I think you have to zoom out of your lookings into the market, we're still up a gross amount since Trump took the office of the Presidency.

If we're able to recover past this drop, OR stay at this number --

Trade war is going to start affecting a lot of American companies negatively this last quarter, China isn't backing down LOL.  The smart money is taking profits before the shit hits the fan.  An adviser to the Fed today predicted another recession in America by 2020 LOL and in fact mentioned that part of the reason the fed raised interest rates fairly quickly is to try and push that time out further as well as have a little cushion when it does happen to soften the blow.

While its fair to say that it may just be a correction it is also very fair to argue that this may be a signal the market is responding to Trumps reckless spending and trade war.

To be fair a 5% drop in 2 days is premature to add to rally speeches but if it gets worse the dems will talk about this right up to the MT's!

Nikki Haley’s name is being thrown around after her mysterious departure announcement.

Not sure if serious or trying to be funny, but I laughed either way, thanks!

Cool story bro. You keep doubling down. See how that works out. I wouldn't want to interrupt.

I ain't doubling down on shit bro, Chief Justice Roberts and the 10th circuit court is getting in the game now bro, you can ignore it if you want but uhh sticking your head in the sand isn't going to change the facts!

He's gonna be the shortest serving SC Justice in the history of your country, Party Barty just loves all these firsts!!!
584  Other / Politics & Society / Re: 2018 USA Mid Terms! Red or Blue Waves?!? on: October 11, 2018, 02:31:28 AM
Good timing for the dems, Kavanaughs ethics complaint has been referred for judicial review by SC Chief Justice Roberts to the 10th circuit court of appeals (Merrick Garlands Court, although he recused himself rightly so when the complaints first came up).

The bubble popped, the DOW dropped off a cliff today down 800 points.

Ford Motor Co. announced Trumps tariffs have cost the company 1 billion dollars so far.

Great talking points for the dems, while the president runs around encouraging chants of "lock her up" and mocking respected senator Diane Finestein in Pennsylvania.

585  Other / Politics & Society / Re: The Court Has Confirmed Brett Kavanaugh on: October 11, 2018, 01:49:12 AM
He did have a full investigation, 7 of them.

Guess what, he now gets to add a judicial review prompted by an ethics complaint issued to Chief Justice Roberts to his record.  Chief Justice Roberts has decided that the 10th circuit court of appeals will review current and new allegations concerning Barts ethics!

Bart is racking up an impressive number of firsts!!!  He is now the first sitting Justice to be subject to a judicial review thanks to his temper tantrum, lol.

Perfect timing for the dems on this one, I assume Chief Justice Roberts is in on the Clinton revenge plot and left wing hoax eh?

LMFAO I look forward to the day I read about Bart resigning haha, hopefully it happens before old Party Barty can do real damage to the SC and just maybe at a time when dems control the senate LOL!

As has been pointed out never interrupt your opponent when they are making a mistake!

~Snip~

I got a question for you brewski!

Let me frame this for you.
Squatz is a powerful rich white guy.
Squatz is up for a job only 9 people on the planet hold at one time.
Squatz has the POTUS on speed dial!!  Cool
Squatz is an adoring husband and father who had a few beers from time to time in HS and college but never once acted in a sexually inappropriate way in his entire life.
Squatz is accused of attempted rape and other heinous criminal acts and is 100% innocent.
Sqautz is 100% sure since he didn't do this that it is a political hit job on him, an orchestrated hoax, a conspiracy to delay his job promotion.
Sqautz and many others feel this could ruin his and his families lives and forever tarnish his image in him in his new important job.
The FBI is on the POTUS's speed dial and can order the FBI who has ~12000 agents available to try and clear your name and prove the hoax. conspiracy, Squatz' innocence.
Squatz knows the POTUS really really really wants him to get the job.

The question now is would you call the President and ask him to get the best agency in the world to try to clear your name?  Or would you sit back and the black cloud hang over you and let everyone make an uniformed decision based on no facts.

Occam's razor bro, Kavanaugh had EVERYTHING to gain and absolutely nothing to lose by asking for a full investigation if he was 100% innocent. Clarence Thomas and George Bush did a full investigation.

