… and please get a bug tracker. I fear I might repeat myself (or others) and a bug tracker makes it easier for you to prioritize stuff and tell your users to have fixed it.
942  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Bitmit - Bitcoin shopping mall (Translators wanted) on: March 02, 2013, 01:03:40 PM
Other issue:
Items might be shipped from other countries than my own but in the items it is always shown as German Flag -> Worldwide for example. This got me confused with BTCGlobal's shipping from China that was marked as something European.
This breaks also the filter for "shipped from …".
I go to Chile now and can't change my country to Chile without providing these?

How is the solution for NSFW stuff? Does the seller have to mark it? I can't see such a checkbox. If not, you would have to approve every single picture change to not have these pictures in the Recently added tab that you open at random as the landing page.

Other picture-issue: I'm sure you noticed these pictures:

black!=white. It had happened with one of my scanned coins, too that a small corner that was black in the photo was white on your site. I saw this a lot on your site but now I feel it got less so maybe you fixed it for new pictures already.
Edit: I would be interested to hear how this error came along as it looks like a flood fill from the top left corner in all cases I have seen and not just a color replacement and I wonder which tool would do a flood fill as I assume you don't do flood fills on purpose.

I kind of feel like I should charge you for doing your Q&A:
While open in new tab technically does work now (thanx), middle mouse button to open in new tab does not work as it both opens in new tab and in the current tab.
Depending on the selected zoom level (both >100% and <100%) the am and pm in the date column wraps to the next line making the inbox ugly.
Also the start of the message being displayed after the subject wraps to the next line sometimes. Having messages with one and two lines is ugly. Better make them all two lines if all one line is not an option. In other places you have a nice mouse over to show more. That should do the trick here, too.
"select all" is missing.
"mark as read" is missing.

(nice single item ajax deleting by the way Smiley I like a lot of the ajax you do but I guess I would do stuff in this case in bulk to reduce server load.)

I really appreciate your feedback, thank you. As you might have already seen I converted your suggestions to reality.
Almost. Middle mouse button which is configured to open in a new tab not only in my browser (chrome) does not open a new tab. right click to open in new tab takes about 100x longer.

Yes I know I might bore you but could you please tell me asap how I can access the description and photos of my auction after they ended? ..
Also please state how long this information will stay available after the money was released from escrow/the escrow was settled.
Simply go to the order page and navigate to the auction sale. Then you can click the item link you see at the order summary.
Oh, ok, now I see. Not sure if others struggle as much as I did but a general rule of thumb is that for every report of an issue you have x100 more people running into this without reporting it. If I was the only one reporting this issue, either I'm the only "blind" user or the sample size is too small Wink

Also I don't know if it should be publicly available who is buying what. I would follow the way ebay does it and replace giszmo by g**o. Of course the seller should see the full names at all time so he can delay shippings to batch stuff for people that bid on more than one auction ending close to each other.
I want to add privacy options on the site very soon. Especially for the user page users should be able to choose if the item names are displayed (or how old are ordermust be that this information is censored).
Great Smiley
I would consider instant anonymity towards non-related users a big plus as "archive.org" might break the purpose else.

I must say I really appreciate your continuous work with the site, "tosaki". Bitmit is a great asset in the bitcoin community and economy.
… and you're a good seller offering cool stuff for a fair price Smiley
But yes, I also want to thank tosaki for working on the site although as long as no name is revealed I continue fearing for all my money in escrow as running with this money is becoming more and more profitable and I fear the day his provider cuts the lines for not providing the legal papers. Giving bitmit a legal framework before coming out of the closet means it is at immanent threat right now. I could think of millions of ways how he could "get hacked" just when things get hot and claiming …

Preparing a proper business corporation which passes all laws and principles in connection with Bitcoin takes some time so I please you to be patient until we reveal all details about us and our business. Aside from that there are established entities in the Bitcoin community we are connected with and who know about us.

… aka claiming to be Bruce Wagner or something like that does not make me more comfortable trusting him not to run with the money when the numbers turn south.

Trust me the day you reveal your reputable identity and show some firm legal backing I will stop pestering you with this detail and fully support bitmit. I strongly believe bitmit will outperform bitcoinstore (do they have customers already?) thanks to the network effect.
945  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Please upgrade to Bitcoin 0.8 and help Android/MultiBit users! on: March 02, 2013, 12:55:26 AM
An adb log from around the time it vanished might help us figure that out.

