541  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Redesigned Devcoin.org Launched! on: December 20, 2013, 03:55:51 PM
Hi all, I am happy to report that I have finished the devcoin.org site redesign:

http://devcoin.org/

Thanks to Weisoq for his wiki page and whoever created the Devcoin press release that went out a couple of weeks ago - really saved me a lot of time compiling the content.

Let me know what you guys think - I will be sticking around as the new Devcoin web guy so I can certainly make edits and additions going forward.

Lots of great developments going on here!

I'm just finishing up the new Devcoin web site - it will be ready to launch today! I am really excited as I think it looks amazing and I've gotten great feedback so far. Can't wait to show everyone!
543  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [DVC]DevCoin - Official Thread - Moderated on: December 14, 2013, 09:39:45 PM
Hi everyone, I'm a big believer (and a large investor) in Devcoin and I would like to do what I can to help it succeed. I've seen a lot of complaints about the web site - I've been a professional web designer and technical writer for over 13 years now and I would be more than happy to work on the site free of charge.

Just wanted to check in with the community first in case someone is already working on it. If not, I would start by quickly taking the content that's there now and placing it into a much more visually appealing template. I'm a big fan of jQuery and Bootstrap so it wouldn't even take me a day to just start by taking what we have and making it look way better! After that I'd be happy to edit the copy and continue to build on the site in the future.

Just let me know if you are interested  Smiley

544  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [QRK] Quark | Super secure hashing | CPU mining on: December 13, 2013, 01:25:17 PM
I encourage anyone that feels they need to dump out after the BTC38 listing to do so - all these things tend to even out - Quark has a core of investors , we welcome speculation but that's not what makes Quark great .

Excellent point Digitalindustry! Anyone who wants to sell at any point - go right ahead. I have every confidence that there will be someone there more than happy to buy them - and then some! Plenty of BTC has exchanged owners during its rise - Quark will be the same. In the future, there will be people regretting selling at 10 cents, others at $1, who knows. IMHO, the majority of good alt coins will be going up (a lot) in the months and years ahead.

Personally, I'm betting big on Quark, eMunie, Peercoin and Devcoin.
+1... Peercoin & Devcoin may make a rise... but nothing like Quark & Worldcoin... marketing... your forgetting marketing... devcoin is useless there... so is peercoin

Yes, Worldcoin is another good one. I regret missing out on that one - the whole fiasco with UNOCS and Phoenixcoin is what soured me on that one. Funny how it was Worldcoin that rose from the ashes  Smiley

For the love of all that is good, we desperately need a new exchange. Cryptsy is a steaming pile of shit that should be put out of its misery. I was just looking to buy some more QRK and I see sell orders at 0.00019000 and buy orders at 0.00023220 - what a joke.

I can't even imagine where the price will be if an exchange the caliber of BTC-e or Bitstamp enabled people to trade QRK.
547  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [QRK] Quark | Super secure hashing | CPU mining on: December 05, 2013, 07:12:49 PM
You have to realise one thing here.

Why would anyone complain about the QRK success?

It is simple, they didn't mine it when they could, they didn't buy it when they could ( for nothing). Now they are crying that it has taken off lol

The exact thing happened with btc and ltc. The same thing will happen with the next coin that meets dramatic success from nowhere. It's simple people lose out , they cry about it.

The distribution of qrk is actually better than BTC and many other coins. BTC is said to be 70% in the hands of 100 people.

Many coins are almost totally mined in a few months. Look at CGB this is a great coin and has already been mined.

Quarks distribution was not achieved through mining, it was achieved through the free market. It was on sale for MONTHS for nothing. For a few ltc you could have bought a ton of it.

The price was low because the miners dumped it on day one on the exchange, then they dumped the rest out for any BTC they could get.  Anyone who bought it is now laughing.

MINING is nothing. It is a way to distribute the coins but the market does this to a much larger scale.

I am happy to see ALL crypto that is individual and has made some new contribution to crypto currency become successful. All the coins listed are going to go up over time. Which will explode next nobody knows.

+1 cryptohunter! I find your posts some of the most rational around here. If you look up the beginnings of LTC, XRP it was the same thing - hate and vitriol everywhere from people who missed the boat and/or the "BTC is the only cryptocurrency" crowd. Some are angry because they missed out, others are trying to protect their investments in other coins.

And despite the fact that, as you said, BTC is said to be 70% in the hands of 100 people, some people will continue to insist that BTC is the only way to go and QRK is just a premined scam. Despite the fact that Bitcoin is currently $1,000 and Quark is 12 cents, again, some how Quark is supposed to be a pump and dump scam.

Oh well, haters are going to hate, successful people are going to continue to be successful by ignoring lies and FUD spread by internet trolls  Smiley
548  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What coins to invest in. on: November 28, 2013, 01:15:32 PM
I suggest looking for something truly different, I've been looking into Emunie and a few others with unique models, I'm really interested in currency that is a little more stable in price and one that is encouraged to spend.  Everything is going crazy, so I'd suggest waiting a few months for things to cool down before putting in some real money.

+1! eMunie is going to blow everyone away with what it is bringing to the table - truly anonymous, no mining (earn interest without doing anything), built in exchange, built in chat, built in messaging system, built in private, encrypted hosting where you can put up a page and sell ANYTHING! Just think of the implications of that alone - just like Silk Road, minus TOR, minus the centralization that can take it down. Anyone can publish their eMunie name and customers can make a direct, encrypted, private connection to the seller! It's going to be huge IMHO!

