61  Other / Meta / Re: Is it a forum bug? A copper member and stood at member rank wears avatar! on: March 12, 2019, 06:35:18 AM
I've PMed the owner of the account and seems like my first thought were correct. It's nice that the guy replied to my message kindly. Now it's all clear that he has been de-ranked to member and the avatar he is wearing are now cannot be changed or removed.

Here's what he said.
Hi,
it's all about the first time theymos gave the "Merit" system policy

last year's regulation if you want to use an avatar, you must have a Full Member, at least 120 activities / 120 posts

when I became a full member and already used an avatar, the "merit" policy was implemented, a few days later my activity / post was reduced (119/120) that made me trapped here, I should have been a full member and used an avatar.

I have tried to make a thread about the avatar problem that I use, I want to delete the avatar that I am currently using, but there is no serious response from theymos.

this is my thread :

I'm now getting too curious about it  Roll Eyes At first I thought that that account reached Full member before then he/she put an avatar and get de-ranked. But after looking at his/her profile, it seems impossible. Well, it's better to watch this topic for some answers.
63  Other / Meta / Re: Excuse me if this has been discussed before... why does the forum never change? on: March 10, 2019, 03:27:48 PM
The only problem I think that needs urgent change is the mobile version of this site. It's hard as fuck to read.  Shocked
How can you say so that it is hard to read it in mobile? I've been using mobile phone in browsing Bitcointalk for almost all of my time logged-in in here but I never experienced such thing. To be honest it's really handy and convenient. Are you having difficulties to read because the words are too snall in mobile? If yes then you can try to zoom it buddy.

You can try puffin browser, it's the best in browsing when the site does not support mobile version.
Actually there is no difference between other mobile browsers and puffin. I have tried different browsers before to access Bitcointalk but there are no difference. Anyway, puffin's interface is much better than chrome and the others.
64  Other / Meta / Re: Excuse me if this has been discussed before... why does the forum never change? on: March 10, 2019, 10:57:47 AM
Bitcointalk forum is a SMF (Simple Machine Forum) that's why you can see the UI so simple as it is not created to attract people by putting different kind of design on it. The main purpose of the forum is to connect people to each other in the digital world which is already happening as we can see. So, why do we need to make it more attractive if the main purpose is achieved?

Also, design is not too necessary. Why do we need any 2019 theme or anything and what's so bad in the current theme? If you would ask I love it than reddit. Simplicity is beauty (what other people used to say here).
65  Other / Meta / Re: Self made sr. member not being a pro in the cyrpto field ... on: March 10, 2019, 04:24:27 AM
Congrats bud, I gave you my last merit as you deserve it. Your story reminds me of my own story as well (even though I didn't wrote/posted it) because we're almost the same, I guess.

I've been here for some time and joined a lot of discussions but I'm not a crypto professional as well. I shared what I know and able to helped others back in 2018 where I spent my everyday visiting and reading discussions (days where I still have a lot of free time) here in Bitcointalk without being a crypto professional. Like what I said on this thread lately, we don't really need to be a crypto legend in order to join discussions and participate here in Bitcointalk, we just need to cooperate and understand each other, and you really are one best example of that person.

Congratulating you again buddy, ranking up from zero to Sr. Member is really a challenge but you still managed in time. Keep it up  Smiley

Edit.
I have also earned Hero potential merit but due activity I am still Sr. Member. Hope soon I will got my appropriate rank.
Activity isn't a problem  Tongue You're too lucky that you just need to wait for some time to rank up.
Anyway, I'm too disappointed that I didn't managed to monitor your Merits since we were at the same amount of Merits before? Tongue (if I'm not mistaken as I become inactive for a long time). But besides, congratulating you in advance as hero member, I'm afraid that I might missed that day due to busyness  Grin
66  Other / Meta / Re: ✔️ GREEN THEME/STYLE for Bitcointalk.org | 2019 on: March 08, 2019, 11:38:16 AM
<snip>
I agree. I thought it would be nice but after looking at the image from the link above, it doesn't look good and seems so unpleasant in the eyes.

