563  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [DATACOIN] Brainstorming - Giveaway! on: December 11, 2013, 06:46:59 PM
Let's make it easy for new people to mine this coin ,  a lot of people start mining now , if they know (and let know ) how easy it is to
mine datacoin with .bat files and . conf files , i think a lot of people will mine datacoin , we talk to much in an comp language , explane how
easy it is to mine from point 1 to 100000

It's in progress now, we're waiting for linux miner  version. After it I'll post full article about mining.

It would be great to to implement "Your storage" build-in the client, something like a domain manager in new namecoin:

DNazsHLkWPPy6ZyybEueqwyKH5jK9oW6e7  Wink

mstfck works at this, he recently showed me this feature in linux wallet, so we'll get it on windows soon

D6KJcvFPsfcdfVVufsnhtbFnBNVMUtpRc5
It would be great if the Datacoin site offered an online wallet for users of mobile connections with limited bandwidth.

We also thought about that, so now krypte.net is usable for mobiles, and later we'll develop Android\iPhone apps for wallet.

Don't know if I can get more but here are some more ideas

-Make a data coin website that has the trends of the DTC price and the projected gain in price over the next few weeks
-When you search data coin nothing comes up on google so you may want to have someone create a website that just talks about what data coin is and why it's better than the other currencies, with a link to where these people can buy DTC
-Get businesses and people to accept DTC as payment for items because then more people will buy into the idea of the new coin

D9MzXmYi4mS1caNTxJBWSUy2bGoeeaKYDi

1. It can be implemented at current version of the site, I will work with this.
2. It's also in progress now, we have a journalist who will publish some articles soon
3. DTC is 'service and money' all-in-one, so it doesn't need to be accepted by 3rd parties so strong as other coins need. But there is Datacoin Bounty thread, and rewards announced for implementing DTC on websites.

I don't know if this has been said before, but Datacoin could probably be the host of its own exchange! Each buy/sell transaction could take the DTC as a fee, and the metadata has the transaction details. This coin seems really interesting, and I hope it gets more popular soon.
And yes let's get the pools cranking out already!

Awesome idea, it's something like mastercoin mechanism. It is not for near future, but it really can be implemented.

Coins sent to all! Thanks for ideas!

Hi community.

As many of you know, Datacoin is growing fast. Many new users are coming, developers create new applications, a lot of announces coming.
If you have any ideas that can be helpful for Datacoin, and want to discuss them in real-time, please notify me in this thread. We're planning to conduct a big discussion - not at forum, but with help of Skype or IRC, and you can also take part in it if you have something to discuss.

Stay tuned with Datacoin! Smiley

566  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: CRYPTSY DOWN AGAIN!!! 502 BAD GATEWAY on: December 11, 2013, 03:00:07 PM
Just happened again.... why does this KEEP happening??

Why do you think it keeps happening?  They are supporting dozens of altcoins on a brand new platform with a huge influx of new users.  When Apple or Google launch a new phone their servers crash and they have unlimited funds.

I'm not saying you should love Cryptsy, use it or don't - but what would you say is the better alternative?  I'm willing to give them some time to work through things.

I don't have anything against cryptsy, but they freeze all my funds because of that stupid 'negative balance' bug. And it's not only my problem.
567  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: CRYPTSY DOWN AGAIN!!! 502 BAD GATEWAY on: December 11, 2013, 02:46:19 PM
I confirm this. 2.5 days for solving balance issues (still not resolved), these 501-502 errors... I want to leave Cryptsy and to get all my coins out of it, but I cannot do it!  Angry

What type of promotion will you accept for the bounty?
Promotions on technical and\or economical resources with many unique visitors.

Datacoin allows such possibility today Smiley
570  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [Datacoin] External miner released! on: December 11, 2013, 01:33:17 PM
I've just checked the logs, the diff was 9.6.
9.7489277 is much more than 9.6. This difference can lead to 3x-6x less coins per day. Remember that diff is not linear, but exponential
571  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [Datacoin] External miner released! on: December 11, 2013, 12:32:33 PM
I was mining with jhPrimeminer for the last 24h with 6 PCs (core i5-i7). Found two blocks, or in other words paid as much for electricity as the coin value is (probably even a loss). Don't know if jhPrimeminer is the cause. Was mining with datacoind 2 weeks ago (diff was less) and had 6 blocks with 6 PCs in 24h.
2 weeks ago diff was much lower...
572  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: DataCoin vs ElephantCoin vs Bitcoin for storing data. on: December 11, 2013, 11:04:02 AM
I notice that datacoin uses primecoin POW algorithm.  ELP uses scrypt.

