5181  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UFC FN 105: Lewis vs Browne Info and Prediction Thread on: February 13, 2017, 07:57:46 AM
Elias Theodorou, Sara McMann and Carla Esparza might be good picks here.

A lot of the names on the undercard have never fought in the UFC event, which could make it difficult to know how good they are.

I think for this fight, Travis Browne did most of his training at blackhouse -- a different MMA gym from Edmond tarverdyan's glendale fight club gym.

Edmond was supposed to have visited once a week to train Travis for this fight but Travis didn't train with Edmond as much as he did for his last few fights.

There is also a bellator event, Matt Mitrione vs Fedor Emelianenko, a day before FN 105.
5182  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How to Turn Gambling into a Profitable Activity on: February 13, 2017, 03:22:39 AM
I've been trying to be profitable in sports gambling for a long time.

The method I use is to start with 0.001 & see how much I can profit or lose from that.

There have been a few times I've got as high as 0.016 from 0.001.

When I win that much I make bad decisions and always lose it all.

Managing greed & emotions & maintaining self control is what I have the most trouble with.

Even if I'm losing I feel like it is a good therapy to learn not to worship money and resist it influencing me.
5183  Economy / Economics / Re: EU ramps up war on cash on: February 13, 2017, 03:05:43 AM
It is not the banks that I would directly worry about. It is what the governments can do through the banks.
Government policies are no longer stable/predictable these days.

After the economic meltdown of 2008, when the TARP bank bailout bill was being drawn up by Chris Dodd. The process was defined by Chris Dodd asking banks what they wanted in the bank bailout bill and banks essentially getting whatever terms they asked for. It might be accurate to say banks control the government and wield a ridiculous amount of political clout. Banks want to outlaw money to give themselves a larger monopoly over currency exchange.

Banks having a monopoly over money is bad for everyone except banks. If the EU passes legislation which outlaws money it shows that banks are the ones in control, they're the ones running things behind the scenes telling government which laws to pass.
5184  Economy / Economics / Re: EU ramps up war on cash on: February 13, 2017, 12:00:41 AM
Monopolies are bad. They repress innovation, hinder progress and stagnate society.

Eliminating cash would give banks a monopoly over the exchange (and possible distribution) of currency.

Banks having a monopoly -- complete control over currency, would lead to banks abusing this power & the world would become a much worse place to live.

5185  Economy / Economics / Re: Why Bitcoin if Doomed on: February 12, 2017, 10:21:14 PM
There are a max of 21 million bitcoins. lets assume 5% of those are lost to forgotten addresses or other accidents. We now have 20 million coins. At a price of $1,000 per coin, that is 21 billion USD as a market cap. You cannot have a currency with such a low, irreversible cap. I do not see a future for BTC unless it rises to $100,000 per coin, which is unlikely
 Thoughts?

In january 2017, consumer spending in the united states for the year topped out at $11,640,000,000,000.

If there are 20 million bitcoins, 1 btc would need to be worth $582,000 & all btc would need to be spent in a 12 month period to match that.

If each bitcoin was worth $58,200 and each btc was spent 10 times in 12 months, that might get spending numbers near to that amount.

Or if each btc was worth $5,820 and each btc was spent 100 times in 12 months, that might work too.

Volume and exchange rates could factor into it to some degree.
5186  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you think Bitcoin can ruin a Country? on: February 11, 2017, 12:45:19 AM
The two main tax issues which ruin a country are.

Wasteful state spending -- the united states spending $6.5 trillion on their war in the middle east with no tangible positive returns and nothing to show for it.

Inefficient state spending -- public schools in the united states having per student costs rivaling the expense of harvard tuition.

Tax collection is seldom an issue, unless we're talking about countries like greece where tax avoidance is extremely widespread.

Also most avenues of tax collection, income taxes and so on are not bitcoin enabled which limits the degree to which taxes can be avoided.
5187  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UFC 208: Holm vs De Randamie Info and Prediction Thread on: February 11, 2017, 12:27:42 AM
Holly Holm is still in her prime and there are not many tough competition in the new weight division apart from Cyborg and her reaction and reflexes are perfect even in her last fight in which she lost ,the problem was her game plan ,since she is a counter striker she waited too long and Valentina countered perfectly to everything she thew at her,Randamie has to prove her MMA credentials and since there are not many talented fighters in the division she got the opportunity to fight for the inaugural belt.