Completely outside of the sexual misconduct allegations you have an unprecedented move by the legal community where thousands of legal professionals signed a letter expressing their view that Bart wasn't fit for the bench.

Also even more unprecedented is a former justice going on the record stating Bart wasn't fit for the bench.

Republicans won, that's a fact but at what cost guys.  When the house goes blue they are going to bog down trumps WH with investigation after investigation.  The justice Kavanaugh story is only beginning.

587  Economy / Reputation / Re: Negative trust for an opinion? on: October 09, 2018, 12:19:11 PM
We don't want a community where people are afraid to state their opinions for fear of retaliation...

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion not their own fucking facts...  Do you know who likes to make up and change facts to suit their own agenda, we call them dictators (and President Trump)

As a very wise man once said, "Pssssssh facts are meaningless, you can use facts to prove anything even remotely true, facts schmacks"

I think the moderation of that thread is probably a bit too aggressive.

I had a post deleted that were discussing Merrick Garland, and this is a rationale as to one reason the left has given as to why they believe it is okay to treat Kavanaugh the way he was.

Another post was deleted discussing the number of SC justices, which in on topic because the appointment of Kavanugh will tilt the balance of the court to the right, and increasing the number of SC justices may negate that.

Both realistically are on topic because they speak to the root causes of the opposition to him.

2 whole entire posts deleted holy shit man ya the moderation is pretty fucking heavy I'd say...  It's like a fucking Nazi mod is running around unchecked in that section.

Sorry for my participation in the OT discussion.  You were right to remove those posts from that thread.

I started another topic in the "Off Topic" board, but on second thought maybe I should have put it in the "Politics & Society" board.  If you think it's necessary please move it.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5046236.0

I can't move it from OT to P&S but you can!  Feel free to move it back and have at the discussion fellas!

Just like Steamtyme above, I don't think you need to justify your actions before even a single complaint was made.

I didn't want to be accused of by the conspiracy folks of trying to censor the argument in "my" direction.

It's too late for that, I only browse through the P&S once in a while so I don't know what happens there but I've already seen you labeled as a Nazi at least once in Meta  Grin

PS, is that the topic started by Theymos or another one?

Ya it's theymos' topic.

I was really hoping to keep my pro nazi agenda hidden longer but the crowd in the P&S board are way to smart for me to fool them for long!  Roll Eyes

inb4 Godwin...

Nazi

Dang it, too late.

I had one post removed in the clean-up and deservedly so. Hellfish 2020.

Soro's paid me to do eet!
590  Other / Meta / Clean up of: Supreme Court pick Brett Kavanaugh on: October 08, 2018, 03:00:01 PM
Since I am sure someone will make a thread about the clean up I just did in the above thread I will state the reasons ahead of time!

If your post was deleted from that thread I went back over the last couple of pages to bring the thread back on topic.  I did not got back any further as it seems pointless now.  So don't show us old posts that are still there and OT.  I received reports about OT posts and did a clean up of all posts I thought were breaking the rules on BOTH sides of the argument.  The reports wanted one side of the argument removed for being OT but I had to make sure ALL OT and other infringements were addressed in the interest of fairness.

That being said, if you had a post deleted it was likely considered off topic or responding to an off topic post.  It may have been low/now value as well.

I didn't really moderate the thread much because I was involved in the debate and I didn't want to be accused by the conspiracy folks of trying to censor the argument in "my" direction.  But with so much multi-posting, article link posting and off topic in the last couple of pages a couple of reports came in from one side of the argument looking to have OT stuff removed.  As I started to look at the OT I found many posts on both sides OT and they were removed.

You guys are free to start another thread and re-post the deleted messages in a more appropriately titled thread.
591  Other / Meta / Re: Deleted Post on: October 08, 2018, 02:18:59 PM
If I have to explain every single link, source for individuals in post; they might as well remove the ability to embed URLs in text from the forum.

First and foremost a single link is not substantial or of any value.  It was removed because I considered it a low/no value post.

I don't click links on the forum as a general rule especially from unknown "hostile/aggressive" new posters.  I don't ever click links from trolls either (not saying you fit the troll category).

