My little linux box has a decent UPS and I'd like to move my staking wallet to it.

Some of the dependencies are newer then on the guide, ie boost is in the 1.5s now, but it should work. Just try to get a more recent version.

Nothing I know of. My guess was a big wallet dumped a bunch of coins, and then bots came into the trading to play around for a bit.

Yes it would be, high liquidity is important to growth.  Plus a good trader could make a nice dime trading that much volume with 20% swings.

FYI.
My virus scanner just flagged my windows bottlecaps-qt.exe version 2.2.0 as an IRC bot.  I can assure you this is not the case, but the code does contain the ability to communicate on IRC. It is currently not active, as we use DNS seeds for network exploration, not IRC anymore.

In any event I just wanted get be out in front of it, in case anyone else saw this, and had a problem getting it to run. I simply allowed it as an exception and moved on.

Not sure if anyone else had issues with the wallet connecting to the network, but I did and decided to share my .conf settings. It took a while searching but I found a lot of nodes that connect and it gave me a good 12 connections over the 0 I had starting out.

Simply add a new text file in your Bottlecaps wallet folder (for me it was c:/Users/MYNAMEHERE/appdata/roaming/Bottlecaps/ since I use Windows 8.1). Then rename that to bottlecaps.conf and say yes if it says it might become unstable. Next, copy and paste what I placed in quotes and save the conf file. Once you get this done I'd suggest exiting the wallet and then reopening it. Worked fine for me, hope it works for you guys also.

I am not sure if they are compatible or not.  You can at least use the blk001.dat renamed to bootstrap.dat and put it in place in the appdata directory before you start the client.

I am sure I remember that there was a post in this thread with instructions for compiling a Raspberry Pi version of Bottlecaps.  Finally got the Pi but now with search disabled cannot find the post with instructions...

Is it any thing different than the instruction just posted for compiling a wallet on Ubuntu?  If so, if anyone has the Raspberry Pi instructions bookmarked and can post a link that would be like totally tubular and rad.

QT4 would not install due to dependencies. Trying to fix those completely messed up my system so now I'm doing a clean install. (known bug apparently from all my searches)

Going to take a nap since I've been up all night trying to fix this mess and then try again

PS. I did not even get to compile the wallet. All of this is probably due to my insignificant knowledge of Linux...

Sorry to hear that, but if you makes you feel any better you are not alone. It took me 3 tries before I got it all correct for Windows to compile.  Never had to re-install OS, but still was days before it was all setup.

yes they should be, i've done this on other coins, and it works.  Have not tried on caps though, i start client with -rescan afterwards too.

With a fresh install of Ubuntu 14.04 and following the guide provided everything went very smooth.
I believe all my playing and changing stuff on the old 12.04 installation corrupted packages which was the cause of all my drama.

Linux wallet is now synced and should start staking within the week.

Yes you can still solo, assuming you have the hash.

The addnodes are a bit out of date, but you can grab as many as you need here: http://cap.cryptocoinexplorer.com/peerinfo (the port should be omitted). Otherwise it is a standard solo mining config.
