481  Other / Meta / Re: Alternatives to Permabans for plagarism on: January 09, 2019, 03:54:48 PM
The concept of plagiarism by mistake doesn't really make any sense to me. I don't believe that a person can really forget to mention the source from where he just literally copied and pasted something into his post/comment unless they don't care, or aren't aware of the fact that plagiarism is treated as a crime in here and is dealt with a harsh punishment.

Mistakes are done by everyone, I agree, but why don't we commit this kind of mistakes? (I'm talking about everyone who are considered to be good members of the community). Of course we all require to search the internet in order to answer a few queries that we are not sure about, at least I do, but what I do is either confirm the thing first and then convey it in my own way, and if in a case where I need to quote something, I make sure I mention the source I've taken it from because I have some sense and I know it is not right.

The only excuse I can think of by someone who has plagiarized anytime in past (either by mistake or purposely) is that they were not aware of the rule. For that matter, The Registration Message thing should be rolled out which would be sent to every new account upon registration which would either contain a list of the rules or the link to the thread that contains them, along with the other important stuff a member needs to know before using the forum. Also, the message should be sent to every user account at the time of implementation to avoid getting complains and later excuses from the pre-existing user accounts that are still unaware of the rules.

I believe the current punishment of permanent ban for plagiarism has nothing wrong in it since it rarely happens when a user unintentionally plagiarizes and doesn't even realize their mistake even after reading so many things about the issue in the forum, and committing mistakes like that even after reading the rules sent to your inbox personally should be treated with the same punishment as others. Hence, I voted for, "No - Nothing should change and permabans remain".
482  Other / Meta / Re: Howeycoins thread attracts account farmers on: January 09, 2019, 02:50:45 PM
Probably a bunch of thread bumping accounts created to continue their meaningless business of bumping every single thread to the top and irritate the users and mods from such happenings in the forum.
You will get tired of counting if you continue to look for such accounts being created every hour, each day of every week. The logic behind them doing this is still unknown to the public, but they probably have a hidden marketplace of thread bumping services somewhere where they get paid for doing such kind of things because I can't believe that a person would waste any of his time doing something which earns him nothing at all.

Anything that can be done about this?

For now, do what @suchmoon suggested. And, pray for them to get a job so that they stop doing all this and we get rid of it.  Roll Eyes
483  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: MERITS: Will doing this be uncertain, or should I do this? on: January 08, 2019, 03:46:06 PM
If I allocate some or all of my merits to a person I feel that they deserve it and that they should rank up, is it really fine if I do it like that way?

About all of your sMerits in one go (assuming they are between 20-40), I would say no.

About some of them, yes, if:

1. The user is in a rank where he requires a few more Merits to rank up, and the post in question deserves to get that many Merits.

2. You are not showering him with Merits for only that particular post and passing him to the next tier, but you are sure of his post history being constantly constructive.
484  Other / Meta / Re: What can be done better? on: January 08, 2019, 02:27:19 PM
Adding an indicator could be interesting in a sense, to allow all to know that the post has been reported and safe time for other that may proceed to report the same post.

Nevertheless, I can think of a few drawbacks too for visually adding a marker to the reported posts

The only possible way of letting someone know if the post is reported or not without the drawbacks mentioned is to add a list of reports already made for that particular post under the comment section of reporting page. The list should contain all the reports that are submitted for that post along with the reporters username and the comment (that would demonstrate the reason for that report).
After pressing the "report to moderator" button, you would be able to see if the post has already been reported or not, and if reported, for what has it been reported. And then if you think that the reason it has been previously reported for is different from yours, you can go ahead and submit your report as well, but if you find the reason to be the same, you can simply skip it and move forward.
485  Economy / Services / Re: Subscribe to my channel and get 3$ ! on: January 07, 2019, 03:55:41 PM
Having a look at OP's post history, and also the post history of the only guy who said he received the payment for this service, here:

Got my payment THANK YOU ! Smiley

I doubt if anyone is going to get paid for this service.

That guy, hiscall, is either OP's alt or a co-worker in their business of YouTube accounts and stuff, since they both come from the French local board:

Va voir un avocat spécialisé en crypto il saura te répondre, ça te coûtera 100€ je pense, c'est un bon investissement sur le long terme

Même en étant ok au niveau du côté administratif, il y a toujours des risque...

