561  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Crypto another form of gambling? on: June 29, 2023, 04:46:47 PM
Agreed, altcoins are a gamble, and none of them are the same as bitcoin. So it is not wrong to say that cryptocurrency is another form of gambling if we are talking about altcoins. Bitcoin is not gambling, but altcoins are gambling and cryptocurrencies including bitcoin and altcoins.
People had to gamble in Bitcoin years ago and they succeeded with their bets. Years later, when Bitcoin is expensive with many people to buy 1 bitcoin, they try to find alternatives. And they have altcoins which are shilled as new Bitcoin and the Bitcoin Pizza story is used to say that altcoins will have their success and altcoin Pizza stories too.

Gambling in altcoins like Ethereum, BNB, Dogecoin brought success but if you did it in LUNA and FTT tokens, you are crying now.
562  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2023/24 on: June 29, 2023, 03:55:56 PM
Barcelona have a way of convincing Marcelo Brozovic to agree to join them on a transfer this summer, it's not just about the money. I know all these top players need money to not only focus on their careers, but they also have desires that maybe need attention that will be remembered throughout the history of their careers.
If it is about money, Brozovic will signal that he wants to move to Saudi Professional League and I am sure he will give many good offers from clubs in Saudi. If they afforded to spend big money for Kante, they can do the same or bigger money for Brozovic. Because in the last season, Brozovic performed better than Kante, more appearances, good show in World Cup 2022 and had amazing season with Inter Milan to Champions League final.

Quote
Playing for Barcelona is a dream for most players, of course not all, but most players will find it difficult to refuse the offer so they will definitely feel a dilemma when two offers come simultaneously.
But it probably is or isn't a dream of Brozovic. We don't know about his dream and he has yet revealed about his dreamed club.

Quote
Barcelona is a big team and they are a team that has a great history in European football, so even though Barcelona has financial problems some players can also consider it because it's hard to refuse their hearts.
Inter Milan is a big team too and they even played better than Barcelona in the last season. They went to a Champions League final match but Barcelona dropped to Europa League play-off then were beaten by Manchester United too.

Quote
Marcelo Brozovic will probably join Barcelona, but I don't know how the transfer situation will develop.
I really don't think so. It only happens if Brozovic is a fan of Barcelona but he is not.
563  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoins and it's potential on: June 29, 2023, 03:47:24 PM
I think it all boils down to your thought that there are people that are in living in the poverty that holds Bitcoin.
If you are poor and in poverty, you have more priorities than invest in Bitcoin. You can not invest in Bitcoin and get rich after one day, it's unrealistic dream. If you understand it, you will use your money to buy food to live first.

Hopefully people are in poverty will not unrealistically think that they will get rich after one night with Bitcoin. I very hope so because if they have such belief, they will be invited to Ponzi that only causes them from poor, poverty to suicide.

The poor can be benefited from Bitcoin even they don't have money to invest. They can learn and work with jobs in blockchain industry as free lancers. They can receive salary in bitcoin or use their salary to buy food till a day their life is good enough to buy bitcoin.
564  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoins and it's potential on: June 29, 2023, 11:26:45 AM
With my view as at the time of writing , I think bitcoins will go long way to reduce poverty if they allow it achieve it's purpose.
Bitcoin is not a source of money for everyone to come and withdraw money like a free ATM. It can not help to reduce poverty. Did you read the zero sum game theory?

What is a zero-sum game?

Quote
Reducing poverty in my context is not about profit but the peer to peer transaction mechanism.
How can peer to peer transactions help to reduce poverty?

bitcoin is transacted on its blockchain (Bitcoin blockchain), peer to peer and 1 bitcoin is 1 bitcoin. You move 1 bitcoin to another peer and it will be a bit less than 1 bitcoin if minus a transaction fee. No one get rich with two peers in the transaction.
565  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Why is crypto trading so similar yet so different from Forex trading? on: June 28, 2023, 11:33:56 PM
The main difference is that trading on the cryptocurrency market is associated with high volatility, which we do not observe in Forex. And despite the fact that you can use leverage both on Forex and on the crypto market, there will be significantly more liquidations on the crypto market.
Forex market is volatile too with very high leverage. Cryptocurrenculy market is younger and has less regulations so developers, projects founders, whales and signal groups can manipulate price more regularly and more easily.

