521  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: For newbies and plebs who want to self-study to become "traders" on: July 25, 2023, 11:01:05 AM
With the few years of experience I've garnered in trading, I'm of the opinion that those who jump up and down on social media brandishing one paid signal group, articles, books or the other aren't actually profitable. They're mere marketers. Those who trade for a living don't have time for such unnecessary involvement on daily basis.

Talking about those who think they can be self sufficient by solely learning on their own, my word to them is that they will easily and quickly burn out. In trading, no man is an island on his own. We need the knowledge of others to know where we truly stand. Cross fertilization of ideas is needed to help proper one further in life, trading especially.
They can learn from books, trading courses, videos, signal groups and can learn from warnings such as this topic. Unfortunately, learning by reading is not enough, never enough. They must experience with real trading practice which will help them to test knowledge they learn, test themselves including their deeply inside personal characteristics.

Hopefully they won't be burned out before they learn enough and practice enough in this risky market. If they survive, they will have good future because where there are risks, there are great opportunities.

That is such a sad thing but it is very true that they make a lot of money that way. I mean they end up just using fake signals, just signals based on some indicators that mean nothing which people can do themselves as well, and then they hope that those indicators hit.
It is necessary part for their adventure in cryptocurrency market as traders or investors. They can not mature in this market without such challenge.

Quote
I have seen people who even delete their old stuff without shame, and if anyone catches them, they just delete those responses as well.
Not only about deleting failed trading signals. If you notice on Twitter, now X, there are influencing accounts which have habits of spreading fud but later will return to delete their tweets.
522  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why local currencies when there is bitcoin ? on: July 24, 2023, 01:03:30 PM
No data yet showing that it help improve the economy since country like El Salvador seems struggling since bitcoin is really unpredictable in terms of its movement. But once they experience all scenarios for sure that country can see some change on its financial system or maybe the economy might get a good boost if there's good events will occur in the market. For now lets see how their adoption go and if they fail or succeed with this action they do.
El Salvador are doing like investing in Bitcoin and it can help they increase value of their national treasury. If they succeed, it is helpful for their national treasury but not for their financial system.

Their financial system only can be improved if they change its structure and operation. Bitcoin can not change El Salvador financial system if it is only one of assets in their national treasury.

Their nation can be richer if they succeed with Bitcoin investment but their finance will be the same if no structural things have been changed.
523  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Newbies can't profit from crypto without knowing how to trade. Truth or Myth? on: July 22, 2023, 02:51:17 PM
I overheard my coworkers discussing the idea that new investors in crypto cannot make profits without possessing trading skills.

Guys, I mean what other ways can newbies benefit from crypto investment without having to be a day trader or a professional trader. Because I believe there are other ways to earn aside from trading.
It's investment. Investment in Bitcoin, I want to emphasize Bitcoin investment, will help you get profit. Investment in altcoins will be more risky, uncertain and mainly will bring losses.

Investment with your money, don't borrow money and buy bitcoin, then think you are investing in Bitcoin. It is gambling when the money used is not yours.

Focus on DCA and in less time, you will start to profit in crypto without getting yourself involved in trading. Trading is a lot more risky that’s why some people are hesitant to start to trade, and so they just focus on investing and with their patience and their ability to manage their investments for long term, profits are definitely waiting ahead. So investing alone is already profitable, as long as you stick to its basic of buying low and selling high.
Trading is more risky and more pressure. It takes more time from you too and if you don't have enough time, trading is not for you.

So thinking about more risky, more pressure, more time must be spent for trading, I would give it up and consider alternatives. As said above, it's investment which will be helped with dollar cost averaging DCA.

