As long as there is no 4.0.2 windows binary, for me 4.0.1 is the most up to date version, so why is it not working?!?

The code has been updated, the Windows wallet you need is 4.0.2, the 4.0.1 version will no longer work. Wait for 4.0.2

Hey guys,

on Crypopia the wallet is still not working.... Cryptopia says: "Update required"

Can you guys please help to get this fixed?

Btw I use the electrum wallet... is here any action needed because of the fork?

They know what they have to do at Cryptopia, just waiting on them to do it!  Grin

Thanks for the link, that fixes the connection issue, but I still see these unverified transactions even after setting up everything from scratch. Don't know what this is, why are they not verified?!?

I have the same 'unverified' problem, but connection is off and on also.
I tried sending small amount to paper wallet and it worked - showing on explorer.
Like a 4 cylinder car running on 3 - rough, but gets you there. It is obvious that
blockchain is still new tech! What I don't understand is why DOGE has not had the
same hack since xvg was a doge clone. Also, since this open source code was
probably copied from doge parent, why has that coin not been hacked?
[/quote]

Go back and look at the OP and you tell me how XVG code would resemble DOGE code at this point in time. This coin is far more advanced than DOGE ever was. Things change, grow and improve. Remaining stagnant in crypto is akin to being dead.

Is the new windows wallet already released? And what is about the windows electrum wallet? Is it up to date?

Waiting patiently on release of Windows wallet...

Perhaps someone will shut you down....
468  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: List of Decentralized BTC/Crypto exchanges on: April 06, 2018, 03:46:46 PM
Hello guys,

I am very interested in decentralized exchange concept. I've read a bit and I still don't know, which one is most developed and trusted decentralized exchange.

I am willing to maintain this first post as a list of p2p, decentralized exchanges. Please let me know of exchanges you heard about, gather some information or short note about it. I am interested in exchanges which allow me to exchange my BTC to something else and back. That would filter out ERC20 token exchanges and other weird projects.

List of exchanges:

bisq - The P2P exchange network
https://bisq.network/

Open Ledger
https://openledger.io/

CryptoBridge
https://crypto-bridge.org/

Only these three I found primising so far.

Let's get them all on one list for everyone's benefit!

Quick reads on the top decentralized exchanges including "Barterdex" which uses "Atomic Swaps" "No middleman/no fee" Atomic Swap exchanges are becoming more and more rellevent with every hack/closure of traditional exchanges. This list is by no means extensive but, it will get you acquainted with the species.  Grin

sharing this from grant hunter.... worth the read.

VERGE XVG ‘MINING ATTACK’ UPDATE:

This has just been shared with The Crypteia Program, and after a lengthy conversation with Michael Sloggett earlier, we all decided it was very important to release this to the wider community as part of a unified message.

This post is a summary of the thread linked below and all details of this situation are there, with all links to relevant sites to verify the information given. Please look into this further, and learn as much as you can, so you are as informed as you want to be:

When a coin project grows to this stage and value, it's is time to put away the childish defense of ego and self and step back to view the bigger picture, the protection of the investors and users. If what you are saying is true, and I have no reason to doubt it, the Dev here needs to step up and fix this NOW if it hasn't been already done. As a programmer and software/network engineer, I can understand the reluctance of plugging in someone else's code or, implementing another Dev's fix but, the future and security of the coin/project MUST take precedence over ego and self.

Let's get this fixed so we can move on before it's too late...  DISCLAIMER: I hold XVG and therefore have a large self interest in seeing this project succeed.

P.S. This not a "dig" against the developers, we all react differently in these situations, no one is perfect and information never transfers without errors of omission when humans are involved.  Grin

I may have mentioned this before but, if not, I think DNotes could greatly benefit from being listed on KMD's BarterDEX exchange. This is "atomic swap" technology, no BS, no fees no personalities or bad actors. I believe it's free as well:

https://komodoplatform.com/decentralized-exchange/

There's an email to contact them if you are interested on that page. There are others building on this tech as well but KMD has been in the forefront of the tech for some time.

Thanks RJF! Definitely a consideration. I will look into it further as I have time, as I understand some forms of Atomic Swaps require SegWit, and there are other iterations that don't.