I see both markets are very volatile and risky if we use leverage for trading. Knowledge for trading, indicators are the same but each market has its different sensitivity with news. News can lift price up or dump it and can kill your position shortly when you are not aware of such news.
566  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My bitcoin journey mistakes and moral lesson on: June 28, 2023, 02:37:52 PM

That is another. The minute you start analysing stories like this you find points that don't hold water. You don't know how true the OP's story is and what his real intention was in writing it.
I read the topic but only quoted the above part to discuss. The rest part of this long story is like a fiction, not worth reading and fairly enough to say, what is a point or lesson from this story.

Last few days I read one or two more topics about members from 2016, 2017 rejoined he forum and wrote long stories. You can get any lesson from those stories or nothing, each reader will see it differently.
567  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Bitcoin must surpass gold on: June 28, 2023, 02:13:33 PM
We compare everything, even in the case of objects that belong to different categories and are difficult to compare. In those cases we tend to use heuristics and change the difficult question for an easier one, with the risk of making serious mistakes.

Back on topic, I think that it will be interesting to add an updated chart that shows the historical ratio between Bitcoin and gold. Take into account that Y axis is not linear (logarithmic scale):

Source: https://www.longtermtrends.net/bitcoin-vs-gold/

Bitcoin is younger than Gold and only appears since 2009. Gold has been here in human civilization in many centuries and it has gotten enough tests for demands and market, economical and political changes.

In The bullish case for Bitcoin. The author compares Bitcoin and gold with excellent insights.

ROI chart between Bitcoin, Gold, S&P500, US Bond in last 10 years shows Bitcoin strongly outperforms others.
568  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My bitcoin journey mistakes and moral lesson on: June 28, 2023, 01:55:56 PM
In 2016, when I first heard about Bitcoin.

When I started reading and researching about bitcoin and its technology
In 2016, there was less noises from altcoins and altcoin forums like now. If you did your research with Internet and search engines, Bitcointalk forum would appear at top of Google Search.

It is myth if you searched on Internet and did not see Bitcointalk in the list.

You could find that site https://bitcoin.org/en/ and get the link to Bitcointalk at https://bitcoin.org/en/community

569  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Lotteries and possibility vs. probability on: June 25, 2023, 03:55:21 PM
LOL! this is great Cheesy I simulated 25 years and lost 5.000€.

Not that I'll stop playing lottery because of that, but that tool can help a lot to manage expectations, since many people has trouble with abstract numbers, but anyone understands the simulation when displayed.
It is funny but result from your example simulation explains why lottery companies get rich easily. Only their customers get poorer but they keep up buying lottery tickets because they have belief that they will become billionaire if they win a lottery someday.

Won prize is actually awarded to winner but we must know even paying huge award, lottery companies are still rich with income from many other lottery tickets which end with no reward for their customers
570  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2022/23 on: June 24, 2023, 11:47:54 PM
That was the big gamble that Real Madrid did at that time they made Hazard Transfer break the Club record but in reality we see Hazard failed to make a big contribution to Real Madrid.  There were many obstacles that prevented him from showing the quality he had because of the injury he had experienced. In addition, there was strong competition to become the coach's first choice, as in last season, it could be said that Hazard was a player who often filled the bench.
In such big transfers, clubs have to bet that their money will result in good contributions from the player. Haazard played very well in Chelsea and before the transfer, he won Europa League with Chelsea but during few months in the summer, after the transfer to Real Madrid, Hazard shown bad signal by becoming overweight within a few months.

Even he would not get too many injuries, with such body, he could not play well. In reality, overweight contributed to his injuries during the time in Real Madrid too. Real Madrid did not know about vulnerable body of Hazard if Chelsea hid the fact before the transfer but they did not control what Hazard will do with his mouth after the transfer.

