61  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Enjoy being a newbie on: May 05, 2024, 09:56:08 AM
One more thing, newbies will have to learn to take negative criticism because that will eventually make them stronger. Don't take criticism personally and try to learn from it and you will see yourself growing in the long run.

I agree because we can often see newbies being extra emotional and sensitive like they are children who expect a lot of care from us and as soon as one of us scolds them a little bit about a mistake, they start crying as to why they were scolded even if they have made a mistake, we should have made them understand with love. Such people need to understand that sometimes it becomes necessary for elders to do that to make the children understand that a certain thing shouldn't be done again because if it's done again, they will be scolded or beaten for it.

Not every single member of this forum may start showing so much love and affection towards newbies that they should never use a single harsh word towards them even if they are making mistakes again and again, so newbies need to understand that they need to learn and improve if they don't want to face such things. If you are a newbie, you stay in the forum for as long as 2 years, and you still remain a newbie while having none of your concepts clear about anything, you can't expect members to entertain basic questions from you because you have had enough time to learn everything.
62  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Should crypto have a 'savings account' option? on: May 05, 2024, 09:42:26 AM
If by 'crypto avenues' you mean cryptocurrency exchanges, then they do have savings plans for you to deposit your cryptocurrencies and get a certain percentage of APY or APR based on the coin or token you are using and their decided percentage of APY. As far as I know, every single centralized exchange has this feature including Binance, OKX, Bitget, Coinbase, and every other exchange you can find and think about.

A lot of people use this feature but they mostly use stable coins because they don't lose or gain value and the commission earned will have the same value throughout them having their coins staked. Saving or staking unstable coins, especially altcoins, can be a risky move because you never know what might happen to them, and if you have your coins or tokens locked when their price is crashing, you won't be able to sell them quickly.

So there are actually more cons than pros to it, and most importantly, you won't be holding your cryptocurrencies which is completely against the fact of having self-custody of your money. You could be using fiat and utilizing the bank for the same purpose, what's the point of being in cryptocurrencies then?
63  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do not get discouraged by the current price of Bitcoin on: May 05, 2024, 09:26:40 AM
And I think, too, that this correction is not over; it is deeper, and I really think its depth is around 41–52k $ each of.Bitcoin, so its congestion is long-lasting. The trip will now.

If you are constantly watching the market, you will see that it has already recovered a bit from that dip and is currently trading above $63k, so there is no sign for it to go as deep as $52k or lower. This coming week will show where the price will move next, investors will need to be quick with their decisions.

Since Bitcoin was first created until now, it has been proven by research and recognized by great people who have high IQs in accordance with reality. It's not wrong if we think it's just a waste of energy like in my first paragraph above to convince the stupid thoughts of one person who decided Bitcoin was a fraud.

There is no point in making someone understand or convincing them that Bitcoin isn't something bad. You don't get anything out of that, whether they accept the reality and embrace it with open arms or willingly close their eyes and say they can't see anything, none of that is going to affect you or Bitcoin, so just let them be with their thoughts and decisions.
64  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: After Joining as a beginner what keeps you going on this forum? on: May 04, 2024, 11:07:10 AM
As a beginner or first timer on a forum like this it's not Always easy to keep up actively with the activities of the forum, we all can attest to that

I never found any difficulties with that because my aim was clear, I needed to learn as much as I could about this industry which kept me interested and intrigued at all times as a newbie.

we can also attest to the fact that at a point we felt like giving up, most times the activities of the day gets you exhausted that you won't even have time to handle your phone to either read, do research or make post especially at the beginning stage when the merits is not coming,

Why would one feel like giving up? Are you on a mission here? You shouldn't be chasing merits or ranks if your aim behind joining the forum isn't earning money, and if that is your aim, you don't need to twist the words and say it clearly, and that should be enough motivation for you.

1. Hunger for crypto knowledge:   it takes only determination and the Hunger to be knowledgeable to get a user so active on this crypto space, because every minute you don't come online to see what's happening on the forum it will look like you are missing something, and u will be restless untill you come online.

See? You are contradicting yourself. First, you said sometimes you feel like giving up because your posts aren't getting merits, and then you are saying hunger for knowledge keeps you going. Why would getting no merits make you feel like giving up when you are here to feed your hunger for knowledge?

2. Looking at the bigger picture:  if you are interested in growing on this space then that should be an extra motivation to you to keep putting in the hardwork and looking at the future.

Let me tell you, if you are interested in growing in this space/forum, don't worry too much about merits because that will cloud your thoughts. Focus on learning, the more you learn, the better your posts will be, and the better your posts will be, the more merits you will get.

It relates to scamshipping, as far as I can understand.  Smiley
66  Other / Meta / Re: Suggestion for new information in poster info on: May 04, 2024, 06:59:56 AM
It could be useful for other forum members, but would that stop newbies from replying to such threads? I don't think so.

