People accessing the development branch in the github repo, be cautious of using this, it can potentially result in loss of coins.

How come sha256 has several terrahasshing power and script has much less but still earns equal coins per block?

Each algo has its own difficulty. Cryptocoin 101, look it up.
444  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: AURORACOIN - Empowering Financial Freedom on: May 01, 2016, 12:47:31 PM
something wrong with the blocktime?

No, it's just each new algo started with a very low difficulty but the difficulty will increase to target the blocktime.

We counter-acted it to some extend, but things seem to settle now. Transition went IMHO pretty smooth.

about 19 hours to go for multi-algo!

is it he same time the exchange is open to the people of Iceland?

The exchange will go out of beta a few days later. Trading (and registration) has been already possible though.

You are a funny guy Smiley we did not have to wait till tomorrow the price is falling down. I was hoping for the price to go up not down after the bus stop campaign. Can someone explain this? why is having the opposite effect?

Set the bittrex chart to 1D and zoom in/out until you get the graph starting this year. You'll see that this is just a correction for something that has increased 10 fold in a few months. People speculated on the Panama papers, which generated the recent prise increase. Now that news has settled in, the market corrects.

Thanks, that makes sense to me Smiley So where will be the bus stop campaign in the news?

No idea. If it has an effect (as in Icelandic people buying it), we will see it within a few days. But I hardly doubt it. Look at the comments on twitter, the ads have the effect we wanted (awareness in Iceland). This was intended as a slow wake up call to the Icelandic people. This will be a long term process until we get all things in place that are being worked on, this promotional ad was an initial thing.

When our Icelandic friends start to use Aurora, it will only add value to other country coins.

Start to stock up on the cheap country coins now. Thank me in a few months. Smiley

This is risky since you are hardly "diversifying" your portofolio, and adding to the actual hope we all have for Aurora coin the hope that it will spread hype to other national coins (and I mean just hype, since I don't know any other national coins with such amount of work behind the scene).

Some will see it your way, some will see it mine.

It is hype at the moment, just wait till Icelanders actually start to use it, it will add credibility to others. Mark my words.

words marked !! hope you are right  Grin

The rest of the countrycoins are beyond terrible. It's only AUR and Gulden that will make it. Gulden has the best development and AUR the best marketing. AUR doesn't have any competition in Iceland and that makes marketing more important.

Gulden isn't a country coin any more... they parted from that during the rebranding (the dev team stated that at the time as well).

Also, a lot depends on the team behind it (scammer devs that drop out after pump) and the country specific conditions (ISK has gone through a hard time since 2008 and people are completely fed up with the unreliability as a store of value of their everyday currency).

Well, I just got few questions to current developers:

1st: Anyone have contact with Nite69 dev of AURora android based wallet?
2nd: At the moment I'm using windows based wallet - it can't execute properly importprivatekey from my android wallet extractet privkey ( which is 52chars long...) Is this done for some reason?
3rd: When linux based AUR wallet not depending on bd4.8 will be published?

Many thanks for any help

1. I think we tried to contact both Nite69 and JoiBlumen a couple of times last year (maybe my fellow devs can remember better), no luck with that.
2. We're trying to tackle the issue in this thread: http://auroraspjall.is/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=349
3. db4.8 has been an issue for ourselves as well during the release of this wallet. Next few wallets will be "maintenance releases", an upgrade for BerkeleyDB is planned in that. Other things we plan to tackle during those releases: https://github.com/aurarad/auroracoin/wiki

The discussion about the db4.8 upgrade still needs to be done (on the official forum, mostly, which version are going to use?), if you want to join in with that, then that would be great.

Is there a linux qt wallet available?

I downloaded sources on the website, and after:
Code:
./autogen
./configure
make
sudo make install

I don't see any qt wallet in the directory? Am I doing something wrong?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys.

You can find a .deb file here: https://github.com/aurarad/Auroracoin/releases.  Let us know if that works for you.

