581  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 NBA Season on: October 31, 2021, 01:38:54 AM
What happened to the Dallas Mavericks? I was expecting a very close game but it's just a one sided beatdown.

Luka needs help badly. I think the Mavs trusted in his ability to carry the team too much. There's really nobody else when he struggles. I thought the likes of Hardaway Jr. could help out but that's still not the case unfortunately. Kristap is also unreliable even if healthy.

Maybe it is his fault?

I love Luka just as much as the next person but he's sometimes disengaged whenever he's not on ball and that's something that has been neglected by fans too much.

This is the reason why Porzingis was struggling last season and why role players find it hard to be consistent.

Welcome to the daily fluctuations of bitcoin price.

If you look on the charts of all major asset classes, including BTC, you'll see these so called "patterns" forming all the time.

They don't mean anything and it doesn't necessarily have to be caused by anything in particular either. Just stay the course. Time in the market > timing the market.
583  Economy / Economics / Re: eNaira launched in Nigeria as a digital currency on: October 29, 2021, 09:22:10 PM
The same comments could be made to any other decentralized crypto.

The fact that BTC is looked down upon but CBDCs are embraced is honestly an atrocity, but not a surprising one at the very least.

Governments want more control and that is exactly what BTC takes away from them. CBDCs, despite having the blockchain infrastructure, arguably centralizes the monetary system even more into the hands of the government/central bank which is hardly a good thing.
584  Other / Off-topic / Re: Facebook Plan To Rebrand Name To Meta on: October 29, 2021, 08:56:20 PM
I think that this move was very carefully thought out and runs deeper than people believe.

There are speculations that facebook is doing this to separate their assets from their original brand to be able to preserve them under another limited liability corporation. With all due respect, I wouldn't be surprised if this was actually the case.

Hopefully this is a starting point for mainstream adoption of Metaverse technology though which is something crypto is going to be at the forefront of.
585  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin's new All Time High (ATH) has been reached this year again (X2) on: October 29, 2021, 08:36:48 PM
Bitcoin is the only true store of value imho.

Its first mover advantage in the cryptospace is immense. People are recognising this now and putting money into bitcoin as a safe haven asset when they have made gains in other cryptos.

Definitely watch bitcoin dominance, as I think there is tremendous upside for that index even now.
586  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Binance Seizing Accounts! on: October 29, 2021, 08:14:04 PM
For all centralized exchanges this is the endgame. Binance is not invicible.

They obviously are going to be comply with regulators especially if they are large because they don't want to lose the ability to operate in these countries.

But this is often at the detriment to users as they are subject to the arbitrary rulings of the courts etc. This is why DeFi is the way forward too - not going to find that sort of issue when your exchange is operated without a central point of failure.
587  Economy / Economics / Re: Former President Introduces Reason Behind Crypto Crackdown on: October 29, 2021, 07:57:22 PM
These problems that they have raised are valid.

But are any of them enough to warrant a flat-out ban? I don't think so.

There is clearly some sort of agenda outside of the fact that network fees are higher etc. that is pushing this ban forward. Pushing CBDCs in lieu of decentralized cryptos is probably always a necessary thing for the central bank to do to maintain their control, and it's not just China.
588  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Will cat coins 1000x next? on: October 29, 2021, 10:23:19 AM
I can't believe this is even a point of discussion.

Yeah, any meme token could possibly 100x but what's the point? What are they contributing to the crypto landscape that we don't have already?

We don't need more fake innovation in the space of blockchain tech. Most people don't even hear about these tokens until it is way too late to buy in for a profit.
589  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Long Term Investment Suggestion on: October 29, 2021, 07:24:48 AM
As per the current market situation, many good coins are falling due to dot, cake and many other reasons. I would suggest buy cake, sol, and such coins for at least 5k amount, and soon those coins will return high profit margin

I honestly wouldn't bother with SOL.

Price is inflated quite drastically and I think that you are better off holding some of the more established coins such as ETH.

You could diversify into some of these high risk, high reward coins like SOL and ADA, sure. But at the end of the day you shouldn't have them constitute the majority of your portfolio.
590  Economy / Economics / Re: Time to foot the bill on: October 28, 2021, 04:41:09 AM
As I mentioned a while ago, and as it is obvious for everyone, the money printing and giveaways for furloughs and checks signed by "the president" party is not ended or about to end. And it is time for the hangover. Inflation rises, as it could not be otherwise. The private sector, particularly some sectors, are experiencing a demand of qualified workers and that means that salaries are likely to keep with inflation. However, the governments are playing with the idea of not keeping public salaries with inflation.

Depending on the country and the flexibility, this means that civil servants and public sector may become underpaid and those who actually have skills may leave to the private sector. As a result, I forecast that public services are going to deteriorate.

This is already happening across the world.

More and more people are leaving fixed jobs that are paying a measly salary that does not rise with inflation for higher risk, higher reward combinations.

The public sector is already very inefficient to put it nicely and without attractive remuneration I don't know how they can keep up with the demand for their services.
591  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Will Shiba INU tokens continue to rise? on: October 28, 2021, 04:24:36 AM
In the long run, SHIB is going to go to zero.

There is no doubt about that. There is virtually no utility for the token, no infrastructure etc. Community engagement admittedly is fantastic but that in itself shouldn't give any coin a valuation within the realms of Top 10 cryptos.

