You reveal your identity only to Jumio
That part is clear to me, and that's the part I'm not ready to do.
Is the problem just Jumio or any KYC service?

I believe at some point boss Tony said that he (at least in theory) could see the identity information linked to specific addresses if he wanted to. I think he implied her had not and had no reason to, but is this not the case?

Quote
"We have designed the rules to favor of participants with smaller balances, so larger balances don't result in lots of additional points."

This is simply not true. It's designed to favor people that have a lot of GBYTE already. An attested user with 20 GBYTE will receive 11 points, while an anonymous user with 1000 GBYTE will receive 100 points, or 10k GBYTE holder will get 1000 points.

The Byteball richlist only shows the top 100, but those addresses all contain approximately 1k GBYTE up to 10k GBYTE or more. If you analyze the people that have currently entered the drawing here http://draw.byteball.org there are currently 828 total points, and about 414 of those points are owned by addresses of people that already have at least 200 GBYTE - so currently there is a fifty percent chance that someone who already owns 200 or more GBYTE will get a bonus of 200 more.

In my opinion this is anything but favoring people with smaller balances, and seems to run completely counter to trying to get more people involved.

I'd have no problem in attesting my wallet, and was even planning to do it, but not exactly using the address where I'm keeping all my funds. So I guess this lottery makes little sense for me. I'm allergic to lotteries anyway - it's dangerous to hope to win a lottery because you never know WHICH lottery you will end up winning - and most of the lotteries out there are just waiting to get someone killed.
Yes and the wales skip that lottery. Nobody link >945 GB with attestation like here http://draw.byteball.org/

Oh look who has the most points and so greatest chance to win - unattested addresses with hundreds of GBYTE already. Who better to give another 400 GB per week to? This is just crazy, I guess not really surprising considering the way things have gone with this coin, but crazy nonetheless.

Looking forward to the rebrand to see what insanity comes next  Cheesy

OK, that's yours, but the top 100 averages probably have on average at least 1k GBYTE, meaning the top 100 probably have 100x greater probability to win than any peon. It just seems like a game for whales.
507  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: December 08, 2018, 08:57:59 PM
How is this improved if the goal is to distribute to as many people as possible? One person a week is as many as possible?

Add those who participate.  Even if they don't win, they learn about byteball.

Why would anyone who doesn't already know about Byteball participate? Especially when you really only have a chance to win if you pay $10 to give/validate your identity to some relatively unknown Russian-based cryptocurrency (or buy a shitload of byteballs - a relatively unknown Russian-based cryptocurrency that is currently down 99% vs USD or something from ath). If people want to pay $10 to play the lotto there's many easier ways with likely much higher odds of winning than that. Sorry, I mean, I love gambling and lotteries, but this doesn't seem to be aligned with the stated goal of wide distribution.

Further, this is essentially heavily tilted towards whales, particularly whales that have been KYC'd, but whales in general. How does having a lottery that is extremely skewed towards people already rich in Byteball further distribution to more people?

To get the facts straight, the weight of whales is discounted by 90% if you read the rules, and there is of course no $10 charge for validating your identity.

Right, so take address #10 on the richlist for instance:
https://byteball.fr/Top100ByteballRichest.php

He owns 10k GBYTE, meaning he would get 1000x entries into the lottery compared to someone holding 1 GBYTE.

Also, I thought Jumio or whatever verification cost $10 or so. Is this not correct?

Don't see why ppl still post here, Byteball founder no longer posts on Bitcointalk, only Reddit https://www.reddit.com/r/ByteBall/comments/9yfbvt/i_am_tony_byteball_founder_and_lead_developer_ask/

Don't see why people spam the same comment on bitcointalk repeatedly.

Seriously though, the new lottery system is skewed very heavily towards people that already have tons of gbyte. Seems...not wise.

tarmo888 do you get paid to post here? It's just kind of weird the frequency of your responses and the alignment of your opinion on all issues with that of the powers that be. Just noticed your account is only a month old or so, and I remember there was another guy that came out of the blue who would post here defending the party line, meterse, though he seems to have gone away around the time you showed up. Just curious if it's an official like "community manager" position or if you will say that you're not being compensated or what...

I do not get payed to post here, I am not community manager (I have already said that), I am developer who apparently understood what Byteball is about in less than year than most here in 2 years.
It doesn't matter if I confess whether I am also meterse or not (Thul could be my alter-ego too), you can't really be 100% sure either way, that's a wonderful thing about anonymous forums.

But the fact that you needed to ask that shows how less you know what is going on with Byteball. Makes me wonder, what are you guys doing here? Sitting in the dark, criticizing everything, kind of weird hobby.

Lol just trolling. I got my tonyballs for free and haven't parted with all of them yet, so for the time being I feel free license to come bust Tony's balls.

You've been repeatedly claiming recently that the airdrops were a terrible idea. Why would you support a project that has 65% or whatever of total supply distributed by a horrible technique?

Parsing the semantics of "most" doesn't change the fact that distribution is pretty fukt.

So currently maybe 30-50% of bytes held by scammy ICOs?

Bitcoin airdrop was fukt idea, since Steem attestation, there has been 1 year vesting contract, so if people still sell and somebody hoards them, it is out of Byteball control. Welcome to cryptocurrencies, everybody can do anything with their money.

Kind of funny how you call bitcoin coinbase distribution method shitty a few posts ago, but byteball is basically owned by ICOs with a few crumbs now going to account farmers and bot netters, while bitcoin has the widest and truly the fairest distribution of any coin in all likelihood (you can't fake proof of work, you gotta burn to earn).

So, go try and earn with mining Bitcoin and let us know how much you got. It is long time ago past the threshold where everybody could participate.

There's estimated to be over one million unique miners, 200k on slush pool alone:
https://www.buybitcoinworldwide.com/how-many-bitcoins-are-there/

But you don't need to mine, you can buy, because mining has certain fixed and ongoing costs meaning there's economics behind what miners are willing to sell for. You can talk shit all you want but it's infinitely better than the clusterfuck byteball began as and the new clusterfuck it's morphed into with one guy making it up as he goes along.

Did any large ICOs participate in the air drop that weren't from Russia? Or were waves and lisk the only known ICOs to participate?

Can I be bothersome and request #s 11 and 33?

Probably not good news for Monero price in the short term, next week or three, but maybe over longer periods not necessarily bad news:
