521  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: HoboNickels - HBN - High Fast Stake - Version 1.5. Come on in the water's fine! on: February 04, 2015, 12:30:06 AM
Money supply according to the debug console of the client is 8,816,651 HBN, but Coinmarketcap only reads 8,208,723 HBN. That makes our marketcap seem a little smaller than it actually is. Novacoin for example hasn't been updated either, whereas the number for Peercoins is always up to date.

Does anybody know if this is a known issue with Coinmarketcap?
It benefits IPO-Scams over coins with honest mining.

The issue is coinmarketcap is getting it's money supply from an old ABE explorer that is out of commission. They need to change to CCE API. Could I trouble you to ask them to switch?

@Tranz

I finally got everything working on my dice website, for hobonickels.. and now for somereason, my Mac at home started crashing this morning for no apparent reason. it loads, then says "loading block index..." then crashes.. an suggestions?? It worked great for a week or so..

Cool deal about the dice game. What is the website again, I will add it to the opening pages.

Regarding the mac client. Not sure off hand. I do know there have been a few issues with it.

I just finally got my first Mac. It is a 2010 air book. Nice little machine.  I am using it currently to run and figure out the issues with the HBN client. So far I was up to block 1.5 million, syncing from peers, and I ran into some problems. Specially a similar issue to yours, which I was able to get around it by re-opening the client a few times.

It manifests itself as the crash, but looking at the crash report, you would see this in the log:
Code:
Application Specific Information:
Assertion failed: (pindex->pprev || pindex->GetBlockHash() == (!fTestNet ? hashGenesisBlock : hashGenesisBlockTestNet)), function GetStakeModifierChecksum, file src/kernel.cpp, line 377.
This generally means it is a corrupt block index. But some people have gotten around it by using -connect switch, or in my case just attempting to re-open it a few times.

After I got past that error. I ran into another syncing issue, (I was almost done), so I closed and re-opened, then I got an error reading the block index, but not the assertion failure. In any event it was hosed. So I am now trying bootstrap the blockchain, and see if I can get to current that way..

Short of it, I am just now learning about the Mac side of this so I don't have a ton of helpful information yet. But your case "appears" to be a corrupt block index.

UPDATE:

Total chaos  Embarrassed
QT4 would not install due to dependencies. Trying to fix those completely messed up my system so now I'm doing a clean install. (known bug apparently from all my searches)

Going to take a nap since I've been up all night trying to fix this mess and then try again Smiley

PS. I did not even get to compile the wallet. All of this is probably due to my insignificant knowledge of Linux...

Sorry to hear that, but if you makes you feel any better you are not alone. It took me 3 tries before I got it all correct for Windows to compile.  Never had to re-install OS, but still was days before it was all setup.

I am sure I remember that there was a post in this thread with instructions for compiling a Raspberry Pi version of Bottlecaps.  Finally got the Pi but now with search disabled cannot find the post with instructions...

Is it any thing different than the instruction just posted for compiling a wallet on Ubuntu?  If so, if anyone has the Raspberry Pi instructions bookmarked and can post a link that would be like totally tubular and rad.   Cool

I have only compiled the daemon for the Pi. I put out my instructions for HBN when i did it here https://cryptocointalk.com/topic/8233-pihobonickels/

Anyone great at programming for android? A phone wallet to stake would be fantastic. Would this ruin the phone?

It would be cool to have one to be able to receive and hold coins. However I think there is still some work to be done for the code base. In any event staking would consume a fair amount of resources. It may not break the phone, but it would drain the battery quickly and probably cause a good deal of heat while it is running.

Easiest to compile you own.  This guide should work pretty well.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=212621.msg2233135#msg2233135

Some of the dependencies are newer then on the guide, ie boost is in the 1.5s now, but it should work. Just try to get a more recent version.

Let us know how it works out.

Thanks Tranz. Will give it a try tonight.
Just for interest sake, can one use the same blockchain files that I already have on windows or will I have to let the linux wallet sync from scratch. (i.e. same file formats or different?)

I am not sure if they are compatible or not.  You can at least use the blk001.dat renamed to bootstrap.dat and put it in place in the appdata directory before you start the client.

FYI.
My virus scanner just flagged my windows bottlecaps-qt.exe version 2.2.0 as an IRC bot.  I can assure you this is not the case, but the code does contain the ability to communicate on IRC. It is currently not active, as we use DNS seeds for network exploration, not IRC anymore.

In any event I just wanted get be out in front of it, in case anyone else saw this, and had a problem getting it to run. I simply allowed it as an exception and moved on.

Wow - 886k and 12 BTC in Volume today...News?

Nothing I know of. My guess was a big wallet dumped a bunch of coins, and then bots came into the trading to play around for a bit.

Wouldn't it be great if we could have trade volume like that all the time.  It was interesting to see that dumps were met with buys with the result a pretty much steady price through the whole thing.

Yes it would be, high liquidity is important to growth.  Plus a good trader could make a nice dime trading that much volume with 20% swings.

Does anyone have a noob friendly link to install the QT wallet on Ubuntu 12.04?

My little linux box has a decent UPS and I'd like to move my staking wallet to it.

Thanks in advance... Smiley

Im looking to buy 32,132 HBN @ 3101 sat . I placed my buy order on Crypsy. So if you have a large quantity and want out. Its a little less than market, but heres your chance to unload a massive quantity if you want. Tranz Im sure you have extra you can spare to a loyal HBN lover? I would be willing to do an OTC with you, if interested. Its 1 BTC is my buy order, and im sure you know the price of btc went crazy today.

Vegas

Vegasguy, you are a few weeks/days late. I have been filling the ask side for a bit with coins I had in cold storage. I only have 20k of them left, and 10k are on Cryptys at 3500 sats.  I am going to put up another 10k at the same price(or higher) once the current ask fills, and the coin age is staked. After that I am down to my initial investment, which I just can't part with.   Grin

Guys I would like to know specific details about the hard fork, I went back about 5 pages and didnt see any information. I went to the OP and its not there either. Here are my specific questions?

Has the min stake age changed? If so what is it now?
Has max pos reward changed? If so what is it, and what is max block size to use to avoid hitting max block reward?
What other important changes do I need to know?
There is talk of buying HBN with fiat.. Tranz have you made a decision on this?
Also Tranz, can you please post specific details about the hard fork on the OP for everyone?

Thanks
Vegas

Min stake age is still 10 days, but max age is now 30 days.

Further info : https://cryptocointalk.com/topic/21832-hbn-version-15-update-by-jan-17-2015/

Max reward from a single block of coins is 250. Hitting the max reward is largely probabilistic, but given that coins don't age after 30 days, that would equate to ~8% stake, or a max desirable block size of ~3000.

Thanks Majormax. Yes that page will have the detail for the hard fork. Additionally it can be found in the change control on github.
https://github.com/Tranz5/HoboNickels/commit/d677d58eb5f1fb7d0f07df7b10ede8bb832a8890

Regarding HBN to fiat. This is not my decision or in any way in my control. I personally would love to see it, and will do what I can to help make it happen.

The 2nd post(after the op) already contains the links for the 1.5 information.

I have added version 2.2.1 to the 2.2.0 release page.

https://github.com/Tranz5/bottlecaps/releases/tag/2.2.0.0

This adds the updates for Auto Savings. If you have this enabled in version 2.2.0, please be sure to disable ATS first before starting this new version up.

This also adds the splitthreshold and combinethreshold rpc and start up switches. The start up switches max at 200/400. And the rpc command allows up to the wallet balance divided by 500. So 110,000 wallet can have a max split of 220, and combine of 440. Set via the rpc command.

You can view the current settings by using the menu Network->Current PoS Block Info, or clicking the Pos staking icon.

anyone have an updated addnode list?

Whenever I need nodes, this is where I look:
http://hbn.cryptocoinexplorer.com/peerinfo.

And the Jan. 17 fork must have been the smoothest crypto fork ever! Great work Tranz.

I added a bunch of peers, but why, when I initially open the client, am I only connect to 4 peers. I've had the client open for about 5 mins and it's still only 4 peers. If the peers I added are currently active/alive (which they should be since I just grabbed them from the list of peers on the site) why won't my client connect to them right away?

