why pay to use your robot when buy and hold is just as profitable?

I am not forcing anyone to buy or trade bitcoins. Like I said, the Price may grow or may not, the robot is profitable no matter if the price is rising or going down.

From July 1 the price on Mtgox went from 100 usd to 130 now so theoretically you would be in 30% profit with drawdown as huge as 30 % (on july 6 Price went to 70 usd only). At the same time the robot made around 60% profit with Drawdown just 10%.

Moreover nobody can guarantee that bitcoin price will grow forever, while the robot trades effectively on both up and down moves.

I don't trust the robot at all and still believe there is some scam involved, making you rich in some isolated event. My guess is "bad trading" cause "somebody" found out how to play the robot.

Still, in a market that has only up movement with no down swing exceeding the trading fee there is no way to outperform the strategy of just holding. In fact the sum of these down swings is the absolute maximum bots can profit on unless they use nastier strategies like inducing panic by doing stupid stuff which is usually stupid.

In fact the efficiency of bots should be measurable by looking at volatility. Did volatility go down recently? Bots should be to blame.

If you consider buying the robot, please do the math: How much down movement is there on the exchange being traded? How much money did you pay for the license? How much money did others pay for licenses all together? If your conclusion that the robot can actually perfectly guess the down movements together with the competition by others using the same bot (twice the licenses should half the gains of each) and make you some profit without acting stupid at some point, go for it.
503  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Instawallet claim process on: August 27, 2013, 05:00:50 PM
When did you contact us (me or Arsy) about your "pending" claim ?
If you did not, I recommend you do, including you claim number.
No claim is "pending" without a reason.

Well, I said earlier that I assume the claims process is still accurately ongoing and don't feel like pressing charges or anything as long as people with more at stake keep you busy. Concerning my claim number, here it is:
Hmm, so these accusations should be resolved and I agree with steelboy that Boussac should not loose his professionalism which he did both in tone and in telling the world that steelboy has *****Ƀ. Boussac only owes me one remaining claim (34a28881-b884-4b44-94d2-669b4d46962c) of minor value but yeah, I provided proof and there was double claim on it, so I understand it might take time but I don't see why I should go to this address every now and then hoping not to miss the window of oportunity between them putting up the "yeah, I still want my money back" button and them deciding they are out of money.

About this:
You are not in a position to say whether a claim is rightful or not, except for your claims , if any.
I am talking about my claim only and yes, I have no clue if steelboy's claims are rightful. I wouldn't have commented on steelboy if you had paid out all my claims.

I understand that you maybe resolve claims biggest to smallest leaving tons of smallish balances in limbo but I have a suggestion on how to resolve the unworthy communication regarding almost dust claims: Why not send people that proofed bigger claims that you could connect to a crypto proof and that you paid out, their smaller claims as well, up to a total of $x of your own money? You would loose $y to unrightful claims while saving $z on support. x is of course not an easy to pick number but making it $1000 for all outstanding claims would definitely do more good than harm.
504  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Instawallet claim process on: August 27, 2013, 04:03:52 PM

Oh, so revealing one fact by a customer authorizes you to reveal another fact publicly? So if I told publicly that there is "only one claim of 0.01Ƀ outstanding", I should expect you to disclose the paid claims of 10.000.000Ƀ? Makes sense.

Absolutely, if you are trolling this Forum to spread truncated information insinuating (like you do) "wrong doings", behind the comfort of your anonymity.
If anyone had a reasonable, documented claim for a wallet, the channel was open on instawallet.org and the payouts have been sent.

What are you talking about? I'm not anonymous. Little searching links Giszmo to Leo Wandersleb in many cases. I'm not trolling. At least not willingly. You did not pay out all rightful claims. At least one of mine is still pending.
505  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker - Hardcore on: August 27, 2013, 06:04:15 AM
What just happened?

Someone heard some good news before we did? At least i hope that's the case.

Probably good gox news that's not public yet....

If it's Gox news I would rather guess it's bad news.
506  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2013-08-26: Congrats! You are now part of the Start-Up Chile network on: August 27, 2013, 03:29:32 AM
It's certainely a good thing, I just hope that they keep the support up unlike the other hundreds of projects they help for a year and then drop because they didn't work the first run...