Why not opt fot dark mode that would fare better with the community?
There are already lot of dark themes/modes of Bitcointalk that has been created long time ago (try to search it in the search bar of the forum), so it’s no need for another one but it's still up to OP.
67  Other / Meta / Re: This users email address changed on: March 05, 2019, 03:50:36 PM
For a month? As a month passed and it's still on my many accounts. Angry
So you have multiple accounts then? Can put the profile link of those accounts in this thread and verify that those are really yours. I just wanted to test something  Smiley also maybe I can answer your question  Grin
68  Other / Meta / Re: Potential forum exploit using Google Docs on: March 05, 2019, 03:30:06 PM
I've never received email from Bitcointalk forum that includes an attachment like that, hmm it's kinda strange. But who knows if its normal? Anyway, is that attachment some sort of spreadsheet? DMD 4th Year S? Is it "Student"?

Edit.
Oh letter S stands for "Silvercoin". I found it out after looking at this spreadsheet (which seems like a normal spreadsheet) https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1c3sZBd36Ln-ulEY4xFuu4RF9SyT-_jUykeJNMSYYwow/htmlview in this thread [WTS] ultra rare only 99 pieces existing 3oz gold plated silvercoin
69  Other / Meta / Re: It is extremely hard to gain merits on: March 05, 2019, 02:58:59 PM
There's no need to worry about Merits, worrying about how to get one will just stress you out. Actually getting Merits isn't too hard. By simply making good contributions for the forum will do the trick. The main problem why other people complains why they can't receive any Merits is because of their nonsense posts. It's been year already since Merit System were introduced but it seems like there are still a lot of people who are against with it.

I'm a full member when Merit system were launched which I had 100 Merits as default and look, I've managed to reach Sr. Member rank. See? The truth is I don't really have enough knowledge about crypto world as a student. As I experienced of being here in this forum, I've realised that this forum isn't just about crypto world, it is also about making new friends and helping each other and my proofs are,
1. Helping each other by reporting spammers- is reporting spammers related about Cryptocurrencies? It's not isn't?
2. Contributing about the betterment of the forum - it's not a crypto related thing as well isn't?
And etc...
all you need is to understand, contribute, and cooperate and you will earn what you deserve. Now, let's get back to the main topic. You don't need to make post like this for other people to notice you if you knew to yourself that you can do good things for the forum. Lot of members already proved that theory. Just sharing these thoughts of mine.
70  Other / Meta / Re: [Feature request] Chat box in bitcointalk on: March 02, 2019, 11:36:55 AM
Quote from: hugeblack

Or it may be full of ref links, spam, and more work for managers.
That's for sure, that chatbox will just become another source of problem because of spams.

Anyway, having chatbox (which has been discussed before, even before I became inactive months ago) is not too necessary. The forum's purpose is to give people and crypto user a chance to discuss different kind of topics about cryptocurrencies which is already happening as we can see. We just can't prevent other people from abusing the forum. So, having a chatbox in my opinion is not too useful. No one will even get to read your message because there are hundreds or thousands of messages that will be sent in a second.
71  Other / Meta / Re: How forum members can help each other. on: February 27, 2019, 11:16:33 PM
Helping other members is not a difficult task as long as you can do something to help them, but sometimes the problem is "how they cooperate". Because in a big world like this, we won't achieve anything without helping each other or teamwork, just look what this forum achieved right now, teamwork is behind all of it. Maintaining of peace is teamwork, organising the forum? also teamwork and even reporting bunch of spammers is called teamwork. In the future, even though some people hates other people, they will just end up helping each other. But we can't disregard that some people are too abusive to those who wanted to help so we should still be so careful. Just my thoughts.

at the end of day we are all humans and sometimes end up facing different challenges like depression.

Not totally correct we got some bots in their numbers on the forum,  Grin

But still, I bet that those owners of those bot accounts are still feeling depressed  Grin
72  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Crypto In The Phillipines Doesn't Have Any Progress on: January 08, 2019, 10:59:33 AM
As I observed, since the price of Bitcoin keeps falling these last few months, people really loses interest (most of all are Filipinos, I guess). We all know Filipino's attitude so well, they easily give up when they think it's not worth it. Plus, new cryptocurrencies from our country caught other Filipino's interest that made them to choose it that Bitcoin and I'm sure that other new cryptocurrency will keep rising.

Actually, it's been years since the Bitcoin was introduced but there are still some people that believes Bitcoin is some sort of "scam" or "fraud". I can tell it because I knew some people from here.

