Hmm.. rumours like this make me bearish on Bitcoin for some reason.
I guess it smacks of desperation and fanboi pumpism - and I think that how bitcoin is perceived is one of the primary factors in adoption rate at the moment.
I got no bites on a facebook offer to give away 0.1BTC to friends who posted an address.. I only posted yesterday.. but still - if ya can't give em away.. what mogul is going to rush in with a 5Mil purchase?
(maybe only $1 worth is a bit small to be giving away.. but it was partly to see if people were even curious about bitcoin. Not even a 'like' so far.. but hey I only have a little over 100 friends - so perhaps not surprising.)

Find me a *secular* Gaza based charity which accepts BTC ... and I'll donate.
I'll be waiting a while I guess.
I'm guessing most are Islamist, and on various 'terrorism' lists.
Not that some politician's/civil service's 'terrorism' list should really be a disincentive to BTC-wielding free thinkers - but I'll save my 'historyless' bitcoins for things that are more clearly not going to add to turmoil.

Bitcoin is a startup?  Well it did say 'and many startups' not 'and many other startups' - so while it's sort of implied, strictly speaking they didn't call bitcoin, strype etc startups. |
