501  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How much did you earn in the Time the Forum Was Down on: October 07, 2013, 08:26:57 PM
I bought 50 coins at $100, then sold them at $120 and made $1000 in a couple days.
502  Economy / Securities / Re: [LABCOIN] IPO [BTCT.CO] - Details/FAQ and Discussion (ASIC dev/sales/mining) on: October 07, 2013, 08:04:47 PM
Do we even know the real names of the people involved? Any chance of taking legal action against them?

It's not an insignificant amount of money.
503  Economy / Securities / Re: [BitFunder] Ukyo.Loan - Paying 0.05% daily. on: October 07, 2013, 07:24:01 PM
Why would people be selling this at under face value when then can simply be redeemed for face value. It makes no sense to me.
504  Economy / Securities / Re: [LABCOIN] IPO [BTCT.CO] - Details/FAQ and Discussion (ASIC dev/sales/mining) on: October 07, 2013, 06:59:02 PM
What are our chances of ever getting any of our IPO money back?
505  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: KNC ASIC Users Thread on: October 07, 2013, 05:27:51 PM
For those of you who are upgrading the case fans (maybe even going with 120mm fan with an adaptor), what fans are you planning on using?
506  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: October 07, 2013, 03:27:03 PM
Damn, I went with KNCMiner's recommendation of an 850W power supply. Will this be okay? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139022

maybe, but it is really minimum..why you are trying to save 100$ for device, which cost you thousands of dollars? just curious..

I wasn't. I just went with their recommendation. I would have spent more money if I thought it was needed. Thoughts on this?

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139034

It's fine. Maybe your PSU will die, but you can just get another. It's not going to break your miner. 850W is more than enough.

I got this one for my Jupiter: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004P1IWZU/ref=oh_details_o04_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
but I admit it's probably a little bit of overkill.
507  Economy / Speculation / Re: End of Silk Road is good for the long run on: October 02, 2013, 06:12:25 PM
Many people associated BTC with drugs and illegal activity. Once the smoke settles, BTC will be partially absolved of the obvious user of such activities. All that remains for MSM to broadcast are white activities and it will get more people interested in investing. Unfortunately we will have to wait for as much as a few months before consolidation is complete. The wise are probably getting their dry powder ready and getting the fishing hooks ready at different levels like $80, $70, $50, etc.

I think we are already near bottom.

Another site will pop up to take over Silk Road's business. This one won't be located in the US and the owners will be even more careful. There is a lot of money to be make in the black market and it's not going to disappear just because one site got busted.
508  Economy / Speculation / Re: Stop panic selling on: October 02, 2013, 06:08:50 PM
I agree. Take advantage of this by buying now while bitcoin is cheap!
509  Economy / Speculation / Re: The Great Silk Road Crash of 20** ...? on: October 02, 2013, 05:59:34 PM
It will bottom out at about $75, then climb back up to $100-$110.
510  Economy / Speculation / Re: what will the price be of bitcoins in one week after take over of SR on: October 02, 2013, 05:33:43 PM
People are freaking out, but Silk Road has competitors and another site will take it's place. Probably one not based in the US and not run by a US resident or citizen thus free from being shut down.
511  Economy / Securities / Re: "Average Joes" Invest on: October 01, 2013, 07:49:20 PM
He did take the time to make that nifty logo.

That should be worth something.
512  Economy / Securities / Re: [LABCOIN] IPO [BTCT.CO] - Details/FAQ and Discussion (ASIC dev/sales/mining) on: October 01, 2013, 07:16:00 PM
I haven't been around recently. It's Tuesday. Aren't we supposed to get Labcoin dividends today? I haven't gotten mine yet.

lol
513  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: September 30, 2013, 09:42:08 PM
It might have peaked at 596, but the sustained speed looks like it's going to be more like 500. I'm ok with 500, especially if they ship out my order within the next week!

I'm more concerned about power at the wall though. KNC seems like its going to be the most power hungry of all the gen 2 ASIC miners.
514  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: So what happened to Satoshi? on: September 27, 2013, 07:40:47 PM
He died in the tsunami in Japan a couple years ago
515  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Is this a bubble? on: September 27, 2013, 06:40:04 PM
OK.
Can you show me some similar real life graphs?
I mean graphs with something to be gained from.

Here are some other things that are also not bubbles:

Number of cell phones in US
http://i2.cdn.turner.com/money/2011/10/12/technology/cellphones_outnumber_americans/chart-wireless.top.gif

Number of cars registered
http://www1.eere.energy.gov/vehiclesandfuels/images/facts/fotw438.gif

World internet access

Number of websites

None of these things are bubbles either. At no point will the cellphone "bubble" "pop" and everyone will go and throw away their cell phones.

516  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Is this a bubble? on: September 27, 2013, 06:33:26 PM
This is not a bubble. It isn't even anything remotely related to the bubble. It's as far from a bubble as possible. It might as well be the opposite of a bubble.
517  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: What happens when ASICs cost more to produce than what they're worth? on: September 27, 2013, 05:50:10 PM
No one will mine either. The difficulty will drop and mining will become profitable enough that *someone* will be producing ASICs.
518  Economy / Securities / Re: [LABCOIN] IPO [BTCT.CO] - Details/FAQ and Discussion (ASIC dev/sales/mining) on: September 27, 2013, 05:47:24 PM
I'm still holding on to almost 40,000 shares. I'm riding this all the way to the bottom, baby!

519  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: ASIC arms race = the end of bitcoin? on: September 27, 2013, 05:36:49 PM
Just because the OP is bitter because he couldn't afford an ASIC doesn't mean the end of bitcoin.

ASICs are one of the best things to ever happen to bitcoin in terms of securing the network! The higher the difficulty, the better!

I'm tired of these whiny, FUD posts.
520  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Meanwhile on my car... on: September 25, 2013, 01:00:34 AM
Massachusetts is the worst for vanity plates. You have only have up to 6 characters and you can't mix letters and numbers. And registration when you have vanity plates costs 3 times as much ($75 per year). So no "BITCOIN" in this state I guess.