524  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: July 22, 2023, 02:43:27 PM
The Arsenal team played well last season. And Mikel Arteta played an important role behind it. His match technique was outstanding. At the same time, Mikel Arteta was able to strengthen the bond between the players. This is why Arsenal's performance was stable. But at the end of the season, Arsenal team lost truck due to injuries of several players. This is why Arsenal failed to win the title. Mikel Arteta must try to stabilize the team. At the same time, the squad should also be strengthened by adding more experienced players to the team. Arsenal also need to tighten up the defense a bit.
They played very well, better than expected, better than two seasons ago. Two seasons ago, they lost a fourth position to Tottenham at a last match day. In the past season, they led the league at a first position in most match days of season and only lost it to Manchester City in very last match days. Evetually, they ended it in top four, better than two seasons ago, and even completed at a second position.

It's impressive coach performance from Arteta as he managed to surprise many clubs in Premier League and even did it with Pep Guardiola and Manchester City. He only failed in a second direct match with Manchester City when Pep made a big chance with John Stones.

Likewise with me, and at that time I hoped that Arsenal could win the Premier League last season but for some reason towards the end of the season Arsenal's performance decreased and was also inconsistent
They had a better consistent well performance than two seasons ago as if they did not have such performance, they would have not led the league too long.

Quote
but I admit it because Arsenal's rival at the top of the standings is Manchester City which does have a good squad and equal replacement players, and Arsenal doesn't have a squad depth like Manchester City. Likewise, my hope is that Arsenal can still compete at the top of the standings this season, and what is certain is that this season there will be many surprises from other clubs.
It is true but Arteta and Arsenal don't have big budget for transfer like Manchester City and they only started to play well in the last three seasons. Their squad are building up and it needs support from their club performance too. If they can maintain good performance in Premier League, ends it within top four, and in Champions League, they can go a bit far, their club income will be bigger. It will be foundations for their squad building process.
525  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto as Gambling: The UK government has laid to rest the controversial bill on: July 22, 2023, 11:28:02 AM
I was in the minority who believed that it was actually not such a bad idea, considering that no only is gambling legal in the UK, but there's also zero taxation on gambling winning. I'm sure paying zero taxes on crypto trading would be very attractive to many people. But I do agree it's somewhat odd and could cause issues. But it's not like treating Bitcoin as an asset it without its issues, as it might lead to each transaction having tax implications, whereas that's also unfair because people can and sometimes do use Bitcoin as a currency, as a form of payment.
So maybe it is a pre pressure step from UK. government to propose and pass a bill about taxation on gambling in future.

If other nations allow gambling and cryptocurrency gambling, UK. government will have problems with their citizens if they completely prohibit those activities. Their citizens have rights to ask for what they can do and their will make many meetings on road to create pressure on their government. I believe the UK. government only want to charge more tax from their citizens and they want to stop grey areas where their citizens can avoid taxation policy.
526  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: lost access to my bitcoin wallet... on: July 22, 2023, 11:23:49 AM
Haven't you ever heard/seen that electronics and water are not the best of friends? Such a situation is incomprehensible to me, because I never have any liquids near my computer or any other electronics.
It is security wise. We should stop doing things belong to our childhood or teenager hood.

Eating and drinking when we are working with a computer, a laptop are simply unwise and it's very risky for physical damages on digital devices. Even we turn off our computer or laptop, like you said we should not put any water, liquid around our devices.

Quote
I recommend that you seek professional help from people who are engaged in professional data recovery, and considering that you have very sensitive data, you can ask to be present during the procedure (some offer this option). Of course, as some have already mentioned, you should first calculate whether it is worth saving the data considering their value in relation to the cost of the procedure - although I would note that you should also take into account the possible value of those BTC in the future.
OP has no other choice if he can not recover data by himself but using third party data recovery is risky. They can say we fail to recover your data but in fact they got it successfully and stole that wallet file and got access to bitcoin. We can not know what they do after we pass our devices and drives to them for data recovery.