BTW we have an experimental version that does the initial sync much faster. It still needs some more work, but once it's done would you be willing to test it again?

logcat. Good point. Check this out:
Code:
I/ActivityManager( 2492): START {act=android.intent.action.MAIN cat=[android.intent.category.LAUNCHER] flg=0x10200000 pkg=de.schildbach.wallet cmp=de.schildbach.wallet/.WalletActivity bnds=[192,467][288,610] u=0} from pid 2726
E/Nova.Launcher( 2726): Unable to launch. tag=ShortcutInfo(title=Bitcoin intent=Intent { act=android.intent.action.MAIN cat=[android.intent.category.LAUNCHER] flg=0x10200000 pkg=de.schildbach.wallet cmp=de.schildbach.wallet/.WalletActivity bnds=[192,467][288,610] }id=91 type=1 container=-100 screen=4 cellX=2 cellY=3 spanX=1 spanY=1 dropPos=null modelGeneration=2) intent=Intent { act=android.intent.action.MAIN cat=[android.intent.category.LAUNCHER] flg=0x10200000 pkg=de.schildbach.wallet cmp=de.schildbach.wallet/.WalletActivity bnds=[192,467][288,610] }
E/Nova.Launcher( 2726): android.content.ActivityNotFoundException: Unable to find explicit activity class {de.schildbach.wallet/de.schildbach.wallet.WalletActivity}; have you declared this activity in your AndroidManifest.xml?

I would guess I should not be the only one to have this problem. I have no clue how this ever can have worked but it tries to start de.schildbach.wallet.WalletActivity which according to this repository should be de.schildbach.wallet.ui.WalletActivity.
Hmm… on the other hand the Manifest defines an activity-alias … never used that.

It is not a nova launcher issue neither as the play market also states it is not installed.

When it happens again, I will check if the apk is here or not. The data was here. I pressed reboot and while it was shutting down I noticed it mentioned no bitcoins received yet although it showed me 0.2BTC, so it must have been reusing the old data.
After the reboot the transaction history was correct with the correct label as given before the install.

Ok I just uninstalled and installed again and that wiped the data as expected from a normal uninstall.

Oh, funny. With the ANRs I had I put it to a charger and it ran out of battery despite the fact it was connected and switched off. Now when I click on the bitcoin wallet button I get a toast saying App isn't installed.

The app isn't there at all? I don't know how that can happen unless you uninstalled it. What phone/version of Android is this?
Well, I'm an Android dev, too, so yeah, I'm pretty surprised as well to say the least. If I uninstall an app, the app icon disappears from the launcher but that did not happen. The market told me it was uninstalled and when I clicked the launcher icon, it toasted the same. After istalling it again it was back with all the ANRs.

I have a Defy that had Android 2.1 installed so I (ok, it was my brothers that almost bricked and finally did it after 10h) upgraded it to 4.1 AOKP.

Also the blockchain is still 6 months behind despite the phone having been at the charger for hours.

Uhm, now I'm really slightly pissed. It disappeared again. I have no clue how it does so.
Code:
$ adb shell
# cd data/data/de.schildbach.wallet/files/
# cat key-backup-base58
# KEEP YOUR PRIVATE KEYS SAFE! Anyone who can read this can spend your Bitcoins.

… slightly relieved but still … will try to get my 0.2Ƀ to a working wallet and wait for the schildbach wallet to mature some more.
Unfortunately Spinner just today told me its server was not responding neither. This is not good Sad

Edit: Successfully imported the key to my desktop wallet.

Yes I know I might bore you but could you please tell me asap how I can access the description and photos of my auction after they ended? I know these still exist as the links in my signature work after the auction ended but when I don't have a bookmark to the exact auction, the order id does not get me there. The full link is needed and I don't have that for all my auctions and urgently need the photos to be able to send my customers the exact stuff they were ordering.

Also please state how long this information will stay available after the money was released from escrow/the escrow was settled.

Another nice feature would be to include finished auctions in queries to see at which price certain items settled before.

Also I don't know if it should be publicly available who is buying what. I would follow the way ebay does it and replace giszmo by g**o. Of course the seller should see the full names at all time so he can delay shippings to batch stuff for people that bid on more than one auction ending close to each other.

Edit: Ok, my browser remembered the url but please link the item in the order page.

The Euro have had a bad week http://finance.yahoo.com/echarts?s=EURUSD%3DX+Interactive#symbol=;range=5d;compare=;indicator=volume;charttype=area;crosshair=on;ohlcvalues=0;logscale=off;source=undefined;

Europeans preparing for another squash, so maybe there are Euros coming this way next week?

Well, fiscal cliff is in the news, too, so I would guess there are also a bunch of dollars flowing in.

If there was a button to remove all my posts from certain threads, I would see how threads could get significantly shorter or stall at a certain length. Especially when they are soooo off topic like this thread. Maybe an admin started enforcing the rules from the OP and deletes all posts without pictures Wink

Trader allcoin is a scammer I would guess.

What slightly worries me now is that his only bidder is somebody who bought from me and has his money still in escrow as my coins did not reach him yet. Well, my first impulse was that bidders at allcoin's auctions might be support scammers to raise awareness to the auction but I'm pretty sure pocketkang knows the value of the item offered so he just bids on what looks like a good deal.

