It's getting clearer and clearer that he sold off most of the BTCST Bitcoins long ago. He just doesn't have them. If he does pay, it will only be seen as a large purchase on the market.
Oh, you mean like the sudden rise in price the last day?

I guess that means we keep posting the same stuff over and over now.
Hilarious coming from you. Exactly! I'm glad you picked up on it.

Oh it's a 'known' ponzi now? That's a refreshing change from your usual posts. By all means though, continue to deflect the heat onto your customers if you don't like the questions being asked. Thats why its in quotes. I get crap for not acknowledging it was an obvious ponzi. I only raise Theymos' request because I think it indicates perhaps maybe it wasn't such an obvious ponzi as some would have you believe.

|
|
That is an interesting thought. If it was so obvious that Pirate was a ponzi, why did Theymos want in? and so late in the game besides?
Theymos ONLY wanted into an insured portion of the fund.People should not get the wrong idea and rather do their due diligence or ask him directly. Insured or not, willing participating in a 'known' ponzi is certainly immoral and most likely illegal. If nothing else, his request for the insured PPT is what blew up the PPT market. Before then, there were very few, I think 1 actually.

Seems to me that all those that set up Pirate pass-thrus investments were very clear about what they were. If they were trying to hide the fact that they were Pirate pass-thrus then that would be suspicious, but otherwise I can't see any reason to place blame on them.
Yeah, pretty soon P4man and Vlad are going to go after GLBSE for letting it happen. Theymos asking for it to be set up on GLBSE and him being a large stock holder! Oh my! That is an interesting thought. If it was so obvious that Pirate was a ponzi, why did Theymos want in? and so late in the game besides?

It was voluntarily given to him with the condition that he return it with interest. If he was running a scam, he never intended to return it. That means he lied to everyone, and he broke the conditions of lending.
As much as it literally FUCKING KILLS me to point this out ( and the 'sockpuppet' backlash I will take for it) 1) He has stuck around, saying he will make it right. 2) Trading Volume makes things look promising over the last couple days. 3) Heat has been felt, as the suppression of certain 'online' info has begun. Do I believe I will get my account closed on time or at all ? WHO KNOWS.Have I had contingencies in place in case of this ? YES.Am I prepared to risk a $25k+ 'investment' to see this through ? FUCKING RIGHTS.With the above in mind, I will be happy to see my balance credited to me properly, as agreed and will refrain from further pursuit in the matter. Anyone that claims you are a sockpuppet for pirate should be slapped.

YES, HE DEFAULTED. YOU ARE SCREWED.
Phew, I'm glad that's settled. I guess that means we keep posting the same stuff over and over now.

what does have me wondering is why did pirates website and pirates dads website go down? very odd...
Maybe odd, maybe not. I'm not clear which site was his dad's? Without knowing that though, from what I have seen, it was likely just hosted on the same VS and that got cut off. And or Trendon was managing or responsible for the site and cut it..? or perhaps some asshat decided a ddos would be an appropriate course of action for righting their perceived wrong?
|
|
|
What's creepy about getting scammed and wanting retribution?
Retribution is not going after someone's family who probably has no idea what the hell their idiot brother or son did. Then why did his dads website go down as well? At the same time mind you. Perhaps ddos or hacked? or perhaps his son operated his dad's website for him. You can't just assume.

Why are you so defensive about a a possible scammer getting all his dox handed over to the party van ?
These guys will make the police job a lot easier with what they dig up if something nefarious is going on.
Because what if you're wrong? There's a reason we have law enforcement.

if he was a scammer i'm pretty sure he would have taken the bitcoins and went to enjoy life instead of getting flamed on irc and forums 24/7..
He doesn't get flamed on IRC. He has his own channel where sycophantic mods kick anyone who is remotely critical. Spend more time there, there's quite a bit said in the negative. There's a right way to be critical and there's a wrong way. Some people forget that.

I predict anyone in that photo in vegas with pirate will have some explaining to do if it blows.
How does meeting someone in person make them responsible for their business?
|
|
|
I'm somewhat muted by the personal attacks How weak is that? He steals thousands of dollars and expects everyone to keep kissing his ass! lol way to trim off the bit about the legal attacks.

[2012/08/26 19:03:35] <pirateat40> I'd just like to say, I never expected all this madness when I shutdown BS&T. It's been a lot more work than I could have even thought and I simply messed up. In hindsight, I shouldn't have stopped things so suddenly. Although it was nice to finally get some sleep, things have been spiraling out of control this week and pushing my personal deadlines.
[2012/08/26 19:06:09] <pirateat40> At this point and in an attempt to stop the bleeding (interest) I'm going to be forced to payout everyone at once, which I'm sure will piss off enough people to counter the lack of payouts but I don't see any other way of handling this.
[2012/08/26 19:09:47] <pirateat40> My concern is not "winning" the bet as much as it is "donating" the winnings. With the events of this week causing delays, 5K worth of coins is a piece of sand compared to the amount of money I'm losing every hour.
[2012/08/26 19:13:46] <pirateat40> I'm doing everything in my power within the contracts of the "Real World" to get things moving as fast as possible. If, I end up losing the bets and spending everything I worked for to make things right I will. I will not be giving any additional times or dates until I know exactly when things will happen.
[2012/08/26 19:17:40] <@pirateat40> I know you guys want updates and communication, but I'm somewhat muted by the personal attacks and legalities of whats going on. There is a lot more to this story than just "Send me back my coins." If I had all the coins just sitting around I would've has this wrapped up a long time ago.

It doesn't work like that. You might think the Jalapeno is worth BTC90, but I can't see anyone else seeing it that way. At BTC90 you would likely never make your money back.
1) The reward drop will likely be less than two months from the date you get it with the sudden speeding up the the network causing the difficulty retargets to lag the blocks found, but that's best case assuming BFL gets these into people's hands third week of October.
2) The person who buys this from you would get it online after all the other North American first day orders have already got theirs, so they won't get nearly as much low difficulty time as others.
If difficulty only doubles with that first batch and never again increases, you'll be making BTC0.7/day before the reward drop. In that case, you would earn BTC42 before the block reward halving. After that you'd make BTC0.35/day. It would then take another 137 days to finish paying off the BTC90 you spent.
In this extremely unlikely best case scenario, it would take 200 days to make back your investment. Much more likely is that you would never recoup your BTC90.
During that next 137-200 days, difficulty will only continue to go up as the rest of the asic orders ship so it will extend that even further.
