I really like using localbitcoins.com.
I use it just to make contact and I don't want to make the deals on the site or use the escrow at all. I determine price on spot at the meeting and do the transaction through the blockchain.
It would be cool if there wa be a feature to mark an offer as "contact only". It would work pretty much like it does now, except it doesn't lock in a price. It would still offer the conversation feature.
Is that something you would consider, kangasbros?
That's basically how I want to do it, too. Problem is, kangas want to earn money with that. I would consider charging a fee for verifying passport, address, bank account etc. would be fair enough. You can mark all others as potential scammers some day.

Just for your information, I will reconsider my hasty decision (I was a little bit frustrated because the server crash ruined some days I have reserved with my real life..) However, I will give you 100% transparence if the site is going to be sold. Besides of that I am aware that Bitmit plays an important role in the Bitcoin community and my intention has always been to contribute to Bitcoins succeed in order to create a better world & financial system.
Good to hear. I would like to very strongly urge you to reveal your identity in a manner that it can be verified, there has been a severe breach of trust and you need to rebuild it. I can only back that. I'm really eager to throw on bitmit 1000 more or less valuable coins but wouldn't want to use escrow if things are so dependent on the mood of a random chinese-german anonymous guy.

Are you doing Bitmit alone? Maybe extend your team, present faces, team up with others to regain confidence. All this back and forth left huge damage to bitmit's reputation.

Another reason to switch to coinpost.com - since you put in your own BTC address for payment, no funds are ever held in a wallet outside your control.
Hmmm … don't know if I would buy there … don't need women shoes size 7 and that's basically all for sale right now. Ok, joking aside I checked it out and while I'm really not up for buying and have no clue yet, I'm about to add some coins for sale. Physical coins. Old coins. Older than 2009. Which category would that be? https://www.coinpost.com/categories/collectibles-artI assume you are running coinpost.com or how come you know about it while nobody else here ever posted about it?

Who owns coinpost.com?
If I understand it right, coinpost.com doesn't want to hold coins? I didn't see fees yet but I expect it will cost something to refresh a listing. If not now, maybe later. I like the idea of services that don't hold my coins. Another reason to switch to coinpost.com - since you put in your own BTC address for payment, no funds are ever held in a wallet outside your control.

Feature requests:
- Ability to re-negotiate a 'buy' or 'sell' contact after a period of time. Hypothetical example: I have a buyer from a month ago who didn't stay in touch, and now they want to buy. But the contact is fixed at the rate it was a month ago, and doesn't reflect market prices. I'd love to have the option to update the request without cancelling and having the buyer/seller re-send the request.
- Ability for seller to auto-cancel a contact with a buyer if the buyer doesn't respond after a certain period of time (two weeks?). If the seller sends a message to a buyer, which doesn't receive a reply within a given amount of time, it auto-cancels the contact and sends a message to the buyer, "Buy request cancelled due to inactivity" or such, so the buyer knows they're to blame for not continuing the back-and-forth communication (not the seller being evil for cancelling a buy order).
Just a couple of thoughts. Thanks kangasbros for your hard work!

With bitcoin volatility and many people having no rating at all yet, I have a problem with the whole concept. If I don't know if I can trust my trade partner, why should I honor the rate that he locked in when agreeing on my deal? Maybe I put coins in escrow and wait a month to find him finally ready to buy as value went up 100% or if value went down 5% he simply locks in yet another deal with some other dude? Sure, one day when all have great ratings and reputation on the site, this will not happen that much but right now I see this as a big problem.

Tosaki ][: Mind linking the post where you officially took over, being introduced by the former owner, cause that's how I would consider serious business doing it. I also support the demand for full disclosure of your identity.
In the end Tosaki ][ only makes it look like he's not Tosaki I after all so he can run with our money claiming he's got nothing to do with it?

Feature: Please allow to filter for Auctions starting at 0. I find it all so cluttered by expensive crap that does not belong to the category and with such an option I could really stand out with stuff I really want to sell.
I'm planning to sell coins and the category "coins and bullions" is cluttered with totally overpriced stuff like "1 Deutsche Mark Coins 1962 & 1974" which are worth exactly 1€ and the auction starts at 3€. Your current policy attracts people to post shit hoping somebody will buy it some day. Barely any items labeled as auctions get any bids. Please create an incentive to put reasonable prices like eBay does. 1€ auctions for free. Everything else costs a listing fee. This is not to make you rich but to make it usable for your clients. You can re-invest this fee 100% into adwords for bitmit. I don't care but please introduce a fee or any incentive to not clutter the market with bullshit. It will not work if you allow crap all over the place.

Guys don't be so hard on Charlie. Charlie did a really really great job and should not stress about details. I'm sure he has best intentions to find a good balance between relaxed talking and accurate information.
You are seriously discussing now if we will assymptotically reach 21,000,000Ƀ or if we will stop at 20,999,999.9999999Ƀ. Saying "No Fees" vs. "Very small fees" also is a political decision that some favor the one over the other for their agenda. It's not like he wouldn't know these details. If you feel like he doesn't know the difference between successor and predecessor (seriously?) mention it, else please relax a bit about a great interview.