Holly Holm isn't old.

Her boxing record is 33-2.
MMA record is 10-2.
Kickboxing record is 2-1.

Overall she is 45-5.

50 professional fights is some wear and tear.

Randamie kickboxing record is 37-0.
MMA record is 6-3.

Overall she is 43-3.

Valentina is also a decorated kickboxer with a 58-2 kickboxing record.

In terms of fighter lore, it is said that with aging fighters the first thing they lose is their reflexes.

Do you really watch the UFC? Holly Holm's reflexes slowing down? Accuracy waning? What are you talking about?

Why would Germaine want to have access to good sparring partners for wrestling and Jiu Jitsu? She is fighting Holly Holm! A professional boxer and a kick boxer after that before joining the UFC. Training for wrestling and Jiu Jitsu vs primarily a striker would be a waste of time.

Holly Holm was very accurate and sharp when she fought Ronda Rousey.

In her fights after that, her accuracy seems to have declined. She didn't land many punches or kicks on Miesha Tate or Valentina Shevchenko.

Most MMA fighters from europe come to the united states to train. It might be said that america has some of the best MMA teams, coaches and trainers.

Germaine De Randamie training in holland, I don't know if there are many skilled coaches or sparring partners there for her to work with.

Holly Holm has been working with Israel Martinez, Jon Jones and Anthony Pettis wrestling coach. Holly's wrestling is also very good in addition to her boxing and kickboxing.

Holly could go for a takedown if that is where her team thinks Germaine is weakest.
5188  Economy / Economics / Re: Do you Still believe in Fiat? on: February 09, 2017, 10:28:02 PM
If it is true that valuation of fiat is a mirror reflection of the trust and faith the public has in the leadership of nations who issue fiat.

Given the rise of extremism in the world, it could be said faith in fiat is decreasing.

People generally turn to extremism when they feel abandoned by politics and economics and their faith in those institutions diminishes.

The rise of extremism could be considered a lack of faith in government, in our leaders and society.

That lack of faith in government and world leaders could translate to a lack of faith in fiat.

If faith in governments and fiat decreases enough, eventually people will have more faith in crypto than fiat.

Maybe the valuation of alt coins could rise significantly then?
5189  Economy / Marketplace / Re: What Computer Games You Wish to Buy with BTC cheaper? on: February 09, 2017, 08:20:28 PM
I wish humble bundle didn't disable bitcoin payments. Their selection of indie games and relatively unknown quality titles is amazing at times. For those who have never heard of humble bundle, they offer multiple games at reduced price with a fraction of the funds going to charity. Very good deal.

Without them I would likely have never heard of games like TIS-100, infinifactory and other indie games that are very good.
5190  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Where would you invest if you had 40$/day ? on: February 09, 2017, 08:03:15 PM
$40 a day, comes out to approximately $1,240 a month.

If that was disposable income(money I didn't need to spend to survive) I would save until I could purchase a minimum of 1 acre of land(real estate investment).

With that 1 acre of land, I would work towards cutting my rent and food costs. Grow my own food, build a small house & eliminate electricity costs by switching to solar or wind energy.

With rent, food and electricity costs eliminated or reduced, that would provide a better platform to begin investing.

Most earnings are spent on food and rent. With those costs reduced it becomes much easier to afford entrepreneurship or starting a business.
5191  Economy / Economics / Re: Better adoption through use of mBTC on: February 09, 2017, 07:46:01 PM
mBTC isn't the most human friendly or intuitive terminology.

10,000 mBTC uses two variables to deduce a specific value.

10,000 and 1 millionth of a BTC.

It might be better if values lower than 1 BTC could be deduced using only a single parameter, rather than two separate parameters.

If only for simplicities sake.
5192  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UFC 208: Holm vs De Randamie Info and Prediction Thread on: February 09, 2017, 07:31:47 PM
Both Holly Holm and Germaine De Randamie are decorated in their respected sports and  Holly Holm too had kick boxing experience and if you compare their knockout records Holly Holm has more knockouts and even though Randamie is undefeated in kick boxing she is not a knockout artist.I have seen her fights and Germaine has a lot of flaws in her fight game and i am sure Jackson Wink will find a game plan to defeat her.