Quote
So this season, by agreement of both parties, they decided to split up after 4 seasons together. For the latest news about Hazard, it seems that there is no official club to use his services next season and it is possible that he will choose to retire early.
He is still young but already becomes a useless player. It's a big regret for Hazard and football as he can make his career better. He is not only unlucky with injuries but also be responsible for this by his unprofessionality.
571  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Halving and Blackrock on: June 24, 2023, 11:40:01 PM
1. Is it correct to assume that each halving will result in a 50% reduction in rewards?
( If current reward is .0003 BTC, reward after halving will be .00015 ) ?
Not assumption because it is hard coded in the Bitcoin Protocol. Bitcoin block rewards will be halved after every 210,000 blocks.

How is the 21 Million Bitcoin Cap Defined and Enforced?

Quote
2. Is there a good calculator for ROI and estimated rewards ( per day ) that calculates 5-10 years in the future or allows an input for estimated future value of BTC ?
No estimation for ROI for miners because it will depend on their cost to mine bitcoins and price of Bitcoin at the same time.

Equivalent network time is interesting. It shows how many time miners will have to spend more to mine 1 bitcoin with time. It's not ROI estimation.

3. Will BlackRock and the central bankers be able to fork BTC into a proof of stake coin? ( How are changes to BTC created ?)
They can fork like hundreds of useless forks and many of them died.
How Many Bitcoin Forks Are There? You will be surprised!!!
572  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Newbie Crypto Advice on: June 24, 2023, 01:16:42 PM
Hello I am looking to invest my 20,000 dollars for retirement but I don't know the best crypto for me to put into to save myself from inflation.
Fiat currencies are losing their purchasing powers but it has been lasting since appearances of fiat currencies. If our ancestors can live well and even were rich with fiat currencies, we can be the same. You are right to find alternative assets to invest and run away from fiat currency inflation but your choice on what asset to spend capital for it is important. If you choose wrong, you lose money and surely will have worse finance than if simply hold your fiat.

Quote
I'm 64 years old and don't have the time to learn the ins and outs of this crypto stuff so if anyone can give me advice I would appreciate it.
If you don't want to learn, even basics of what you will invest money in, just don't invest. Keep your capital in fiat will be best choice for you.

573  Economy / Gambling / Re: Roobet.com | Crypto’s Fastest Growing Casino 🦘 on: June 24, 2023, 01:10:10 PM
Yeah, all casinos of high level should be doing something like that all the time. And if they are using crypto currencies, they should be running various contests here on bitcointalk primarily. Online casinos like Roobet🦘 understand it, and that is why their business is good, they are thriving. Those who want to avoid spending money on such events, will be losers in the future, I have no doubt about that.
Bitcointalk is a biggest forum for Bitcoin discussions, altcoin discussions, cryptocurrency casinos, bounties and it is a most favorite destination for online casinos which accept cryptocurrencies to advertise their businesses.

Spending money to advertise on a biggest forum is wise and never wrong. There are other forums which have less traffics than Bitcointalk and I can say without fear to make my statement like exaggeration. Advertisement on other forums will bring less benefit and more like wasting your marketing budget.

If other businesses don't promote on Bitcointalk, will their businesses die? I don't think they will have bad business ending but they can develop their business better by joining Bitcointalk and spending marketing budget here.
574  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you think it's still wrong selling properties for Bitcoin? on: June 23, 2023, 03:04:05 PM
I am this close to making double of my money yesterday when I looked at my Bitcoin wallet, this was the Bitcoin I bought at 17k with two acres of farm lands I sold in 2022, I still feel very happy right now because of my decision, I believe that some risks are worth taking and mine is paying off, some people tried to talk me out of this, if I have keep the lands yes it could grow big in future, but the fastest growth of Bitcoin is far more enticing for me.
Selling something like lands, real estates to buy bitcoin can be good and can be bad. What will you do after you buy bitcoin?

Will your plan is holding it like an investment or trading it like a trader? It will decide your ending with profit or loss. If it is investment, how long will you hold it is important. If you can not hold it long enough to get profit, you will get the opposite, loss.