PPC and QRK are also good choices as PPC is a POS system that is more energy-efficient than Bitcoin. Some even believe PPC could become the new BTC one day!

QRK is also good because it can be mined on CPUs, thus no specialized equipment such as ASIC miners (which keeps the coin in the average person's control, not a handful of big players with a lot of money in mining gear).

Huge news! More big moves ahead for PPC!

552  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [QRK] Quark | Super secure hashing | CPU mining on: November 27, 2013, 12:21:32 PM
I just want to say a GIGANTIC thank you to Max, DigitalIndustry and the entire QRK team. I've always believed in QRK and bought a whole bunch when the price was a mere fraction of a penny. I was traveling earlier this week, and when I logged in last night for the first time in days and saw the QRK price, well, I haven't slept since.

Quark is a top-tier coin with a top-tier community and I think this train has only just begun to leave the station.....

Keep up the great work guys!!
553  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Peercoin blasts past 50 million dollar market cap! on: November 27, 2013, 12:16:47 PM
Congrats to all fellow PPC lovers and holders! Happy days are ahead - this coin is just getting started!!
554  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Petition BTC-E to add QRK to their currency list! on: November 27, 2013, 12:14:25 PM
I've always loved QRK and I'm sure glad I bought a bunch when I did!

It will always be popular because you only need a CPU to mine it so everyone can get involved. Heck, even buying it today at 2 cents a coin provides an excellent risk/reward ratio as it has a very good chance of rising to 10 cents and beyond! What seems more likely to happen sooner - QRK rising 5x to 10 cents a coin, or BTC rising 5x to $4,500 a coin??

GO QRK GO !!!
555  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do you hold any Peercoin on: November 17, 2013, 03:15:05 AM
basically you have to hold PeerCoin, lite coin, btc, XRP and soon Emunie

to diversify your risk.

I think that Peercoin will overtake litecoin, and even maybe btc, as peercoin strikes at store of wealth.

+1 jubalix, that's a nice diversified portfolio. I'm concentrating on Peercoin and eMunie myself (I got in and out of XRP before and made 400% but I'm sticking to these 2 for the long haul).
556  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [PPC] Ideas to take it to the next level! on: November 17, 2013, 03:12:56 AM
Good points guys! I think PPC running on a Pi would be a great marketing idea -  you can participate in POS and receive interest with very little energy expenditure. This is also why I will be investing in eMunie too - any sort of POS system is an advantage in my opinion as everyone can be a part of the network and earn from it without mining! The energy saving aspects should definitely be used in the marketing campaign.

I noticed PPC is on one Chinese exchange right now (btc38). I wish BTCChina would add alts as they have huge volume. Yes, other countries such as India would be great to break into but it seems to me that China is responsible for a lot of the money flowing into crypotcurrencies now....

I just discovered that Megacoin is already on one Chinese exchange btc38.com - that's awesome! Now we just need btcchina  Wink

Excellent! The more exposure the better! Do you have any plans for a Chinese advertising strategy? I would love to see Megacoin get added to a Chinese exchange like BTCChina - that would send Megacoin to the moon!
559  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [PPC] Ideas to take it to the next level! on: November 17, 2013, 12:55:21 AM
Come on PPC supporters! Where are you? I know there are a lot of you out there - I can tell by the price of PPC  Smiley

What do you think we can do to help spread the adoption of PPC? Anyone know if any of the Chinese exchanges have been approached yet?
560  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / [PPC] Ideas to take it to the next level! on: November 16, 2013, 03:49:39 PM
Hi everyone, I am heavily invested in PPC as I have no doubt it's value is going to increase dramatically. I'm starting this thread so everyone can share their ideas on how to take PPC to the next level. I have two thoughts myself and I'd love to hear feedback as well as some other ideas.

1) China

IMHO, China should be a priority right now. We've got BTC-e for PPC trading which is great - all we need now is at least one Chinese exchange with large volumes to add PPC and then we're off to the races. I know we have Cryptsy and a couple of other exchanges as well but the volumes are miniscule.  Also, to be frank, the US is no place to be running anything that has anything to do with money.

Chinese exchanges are going crazy right now with people piling into BTC… what do you think would happen if PPC was available alongside BTC on one of the major Chinese exchanges, at a mere fraction of the price?

2) Community / Consensus

Many people are outraged at the Bitcoin Foundation as they are acting like a bunch of elitist regulators who are moving farther and farther away from the original vision of Satoshi. There's been talk about blacklisting coins, we've got the friggin Winklevoss twins trying to act like the Hunt Brothers, people begging US authorities to regulate BTC and now apparently there's some Mellon guy (who comes from a wealthy 1% elitist family) getting in on the act. Do you think when Satoshi created Bitcoin he hoped and prayed that one day it would be accepted by US-based bureaucrats? I think not.

Peercoin has a great chance to live up to it's name - PEERcoin. The peers, or users of the system should have input into the direction of the coin - not a handful of large holders or a "foundation" and certainly not any government.

We could set up some sort of voting system where all users of Peercoin could vote on any major changes - this way it will truly be the PEER coin!

Anyway, just my 2 Satoshis on ideas to take PPC to the next level. I'd love to hear some more!