As someone from Chile though, I feel good knowing there's more interest in Bitcoin Tongue

Uh, what are you talking about? SUP is a program that gives you 40k over a span of 6 months little strings attached. They help you get known by VCs and you get to know tons of cool people from other startups. I won SUP before with a team myself and can't complain at all. I know many that are here since years now with support from other incubators. What do you expect? That they continue pumping money into startups until they succeed no matter what? I would say SUP already supports too many startups that have no chance in the world becoming a billion dollar company.

Edit: I know some Chileans see SUP as a waste of money and I hope SUP will succeed to proof undeniable return on investment with some gem they helped to become the billion dollar company but personally I doubt that the money is wasted even if there is no such company that pays taxes exceeding the volume put into SUP companies as many things just start happening that wouldn't happen if not for SUP entrepreneurs doing them in Chile instead of their countries of origin.

Coin4ce was accepted by the Chilean incubator Start-Up Chile:

Quote
Coin4ce: Chile – Coin4ce is a Bitcoin company building next-generation wallet solutions that overcome the biggest challenges faced by Bitcoin users globally — issues such as volatility management and convenient high-security storage. Using Coin4ce’s tools, Bitcoin users worldwide can manage price fluctuation, and conveniently access their Bitcoins without compromising security.

http://startupchile.org/congrats-you-are-now-part-of-the-start-up-chile-network/

Start-Up Chile is an English incubator designed to attract international start-ups run by CORFO, a governmental organization that was founded in 1939. The big goal is to build a one billion dollar company by 2015. To achieve this, every hundreds of start-ups are granted $40,000.

To my knowledge a 70 years old governmental organisation giving $40k to develop some cool bitcoin company is the farthest Bitcoin ever got in terms of governmental endorsement Wink

I agree with steelboy that Boussac should not loose his professionalism which he did in telling the world that steelboy has *****Ƀ.

Your reading of the thread might have been only partial, teacher:
here is the post written by steelboy on July 29 about his memory recovery and short lived happiness at receiving his payout from Instawallet:

Quote
My happiness at receiving my coins nearly made me forget about another wallet that I was talking with Davout about in IRC. I have sent a PM about it (the wallet with 232 if you remember Davout.)

So I should be dragged in the mud but with my hands tied in the back preferrably ?
If anyone starts throwing numbers on this open forum, one should expect the whole story will be told.

By the way, we set up a claim process allowing people to keep their claims private at our own costs.
I don't believe a 100% satisfaction rate would have been a realistic goal.

Oh, so revealing one fact by a customer authorizes you to reveal another fact publicly? So if I told publicly that there is "only one claim of 0.01Ƀ outstanding", I should expect you to disclose the paid claims of 10.000.000Ƀ? Makes sense. Still I would prefer you would work on releasing the outstanding funds instead of crawling the forum to make up lame excuses for your wrong doings. Doesn't make you look more professional anyway.

Alright, btw that code :

Code:
bitmt.gopagoda.com/w/wp-track dot.php

That page is hosted on pagodabox app's hosting,i'll contact them to remove it.

removing it should be pointless. they should provide who put it there.

i love anonymity but i also love seeing stupid thieves go to jail.

Is it totally safe to use Mycelium now?

Edit: Breathing the air around you is not totally safe neither.

tosaki's last post is 2 weeks old and nobody explains stuff. bitmit is dead for me until things are sorted out.

Not sure if this got clear here:
Of course other apps can access the clipboard and if they request it in the manifest (the user gets warned about that) also to the sdcard.
Users should be aware that it is as easy as 3 lines of code to get any app to wake up whenever anybody puts anything into the clipboard.
Such an app can then parse and granted it has internet access, send the private key home.

I guess watching a folder on the sdcard is about as trivial.

Conclusion: This will happen. Some greedy guy at rovio or whatever app that has millions of users will put these 3 lines there and enjoy some extra money. Take this serious and follow Jan's advice to not trust hundreds of apps with your money. It's bad enough that any core dev at google could essentially do the same but I guess the Q&A is quite tight there. Expect it to happen there, too and don't put all into one basket (note to myself).

I'm leaning towards "no" since we're not exactly a money making machine. Thought maybe this will help us become one? Comments?

I lean to "no", too. He may have you on the show for free but I would strongly suggest not to divert any of the donations towards ads.

Can someone explain to me the situation at gox.

If I try to withdraw my dollars from there to a UK bank, will it not happen at all? Or take two weeks?

Let us know. I bought at $104 for $10 above other exchanges to get my money out cause I didn't feel like trying as under normal circumstances I had transactions taking 3 weeks. Last thing I read I guess here on this thread was somebody waiting a month and not getting anything.