I haven't tried the QT compile on linux, but I know BioMike has.  He might be able to lend some knowledge on how the QT compile worked for him.

-Fuse

For the deb I get in my Software Center:

Dependency is not satisfiable: libdb4.8++
I installed libdb5.1++-dev but libdb4.8++ is not available.
Any ideas?

I can run the windows wallet in my dual boot setup, but I would prefer to run the linux wallet.

You'll have to get it from the bitcoin repo: https://launchpad.net/~bitcoin/+archive/ubuntu/bitcoin

In the next version we hope to tackle this issue by upgrading to a newer Berkeley DB version.

As for building from source, check the output of configure. It tells you if the Qt wallet will be build or not (and why).

Hi,

my wallet version is "v2016.03.1.0-6362761-dirty-beta" and it does not sync.

Is/are there addnodes avialable? I have downloaded the blockchain dated 03/08/2016.

regards

Remove the peers.dat after upgrade and try again. It should pick up the network instantly.
453  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: AURORACOIN - Empowering Financial Freedom on: March 18, 2016, 09:28:42 PM
running as sha256 I get an "out of memory" error...

Anyone else?

Only at block 225000 you can mine sha256.

right ok, so that's expected till then?

Was just setting things up.

Normally, you should not get any "out of memory" error (even when we're not at 225000 yet). Do you get the same with other wallets (Digibyte)? Is it repeatable? How is the system load?

Current planning for testing and bug fixing is going fine. If no problems arise the new wallet will be available mid March.

What special features will the new wallets have ?

I asked the promotion team to release all the data over time (starting about two weeks ago)... I hoped they would release info more sooner. As I will be pushing changes for the hard fork to one of my public repo's today... here is the big news:

Auroracoin goes multi-algo. Scrypt, SHA256, Groestl, Qubit and Skein (same algos as Digibyte) will be the algos that we are going to use. There will be a few more changes (mostly as a result of the implementation of this change), but I let that over to the other team members to release.

Can you PM the public repo link? A history lesson for all of you, it was Myraidcoin that developed Multi Algo and not digibyte, digibyte copied myraidcoin and used the same algorithms you will be using. You will be using the original algos used by Myraidcoin.

We're in the process of setting up the development repo on the aurarad github. As for the history lesson, thank you for the correction.

Good call on the multi algo, that gonna really help to securing the blockchain by fetching new miners in.

I'm sensing a jump in price very soon.

So, tell a total newb to multi-PoW: do I need a GPU?

Depends if you want to mine or not. You can use them... or not. From our point of view it is to prevent stalls on the block chain (due to jump pools), which are a road block (pun not intended) on getting AUR accepted in Iceland.

Seed nodes run at: s1.auroraseed.net, aurseed1.criptoe.com, s1.auroraseed.com, s1.auroraseed.org and s1.auroraseed.eu
The new wallet should pick these up automatically, but can take time. Best is to remove your peers.dat file before starting the new wallet.

does any one know anything about this Aurburn account:

 AURBurn9fsck7gW2pBQ8LbXa4pAzjCTgnw

ranked 411 with 117 transactions in and none out?

https://chainz.cryptoid.info/aur/address.dws?399011.htm

I think it came up in a discussion within the dev team once. If I remember correctly nobody knew whose it is/was. Just assume it is a normal address.

I have to agree with bimmerhead and leave the rewards as they are, I remember how you same people were having a heart attack when NLG wanted to change the reward system and now you wanting to change it yourselves on AUR. Double standards much? Leave it as the way satoshi intended or GTFO.

Ny2cafuse and I were the only ones involved with that (I was also against the NLG change, just as this change.) and have taken a position in this. The double standards also crossed my mind, but the situation here is completely different. Ny2cafuse wants to prevent a big difference in price (stabilize the price), while the NLG people argued that the price was too low and hoped to pump it this way (higher price). Also, with Fuse' solution the drop stays at specific points the same (just in between those points are changed), while the NLG solution is a one time drop of 10x and keep it the same for 60 years into the future.