Cool. I don't believe SegWit is required since coins like DigiByte (DGB) and DOGE are listed there.

RBI Bars Regulated Financial Entities from Providing Services for Crypto Users

https://dcebrief.com/rbi-bars-regulated-financial-entities-from-providing-services-to-crypto-users/

This type of behaviour by the banks will ultimately lead to their downfall or, at the very least, loss of prestige and sway over the financial systems. They can use whatever excuse the dart lands on today to distance themselves from crypto but, the real reason is competition. Never actually having had any, they don't know any other way to act outside of the "bull in a china" shop scenero.

If they would only step back and take a good hard look at the changing financial landscape, they would realize they are the dinosaurs and crypto is the comet filling more and more of what used to be blue sky every day. Shame really, we could have lead them back into the light...

PS: Apparently, this decision and announcement were made without the approval of the Indian Government which has been coming around to the pro crypto side of things lately. I'm going to get some Popcorn, this might get interesting...

I'm neither running the coin nor writing a code (at least not for this project). I am long time hodler. But that doesn't bother me. I have a faith in the project and the team.
On the other hand, whatever is real bothers you. Algo change bothers you, ATW bothers you, Ben bothers you...

I understand you get excited when posting here, but coin increase in value because of a hard-working team behind it.
Because they removed wormhole feature, that was a big trouble, because they burned coins, because they did it in right time, because they activated segwit, because they are bringing businesses, because they are giving money to the science...

That's what makes the difference, not your infant "to the moon" calls. Neither will "back to sub 1000". You're irrelevant. The sooner you realize that the sooner you'll find own peace of mind. I'm rooting for ya...

wow you are out of touch with reality (you should learn how to read code) and totally missing my point... believe me i'll let you(hodlers) know if i find anything of substance here... :\ lolzzz

Thank you for the update ctya x I will wait patiently, sorry I seem to have jumped the gun a bit. Smiley

Also: Is a node something I can offer?

My understanding is that it is simply a computer connected to the network that verifies the blockchain? (excuse me if I have the lingo/terms wrong, I haven't looked this far into it before) Happy to help out if this will be any use, I have a computer connected 24/7

On Steemit, I signed up but am waiting to sort the wallet issue before I proceed.

An open, running wallet is a node. Nodes can leave and rejoin the network at will. Upon reconnection, a node downloads and verifies new blocks from other nodes to complete its local copy of the blockchain. Simply open a wallet on a computer connected to the internet and you have a node.

I have notice that Claok is listed on CoinMonkey exchange and just wanted to here from you did anyone tried their services, are they legitim? [...]
Never heard of CoinMonkey before, probably best you steer clear of them until you are absolutely sure that they are legit.

There's currently a >51% attack going on on XVG which exploits a bug in retargeting in the XVG code.

Usually to successfully mine XVG blocks, every "next" block must be of a different algo.. so for example scrypt, then x17, then lyra etc.

Due to several bugs in the XVG code, you can exploit this feature by mining blocks with a spoofed timestamp. When you submit a mined block (as a malicious miner or pool) you simply
set a false timestamp to this block one hour ago and XVG will then "think" the last block mined on that algo was one hour ago.. Your next block, the subsequent block
will then have the correct time.. And since it's already an hour ago (at least that is what the network thinks) it will allow this block to be added to the main chain as well.

This is what is going on since about 06:00 UTC of 04.04.2018:

As you can see in the text above, those blocks are all subsequent, so one miner gets them all and you see there's 90 min difference between all the blocks, thats one bug the miner is
exploiting. You also see the correct time is the latter time.. so the last block ended on 13:51:06 and the block before was 12:17:47 and the block with the correct time before that one
was at 13:51:05 .. That means the hacker is mining one block per second !

The vergeDEV @ Discord says "everything is okay - there's nothing to fix"..

Since about 99% blocks by legit pools are rejected - and the dev team is not able to understand this problem, i'm closing and removing all VERGE pools from suprnova.

If this is the case, XVG is done.
Big pools are bowing out because of an exploit and the dev team doesn't think there is a problem?

Relax, it's already being dealt with. Nobody is "done", crap like this happens quite often and the Devs responded.
