541  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbie chart analysis over past 1 Year (bitcoins) on: December 13, 2018, 03:08:33 PM
What about the newbies? We need to learn too!

Newbies are not restricted in Bitcoin Discussion section. You can read threads, post replies and do every thing in that section as well. So if your thread gets any replies from there, it is you or any other Newbie who reads them who are learning from them.
542  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbie chart analysis over past 1 Year (bitcoins) on: December 13, 2018, 02:57:09 PM
For now, I think this thread belongs to Bitcoin Discussion section since it is discussing about Bitcoin in general and has nothing to do with help or anything like that.
You would most likely get your desired replies along with a little or a lot of spam in that section. You will get your desired replies because people willing to discuss things about Bitcoin mostly visit that section, and spam because people looking for threads to churn out their useless thoughts also camp in that particular section a lot.

If I get 50 answers I will publish the project info in the forum and make it more official,

Why not now? or before starting this survey? If there is actually a project to be launched, and if it is legit, then there should be no hiding it from anyone until any period of time or a threshold of answers gotten from this survey.
544  Other / Meta / Re: Is this forum boring? on: December 05, 2018, 11:04:24 AM
The forum has what it needs to. All you got to do is to reach them by making yourself worthy of them. Besides, you can't go to a yoga class expecting to hear rock music and see people moving their butts like crazy. This forum serves what it's intended to, and even more.
545  Other / Meta / Re: Why are FUD-trolls allowed to open 4 topics per day? on: December 04, 2018, 01:20:21 PM
Looking at freightjoe's recent post history would make you think that he hates Bitcoin to the highest level and is completely against it, while if you have a look at the deeper history of his posts, around November of last year, you would find him announcing a project named "Bitcoin Ruthenium", which he claimed to be a fork of the Bitcoin Blockchain. Now, if a person really hates something that he can't even stand it and keeps talking negative about it, why would he work on a project that is solely based on that exact thing that he doesn't even like?

He is either purposely doing all this in order to spread fear among the noobs and get a drop on the price in order to buy lower, or he has invested some money back in time and is hurt by the current drop which is why he is not being able to control his emotions. In either way, he doesn't deserve a lot of attention.

You can now start using the "incognito Mode " of your browser . It will not impact the cookies but your surfing will not be in your browser history.

Was going to suggest the same. You can open an incognito window every time you are using the forum and the history won't be saved for anything you do in that window. Your cookies won't get affected nor you would need to do any manual deletion.
547  Other / Meta / Re: Banned after holidays on: December 02, 2018, 02:27:00 PM
It would be a little harsh if that was the reason for the ban, we would have to wait for a mod to clarify.
I interprete Pliagarism as an attempt to copy someone else's work and pass it off as your creation, in order to get acknowledgement or some other form of benefits, or to boost your post count.

There is nothing harsh about that. He copied texts and passed them off as his own, and that is clear plagiarism. Even if his intention wasn't to do that, but the act is considered plagiarism anyway.

It was never my intention to plagiarism someone others stuff

Well, then you could simply paste the link to the source from where you picked them up, which would not make it plagiarism.

i didnt even hear about such a rule

No one would come to you and read them (the rules) out loud for you. You need to read them so that you don't break them and get punished for it.
Below is the rule you've broken, and it is in the rules, which are supposed to be read by everyone using the forum:

33. Posting plagiarized content is not allowed.[e]

Complete list of rules: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=703657.0
548  Other / Meta / Re: Banned after holidays on: December 02, 2018, 12:53:02 PM
The ban is most probably because of plagiarism.

In the past weeks, Ubiq has had multiple software updates, multiple reports produced by the community, multiple guides, more UIP voting w/ Escher, an independent technical critique, representation at various conferences & a game announcing intention to launch on Ubiq

Original:

It might haven't been your intention to do plagiarism, but you are supposed to mention the source, which would specify that the content is not your own but is copied from somewhere else.
There can be more in your post history, but as I found this for now, I mentioned this one.

Maybe the original owner of the account scammed someone by selling him a banned account and now the buyer is trying to get it unlocked? It is not hard to scam someone like that since the profile page doesn't show if an account is banned or not if seen by anyone other than the account holder, and the seller can easily scam someone by giving him the profile link to see the account, and the buyer would not know if it is banned.
549  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How do you promote Bitcoin? on: December 02, 2018, 12:45:18 PM
I don't do it upfront, but I do enter a conversation I hear around me where two or more people are talking about Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies in general. I hear them, let them say what they want to, and then clear their doubts if they have any, or correct their statements if they make some which are not correct about the Bitcoin ecosystem etc.
Most people tend to find suspicion in a product that is highly promoted, and I don't want to give anyone that expression and that is the reason why I don't start a conversation myself about Bitcoin or cryptocurrencies with anyone in person.
550  Other / Meta / Re: NEW FEATURES CAN MAKE THE FORUM MORE FUN on: November 27, 2018, 11:22:31 AM
It is a bitcoin/cryptocurrency forum where people share the knowledge they acquired and get the knowledge they require. It is not a social network where everyone would share their lifestyles and the moments they spend in order to get the reactions of others about them.

