they will process your transaction from their addy combined with other people's transactions. |

If you see the bitcoin average price graph you can see Less than a month ago bitcoin price was around $420 now it is worth $576. People believe that the value might cross $600+ . Is it possible that Bitcoin can be deposited in the banks in the near future? I mean like any other currencies that can be deposited and withdraw in the banks.
I think https://haobtc.com is bank of bitcoin, they give us interest if we put bitcoin on their service. Haobtc is technically not a bank. Their income is generated from a mining farm so it is basically a cloud mining site. A bank on the other hand, uses the interest from the loans to pay their user. A similar service that does this is BTCJam although i wouldn't use them. Well BTCJam is obviously not a bank as well. I would do both, basically bitcoins job is not time specific so once I get home at 5 pm i would give all my time for it. And if bitcoins income continues to impress me I will surely leave the job !
