Just bought 4M and hoping my othe buy order of 6M hits

That's the way to take control! Buy up 2%-5% of the total supply and make the market work for you!

DASH... ug... I dont know... on one side it makes perfect sense, on the other, there is no ...hmm... snazzz to it.

Agreed. If it's really just shortening "digital cash" as @oblox suggested then that has got to be really worked through. It's a horrible name to jump to or even seriously consider.

They should start sifting through the 30 pages of trademarks just associated with "DASH". Maybe there are some good logo ideas in there too!  Wink

how long did it take to get that Automatic Monkey?

It was there as soon as I generated an address. What a brilliant coin, that recognizes the true nature of its users and assigns an appropriate wallet address!

No seriously, about a week on a CPU.

..... especially the part where Darkcoin is considering a name change to DASH... because it's short for "digital cash".  BRILLIANT!

@eduffield Why don't you look into "Priva" or "Libera" both of which have roots in "free" & "freedom". Crypto is about gaining our financial freedom back.

"Dash" is a step backward imo.

Official Announcement - Anonymous Technology Release Date

Dear Community!

We are very pleased to announce the official release date for our Anonymous Technology to the Main Navajocoin Block Chain!

Monday 9 March 2015

I'm as anxious as everyone else for more news. That being said, We all have to assume everyone will need to do a fork to implement this new tech onto the mainnet.

So that means the next word we hear will most likely be "At block 1016000 (or fill in the blank) everyone needs to update to client version 2.1 (or fill in the blank). The new 'unbreakable code' will be available after block 101600."

I'm a consumer. I want to know how to buy it, how to buy stuff WITH it, and how to keep my coins safe.

Anyone point me in the right direction, or do I need to write the thing myself? Tongue

I really like this article and have pointed friends in family to it as a Primer

488  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ★[ANN] [NAV] NAVAJO COIN - Anonymous Technology on: March 07, 2015, 07:07:22 PM
We need to give the DEV community TIME and CREDIT for the GROUNDBREAKING TECHNOLOGY that already exists. There is room for improvement after NAV ANON - this will be done in stages. I do not feel that DEVs will put their credibility on the line by being dishonest with a MEAGRE stake interest, if it exists.

Hey I agree. I'm behind this team that's why I've got 15 BTC worth of NAV right now and holding. (It was 11-12 BTC this morning when I woke up but gotta love the 33% increase  Cool

But I still think until the NMG & CSG subchains are decentralized we won't see the moon yet. And this isn't a worry about "MEAGRE stake interest, if it exists", it's bigger than that! Do you understand how crypto works and doesn't break? It's not by traders, it's by code. So when I asked the guys what is securing the subchains (NMG & CSG) it's because I want to know that the crypto won't break. Without PoW (or something in it's place, ie: PoS) Bitcoin would fail. Miners won't mine if there is no reward and when miners don't mine then the blockchain stops working. And the same is true with every crypto forked off of it. That's 1/2 of the 2 Brilliant inventions Satoshi gave us; the blockchain.

So I could care less of the stake interest anybody is receiving, but I care greatly about what's securing it. That means it better damn well exist! So it sounds like PoS is what is securing it but it also sounds like there aren't any rewards for staking it. So I still want to know if this is a hybrid PoS system or different for the NMG & CSG subchains. It's ok if there aren't any rewards atm because on Monday there will only be 1 centralized node (the foundation) and they don't have any reason to hurt their hard work. But what about those of us who want to be nodes when it's decentralized. There has to be something that will secure the double encryption tech or it will break. Again, it sounds like it's PoS, which is great, but what are the rewards? 1%, 2%, 10% annually, per transaction, what? What is going to entice [hopefully] a whole bunch of us to operate nodes? <-- This is my whole point: a whole bunch of nodes so we're decentralized and unbreakable.

And I also will be very anxious for the decentralized model to be running ASAP. We all trust the Devs and the foundation whole-heartly, but true anonymity in the digital realm can't be controlled by one person/group.  Too much could happen to 1 entity and shut down the whole operation.

  • What if the server goes down - will NAV ANON not be available until it's back online?
  • What if the NSA or someone puts pressure on the ISP of their node - will NAV still work but not the ANON part of it?
  • What if they open it up to other nodes and while they are getting nodes someone controls more than 51% of them and kills the coin - for example: say the Navajo Foundation owns 1 node and the first 2 new decentralized nodes are owned by a bad person and they control 66% of the NMG & CSG subchains all of a sudden?