Most often, newbies don't even read the opening post, they rush to the last page of the topic and find something to write about what others have written on that page. So even though I think this can be a good addition for members who care about such things, this wouldn't necessarily solve the issue you have mentioned.

And, I think instead of writing "Inactive for xx days!" around the post starter, it should say something like, "Latest activity: [date]" or something like that because most of the time, people don't abandon their accounts but they abandon the threads they have started while staying active around the forum.
67  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Does it mean the poor can't breath anymore? on: May 04, 2024, 06:51:23 AM
You are asking people to correct newbies without hate words and you are trying to correct them with foul and aggressive words yourself. How does that make your post sound good when you aren't even listening to yourself? They say, to preach what you practice, so if you are not using decent words to make others understand a point, you can't expect them to do the same with others. We need to be following something ourselves before we ask others to do the same.

It's annoying but many people do it. You will see them correcting others about something they do themselves, and sometimes, some people would not let a person do a certain thing only so that they can do it themselves which is cunning but unethical, I guess.

There are a lot of things that happen around us that we might not like seeing or they might make us feel uncomfortable, but ancient people used to say that when you point a finger towards someone, the remaining four fingers point at you, which means that before you start finding mistakes in others or rectifying them on everything they do, make sure you are not making those mistakes yourself.

I understand OP's notion, but evidently, his choice of words is not nice, and anyone reading his post would think they are being cursed and some might not take that very well.
68  Economy / Economics / Re: Personal Financial Goals vs Government expectations! on: May 04, 2024, 06:36:06 AM
This is not just for the middle class, do you think the elite or the rich don't go grocery shopping, buy medicine, or get their treatments done from medical facilities within the country? They do, and as you said, all these things have inclusive taxes that go to the government, and there is no way for anyone to avoid that because when you buy something to get a service provider to do something for you, they charge you more than what they need for their work or the product being sold because they have to pay taxes on its sale as well.

Anyone literate enough to understand simple economics would know this happens and that we pay taxes on almost anything starting from our salaries to our purchases. In some countries, cryptocurrencies are not regulated which makes it tax-free when you are earning cryptocurrencies and not declaring it because there might not be any clear law about it, but in countries where there are regulations about it, even cryptocurrency transactions are taxed.

So, it's something we have to live with, unfortunately.
69  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin ETF good or bad? on: May 04, 2024, 05:27:27 AM
They will surely increase the acceptance rate because companies such as Blackrock that have their ETFs approved will have a lot of customers making investments with them which is the reason why these companies have bought so many Bitcoins recently. The customers these companies get or have are the ones who are always doubtful about Bitcoin and its existence but are also willing to invest in it. So instead of buying Bitcoin directly, they make their investments through these companies. So when it comes to acceptance, I also believe that ETFs will increase that in the future.

When it comes to the government and control, ETFs are not always under the control of the governments, but it is true that it is a centralized mode of investment which means that you are giving away your personal information to a private and centralized company which isn't the case if you are investing in Bitcoin directly and buying through a decentralized platform such as Bisq.
70  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Accumulating Bitcoin or trading Bitcoin which is more wise to do. on: May 03, 2024, 08:29:00 PM
One can do both, there is no restriction as long as one can afford it.

If I'm a trader, and I'm constantly trading Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies and earning good profits from it, I would be able to accumulate and hold some of it as well for the long-term because I will have enough funds to do that, and it wouldn't affect my trading activities.

Those who are not day trading because they don't have a budget for it, and only get a small amount to spare each month or so, accumulating and holding is probably the best option for them because you can't start day trading with a low budget as the profits won't be worth the time spent on it.
71  Other / Meta / Re: How Can We Identify Someone Who Uses AI? on: May 03, 2024, 11:55:29 AM
Are you trying to say you use an App or something more to detect if a post is AI? Because I myself I can't seem to figure it out or identify an AI post by reading or looking at it... In what way can we find it suspicious before we conclude ? To b honest I don't think is 95% possible by looking at a post without running it to check, this is confusing you know.

It's mostly pretty evident. There is a general difference in tone between a text written by a human and a text written by an AI, and that tone stays even if someone tries to tweak their prompts and asks the AI model to write a text that should sound like a human has written it, the AI can't perfectly imitate the tone and the way of writing of a human.

Another notable thing is that an AI model will barely make any mistakes, punctuation, spelling, grammar, and even sentence structure will probably be perfectly accurate which makes it look a bit unreal, though I know there can be people having enough knowledge and experience to be able to do that without using an AI, you can't expect an absolute newbie to have that sort of perfection, right?

Last but not least, an AI language model will have a certain writing pattern. It will separate paragraphs, and start paragraphs with words such as However, Lastly, Additionally, etc.