Hopefully OP will recover his wallet successfully and bitcoin in that wallet will be intact. However, this accident reminds OP the importance of wallet backups. If you have a Bitcoin wallet, back it up before you use it for receiving, storing and sending bitcoin.
527  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: IF ONLY EVERYONE CAN EASILY ACCEPT CRYPTO on: July 21, 2023, 11:50:47 PM
Don't go on peak hours and you really experience that heavy line since more people do their transaction at that time. But rather go on time when there are less people so that you can transact or even file a complain if there's issue regarding on your transaction. Also don't be sad or annoyed about those cases since that is isolated and sometimes that could also happen on crypto especially when network is congested and you set a low fee for your transaction for sure with that you receive your transaction for many days.
It is like you go to transport and sometimes you will be in traffic congestion, traffic jam which you will have to avoid next times. By  what?
You can avoid it by better plans, to understand when is most congested days, hours and have plan to move when less demands on chains. Or you can have plan B, to use different chains and coins for your transactions. If one chain has problems, you can choose your alternative chains in plan B.

From my experience, no chain in cryptocurrency will be congested or fee will be high forever. When demand on that chain is dropped, hype went away, chain operation will return to its normal.
528  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto as Gambling: The UK government has laid to rest the controversial bill on: July 21, 2023, 11:41:06 PM
Personally, I don't know why this should be an issue from the beginning as cryptocurrency is an asset which should be treated as such in both payments, trading and investment regulations.
They can do whatever they want but to pass the controversial bill, they need time and support. They can pass it but in UK, citizens have their rights and voice, they will fight for it.

I disagree with you that cryptocurrency is an asset as it has more use cases than that. It can be a commodity, can be used for trading, investment or gambling or more. The UK government try to bind cryptocurrency with gambling which is only one of many use cases for it, so they only try to do what they want.

It is not true if we say cryptocurrency can not be used for gambling and I can understand the strict bill from the UK. They will prohibit casino advertisements in Premier League next two years. The new season is a last one we will see casino advertisement, logo at banners, skirts etc.

Premier League clubs set ban on gambling companies advertising shirts
529  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Days you need to work your ass at minimum wage for a BTC, by country on: July 21, 2023, 04:36:06 PM
There is nothing wrong with this, it just shows that some countries are better to live in and make a living for yourself, you will be able to survive and invest if you are in Australia than Venezuela,  I like this whole concept and I thank OP for creating it, very interesting to me, even with 0.1 BTC, that will be hell for people in Venezuela to get still, compare to someone living and working in the U.K, this just show that if your country sucks very bad it can affect your future too, no wonder my country people are running out to Australia and the United Kingdom, I would have done the same but my payment are always in dollars, so I am doing better than those that are getting paid in Fiat currency in my country.
You must consider that in nations where average salary is high, they will have to spend higher expenses so they will not save too much money after spending. If in a low income countries, we receive such high salary, we will have big savings and can use it for Bitcoin investment.

However in high income country, what you can save from that same salary will be lower. It can affect capital for investment but seriously, people in high income countries have better chances to have 1 bitcoin as investment from their money.
530  Other / Meta / Re: Is it okay to create an off-topic discussion thread? on: July 20, 2023, 03:04:32 PM
One of the restrictions on this forum is off-topic discussion. So what if I create a discussion thread where the rules in the discussion thread allow off-topic discussion. Is that okay?
Off topic posts and off topic board are different.

Off topic posts mean you write posts which don't discuss on issue of that topic, it's off topic and should be deleted. Off topic posts can be deleted by moderators through reports from forum users or by a topic author in self moderated threads.
2. No off-topic posts.

Topics which belongs to Off-topic boards can be moved to that board through user reports too.
Off-topic board:
Off-topic - "Other topics that might be of interest to bitcoiners"
531  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: July 20, 2023, 02:59:29 PM
If the player you are referring to is Ilkay Gundogan, then you have made a big mistake. Ilkay Gundogan has become an official Barcelona player, it was announced some time ago since Barcelona managed to sign him for free.
Gundogan is very good for tiki taka after about six years with Pep Guardiola at Manchester City. Even Pep upgraded initial tiki taka from Barcelona to Bayern Munich then Manchester City, the core idea of tiki taka was digested by Gundogan. He will not have difficulty in Barcelona especially we saw Xavi did not change the initial tiki taka too much in one season and a half with Barcelona.

