Meanwhile - wow Matthew is gonna make a fortune out of this

I hope to recoup the price only. I support BFL.

anyone offering to pay postage is foolish Tongue
I would never make anyone pay for postage. That's totally boring. This thing is supposed to be fun.

(At the $4.90 gox value at the moment he only needs 123BTC to cover the $600 it probably cost him)
Mine cost me $650 (shipping to Korea isn't cheap) because I got in late I guess. I heard some others got one for $500 and less. I don't know if that's true.

I'm still convinced you are Atlas Cheesy

If you make your money back are you gonna raffle another one?

Definitely! Next time though, Mihai has instructed me to do it through the Bitcoin Magazine as a giveaway of sorts for involvement etc. We'll see what we come up with. I have my own crazy ideas, but everyone around me has their own too, and I don't always talk to them before I jump the forums and do crazy shit.

You do exist after all, Matthew!

I profoundly apologize for ever doubting your existence  Grin Grin Grin

Impressive, really!

Lol. Of course I exist.

The Bush administration has essentially declared unilateral capacity for war. They can use military power in any way they choose with no jurisdiction under the American people's congress. Who do they claim they stand under? The UN and international bodies. 99% of the world's military power that is the US is under international jurisdiction.

As we speak, the NSA/FBI is being dispatched to watch everyone across the US.

We have been in martial law since 2001.

Fixed it for ya.

I lawled for truth.

Matt are you a white guy living in Korea?

I was born in Seoul. lol.

Hah!

Yea, I've been in Korea 7 years now. Started out my first year working at some schools and then got so sick of the backwards education system here that I decided to start my own small international school. We had about 200 students go through our school but after three years of fighting the Korean system, we learned that our entire curricular concepts (although standard in America) are still 10 years too early in Korea.

Ironically, since closing, I've already seen copycat schools opening up and universities are starting to do what we were doing too.

It has been a wild ride though. Here's some random colorful photos of me and some of my students when I owned the school (유치부부터 대학부있었지만, 초등학생들 재일많았어요.). There are thousands so I just picked the ones that seemed the most interesting. (last pic is from one of the airlines I partnered with for English testing)

4584  Other / Off-topic / So you like my animated GIF avatars? on: March 09, 2012, 06:19:17 AM
It was only a matter of time before we got groups going on this forum, but I haven't seen anyone yet make a move so in the spirit of SA forums, I'll start the first one.

Everyone who pledges to:

  • Always use an animated GIF as an avatar
  • Never change their avatar unless it's for an equally or more funny animated GIF avatar
  • Change their title to "Horse Kisses for all".

...may join this group and participate in the fun.

This elite group of the fun, free-spirited members of this forum will shine through the droll and boring "old-man" representation on this forum and show that regardless of your age, you can still have fun with what you do and be expressive too.

Let the detracting commence!

Are US citizens living abroad allowed to play?

I would think that the same rules apply to US Citizens doing drugs in other countries where it's not illegal.

A big glowing button that will reset your modem and router whenever the internet goes down. Or it does it for you if you don't press the button for a while.

Make it reinstall windows whenever I push it and you've got yourself a customer.

PM me with your name, address, phone number, then video call me on Skype and show me your identification, including birth certificate, tax returns, and federal or state issued ID as well as passport, wait 10 days for a coded letter and take a picture of the mailman delivering that letter to your house having him present his national identification and proof of employment, then show the contents of that letter confirming address, provide a notorized bank statement and credit report as well as criminal background check, making sure all copies are apostiled,

How would you respond if someone actually did all that

I'd coach them on delivery of their products and work with them on their business until a point they were profitable. That's what I do for a living right now.
4591  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Using excess cycles on Linux webservers to mine on: March 09, 2012, 03:51:34 AM
Guys... look. I understand I'm not going to make significant money with this. If I make .05 BTC / week, I'd be suprised.

It is bothering me that I'm paying for CPU time and not using it, when I could be using it to (trivially) be more involved in supporting Bitcoin. If I don't do it, it's going to bother the hell out of me.

You've already been recommended to mine something -other- than Bitcoins and sell them to idiots who think they are valuable.
4592  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I wanna become reputable? on: March 09, 2012, 03:49:04 AM
What can I sell or do to become reputable? I just did a exchange for $25 LR for 5 coins. Anything else I can do?!?!

 Thanks!  Cheesy

I'm curious Matthew,
I thought you are located in Seoul, South Korea.
Why is the raffle page on bit-pay.com saying Baekdu Mountain, Pyeongyang Korea North?

I don't get the drift.

The address is an easter egg/joke and doesn't matter.

How about you withdraw this scheme and get back to your magazine or whatever you do that's actually useful to the community.

It was a slow morning in Korea. Too late to turn back now though.

Are you wiling to use the DeepCeleron method of choosing the winning ticket?

Yes of course. The spreadsheet we will receive from Bit-Pay 7 days from now will be converted into raffle tickets based on credits for raffle tickets held by the email address owners who have purchased or earned credits through Bitcoin deposits or referrals.

At that time, I will release the actual ticket list, omitting the winner's email addresses and an independent party can run the list if they like. This is up to the community, I couldn't care less who does it so long as the math works and it's fair.

Edited for clarity:

The spreadsheet we have from bit-pay right now does not reflect tickets, it reflects credits to buy tickets. We need to convert those purchases into tickets at the end of the raffle (because the amount of tickets can increase based off of referrals).

Then all standard raffle rules will apply, and DeepCeleron can even handle the rules for randomizing it himself if he'd like.
4598  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Got my BFL Single today and I'm raffling it away for 0.5BTC! on: March 09, 2012, 03:08:06 AM
Just to clear the air of future naysayers:

At 09:25:29 AM, another user by the name of DBordello had mentioned the potential for the title to be misconstrued and the issue was resolved within minutes. The topic was changed to "raffle" to make it absolutely clear what was being offered.

At that time there had been 0 participation in the raffle from the community so there can be no arguments of deposits made under false pretenses.

Ferroh's post was at 11:14:00AM complaining about a title that then didn't exist, barking about his disagreement with raffles and mislabeling it a "Ponzi" scheme, then later retracting it, and blaming the entire community for "supporting ponzi schemes" due to their support for this honest raffle for a Bitforce Single.

So far everything he has based his 'points' on, he himself has since retracted. So I just have to ask..

U mad bro?

You're right, it's merely a gambling scheme where we have no idea what the odds of winning are.
Oh, you mean a raffle?

Originally your thread title read "giving it away for 0.5BTC!".

The winner will be stealing it as far as I'm concerned. This wording issue was already brought up and addressed immediately.