I can't wait to be Navajo "Magic" Gateway node & Choctaw Star Gateway node. I'd like to know what the rewards for operating a node will be. Until then I won't worry about somebody taking over the double encrypted subchains because one group already has 100% control of it.

TL;DR
We won't see the moon until we have 100% Decentralized-Anonymity. It'll be fun to see how high we go in the meantime  Wink
489  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ★[ANN] [NAV] NAVAJO COIN - Anonymous Technology BETA STARTED ● CHAT ● Faucet! on: March 07, 2015, 04:27:32 PM
We may not see a HUGE jump until the double encryption subchain is truly decentralized. I'm not sure investors want to trust 1 person with 100% of the stake proceeds and 100% of the anonymity encryption chain power. For now, after talking with Pakage, that's where we're at right now. The subchains are controlled by the foundation, they are Proof of Stake and they get all the rewards.
It'll be interesting to see come Monday!

When will they decentralized the double encryption subchain?

I don't think you got that all right. Yeah we maintain the complete subchain network at the moment And it is proof of stake. But what do you think we should do with the rewards of the staking in the private subchain??? There is no rewards, which you could sell or whatever.  Only costs in that chain. And you need to stake to keep the network alive.

Maybe I don't, I'm just assuming since Pakage said the subchains are secured through PoS that staking would happen and thus staking rewards would happen. That's how PoS works. And the Navajo Foundation is the only node allowed to stake and get the rewards. That's just the logic I was using. Maybe we need more explanation of how securing the 2 subchains works. Is it a hybrid of PoS?

lol as always happened before, here also there are fudsters from shadowcoin dirty community

I own ~.5% of NAV total supply. I think I can have an opinion of whats going on in my communities.

To the moon, I see some buys around 37xx sats now.

https://poloniex.com/exchange#btc_nav

I wouldn't get too excited just yet. That isn't even .1 BTC worth of volume. New entrants will only go so high on such low sell offerings before more substantial market share is placed for sale. This makes me think the debut of the new Anonymity tech is already priced in to the current price somewhat.

We may not see a HUGE jump until the double encryption subchain is truly decentralized. I'm not sure investors want to trust 1 person with 100% of the stake proceeds and 100% of the anonymity encryption chain power. For now, after talking with Pakage, that's where we're at right now. That's cool! I had some extra words in the original like Reddit, IRC, etc with links but the sig was getting too large. I like the chinese characters.

@drAGon925, child_harold lookin' pretty awesome guys... Glad you like

@Skaia so are tables disabled on your level of membership? Your sig doesn't look like it's stacking right.

Yeah seems tables and colors are disabled for my level of membership... but in all case thanks for your work!
I will check what's the next level of membership and try to reach it as soon as possible Wink

What about text sizes?
Code:
[size=8]
This would be good to know
You could give this a shot, it's without tables.

Edit: Arrghh, I think you need to be a senior (or even hero) member before you can rock that badboy. Stuck with my lesser one till i've gone up in the ranks. Very nice though Litebit!

Really? Didn't know they restricted signature code by member type. So we actually need 3-4 different [levels of] signatures?

Yeah, no different colors till you're a full member, no different size fonts till you're a senior (example of sigs for diff levels), but your one's so cool I think the only sensible thing is for the rest of us in the shadow community who haven't reached senior level yet to post our asses off so that we can use it too.

HA!

Here's a simplified one but it's a bit dull without color and size changes.

What keeps the NMG & CSG subchains secure? PoW, PoS, something else?

Anyone know this answer? Gracias

As far as i know they have double encryption, but for full explanation please contact package or ask through the slack channel.

I understand the double encryption, it's a cool concept for erasing traceability. But I'm curious how the 2 subchains are actually secure from takeover. Bitcoin uses Proof of Work (PoW) to secure the blockchain, Peercoin uses Proof of Stake (PoS) to do the same thing. Navajo's main chain is secured by PoS I believe but is that how the NMG & CSG subchains are secured too? The WP doesn't explain this.

However it's secured, by having a central authority (Navajo Foundation) being the only centralized node until they figure out a decentralized method is a huge leap of faith. No need for a 51% takeover, they already own 100%. I'll PM pakage for an answer.

Back to business...

Signature Competition

We're thinking of running a signature design contest for Shadow similar to this one.

What info/links do you guys think need to be incorporated into the design?

Check my signature  Cool

There are no less than 5 Whitepapers referenced in that sig.  hehe

Reading through the WP. Can you give any more information under section 2 | 2 | 0 Anonymous Transactions? It's blank, I was expecting the beef of this document to reside there. Thanks!

Edit: nevermind, just confused by the layout. Reading subsections to 2 | 2 now.  Wink