Quote
I agree that Ilkay Gundogan has contributed greatly to Manchester City's title success over the last few seasons, but unfortunately Manchester City did not manage to extend his contract so Barcelona stepped forward as the next port of Ilkay's career.
They did not want to sign a too long contract with an old player like Gundogan but it is what the player wanted. Without agreement, they had to separated and Gundogan also want to challenge himself at a new league, La Liga.
532  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: do anyone have done this? with gambling platforms on: July 20, 2023, 02:40:48 PM
anyone deposited very less amount and luckily won a big jackpot like a 100x or 500x or 1000x of base bet and withdrawn without kyc or without facing any problem from the platform?

if yes, how much was that amount?
Very likely they will pull the KYC requirement and verify your identity before they allow you to withdraw money from big win especially if that big win means big value too. If you win big like x100 or x1000 from your small capital like $1 or $2, they might allow you to withdraw without issue if it is a first time.

However if you repeatedly win big like a few more times and request multiple withdrawals, I am sure they will pay more attention on your account and check many things. At the end, advanced KYC will be unavoidable.

and what was the exchange?
Not exchange, you are talking about gambling sites.
533  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: 10 tips to manage one's emotions while trading crypto. on: July 19, 2023, 01:27:07 PM
When emotions control us, it will make us get out of the plans we have made carefully. Like when we want to decide to take profits when the profit target reaches 5% but because emotions control us like we become greedy when trading, we instead increase our take profit target to 10% profit. and sometimes that's a good thing. but sometimes to also make us fail to get profit.
If you clearly know that what price is your profit taking price and you know that you are not good to control yourself, set an order to wait for selling at that price. When market moves to that price, your position will be filled and you take profit without emotion.

Now, if you want to gamble with luck, you can reserve like 10% of your coin to let the market and profit runs, then you can take profit at higher price if you are luckily enough. If price falls back, you can sell it at lower price but should not be below your entry price. Whatever happens after your take profit with 90% of your capital, you already get profit in hands and the rest 10% ends with a draw is not bad.

Don't let the rest 10% ends with a loss too. You can use a Stop loss order to sell it at your entry price or a little higher than your entry price.
534  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Don't expect everyone to embrace Bitcoin on: July 19, 2023, 01:21:53 PM
I am one of the people you mentioned, I believe that without government, nothing would exist. Like in a herd, there must always be a leader, without a leader, everyone is equal, and the world will be ruined. Just because you want freedom, you eliminate the role of government, that's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. Don't forget, you have a peaceful life, no war, no robbers, you have all the comforts in life...all with great contributions from the government.
I don't like how governments control central banks, create inflation of fiat currencies and put their citizens in worse life by negative effects from inflation or in some countries, hyper inflations. I don't like how they corrupted and became richer while their citizens became poorer by inflation as well as how they failed to keep their promises from their propaganda to be elected by citizens.

However, I see we still need governments to keep societies in orders. I don't want to live in a country, a society with an anarchic status because my life will be in danger. In such an anarchic society, my prosperity will become a big risk to end my life.

Quote
I need government, but I am still investing and very bullish on bitcoin. And for me, Bitcoin is just an asset, and it's just a tool to make money, it can't take on any government role.
Bitcoin will become more interesting for investors when they see bad inflation from fiat currencies and realize that Bitcoin has become more strongly surviving after many years, many bear markets and many tests from governments to kill Bitcoin and its network. They will see it as a safe heaven to avoid inflation from central banks.
535  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Storing Private Keys with Colors, how safe is this? on: July 19, 2023, 01:09:16 PM
Hm, why just limit yourself with colors-pallet.