I would think that a coin whose primary purpose is storing data would be a good candidate for merge mining with bitcoin, to ensure the security / integrity of the data.    Anyway that seems to have worked well for namecoin.

Hmm, would it be possible to merge-mine datacoin with primecoin?   or ELP with litecoin?      I imagine that would require a hard-fork at this point.

Anyway, just wondering if merge-mining was considered for datacoin during development...?

I don't exactly now about 'during development', but you can ask directly oocook5u or wait when he gives answer on that - this Q was asked some time ago
573  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: DataCoin vs ElephantCoin vs Bitcoin for storing data. on: December 11, 2013, 10:25:51 AM
Afaik, Datacoin is the only one where the main service is data storage, and that's the actual value of the coin.  Data storage.  So the coin actually has intrinsic value even if there are no payment adopters because it's spendable within its own network.
Yes, it is brilliant economical idea: product and money in the same technology. We will release financial analysis for Datacoin soon, and this idea will be one of its main points.
574  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: DataCoin vs ElephantCoin vs Bitcoin for storing data. on: December 11, 2013, 10:16:07 AM
So Datacoin seems to be up and coming these days, seemingly because it caters to storing data in the blockchain.

ElephantCoin has been around for a long time and offers the ability to store strings.

So how is datacoin different or better in this regard?  or is it?

Also, bitcoin 0.9 will support OP_RETURN which allows storing some data in fake addresses without needing to actually send any BTC.

As I understand it, ElephantCoin allows one to send tweetish size strings while DataCoin allows one to store multiple Kb and even more if you pay for it.

Is there more to it than that?    Do other coins support storing data?

In that case ElephantCoin can be really used for something like anonymous twitter, Datacoin - for storing big files and archives (it's possible to create whole 'Datacoin Internet'), OP_RETURN in Bitcoin - something just like comments on multiple transactions etc.

As I know, Namecoin also allows to store data, but it has strong restrictions for formats.

Some days ago I transalated the existing guide for Datacoin mining into spanish language, and started a thread for promoting the coin in the spanish speaking community https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=362936 Smiley

I don't know if a qualify Tongue, but I'm supporting this coin, I believe it has potential and the numbers already tell it! I'm at work now so I don't have my DTC address here, if you reply saying I qualify I'll post my wallet in a few hours  Grin

Of course you can get some DTC! Smiley Post your wallet and PM me when you do it.

Here is my address: DBanaWs7kt8qf6AQbd3aDfDW8cBbyFBeDx  Smiley thanks maxsolnc!
Sent you ~3 DTC blocks! Smiley

Just got list of all transactions with attached data from http://www.chainbrowser.com/ , checked some of this data via https://krypte.net - all works perfect!  Smiley

578  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: interesting new coin[DATACOIN] on: December 11, 2013, 09:23:07 AM
nice work on the new developments everybody dang.  so in the chain browser, those files- those are encrypted files people have put onto the blockchain?  is there any way to unencrypt them?  this is really cool.

I think that most of these files (just now) are bzipped, but in future there will be easy steps for encrypting. Just now you can also do it, but in that case you need command promt .

580  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][Datacoin] Datacoin blockchain start announcement (Minor code upd + logo) on: December 11, 2013, 08:55:10 AM
We really need a public pool for this coin. Someone has been quietly mining with a small pool for a while now. An example is:

http://www.chainbrowser.com/datacoin/block/9aad979fdd8b9e66723b689a63c31e065a22d4eb84671b7bb1a7e04d5bac9690/

I think that it is not pool, but couple of VPS instances pointed to one.
Main difficulty with pool is implementing some protocol for avoiding cheating, so it's not such easy as with scrypt coins. But you can start your own 'pool' with your friends where no one will cheat Smiley

BTW - thanks for block explorer one more time!
no, this dosnt work. if you point multiple miners to a getwork rpc, all blocks found will end up just as if its solo mining.
Yes, my fault, of course. I was just thinking about some kind of private p2pool, so was in mess with that.