Quote
I am excited to see how 2024 and 2025 will play out, tell me, is anyone taking such risks with Bitcoin investment? Do you think I went too far selling something as valuable as lands?
If you will have empty hands after selling those properties and only get bitcoin in your hands after that, it's bad. No one can be sure about future and we don't know the future of Bitcoin. We can have belief but you must not bet all with our belief.
575  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: The green shouldn't always be the reason to enter the market on: June 23, 2023, 02:53:19 PM
During a bull market, many people are attracted to crypto trading with the hopes of making quick profits, they probably allure of seeing green moves, and the possibility of immediate gains can be quite enticing for some traders.
It is more easily to get profit in bull market if you buy bitcoin and hold it. If you trade it, you can be one of market losers who pay money to winners and help them richer.
If in a bull run, you trade with leverage and open trading position like Short Bitcoin, you will be one of losers.

So green won't bring profit if you are doing things against the market trend.

Quote
They should understand that crypto markets can be highly volatile, and relying solely on short-term price movements can be risky.
When you focus on short term trading, you increase your chance to trade against a market trend.

Quote
Long-term investors often reap the benefits of patience and holding coins through market cycles, allowing them to potentially benefit from significant price appreciation over time, this is the mindset of the crypto enthusiast, not them.
Always investors have more profit than traders and it is correct with Bitcoin. If you can hold your bitcoin, you will get rich.

I gave you 5, but I stopped looking when I saw that enormous image that you posted.
Welcome back Jet Cash. You always hate images but I understand it.

Images consume bandwidths and impact loading experience for people who have limited access to low speed of Internet.

Images are annoying if they are too large and the poster don't use options width and height to reduce its display size. Those options only reduce the display size but the image size will not be changed and still can affect loading experience.

Guideline on posting images (with size adjustments), hyperlinks
577  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin - Asset Or Currency? on: June 22, 2023, 01:59:19 PM
It just evolved though, it was really design as a payment system. But there are individuals who I will say take advantage in the beginning and when bitcoin has a price, then it become a asset.
After 14 years since 2009, with serious losses of fiat currencies' purchasing power and with exponential growth of Bitcoin price, they found that Bitcoin is a good asset.

Nowadays, with high trading volume of Bitcoin, they can more easily to buy and sell bitcoins. Price won't be dumped if they sell their bitcoins on the market and there are OTC markets for whales too.

Quote
Your argument is invalid though, it's not that complicated, there are countries already who uses LN for fast transactions. And there are still merchants who are accepting it as mode of payment but maybe the numbers right now is not that big.
The adoption of Lightning Network is good recent years and if Bitcoin has good growth, Lightning Network can have better growth because people nowadays are more aware about Bitcoin and it is less vagueness, barriers to convince people using Bitcoin and learning about Lightning Network.

  • decreased the withdrawal fees for Bitcoin, even supporting fee-free withdrawals
Could you elaborate this change, please?

Decreasing withdrawal fee for Bitcoin is understandable because Bitcoin mempools are better recently than months ago with side effects from Ordinals and BRC-20 meme tokens.

What does fee-free withdrawals mean?
Is it applied for Bitcoin, I guess your casino does not support fee-free withdrawals if users choose Bitcoin for their withdrawals.

I think with two change you posted, the fee-free withdrawals will apply for some altcoins.
579  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: New question for experts on: June 22, 2023, 11:30:26 AM
I'm not really sure if it's worth or not because not all people who're organizing event is to adopt and help people to invest in Bitcoin.
We can do many things with Bitcoin and investment in Bitcoin is one of them. We can organize many things to help Bitcoin adoption and not only about Bitcoin investment.

Quote
Most of people who're organizing event just to promote their projects e.g. centralized exchange, trading bot, wallet, casino that related about money making.
They are doing right things. Building products, bringing more use cases for Bitcoin and they have freedom to promote their projects, businesses and products. If they are building good businesses (not Ponzi, not scam), good products which solve good problems and demand in society, it is good and we should support them.

Quote
So if you can learn by yourself, it's better to learn Bitcoin by watching few videos and books rather than hoping someone teach you on the event.

Your score will be like many scores from many review websites. If they don't public their formulas, source code, you will no be able to check the reasonable formula and its accuracy.

There are some websites to get community warnings, reports labels about tagged scam addresses. Those tags are from community reports, tags so they can be inaccurate. Like Trust Rating on Trust pilot and the likes. We can use them for references but validity and accuracy are unknown.