If you are behind blocks, the client will first worry about grabbing the missing blocks before connecting to many peers. Also the client uses the peers.dat file to look for new connections. It does it randomly, not necessarily using your addnodes right away.  Usually after you are caught up with blocks, you will get a strong 16 connections in 30 to 60 mins.

Also remember the client by default onl allows for 16 connections. So the nodes you added may be full and not accepting any connections right away.

Hi Tranz,

I have favor to ask, could you build a windows release of the latest commits? I would like to use the added auto save return address and I am also curious to play a bit with the new splitting options. I tried to build it myself but only too soon I was lost in error messages I didn't understand realizing that building with Qt is way above my competence level. (which I already knew but I thought to give it a try anyway)
Only if it's not too much of a hassle of course!

I certainly will.  I had hoped to get more into the release. But I have been a bit slow recently. I will get a new QT out here, most likely tomorrow.

So currently on my to do MultiSend to do list:
- Make compatible with former S4C dialog
- Add a sexy table to dialog that lets users edit the vector on the fly
- add custom change address (right now it will return change to the address that staked)
- add enabled/disabled flag to database read/write ( I just tested using an old wallet with 'ats' written to it on the new version, and no errors)
- clean wallet.h

Edit - Tranz let me know if you want to divide and conquer on any of these  Grin

I am way behind on commits for both HBN and CAPS. But if I can get caught up here soon, and get a chance to play with what you have here, sure I would love to help push this forward more.

Fixed, thanks.

You are welcome.

So the Hard Fork has come and gone, so far everything seems be operating correctly.  Anyone experiencing anything odd?

Unick, who has helped with the coin in the past, is having some issues with the Mac wallet.
https://cryptocointalk.com/topic/27625-cant-sync-mac-wallet-for-3-weeks-now/

Can anyone else confirm they are having similar issues, or is their mac wallet working and staking as normal?

Thanks!

It actually does send them all as one transaction with multiple outputs.  Here is an example of a test MultiSend transaction I had yesterday http://hyp.cryptocoinexplorer.com/transaction?transaction=199a112071237f3cbbb0063397f296fee0f7a9c6163f4824e98511f6b3b8a7c3

Ahh excellent.

New HyperStake Wallet Beta Release

MultiSend RPC
Code:
****************************************************************
WHAT IS MULTISEND?
MultiSend is a rebuild of what used to be called Stake For Charity (s4c)
MultiSend allows a user to automatically send a percent of their stake reward to as many addresses as you would like
The MultiSend transaction is sent when the staked coins mature (30 confirmations)
The only current restriction is that you cannot choose to send more than 100% of your stake using MultiSend
****************************************************************
MULTISEND COMMANDS (usage: multisend <command>)
print - displays the current MultiSend vector
clear - deletes the current MultiSend vector
enable - activates the current MultiSend vector
disable - disables the current MultiSend vector
delete <Address #> - deletes an address from the MultiSend vector
****************************************************************
TO CREATE OR ADD TO THE MULTISEND VECTOR:
multisend <HyperStake Address> <percent>
This will add a new address to the MultiSend vector
Percent is a whole number 1 to 100.
****************************************************************

This is a beta release, so help me get out any bugs!! Right now MultiSend vector is saved to database so it will persist through power off. You will however need to enable it each time you start your wallet up - <multisend enable>

I will probably switch the code to leave it enabled through shutdown for the real release of the wallet.

Excellent work PressTab.  I look forward to playing this, and putting it through the wringers. I'll let you know if I find any bugs or suggestions.

Thanks Tranz Smiley

First bug found... I did not properly include the lastSentHeight variable so that it won't send twice for a stake that splits... updating it now.

Just based on reading the code here are my quick thoughts.

You should let the users know they should disable their current S4C before starting up your version. As you do not load the "ats" type anymore and you may get a wallet warning on start up. Although you still saved the s4c types in wallet.h?

The other thing I see a possible improvement would be instead of looping through each address and sending them 1 at a time. You could create an array of addresses and use a sendmany type transaction. This would save a bit on fee for the user, and speed up the send transaction, especially if you are doing A LOT of them. Although it is a small improvement for a fair bit of work, so may not be worth it right now.

Other then that, looks great!