But you shouldn't short it either, especially not with leverage. Markets will stay irrational longer than you can stay solvent.

I'd just sit it out honestly. You've missed the easy money in this pump, just let it go.
592  Other / Archival / Re: False Breakout ? on: October 28, 2021, 02:59:53 AM
In terms of long term growth I am almost certain that bitcoin will hit 6 figures in a few years/next halving cycle.

But the bullish sentiment in the marketplace right now is euphoric and almost outrageous. There are people calling for $150k BTC by the end of the year, $1 mil BTC by 2022, etc. etc. These are just not possible even with the Bito approval.

These are good indicators that the current bull market is likely close to being finished, imho. And this is coming from a long term bitcoin holder.
593  Economy / Gambling / Re: BetABit.Casino - Share Your Thoughts on: October 28, 2021, 12:35:23 AM
A few questions:

1. Are you committed to having a No-KYC policy? This is a very pertinent concern of pretty much every crypto gambling player right now given that increasingly casinos are backtracking on such policy.

2. Any plans on improving site design in the near term future? I like the idea of a prediction market but quite honestly the design looks like it has been done in 30 minutes.
594  Economy / Economics / Re: Would crypto gain full intrinsic value? on: October 27, 2021, 11:59:11 PM
With the high level of volatility and constant fluctuation in market capitalization on crypto currencies would there ever come a time we would trade crypto based on the value it has in it's self and not in exchange for fiat currency. Many countries has now adopted crypto as mode of payment but we are still faced with the issues of price irregularities. If we decide to adopt crypto fully as a global legal tender how do we deal with this price fluctuation.

This is the edge fiat and centralized currencies have over crypto and this has made so many shy away from doing legal business transaction using some crypto most especially during bear market. Can this issue get a remedy?

Intrinsic value is not "gained".

Bitcoin already has intrinsic value because of the fact that it is scarce, and no one can ever tamper with the scarcity of BTC.

But at the end of the day, I do think that there will be a time when BTC is used as a unit of account in and of itself. People are increasingly not caring about what price action we can on a daily, weekly basis. We need more merchant adoption and integration for this process to accelerate.
595  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: gambling addiction is getting real on: October 27, 2021, 10:47:21 PM
lost 20k in 2 days , used up all my profits from my portfolio , and i just wanted to keep on going . how you guys stop yourself from betting/gambling on casino ?

looking for ways to bet on sportsbook but not on casino , but stake does not provide the option for that .  Undecided

Man, take it easy.

Understand that you'll get the $20k back as a matter of time. If you had that much money in the first place I'm 99% certain that you have the ability to generate that sort of income in a decent amount of time.

However, it is time to wake up to the reality.

Gambling is simply entertainment and will not give you long term gains. This applies to sportsbetting as well, unless you are doing arbitrage betting or actually have some basis in tipstering (unlikely from your behaviour).

Treat it that way. Expect losses. If you expect anything more, you have the wrong mindset and you're bound to lose lots.
596  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Make Sure to Stake your Tokens or You'll Miss Out on Great Passive Income on: October 27, 2021, 10:30:21 PM
Well, not necessarily.

Yes, you'd be stupid to not stake your tokens. But it shouldn't be considered passive income by any means.

Your staking rewards comes directly from an inflated supply of the tokens you hold, which ultimately means that you're just keeping your share of the network relatively equal. If you don't stake, you are essentially losing share of the network. Only things like liquidity farming etc. can be truly considered passive income.
597  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Issue of fixed Matches on: October 27, 2021, 10:07:17 PM
I was with a friend today who was in a hurry to place his bet on some numbers that were sent to him for some football matches that he believes are fixed. I'm a bit confused how fixed matches work.

Are fixed matches real? Do the coach and players of teams were matches have been fixed, do they consent to it? If you were in a team were your next fixture has been fixed, what will be your reaction?

Yes, they are real.

But are you able to captalise on any fixed matches? I highly doubt it.

There are a ton of scammers who fake having fixed matches information but at the end of the day what they're trying to do is just get you to pay them a share of any profits you make. They do this until you lose - in which case, of course, they just stop contacting you.

I've personally seen these scams happen in the past and it's all a game of numbers. The more people they reach out to, the more likely someone is going to win and think that the matches are actually fixed.
598  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Going for the Underdog or Not? on: October 27, 2021, 08:44:57 AM
I'd go for the underdog.

They generally have better expected returns because people like to back the favourites the majority of the time.

If it was an inconsequential amount of money anyway, I'd want the most possible returns possible. No point going for a surebet which has next to zero upside in this instance.
599  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NO KYC Sportbooks? on: October 26, 2021, 08:13:00 AM
What are some sportbooks that will NEVER ask for KYC

You simply can't find one.

You can try use Stake and Nitrogenbet who have traditionally never asked for KYC, but that is definitely not a guarantee that they won't in the future as it is embedding in their T&Cs that they will be able to ask for KYC as they wish.

At the end of the day there is going to be a degree of trust necessary when you play on these sites.
600  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Fiat-betting to crypto+betting on: October 26, 2021, 07:54:03 AM
The lack of KYC, and it is generally a lot less prone to bookmakers banning accounts etc.

Crypto withdrawals are also lightning fast which is in direct contrast to fiat withdrawals which can take up to days even with top tier services such as Betfair.

It's just that the limits are generally lower and odds are a bit worse. Otherwise there's really no reason why anyone would want to use a fiat sportsbook.