OP has offered to sell monetized YouTube channels with Fortnite videos in it:

Hello, im selling 20  MONETIZED youtube account,  each account have 15 videos about Fortnite  , each video is 10 minutes long
they got  100-200 views per video

And the other guy has asked for Fortnite videos to be sold to him:

Hello, im looking for someone who can do Fortnite gameplay video for me

These, and a lot of other small things, like their way of typing, or the usage of bold texts with red color and almost the same size for the font, make me think that the two accounts are somehow connected and are trying to accumulate free YouTube subscribers by posting a service and then being the proof of the service being legit themselves.

If any other user who is clearly not connected to them says they got paid for this, I'm ready to remove my post.
486  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who Are Selling off Their Crypto on: January 07, 2019, 03:22:15 PM
Bitcoins that are circulating in exchanges are coming from daytraders who usually use Bitcoin to buy other coins and then sell them off when they get a percentage of profit and then again buy another coin with the Bitcoins. It is not always important that if a Bitcoin is being sold it is from a Bitcoin holder or investor.
I myself trade Bitcoins against USDT to increase the amount of Bitcoins I have. I buy on a drop and then sell them off when the price goes a bit higher-- resulting in giving me a little profit out of the trade.
487  Other / Meta / Re: Another 3 new account spamming 1 Thread on: January 06, 2019, 04:10:18 PM
Isn't this considered to be an on-forum giveaway since it doesn't involve any criteria like wearing a signature, avatar or something which would have made it a campaign for that?:

Rules:
2. Must create NEW CONTENT for each post to participate again.
4. Each post/content should be longer than 50 CHARACTERS.
5. Number of posts is limited to 20 per week.

Reward:
1 post = 50 GBT.

They are simply asking users to post content in their threads (ANN and Bounty) and get paid for that, which is against the rules:

15. No on-forum altcoin giveaways. [6][e]

Most giveaway threads are no longer allowed in the Alternate cryptocurrencies sections. From now on, posting or replying to such threads could result in being banned. <...>

Specifically, you are not allowed to give people any incentive to post insubstantial posts in your threads. You can't offer to pay people who post their addresses, usernames, etc. You can do giveaways off-site and link to the giveaway page in a thread, but you can't give people any bonus for replying to your thread.

488  Other / Meta / Re: Merit source application on: January 06, 2019, 03:44:48 PM
Thank you all for your suggestions and comments

i followed them and posted the 10 required quality posts

You are supposed to quote them in this thread:

2. Collect TEN posts written in the last couple of months by other people that have not received nearly enough merit for how good they are, and post quotes for them all in a new Meta thread. The point of this is to demonstrate your ability to give out merit usefully.

The reason why theymos asked the users to quote the posts in the Merit Source thread of theirs is so that he doesn't need to open each one of them one by one and check if they really meet his criteria of posts he want sources to demonstrate.
You can have a look at o_e_i_e_o's Merit Source Application as an example and see how he did it.
489  Other / Meta / Re: Is account recovery feasible? on: January 06, 2019, 03:33:20 PM
Is account recovery feasible?

Account recovery is not for banned accounts, it is for hacked/lost ones.

Your account(s) are banned for plagiarism:
Copy:  Darth0ne Green trust member

Suppose, I have 100 CVN and how will I use this amount of CVN for the booking purpose?
If you have CVN then you should convert into BTN for the booking purpose. only BTN will be used for this purpose.

CryptoVilla’s token (CVL) and converts it into a CryptoVilla’s booking token
(BTN) receiving from 120% up to as much as 250% in BTN tokens, depending on
the selected conversion plan. For example, 1000 CVL tokens (worth $1000 at the
PreSale stage) can be converted into 2500 BTN (worth $2500) in a 6-month period
and all these BTN tokens can be spent on booking high-class lodgings or
withdrawn into an Ethereum wallet (ETH).

http://archive.fo/eIvvS#selection-2679.1-2689.40

Original

CryptoVilla brings a brand new approach to bookings. A guest acquires a CryptoVilla’s Token (CVL) and converts it into a CryptoVilla’s Booking Token (BTN) receiving from 120% up to as much as 250% in BTN tokens, depending on the selected conversion plan. For example, 1,000 CVL tokens (worth $1,000 at the PreSale stage) can be converted into 2,500 BTN (worth $2,500) in a 6-month period and all these BTN tokens can be spent on booking high-class lodgings or withdrawn into an Ethereum wallet (ETH).

