I just realized that I would have an unfair advantage in this game, being able to see payments in the wallet before they hit blockexplorer, so I will be participating no more. You're welcome, winner, for the 0.01 donation from me. Smiley
482  Economy / Auctions / Re: Just for the fun of it on: December 19, 2011, 05:51:41 AM
I have sent 0.01

so i'd have to send 0.02 and the next guy 0.03...1.01, 1.02

i saw this game on one of the bitcoin gambling sites, it was working well the jackpot was going up up up

That's right. So it's been done? Damn it, I thought I was being creative. Should have known there's nothing nre under the sun. Smiley

This is a psychology experiment. Let's see if this auction goes anywhere at all.

The rules:

1) Highest bidder at the end of the auction gets all bitcoins in 167gBwPnorxou8mKF2CUr95y7xdfgpfxsd at auction's end.

2) To bid, you must actually send the amount of your bid to 167gBwPnorxou8mKF2CUr95y7xdfgpfxsd (that's right, every bidder pays their bid whether they win or not)*.

3) Immediately after adding it (before the payment makes it to blockexplorer so someone else can claim it), you must post the amount of the payment you made here.

3) Auction ends when no payment has hit blockexplorer exactly 1 hour after a prior payment hits blockexplorer (according to the times listed in blockexplorer for the transaction). If your payment hits blockexplorer one hour and one second after the prior payment, you are among the losers.

4) Within 12 hours of auction end, I will send the entire contents of the wallet to the winner.

*To be clear, the amount you send is not totaled cumulatively. The current high bidder must send that amount in 1 transaction.

I know they have rejected bitcoin several times, I was just adding one more request to the pile because I was on wikipedia and saw their huge banner begging for donations. Cheesy

Hi there,

I am interested in making a donation to wikipedia, but I cannot afford a large donation.

If I send you a small donation via paypal, etc., a sizeable percentage will be eaten up in fees, and I want to donate to wikipedia, not paypal, visa or mastercard.

I would like to make the donation via bitcoin, so that wikipedia will receive the entire amount, but I do not see a bitcoin donation address anywhere on your site.

Can you please let me know what bitcoin address I can use to send a donation to?

Highest Regards,
Jeremy West

It's quite possible I'm thinking of a different site. Although this is the first time I've seen this, it resemble something else I once saw linked from bitcoin.org.

This Bitcoin Feedback site was started by Sgt Spike on the forums.

I'm just being childish about my current number of positive feedback. Wink

I wasn't questioning that. I was wondering if this is a new look for this site.

Hmmmm... It looks the same as it always has to me.

How long does it take to transfer bitcoins to paypal through this service?

It takes a maximum of 12 hours as I am on Australian time and orders are processed manually at this time (in other words it takes a long time if I've just gone to sleep when you place your order, but otherwise it's generally pretty quick).

You should include Newegg also. I'm sure that would be a quite popular option.

What about zazzle.com? they say they do 15% for affiliates, plus you could make spendbitcoin.com t-shirts and get an extra cut if you affiliate linked to those.

These have been added to our affiliates page now that PayPal USD is a cashout option on http://spendbitcoins.com. Just cash out PayPalUSD and use your PayPal balance to fund your purchase on these sites or millions of others worldwide! Just remember to click through from the links on http://links.spendbitcoins.com every time you go to these sites so that we get credit!

If you're shopping on a site we haven't added to our affiliates page yet, please let us know so we can add it.

This is indeed an intelligent way of buying BTC. But, what if you receive more orders than you can afford? I mean, this can't be a long-term service...

Just found this post from the past and thought it was amusing. Smiley
495  Economy / Goods / Re: Spend bitcoins anywhere PAYPAL is accepted, NOW FEE FREE! on: December 18, 2011, 04:19:39 AM
I wasn't referring to you, I ment anyone that you send paypal to so that they can pay for something.

Oh, right. Sorry for the misunderstanding. Smiley

I don't, however, think this is too much of a worry unless you spend a large amount per year this way. But I'm certainly not an accountant, so take what I say with a grain of salt.
496  Economy / Goods / Re: Spend bitcoins anywhere PAYPAL is accepted, NOW FEE FREE! on: December 18, 2011, 03:25:14 AM
Keep in mind I think Paypal is reporting earnings now to the IRS (I don't remember the source of the info). This will look like an unreported income (if you don't report it).  If you reported your earnings in bitcoins, then you may be able to discount this as already reported income. (IANAA)

I'm not RECEIVING PayPal, I'm SENDING PayPal. Smiley

I can finally close my paypal account!

Sure you can.

But not because of this. Your PayPal account is still used in the transaction as we send a PayPal payment to you & you use that to purchase online. Sad

Sorry it wasn't quite as good as you thought!

You can now use http://spendbitcoins.com to exchange your bitcoins for PayPal USD and then shop anywhere PayPal is accepted (or just transfer the money to your bank account).

We are now funding these transactions from a bank account rather than a credit card, so depending on the type of PayPal account you have, these transactions can be FEE FREE!

Looks like I'm a little late to the party, but...

I'm in.

It's never too late, Jeremy. Besides, 'the party' is just beginning. I took the liberty of putting you down for (1+) which translates into you pledging at least 1 BTC and will honor it when you see fit. Thank you kindly for your contribution.

BTW, I ordered that book from Amazon thanks to you. Did you see the thread where I outlined how the whole process progressed? Also, nice interview, the other day.

~Bruno~
