61  Economy / Lending / Re: A list of defaulted loans (list of scammers inside here) on: September 29, 2012, 03:05:47 AM
new scammer has emerged:

known aliases: dragonx cecil Bitman dknys dkny toocool ezekiell ninjaD ninjaA. New Names include: thetruthx, btchips, databits, jsmoothbtc

He is constantly making new nicks.  This is why people need to use gettrust, not getrating when deciding to trade with people.

Are you still paying interest on outstanding balances?  If so, how often?

He quite literally just answered this question:

I noticed that you're still paying interest to the accounts.

Perhaps you should consider lowering it to 0.5% weekly as opposed to 1%.

Currently 0.25% per week.

64  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Foundation Membership on: September 27, 2012, 05:27:32 PM
Miners don't need representation in the foundation, other than support Gavin and make the bitcoin economy stronger. Miners can reject or accept any blocks they want.

That is absurd.  While I agree that miners essentially have a approve/veto type status, they should be engaged before it gets that far.

Which was it supposed to be ?

For the record, I was being truthful.....NO sarcasm.

Corrected.
67  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: The pirate and the SEC - Alleged e-mails. on: September 27, 2012, 12:31:30 AM
I don't think that it's fair to simply call all 'banks' or savings plans that exist on the forum, an outright scam or cancer.
There are still a few honest guys that do a decent job of transparent lending/savings plans etc, so I would like to think that there is still a future for some of them.

The unfortunate fact of the matter is, most of the recent 'problems', are all tied to a single entity and the exposure that people had to it.

At the end of the day, some of these so-called 'Cancers' stand to lose far more than many average users combined, if a certain defaulted 'bank' does not repay, especially those who are currently going 'out of pocket' to repay their own Investors, even though the bulk of their funds are still missing currently.

This has been a huge lesson learned, for alot of people.

I still have high regards for those who are currently moving forward (perhaps operating 'with a limp') and repaying their Investors (even contrary to the terms that the Investors originally agreed to, ie. Default = 100% loss, no insurance...etc).

The past 6 Weeks has been a constant Witch Hunt and has ruined the reputations of more respected forum members than it should have.

either you're sick and or that's the best sarcasm I've ever seen from you.
68  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Got off the phone with the Guy from the S.E.C on: September 25, 2012, 03:16:51 AM
Well looking quickly, the SEC does investigate and prosecute ponzi schemes. I thought that would be the FBI's department (fraud).

The SEC is responsible for civil litigation of securities fraud.

The following organizations are responsible for criminal enforcement of fraud :

Department of Justice Federal Bureau of Investigation
United States Postal Inspection Services
Internal Revenue Service Criminal Investigation Division
United States Secret Service

You forgot the US Attorney's Office.  They've been extremely prominent in past ponzi prosecutions.

Which just so happens to be his former employer.

To date, I haven't received one of these emails.

When can we expect payouts?

I have been mining for 3 weeks and have received nothing as of this morning.....

They're usually every Monday at ~2PM PDT.  You should probably contact Mike directly to make sure they've got the right payment address.

Since my cryptography apparently failed, I'll say this should be relatively easy.  "Ignore" invokes a handler, which could also PM the author with "your post #23123123 sucks!"  I can do the correlation myself.

But pm spam!  Do you really want to get notifications everytime someone takes you off ignore, reads your post, then reignores you?  Holy false positives, Batman!

It would give theymos something to read?

72  Economy / Services / Re: GPUMAX | The Bitcoin Mining Marketplace on: September 23, 2012, 05:21:55 PM
Has there been any further clarification in IRC about any ownership changes for GPUMAX and whether Trendon is still an owner or involved with GPUMAX?

No, not that I've seen.

74  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: "Avalon" ASIC, announcement & pre-order start. VERY important notice updated on: September 23, 2012, 06:18:07 AM
There's no chance of increasing the number of preorders from 300 to say 500, is there?

They can't even increase the number of webservers from 0 to 1 at the moment.

Is there any way to reserve a unit without paying attention to this thread for the next 24 hours? Please reserve one for me. This is my place holder. You ok with that?

79  Other / Off-topic / Re: Hi, my name is Sonny Vleisides on: September 21, 2012, 03:02:49 PM
Meh, this community is full of an amazing amount of dicks.

In Sonnys case I can only go by my own experience.

People said the same thing about Pirate.  In short, if its too good to be true.. it probably is.

Let people talk. My singles run fine since day one.

Yeah, pirate's payments continued from day one too.. until they didn't.

Have you considered the possibility that most of the people read the first few posts describing the situation, read Sonny's reply, made up their own mind, and are simply keeping quiet, because, aside from the initial investigation documents and Sonny's reply, there is absolutely nothing more to add other than baseless speculations? Have you considered that everyone here IS actually as smart as you, figured all the things you mentioned on their own already, and aside from the factual info already given, most people just don't give a crap?

You should talk to Micon.  That same argument was used in the past and dismissed.  Sorry.
80  Economy / Securities / Re: [GLBSE] ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: September 19, 2012, 06:20:15 PM

Euro 230v seems to be 20a sockets the same as the average American home has 120v 15a.

New US homes all have 120v 20a since about the 70s.

I've never seen 20a installed anywhere here in the US unless it was specifically requested... unless everyone has been installing 20a circuits and not installing the 20a plugs with the T shaped blade (NEMA 5-20) to go with them.

I guess it must be a local thing.