And there is no way you are going to get them back. You better leave the forum, and do some struggle in your life to earn money (since that is probably why you are here) from now on.
Good luck.
490  Economy / Services / Re: Accepting New Brand Managers Applications on: January 06, 2019, 03:16:54 PM
This rule was not mentioned in OP earlier but now it has been added after mday applied.

It was, right from the start:
Requirements:

- Have an active Bitcointalk Rank Jr Member or higher and at least 6 months old Account (both required)

I didn't notice the last part of that reply made for mday.

You seem not to be noticing a lot of things here-- first, the rule about the account being older than 6 months in the starting thread itself, second, not even noticing it in the reply of OP to mday, and finally, not even being aware of the fact that you are not older than 6 months in the forum. Are you actually reading everything here or just skipping the crucial things after reading "We are looking for people to work..." from OP?

It really hurts when someone accuses which is false.

It shouldn't bother you much if you know you are not guilty of what you are being accused for. If in any way the accusations bother you and you are not being able to prove them wrong, they are going to grow against you, which is what you should not let happen. Answer every question with a logical statement that backs you up on that particular allegation, and people would understand if the logic you provide seems to be correct and on point.
491  Economy / Services / Re: Accepting New Brand Managers Applications on: January 06, 2019, 02:30:51 PM
~~

There is no point in arguing here. You should read all the replies before posting which doesn't seem to be the case here:

we are not accepting accounts less than 6 month older [1]

[1] This quote has been cut down to the part I'm trying to demonstrate. Complete quote below:
I am sorry but we are not accepting accounts with negative trust, lower than Jr Member rank or with less than 6 month older
492  Other / Meta / Re: New BPIP report on Bitcointalk.org posts that are "merited the most times" on: January 05, 2019, 02:58:36 PM
Read it

I just did  Grin I wish I used to visit Altcoin Announcements section so that I could have a laugh too at that time, and throw some posts in there as well.  Grin
493  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to post more effectively and get more Merit. on: January 05, 2019, 02:46:36 PM
1- Don't be a 1-liner shitposter
even if there is nothing much to say , just type some bullshit to fill in your actual words.

A post is not subject to have a bigger size or length in order to become constructive or merit-worthy, but the content it stats makes it one. Dragging your answer purposely from only a sentence to three or four would only make it look worse if you don't have any extra points to add into it.

2- Don't post  China great wall text

nobody has got the time nor the mood to read 30 lines for the same person unless it was Satoshi explaining  how to get free bitcoin.

What I said in answering the first quote applies for this as well. The size or length of a post depends on the nature of the topic being discussed, and as long as your post makes some sense and is properly constructed, no matter how large it is but it would still get the attention it deserves.

3- stick to simple format

don't use capital / bold / kinder-garden like colors / weird ICO symbols on your tittle.

There is always a way to use something, otherwise it would have never been created at the first place. Using these attributes/properties would only make your post look ugly if you use them in the wrong manner. Otherwise, there is no harm in using them if you know what you are doing.
About the title thing, you are right. Using anything extra in the title doesn't really make it look better or attract readers towards it. The text in the title is what the genuine readers see before opening a thread.
494  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Isn't this merit thing getting more monopolistic politics? on: January 05, 2019, 02:22:09 PM
- Are merits actually being circulated between those who really need deserve it?

Yes, they are, eventually. I am and a lot of other members are examples of that.
What I personally do is that I don't see the ranks or the need of the poster while handing out Merits. What I see is the post itself, and the history of the poster in some cases when the poster is relatively new to my eyes and has a lot of posts but no Merits yet. Probably If I was a Merit Source or something , who uses to have too many sMerits to hand out, I might had other thoughts, but for now, that is what I do, and I think what I'm doing has nothing wrong with it. Correct me if I'm wrong about that.

