341  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: How could Pirate fuck your brains so well that even now many believe in him? on: August 26, 2012, 11:38:46 PM
Taken just this moment in #btcst IRC.

That's the last time he publicly spoke in the channel as pirateat40 that gribble saw.  In addition, gribble was queried in private by matthew and the copy/paste has no timedate.
342  Economy / Speculation / Re: A Theory on what pirateat40 is doing on: August 26, 2012, 11:36:52 PM
so is it official yet? has anyone heard a peep from pirate since friday?

He's been in and out of IRC changing names between pirateat40 and steamship. It's bizarre really. When he's "steamship" he's been offering to buy pirate debt at reduced rates. No idea if he's serious.

That wasn't the real pirateat40. That pirateat40 (and steamship) did not have the OP prefix (@) in front of their nick. In addition, both @pirateat40 and pirateat40 were in the channel at the same time. It's likely he used an invisible character or typo to change his name to pirateat40. He was also clearly a troll. Can't believe everything you see, and then take it at face value.

You need to learn more about irc.  There cannot be two people with the same nick on the network.  He didn't have @ because it can be given/taken away like nothing.  As to the sarcasm from steamship.. that's true.  Many of the comments from steamship are actually things that were said on the forums by others first, with steamship repeating them and then getting quoted on it back on the forums again.

If you've only got 6 pcie slots, stick with that.  If you had a board with 8, they make molex to pcie6/8 connectors.
344  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Looking for pictures of an 8 GPU setup on: August 26, 2012, 11:07:06 PM
like the title says, I need to see a picture of two of an 8 GPU setup. I have enough cards and PS is big enough but I can only connect 4 x 6870 to a 1200w PS. Reason being that on the 6870 and 5830 they have 2 - 6pin plugs to provide power to gpu(not dual gpu cards) and the PS I have has 2 - 6pin to dual8(6+2) and 4 - 6pin to 6pin connectors and the cards require both plugs to provide power to GPU. I got 2 - 6pin to dual8(6+2) from a fellow member and can hook up 6 x 5830.

To hook 8 GPU up I need 2 more of those plugs correct?
And where do you plug in the extra GPU's? get a PCI to PCI-e riser? Powered or non-powered?

Again that is why I would like to see some pics of the 8 GPU rigs, Maybe take a shot of the risers connecting to MB and a shot of the PS cables to the GPU's If anyone could help out, it would be greatly appreciated.

The short answer is that you use 2 psus.
345  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: The gauntlet has officially been thrown down by Trendon Shavers aka. pirateat40 on: August 26, 2012, 10:49:56 PM

Holy shit do you cross post like a fudster.  Why does every thread need a link to it?  If its really that important, people will find it regardless.
346  Bitcoin / Hardware / [Archive] BFL trolling museum on: August 26, 2012, 08:41:47 PM
Does it bother you that CPU's two years ago were not as fast as CPU's today and they cost more 2 years ago?
I'm actually surprised that it doesn't bother people that few will make any profit on their BFL FPGAs and then they must all double their money they give to BFL before they reach that profit mark and start again ... due to BFL themselves.

What choice is there?  If a person doesn't do it, someone else will and then they are left behind.

348  Economy / Long-term offers / Re: [POLL] How will Pirateat40's debt repayment unfold? on: August 26, 2012, 05:45:32 PM
In my book it's over until something new happens.

then by that definition, it will never be actually over.

It depends on which scenario a person is referring to.

Yes. Free key expires for 90 days. Paid keys last forever. I sell paid keys. Just as imsaguy pointed out
is there a way to know that your keys are paid? Because it will suck if someone bought your keys, and found out that they were free 90 days later. by that time, you probably could have run away.

Generally, the trial keys will indicate that much.

I'm not trying to defend softwareseller, just making sure the info presented from both sides is legit.

Looks like the image has been removed. Also, Pirate was last seen about an hour ago on this plank board.

~Bruno~

The last post on 'this plank board'   was almost a month ago, not an hour.

The forum keeps track of when it last sees you looking at a post while signed in.  So you can be 'seen' without posting.  Its a bit different than the irc seen.

The binary was coming out of the wallet if I'm not mistaken, not going in,
which means its most likely not a mtgox storage wallet.

The binary message was going in to the wallet. This could be verified in about a second. Are you purposefully trying to mislead people?

No, I was working off memory, I didn't have the address url handy when posting, which is why I put the disclaimer.  In the very next statement I said we should ask gox, so relax, I'm after the truth like everyone else.
353  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Can you run 5 GPU's on Windows 7 x64??? on: August 26, 2012, 03:43:47 AM
yeah sorry "guy" I was only referring to single GPU cards, and the added expense of buying those expensive cards! easier to plug in 4 dual cards than it is to actually get 8 cards on a single board. and ya gotta give props to anyone who takes the time to get a 8 card setup running, Win or *nix.

Use risers and its pretty easy Wink
354  Economy / Goods / Re: [WTS]Cheap Windows 7&8 and MS Office key from MSDN on: August 26, 2012, 03:42:59 AM
Thanks for giving more feedbacks. Many of my customers bought windows 7 key rather than windows 8 key. As far as I know, no one complaints to me that their windows 7 has expired.

The 7 keys won't expire just because Windows 8 is out.

True.  But Windows 7 pre-release keys did expire sometime after the Windows 7 launch.  Same will happen with Windows 8 pre-release.

The keys listed on msdn paid subscriptions are for RTM Win 7 and RTM Win 8 so that you can setup a lab indefinitely and test things.  There are no expiration so long as the keys don't get blocked for being shared, etc.

u know that makes a helluvalot more sense?

I guess the .01337 + the binary in-wallet spam is just ppl lulzish-ly sending coins to it to spell something?  if it's the Gox cold wallet why did it only start accumulating balance this year?

The binary was coming out of the wallet if I'm not mistaken, not going in, which means its most likely not a mtgox storage wallet.

If we really want to know for certain, it'd be best to just ask MagicalTux vs everyone speculating on it.  There could be many reason why Gox could want to fire up a new storage address.  or it could not be them at all.  Let's have MTux confirm/deny.
357  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Can you run 5 GPU's on Windows 7 x64??? on: August 26, 2012, 02:33:04 AM
yeah 8 gpu can be used at once but not many boards will ALLOW you to use 8 gpus. Got 890-gd70 and can only use 5 of the 6 PCI-e slots, it turns off a 1x slot if PCI 1 and PCI 3 are populated.

If you're going to go for 8, you're going to want 4x dual gpu cards.
358  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Can you run 5 GPU's on Windows 7 x64??? on: August 25, 2012, 09:46:37 PM
Nice... this board has 6... curious if I could get 6 cards running on it .

x64 will do up to 8 gpu cores.
359  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Can you run 5 GPU's on Windows 7 x64??? on: August 25, 2012, 07:45:07 PM
What you need is

Windows 7 x64
11.xx drivers

12.x drivers don't support more than 4 GPUs.

odd, since I have 5 running on 12.6 and win7 64.

That's a change then.  I can confirm that 12.1, 12.2 both BSOD.  They must have fixed it in later versions.

If you want to go another 500BTC in, I'm game ^_^

Serious question:
How are you going to fund >$100k in bets if you lose?

It isn't $100k in bets, its BTC.  Until you convert, it has no USD value.
Roll Eyes

How do you know he didn't acquire them when bitcoin was pennies?  To make a huge deal of it because its workworth $100k today with no lock until a person does something with it is a bit.. short sighted.