We can advance further and convert SEED phrase into music.

I have just used Music Sheet Cipher and converted the following SEED (search where universe puzzle search doctor dumb holiday patch wheel begin detect) - don't use it! - into music notations.

Quote
You must have good musical knowledge to understand it. Does the musical sheet contains all seed words and does not include non-seed words?

Because if you hide your seed words, mix them with non-seed words, you will have problems to find whatrl words are from your seed.

It is better if the sheet only contains seed words but what will happen if with this large piece of paper, you will have more risk to see it gets wet, damages by physical threats. I could be wrong but a smaller piece of paper is better for me to store my seed. It is more easily to backup, storage safely and recover in future.
536  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: US Presidential candidate announces plan to back the US dollar with Bitcoin on: July 19, 2023, 11:47:41 AM
If I remember correctly, some US states already plan to hold some Bitcoin to store their wealth. I do recall seeing some news talking about more or less the same thing
North Carolina Reps Suggest Adding Bitcoin, Gold to State Treasury.

Not sure there are more states in the USA. have congressmen/women want to make such suggestion or plans to do that.

Quote
so while it is mostly a marketing ploy, the fact that some government bodies or politicians utter such words means that crypto is a good market for them. Hopefully, this doesn't turn into another situation where they claim one project is a security one after another when the regulation is unclear though.
From the hearing on oversights of SEC. on cryptocurrency, which was held in April 2023, facts are many members in the USA. Congress are supporters for blockchain industry, companies and cryptocurrency. They don't want to see a wave of such companies moving out of their  nation because of SEC. regulations which are not based on existing laws.
537  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: 10 tips to manage one's emotions while trading crypto. on: July 17, 2023, 02:25:03 AM
4. Don’t keep track of profit and loss. Doing the math on your earnings will only get your emotions working. Concentrate on your trading strategy, and review your trading journal to develop it. Then, at the end of the trading day, you can check out how well or poorly you did.
You have to keep track of everything you do in trading or investment.

Without records, you will not have data to assess your investment or trading strategies which can not always help you to gain profit. If you feel you are not good at emotion control, don't trade. You should stop trading and change to become an investor.

By investing, you will spend less time to watch charts, read news and you will have less emotional reactions against market news. Always keep tracking your entry, exit prices, results from your investment positions as well as notes about causes of profits and losses if you can.

539  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Argentina Launches it's First Bitcoin Futures Contract, Brazil To Follow.. on: July 13, 2023, 11:10:36 PM
Bitcoin does not support Argentina to have their first Bitcoin Futures but it relies on Arghentina support to approve and launch a first Bitcoin Futures.

In nations with bad financial regulations like Argentina, I feel unknown about their capability to manage that exchange and the Bitcoin Futures well and safely for Argentinian citizens and cryptocurrency users. Let's hope they will not let any corruption and bad operations from the exchange.

We don't need to see things like Terra, FTX from Argentina. Market will be dumped or has fud if an exchange has problem with its operation.
540  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Italian League Prediction Thread (Serie A) on: July 13, 2023, 03:56:36 PM
Until now several official players have been brought in by Milan, such as Luftus Cheek and another Chelsea star Cristian Pulisic, but both of them are actually not positioned as pure attackers or center forwards. I think Milan as a whole will improve next season, the seriousness has been shown by their president Paolo Scaroni who said he would build a Milan squad ready to compete on the Champions League stage next season.
They want to protect their position within top four of Serie A and if possible, going far in Champions League. They know repeating their success in Champions League to semi final matches is not easy.

Their main focus will be Serie A because they know Roma, Juventus will become stronger. Juventus will not play in either Champions League or Europa League and they will seriously focus on Serie A. Roma will be improved more in their third season with Mourinho. They need to get good results to convince Mourinho signing a new contract after the current contract will expire next summer.

Aware of such threats, AC Milan are trying to get as many new good players as possible.