The forum is already pretty fun if one dives deep into the actual meaning of the forum and be quite serious about what it offers. And, the Merit system is the way to appreciate a work done by a user on the forum, and the fun part about this system is, you don't get to be a part of the fun unless your work is appreciated by the community itself.
551  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Benefits of a quality post history on: November 27, 2018, 10:17:06 AM
It definitely is crucial to have a good and spam-free post history in order to stand out among all the users around you. A user might post a few decent posts over a week, but he might not be a regular good poster and that is what the history shows. Though a lot of users don't bother to open the history of every user who had posted something good in order to merit it, but some out there do prefer this method, and that is where a good posting habit comes to work.

Edit: I just gave you a merit, after checking your post history.  Wink Grin
552  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Keep the subject simple on: November 26, 2018, 01:00:02 PM
~

I totally agree with you on that. Most of the times, the title kind of misleads you, which happens a lot with me. Every person has their own reading preferences and they all like to read stuff they are interested in. Some people start topics with titles that are the complete opposite of what is actually being discussed inside of it, and it is really annoying to read a title and open the topic in excitement to read something good and then you find out that it has nothing to do with what it refers to in the title.
553  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Privcy Foundation running a fake bounty signature on: November 25, 2018, 08:37:25 AM
Any user joining the campaign, posting for them and not getting paid is responsible himself since the red trust on the profile of the manager makes it crystal clear that the campaign is not legit.

Someone should not just blindly join a signature campaign and promote almost anything for the sake of a few bucks which are nothing else but an illusion which they would realize once the week comes to an end. A minor look at the manager and the reviews and facts about the campaign is worth the time you might spend promoting the project without getting anything in return. People need to understand such basic things, only then such acts won't make a difference for the community.
554  Other / Meta / Re: [Review] Bitcointalk App by unknown user on: November 19, 2018, 11:14:38 AM
Why would someone, at the first place, require an app to use the forum on their mobile while they can easily do that with a web browser?
I've never had any problems in using the forum in my mobile with Chrome web browser. You can read threads, you can post stuff, you can send PMs and access almost every function exists on the forum. I've personally never felt like having an application on my mobile for using the forum, though I don't mind using one if it is officially launched by forum administration department.
555  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: how to delete my account? on: November 18, 2018, 03:38:10 PM
No, there isn't. Stop using this account and make another one if you want to have another username or something like that. But if you are wishing to use the same email to register another username by deleting your existing account, that is not possible.
556  Other / Meta / Re: BANNED, do I get an apology for getting my account back? on: November 18, 2018, 02:29:09 PM
If I'm given a second chance then I will never repeat the mistakes I made.

Why did you make them at the first place? Rules are not meant to be broken. If you break them, you deserve to get punished for that. Have you even read the rules of the forum for at least one time in the total time span of you being on the forum? I really doubt it.
557  Other / Meta / Re: „Self made” Full member thanks to Theymos? Not exactly, but in a sense… on: November 09, 2018, 03:27:01 PM
Nicely done! Smiley
It is very rare to find lower rank members (you are not one anymore, but you come from there) to be thankful to theymos for his doings unless they are trying to get some attention by doing that. It obviously takes a lot of guts to accept and obey something that you have never thought you will have to do, and you did it. Hopefully, more people would also choose the path of hard work and dedication and stop complaining all the time.

Congratulations, and welcome to the Full member club!  Tongue
558  Economy / Services / Re: Bitsgap.com Signature Campaign. Full Members+ Accepted! (filled) on: November 09, 2018, 02:53:35 PM

Wouldn't it be more beneficial for the advertising party to let the posters be free to post in the majority of the boards since it would widen the space of their signature advertising (?), and only exclude a few boards which most of the campaigns don't allow posting in.
559  Other / Meta / Re: These turds look like they are group spamming the same crap on: November 07, 2018, 12:10:32 PM
@OP, you just broke this rule:

Quote
32. Posting multiple posts in a row (excluding bumps and reserved posts by the thread starter) is not allowed.

No matter how serious of a matter you bring up for the betterment of the forum, but it won't be effective as long as you yourself don't care about the things that make the forum a better place.

Come on, people!  Angry
Aren't we done with the Merit related topics yet? It's enough now! We are tired of reading all these useless posts and topics that discuss the same thing over and over again without serving any purpose to the forum nor have any new things to discuss.
Don't you guys get anything else to talk about, at all?  Undecided