I also don't generally consider posting an entire article with a link at the bottom of it with 0 comments or a 1 line comment to be of much value.  I have not yet started to delete these kinds of posts yet but I am probably going to make a post about it asking people to stop doing it before I start deleting those kinds of posts.
592  Other / Politics & Society / Re: 2018 USA Mid Terms! Red or Blue Waves?!? on: October 08, 2018, 02:02:47 PM
Trump lies at republican rally by making up bogus name of bill...  Republicans eat this shit up are they not able to use something like google?

I can't ever remember a time when a President was so actively trying to create a division in his people.  What's also curious is that it is working extremely well and the Dems have not figured out a counter to it.

The gloating over the Kavanaugh victory while it appears to play really well with the GOP base show's very little class, generally the old saying of you should act like this isn't your first time in the end zone and you've been there many times before, shows some class... There is a big difference between celebrating and gloating!

I think the GOP base is fired right up over the SC win, and are hoping RBG "retires" and Trump will get them 6-3 the next holy grail!

It looks like a pretty easy thing for the Republicans to keep the senate and hell at this point I wouldn't even be surprised if the GOP kept the house as well.

I think the house and senate will stay Republican at this point.  Cool
593  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Supreme Court pick Brett Kavanaugh on: October 06, 2018, 05:12:02 PM
Add to that the WaPo Op Ed from the editorial board themselves urging senators to vote no on Kananaugh (something the Op Ed board has not done in over 30 years).
This is based on a tweet from Senator Hatch's office, however it bears repeating myself....

The Washington Post editorial board also had not blamed a hurricane until about 4 weeks ago, so it is a big month for the Washington Post's editorial board.

No the editorial board did not blame a hurricane on Trump.. An Op Ed by a cartoonist is not the Editorial Board's opinion like the Kavanaugh piece.

Of course you also ignore the contents of the article where it says Trump didn't create the actual fucking storm but his climate policies are making such storms worse.  I know reading comprehension is harder that pandering to actual titles but if you could try to be a little more factual in comparing apples to apples it would help you look a lot less stupid!

If you could show me where the editorial board has claimed president trump caused a hurricane that would help and be an actual comparison IF you disregard the meaning of the article and look simply at the title.
594  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Supreme Court pick Brett Kavanaugh on: October 06, 2018, 04:31:57 PM
...
But don't worry none of those people are even remotely close to being able to assess Kavanaugh's suitability as well as the legal Pundits like Quicksy and the HARD right that is over represented here in this board.

I won't worry.

But just in case I should worry, instead of pointing to 2200 nutty left wing professors signing a letter that they're nutty left wing....

Can you point to nutty legal opinions by Kav that shows he's unsuitable?

Does a man with 128 years experience  Wink, or in other words the single living person with the most experience ON THE Supreme Court count as a legal opinion?  And BTW this was a man who PREVIOUS to Kavanaughs testimony at the Ford hearing thought Kavanaugh was suited for the position.  After Kavanaughs temper tantrum former Justice Stevens and thousands of other legal professionals had a slightly different opinion.  So much of a different opinion that they did something NEVER done before LOL.

And last but possibly the most important is the opinion of the 3rd longest sitting Justice of the Supreme Court in the history of the USA.  A man who is arguably one of the single most experienced people alive with respect to the SC.  Sitting and retired SC Justices rarely if ever come out and state categorically a nomination should not be elevated, I don't know of it ever happening.

But of course I would agree you are far more qualified to assess his suitability.
595  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Supreme Court pick Brett Kavanaugh on: October 06, 2018, 04:20:42 PM
Hell, the supreme court's not even supposed to be partisan.

Ya and whats funny is nominations have been sunk because of WAY less of an appearance of a partisan bias.

The seats are too valuable politically to both parties and it is gotten worse over the years culminating in a nominee going so far over the line as to have a former SC Justice publicly declare for the first time EVER (AFAIK) the nominee unfit for the bench, THAT is a big deal and as unprecedented as Kavanaugh's temper tantrum.

Justice Kavanaugh's story is just beginning there are teams of investigative journalists doing what the FBI wasn't allowed to do. Those stories will come out in the months to come. If somehow this Kavanaugh show brings on a blue house and senate you can be confident that this will be scrutinized heavily and the possibility of bringing an impeachment proceeding against Kavanaugh is then real.