Anyway, I'm just wondering how can you say that the users here are declining here in the Philippines? Have you measured the number of interactions here or something? I just want concrete evidence of that because I'm curious also.
I'm also wondering about the same question. What's your basis OP? Well, my guess is, members from our country reduces because most of them are being reported as spammers (those twitbook spammers) and getting banned.
73  Other / Meta / Re: Happy 10th birthday, Bitcoin! on: January 07, 2019, 06:19:34 PM
Seems like I missed the party  Smiley
74  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Need Suggestions to Make the BOUNTIES Better. on: January 07, 2019, 06:14:41 PM
I don't really think that this discussion fits in here  Roll Eyes
Maybe you could try moving it somewhere else where the topic fits its section.

Anyway, about that idea of yours, it is not really that bad and it depends on you on how you run your campaign. If you think that that strategy will decrease spam then why don't you try it? Just saying.
75  Other / Meta / Re: I do not remember the password and email on: November 18, 2018, 04:43:33 PM

Are you really trying to help or just trolling around here?  Well, it's pretty obvious that you're doing the latter one Roll Eyes. Dude, if you can't understand what OP's saying and will just contribute nonsense things then better to avoid replying at all. This kind of posts are not healthy for our forum.
Actually he's not trolling Buddy, by reading his post first, he already gave what OP were looking for (it's the email).

good afternoon, I bought and you have skunk sp mod, please send mod 8 to mail strannik951159@gmail.com, access to the account on the forum is lost.
76  Other / Off-topic / Re: Let's aid the not so fluent in English on: November 18, 2018, 04:32:00 PM
Lack of knowledge in writing or speaking English cannot be solve, I mean it can be solved but it depends on the person. As we can see, although English is the main language used here, there are still some people who can't speak English fluently and can't even bother to improve their English vocabulary as they only seeks for money. In this forum, those who were only interested to learn are the ones who improves. That's why it is not too necessary to force them to learn, they will do it by themselves if they really want to. Also, there are already a lot of threads and links here that might help them, the only problem is their laziness. Fittotalk project was always and already been there for those people who wanted to learn but as I observed since the time I joined Ftt, there are only few people who were interested in learning English. Most of the people here are only here for the sake of money (I assumed). Those are the bunches of spammers and twitbook spammers.

However, it's been a long time since I last visited Bitcointalk, I wonder if these spammers already decreased by time.
77  Other / Meta / Re: Question about a banned account on: October 26, 2018, 03:33:57 PM
Is it really your colleague's account? Or an alt account of yours? Nice finding xtraelv. Then this guy is just pretending not to know the reason why his account were banned for the first place hoping of un-banning it. Not a chance bud. You and your alts will be banned later on as well and that's for sure, I can't believe that I'll be forced to post in such lowly thread after being AFK for about two weeks  Grin Can't resist.
If only meta is not full of "I got banned, she got banned" posts. There should be sub forum for the banned posts too. There is a lot more to discuss about this forum than getting ban and struggling for merits.
We've discussed a lot about that before as far as I remember, but seems like there are too many disagreed members so there's no luck at implementing it.

79  Local / Others (Pilipinas) / Re: Mag Ingat Sa Mga Facebook Scam on: October 11, 2018, 03:08:48 PM
I've seen a lot of this possible scam posts in Facebook recently and they are often posted in groups. I think posts like this should be reported to the administrators of the group to take some actions. These are obviously fraud so it means it is "illegal".

Just a suggestion guys, if ever that you saw posts like these and you confirmed that it is a scam. Don't hesitate to report the post in the Admin.

~snip
That is somehow true, because of lack of knowledge. People were really desperate to try anything as long as they know that they can earn money without even worrying if it is safe or not. They are being fooled by their foolishness.
80  Other / Meta / Re: Im have been banned by a forum moderator. on: October 11, 2018, 02:54:51 PM
I participate in many forums, but in order to get a permanent ban you have to try very hard with repeated violations with a warning from the administration. I have not received any warnings before, I think it is not correct.
Well then, don't think that this forum were the same from those forums you were talking about. This is Bitcointalk bud, the future of cryptocurrencies really depends in here, this is not like "Guides and helpful tutorial forums" that we can see in the internet. Also, you're really expecting to receive a warning message as you knew to yourself that you are violating the rules isn't? Well, your question has been answered, the reason of the banned were identified so, what are you waiting for? There's no point to keep any discussions here and your are permanently banned from this forum which means you are not allowed to create an account again or even post again. Sorry for the loss but that's how things work here.