Holly Holm trained at Jacksonwink, an MMA gym from the time she was in high school, but never competed in kickboxing or MMA until her boxing career was over.  De De Randamie didn't have good wrestling and good takedown defense until late in her MMA career when she trained at american kickboxing academy, the same gym as Cain Velasquez, Daniel Cormier, Luke Rockhold and those big name MMA fighters. That's one reason for her record not being as impressive as it might have been. Even though De Randamie's wrestling has improved, I think Holly Holm is the stronger and better wrestler and the better athlete.

The main concern for Holly Holm, her reflexes and reactions could be slowing down. Her accuracy also could be waning. Main concern for De Randamie could be her training in a place where she might not have access to good sparring partners for wrestling and jiu jitsu.

I also think Holly Holm wins the fight. We will see.  Smiley

Am I the only one who thinks the main event is unpredictable?  It's a new weight class, so yeah less weight cutting and there's lesser strain for both fighters.  This could be something they could get used to from both their POV, they feel stronger and that gives them both more confidence.  This is closer to 50/50 I think.

Edit:  Oh and here's the media day face offs.  Nothing much to see though.  Everyone feels friendly except Jacare and the big bear.

I'm glad Holly Holm is fighting at 145 now and not cutting as much weight. Should be healthier for both of them.

I have to re-watch De Randamies last few fights. Right now I think Holly Holm should be the favorite to win.
5193  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2K17 CHAMPIONSHIP Discussion on: February 09, 2017, 07:15:43 PM
Have to go with golden state.

They had a good team last year, this year they added Kevin Durant to the roster which can only make them stronger.

They have the best record. They seem to have learned not to put too much energy into their regular season games and save their peak for the playoffs and championship series.

For all intents and purposes, they look like the same team from last year, only stronger, more mature and improved.

They are looking very dangerous.

5195  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you feel shameful for being a gambler? on: February 08, 2017, 07:24:40 PM
I don't feel ashamed for gambling.  Smiley

If I lost everything today, I won more than I lost.

What I am ashamed of is the way my greed influences my logic and decision making.

Self control and maintaining discipline is the most difficult part of gambling for me.

Learning to manage greed is one of the things that makes gambling worthwhile.
5196  Other / Politics & Society / Re: The universal revenue on: February 08, 2017, 07:19:42 PM
The government has more land than it needs.

The best approach is to donate state land to volunteer organized communal farms which can grow food to sustain the poor.

Then other forms barter, trade or education can be incorporated as an abstraction layer on top of that to prevent it from being a dead end existence.

Universal income is a bad system. There are no metrics nor incentives for socialised programs to be efficient or cost effective & that is a significant problem.
5197  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UFC 211: Miocic vs Dos Santos info and Prediction Thread on: February 08, 2017, 06:57:48 PM
The last time Stipe and JDS fought, it was a close fight.

Some people thought Stipe won, even though judges gave JDS the win.

Stipe Miocic seems to have improved since then. His skill and athleticism are better now.

On the flipside JDS seems to have regressed. He's not as good as he used to be.

I think Stipe will win.
5198  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Efficient way to eradicate corruption on: February 08, 2017, 06:44:37 PM
The best way to eradicate corruption and crime is to ensure a strong job market where everyone is able to work and have a good job, without needing to resort to nefarious means to provide for themselves & their families.

It invokes wealth and wage equality, a fair and decent standard of living for poor to middle class income earners.

Crime and corruption are what people turn to when they feel abandoned by politicians, world leaders & feel as if they have no hope. Crime is a last resort.
5199  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UFC 208: Holm vs De Randamie Info and Prediction Thread on: February 08, 2017, 06:38:17 PM
The main event should be interesting. Holly Holm is the most decorated boxer in the UFC, versus the one of the most decorated kickboxers in Germaine De Randamie. I think De Randamie is still training out of American Kickboxing Academy. Holly Holm trains at JacksonWink. De Randamie's ground game and wrestling have been suspect in the past when she fought Amanda Nunes. Cutting less weight means both of them should be sharper at 145 than they were at 135. Whoever wins can keep the belt warm until Cyborg returns.

I think there are a few guaranteed winners on this card. Odds are not good for them, too low.

Anderson Silva and Ronaldo "Jacare" Souza are now training together. There should be some good fights.

5200  Economy / Economics / Re: Tell me a secret: any way to earn 0.1 BTC per week? on: February 08, 2017, 06:19:36 PM
I earned more than 0.1 BTC per week betting on mixed martial arts fights.

That was years ago when it was easier to predict who would win fights and bookies weren't as good at setting odds.

It is much harder now.