It's so odd for me as a Canadian because our conservative base would probably be considered as fairly liberal in the US.  We don't have the massive religious groups entrenched in our right wing party (or any party outside super fringe indy's).  My entire family is conservative to the bone and my brother is quite hard line (by Canadian standards LOL).  My wife and I are always the odd duck when politics come up, until 2016 hehe.  sometimes those political discussions after the Rye starts flowing can be pretty heated, one really heated debate my brother forgot to say sorry after drunkenly interrupting me, we didn't talk for almost 4 minutes!!!!  Thanks to Trump my family is entirely politically united for once in my entire life!
596  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Supreme Court pick Brett Kavanaugh on: October 06, 2018, 03:18:31 PM
It's pretty bad when industry overwhelmingly opposes something like this.
It's even more significant when you consider it is AFAIK an unprecedented move for the legal community to do something like this.  I guess this will make a nice little black list for Kavanaugh if any of those professional that signed the document ever come before the SC!

Add to that the WaPo Op Ed from the editorial board themselves urging senators to vote no on Kananaugh (something the Op Ed board has not done in over 30 years).

597  Other / Politics & Society / Re: 2018 USA Mid Terms! Red or Blue Waves?!? on: October 06, 2018, 01:00:25 PM
My predicted result is that the Republicans will only barely retain the Senate and will lose the House by a few dozen seats. I think that both sides will be disappointed at their performance, but it will be a moderate blue wave. I sense that most people are only slightly enthusiastic about the economy, and are worried about future tariffs and especially the future of healthcare.

I do think the economy is being overshadowed by so many other factors ATM and doesn't really appear to be a major issue for voters.

Now that we all but know the Kavanaugh outcome I am really curious if it will affect the MT's and how.  Historically the Thomas nomination would probably be the most similar case to look at.  Granted there aren't exact parallels but nothing ever is.

Thomas's vote was in 91 and the next elections weren't till 92 more than a year later.  That gave a lot of women the time to get into the senate race.  It also gave time for women to "stew" over the decision and time for investigative journalist to dig into the matter further.  None of which is happening before this MT.

Another big difference is the republican base, the Trump party is a far cry from the HW Bush party and Trump can rile up his base better than anyone.

I've seen a number of Pundits talking about the loser of the Kavanaugh fight will probably be the overall winner in the MT's and it may even play big into 2020.

The last and I think biggest difference between Thomas and Kavanaugh drama's is not in the facts or timing but the simple existence of social media.  In 91/92 it wasn't as simple as it is now for groups to connect, organize and spread information (good or bad!).  Trump is a master of social media and he just might be able to squash the enthusiasm of the left single handily because lets be honest the left isn't always the best organized!!

I think the left was already a little energized just from Trump and now I hope they will get more energized from Kavanaugh.

That being said, polls and history are indicating the house has a good chance of going blue but the senate I think might have just gotten a lot more interesting based on the right winning the Kavanaugh fight.  It's also fair to say the polls are almost entirely useless especially recently!!

600  Other / Politics & Society / 2018 USA Mid Terms! Red or Blue Waves?!? on: October 05, 2018, 04:33:50 PM
Well with all the political pundits among us and the Mid Terms rapidly approaching I am curious how everyone see the House and Senate races panning out.

It looks to me like the Senate will stay Red and they might just pick up a couple seats giving them some breathing room!  Looks like Hietkamp is underwater double digits so the red state might get that seat back (and shes a no on Kavanaugh which probably doesn't help her).  Manchin is another tight race where he has a small lead but his vote on the Kavanaugh nom might sway voters one way or the other.

I haven't been watching to many other senate races so feel free to tell us about any more!

The early polls had a blue house but the Kavanaugh show seems to have energized the republican base.  Will the base come down if Kavanaugh gets confirmed?  Will the base get fired up if Kavanaugh gets voted down?  The same question can be asked of the Dem base.  Do they get energized if Kavanaugh gets confirmed.  Do they cool off if he gets voted down or does Trumps antics with the Kavanaugh Circus give the dems enough energy regardless of the outcome on Kavanaugh?

It's pretty damn rare for a Presidents party to pick up house seats in the mid term, which voters are motivated enough pre and post Kavanaugh confirmation vote!