- Are they also helping out others through their sMerits?

Yes again. Maybe not everyone out there, but for the majority if I speak, they are.

most people don't use their merits by not sharing them with those who deserve them.

From what I've experienced so far, I think 'most' isn't the correct word here, but 'some' is the word I would personally use in that statement if I were to say it, since there aren't a lot of people (I'm not counting Merit abusers and farmers in this) who would keep their sMerits to themselves rather than giving them out for the posts that deserve Merits. If that was really the case, I doubt if any of the good posters who have ranked up by earning Merits could have possibly done it.

Reason?!

Just to stop others from being promoted to higher ranks so as to reduce competition and keep it low (with the fear of losing their own position in that campaign as few may not be confident enough of their capabilities of remaining in the same), they try their best not to share their merits ahead.

That is a new one for me. I could never think like that, nor I've ever thought that someone could have a mindset like that.
495  Other / Meta / Re: New BPIP report on Bitcointalk.org posts that are "merited the most times" on: January 05, 2019, 12:31:29 PM
Great work!

What is thisShocked An ANN posted by theymos and the thread full of spam by reputable forum members.  Shocked Is it some kind of troll? I just saw it today from the list of All time most merited posts.
496  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: is there anyway to get my bitcoins back? on: January 04, 2019, 01:19:55 PM
Why didn't you save the private key instead? I've never used multibit personally, so I don't really have much knowledge about it. If you had saved the private key of your wallet, it wouldn't have been a problem since it could have been inserted in any wallet supporting private key insertions and you would have you old wallet back with the balance in it (if not stolen, which is very rare to happen).
497  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: bitcoin lowest value of the year. Other perspective on: January 04, 2019, 11:24:45 AM
It probably gives hope to the holders who have invested in early 2017 when the price was nearly around $1,000 or something and they would find happiness seeing a yearly growth in the price, but if I see it from the eyes of an investor from early 2018, it would break my heart since I would only see the price being way too low from the range where I have bought them and it would take too many years to even get me my ROI with this pace of growth.

Truly, the people who have invested their money into Bitcoin when it reached the peak early last year (I'm talking about 2018 since we are in 2019 now  Tongue) were really unfortunate if they were planning to hold. Some of them might have sold when the price started to crash, but some of them might have kept patience with the hope that the price would recover soon. I really feel bad for them.
498  Other / Meta / Re: A different approach to solving the sig spamming problem. on: January 03, 2019, 11:14:42 AM
If Bitcoin Talk introduced a shop, and one of the items for "sale" was the right to display a signature, then signatures could become a privilege that had to be earned through responsible posting. Credits could be removed for bad posting, and added automatically for responsible posts.

It can work, but can be abused as well like all other systems around.
A good/responsible post could be a post that earns Merit(s) which would automatically earn credits for the member. And a bad post could be a post that has been accurately reported and deleted by a mod-- resulting a deduction of credits. Earned credits should be given per Merit received by the post-- e.g: 5 Credits per Merit or something. The same should apply for the deduction. If a user earns 2 Merits and gets one of his posts deleted in a thread, he would still have credits for 1 Merit.
499  Other / Meta / Re: HOW do I get merit? on: January 03, 2019, 10:50:30 AM
as I think of it having those other Ranks to get demoted then I guess we will be flooded again by numerous and countless of posts whining about being demoted.

Let it be. Those whines would start to disappear as soon as they realize it is not really helpful and they won't get their rank back for free but they will have to work hard to get it back. If they can't reach their respective ranks after the demotion, then they never really deserved it.

And some will surely cheat on their Merits again just like what happened before when Theymos implemeted that 1 Merit requirement for Jr. Members.

They can't. They can get 1 Merit by cheating and rank up to Jr. member, but what's next? Such cheaters would never even make it to Member rank-- Full member and above would only become a dream for them.
500  Other / Meta / Re: HOW do I get merit? on: January 02, 2019, 01:47:19 PM
I think the time has come to demote users with zero earned merits  Tongue so that we don't feel bad when we see a post like this being posted by a Sr. member who claims to have been a member for many years in the forum but doesn't even know what's going on around.