Here is an example of a post that I feel is written by using an AI model: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5495149.msg64026270#msg64026270
72  Economy / Economics / Re: World price tag on every product. on: May 02, 2024, 07:41:17 PM
In rich countries there will still be poor people even though the level of poor people in rich countries is very different from poor people in poor countries or developing countries. Because in rich countries, the highest caste of rich people will also be measured by their own assets, so those who don't have many assets will also be said to be poor even though their lives still look quite comfortable. However, if you apply the same price for any product in different countries, this will still not be possible because apart from causing problems for the poor, it will also be more difficult for the sellers of the products themselves.

Why do you think that the poor in rich countries have a more comfortable life than the poor in poor countries? Is it only because they live on clean roads and pollution-free environments? Because other than that, I don't think a person having no money, no mood, and no home can lead a comfortable life.

I agree that a country that has a lower economy and is considered poor will have more people below the poverty level because the country in general isn't generating enough money to take good care of its people, but the poor in rich countries face similar things because even if shelters and people are helping the homeless and rich people, there are still a lot of them left in suffering. After all, the governments don't specifically take care of them one by one.

So as long as a poor person doesn't have a way to earn money, they will have to go through hardships no matter whether they live in a poor or rich country.
73  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Now that Bitcoin halving have been completed, what next? on: May 02, 2024, 03:52:57 PM
Halving will be basically the signal of bitcoin’s bull run which will surely turn a lot of people’s heads. Once there are more people interested, more brains will be thinking of ways to improve bitcoin or just other ways to take advantage of bitcoin.

To be honest right now we already have a lot of people working hard to innovate more features for technology and finance.

There will be more people interested in getting profits than the ones willing to make a change or do something positive for the community as a developer or contributor, besides, we have already seen what new innovations do with the network because we have seen the network getting heavily congested before and during the halving event and I don't think we would want to see any other innovation that would do the same with the network because it's making Bitcoin look bad.

Those who are always looking for opportunities to make Bitcoin look bad or negative get their opportunities when things like these happen because they then start comparing it with other cryptocurrencies with way lower transaction confirmation times and fees.
74  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do increased Bitcoin fees benefit anyone else except miners? on: April 30, 2024, 07:16:07 PM
My question is who do these high fees benefit?

Miners and third-party service providers such as centralized exchanges and casino platform because these platforms usually charge fees higher than the usual network fees, so if the fees are high, they tend to have increased fees for withdrawals in that particular asset, in this case, Bitcoin.

There are a couple of key points to consider: First, If miners can change Bitcoin to increase the fees is Bitcoin really decentralized? Second, and most importantly, do these increased fees help bitcoin to be a better form of digital cash?

Who said miners can increase the transaction fees? Miners have no other role in the network than confirming and mining blocks containing transactions. Bitcoin doesn't work on a PoS consensus where nodes with the highest stakes in the network get to govern the network and take part in certain decision-making.

About your second question, of course not, high fees would never help any asset to become a better form of digital cash because the general population would never want to use an asset that charges a lot of money in fess for making normal transactions.
75  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk features I've wondered about on: April 30, 2024, 03:00:01 PM
One thing I don't understand is that I see a couple of forums using SMF software as well like (altcointalks and Bitcoingarden) but the interfaces seems a little more appealing and “modern” compared to bitcointalk. Could this be more to do with customization, or just the different versions used?

I disagree with altcoinstalks being more appealing than bitcointalk despite it being a bit more "modern", and there are several reasons behind that.

Bitcointalk forum has a lot of features and modifications that make it way better than it is. Altcoinstalk doesn't even have proper placement of ads, and I was surprised to see that, to be honest. There are ads placed in between the posts in a thread looking just like a post, and I don't like that at all. Another thing is the post-writing interface which I know is adjustable but it would be more convenient to have a bigger space as a default to write your post just like we have it here.

It doesn't have features such as marking the creator of a thread/topic as OP and it makes it confusing when you are not on the first page of a thread which is a great feature we have in Bitcointalk.

I can go on and on but I think these points are enough, so, Bitcointalk is much better than any other Bitcoin or cryptocurrency forum out there.
76  Other / Meta / Re: ThemePen - Merit Source Application on: April 30, 2024, 01:28:50 PM
ThemePen is one of the most active members of the Pakistan local board and his contributions to his local board and the forum are evident if we look at his post and merit history. That being said, I believe he can be a great merit source if given the opportunity because he is generous, can find and merit constructive and quality posts as I have seen in our local thread/board, and on top of all, he is a good forum member as a whole.

Even though I understand that there are a lot of merit source applications still pending from users from various local and global boards, I support ThemePen's application and hope that theymos considers his application and grants him the status he is seeking.

Good luck, ThemePen.  Smiley