Why is allcoin a scammer? He wants to be paid before shipping and has no track reckord yet. It defeats the rules of Bitmit/escrow that disallows no-escrow transactions to demand being paid before delivery.
951  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Bitmit and Co. are buyers markets because they are a way to get bitcoins on: March 01, 2013, 12:02:43 PM
ebay has it to where you can "buy it now or best offer" - since theres a lot of buy it now style listings, i think they should allow the option of letting people make offers on items, or at least let the sellers be able to toggle the option. (ex. person sells an item for 2.4 btc, and i want to offer the person 2.2 btc)

Ok but this already exists. In bitmit you can sell for $10 and auction for $1 at the same time. If the buyer offers $10 he gets it immediately, else at the end of the auction, the highest bid wins.
952  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Bitmit and Co. are buyers markets because they are a way to get bitcoins on: March 01, 2013, 11:14:49 AM

You are not selling. You are offering. Also why would I trust you not to forget the pirvate keys? People selling pirvate keys have a hard time earn credibility like Casascious.
Edit: Well, ok, maybe you are selling but do you know if you sell at value? These addresses are kind of hard to estimate the true market value so you can't counter my claim by advertising your sale.
953  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Bitmit and Co. are buyers markets because they are a way to get bitcoins on: March 01, 2013, 11:12:58 AM
I think that bitmit should have a best offer system for their buy it now type listings. Also they should allow you to "watch" other auctions that are about to end.

What do you mean by "best offer system"? Buy it now instantly ends the auction if it also is an auction. There are no other offers then.

There is a soon ending tab where you can filter for auctions.

eBay > 1 Trillion Daily Users

BitMit < 1 Billion Daily Users

There are a ton more sellers and buyers on ebay, naturally prices will be lower as the auction site is congested to hell, bitmit is a relatively new site with a not commonly used currency, which people want a lot of.. the only way you can see BitMit succeed is by using it yourself and by spreading the word as much you can, hopefully all the time and effort people put in to bitcoin will pay off when it becomes and 'accepted' currency but until then you'll have to accept rarely selling anything for a good price, if at all

Well, Bitmit has according to tosaki (whever tosaki is today) 70 registrations per day. My conclusion is that these are not bitcoin early adopters that want to buy something with their coins but that these are almost only people that want to get first bitcoins. Traffic alone does not drive prices.

@kalinka: You tried to sell stuff to other sellers and finally were successful when you came back to those that have the bitcoins.

I think this could really be a driver for people to buy bitcoins first to buy stuff with it as there really is some cheap stuff on bitmit.

(And yes, there are some idiots trying to sell coins worth 50ct. for $10. There are many such offers, too, but I am refferring to the dilemma that auctioning for $0.0001 will not only not get a fair price but often not even find a buyer.)

957  Economy / Marketplace / Bitmit and Co. are buyers markets because they are a way to get bitcoins on: March 01, 2013, 12:04:37 AM
At Ebay you get German Silver Coins for twice the face value. At bitmit, people are barely paying face value. I wondered why that is so and I guess it is because the ratio of people buying to people selling is much more on the sellers side on bitmit simply because this is an easy way to get bitcoins. Now I'm afraid people will not stay around to auction their stuff at bitmit which in turn makes it worse. Makes sense?
958  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker on: February 28, 2013, 07:23:18 PM
Part of it might be that the early investors you speak of are all but cashed out.
Source to back up your generalizing statement?

I have no source.  Which is why I used the word "might".  I was speculating, like everyone else in this thread.

I think it's 99% true, the early guys got in at $0.001/BTC, and when BTC hit $10, any sensible guy will cash out for a 1000X profit, even if BTC reach $100 that's just 10X more profit, why would they risk it all for 10X more profit, when they already got 1000X.

Because then they'd have 10,000x profit?

Sounds great to me.

You don't understand, going from 1000X to 10000X is only a 10X profit, while the risk is extremely high. Any sane person would cash out majority of his holdings at 1000X, instead of wait for 10000x

You don't understand how past performance relates to future performance. If the early adopters that are holding after x1000 are insane then the new comers buying now are insane just as much.

In December I was all in. For some reasons (life) I am not all in now and don't feel like going all in again but I for sure don't feel like going all out neither.
959  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] LocalBitcoins.com - a location-based bitcoin to cash marketplace on: February 28, 2013, 05:34:46 PM
compromise:
add a location "online" and people who want to advertise in places more than 300km apart, are considered professional traders that may well be charged a fee for listings. "Oh, so you are Western Union? You can bulk-upload your shop's locations via our API Wink … and, by the way, it's not for free to list here as a business"

If you still believe this is a bubble, then now would be a good time to spend your Bitcoins.
