601  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: cryptsy weekly drawings on: July 09, 2014, 01:43:59 AM
I dont think computers have the true ability to create random numbers.   Reminds me of years ago, I entered a grand draw and only bought 1 ticket but it was the very last ticket sold and yep I won the grand prize even though most other people were buying dozens of tickets; but I didnt complain ! :p  That was a 086 though, no doubt things are more complicated now but I think its a fundamental thing computers lack

Could also be that user was buying a heck of alot of tickets.

Both true lots of tickets and nothing computerized is truly random. However after reviewing the code he won fair and square.
602  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: cryptsy weekly drawings on: July 09, 2014, 12:26:05 AM
Heh 3 times same user drawed this is wrong im not belive this lotto drawing is for real or fair!
 Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry

We were quite surprised ourselves! I assure you we reexamined the code and added a new rule preventing the last week winner from entering again. It was legitimate though improbable.
603  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Least Goxable exchange? on: July 09, 2014, 12:23:55 AM
Cryptsy but I am a tad biased..... Being US based and subject to the scrutiny legally etc that we are keeps us in check.
604  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Am I crazy to verify identity with cryptsy? Social Security #? Driver's license? on: July 08, 2014, 11:54:52 PM
So is ssn required or not for usd deposit?

Clear this up for me.
This is the entire process listed below..... So no you do not submit your SSN#

605  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Am I crazy to verify identity with cryptsy? Social Security #? Driver's license? on: July 08, 2014, 11:13:53 PM
I trust Cryptsy enough to let them hold my alts and such. However, I would in no way trust them enough to give them my SSN. Even if they don't mean to do anything bad with it, hackers may. Trust others not only by their willingness, but also by their ability to remain secure.

We do not ask for anyone's SSN#
606  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin is officially dead on: July 08, 2014, 09:42:49 PM
The btc-e trollbox speculators look like dinosaurs now from ages ago. They discuss Litecoin and why it's falling ad nauseum without realizing that there is a whole new PoS world brewing two clicks away that btc-e didn't present to them Smiley

Well said.

Yea, BTC-E is just lagging behind, they are stuck in the past, and resist change.

Odd that they don't take the 1000's of bitcoin extra daily volume they would get by adding some new coins, no?

It is very odd, maybe their just too lazy to add new coins? They feel as if they get enough $ from already? Idk, but that exchange is becoming more of a mystery to me.

Carrying all the extra coins brings a ton of extra overhead and issues Smiley I am sure that plays a ton into it.
607  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Am I crazy to verify identity with cryptsy? Social Security #? Driver's license? on: July 08, 2014, 09:39:40 PM
Everything we ask for is required by law. We do not share or sell your personal information with 3rd parties. If your get really concerned can always drive to the office and pop in to check us out Smiley
608  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Cryptsy.com USD markets now open. Come trade with us today! US based. on: July 08, 2014, 09:36:54 PM
why verification needed to trade with usd?
I was also going to this question but already posted now waiting for reply from OP about this why verification is must for this

Its the Law simply put. If we did not the feds could seize funds etc etc. Much like Gox had their US accounts frozen back in the day.
Thanks for reply and clearing its mean now I am going to do verification of my account

Glad to clarify!
609  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: Withdrawing NXT? DON'T use Cryptsy! on: July 08, 2014, 11:57:55 AM
.....................

I looked through some old support tickets, and some people have been waiting over a month for their withdrawal.  That's just so unacceptable.  I'm really furious about it.  I did send in a support ticket, but I haven't heard from them yet. Angry

Others are waiting OVER 2 MONTH, and Cryptsy doesn't give a flying fuck........

@BitJohn. What about PHS withdrawals from MAI?? When should this issue be fixed?

PM me Ill hunt it down though its totally unrelated.
610  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: Withdrawing NXT? DON'T use Cryptsy! on: July 08, 2014, 11:57:11 AM
This issue should be fixed if your still having the problem PM me sorry for the inconvenience.

Nope.  It's not fixed yet.  No NXT anywhere.  I'll send a PM.

@Bizmark13--I wouldn't try to withdraw it.  I would sell it, transfer the balance to Bter and buy it.  Every exchange has problems, but this one is REALLY frustrating.  Or you could wait until they really have the problem fixed.   Undecided

Currently its a check though we will have more options in the near future such as ACH.

If we live local can we just come and pickup the checks instead of waiting on the mailman?

Mail service in south Florida is the worst.

haha Ill ask.... Not sure though kinda could muck up the process.

Crypsty has issues, but nothing that requires running to the Gov't. They are (until proven otherwise) a top-tier exchange and one of the only ones where your funds are probably safe, compared to ~98% of the other options.

Really ? These people do not give a flying fuck about us.

If this is allowed to happen, what else will we learn if/when they get audited ?

I am a Cryptsy admin now.

lolz if Horus is BigVern and/or BitJohn.

All different folks drive on down to Florida pop into the office and visit the other 30 employees Smiley Really pretty simply. We are the only exchange that is public and accessible in the scene really so trying to make us anonymous is well silly really.

Congrats on getting them opened. Pretty weak marketing though. Maybe you need to hire someone to handle that stuff for you.

Shouldn't there be a big banner on the home page bragging about it, or even some tweets in the feed and blog posts about USD/XXX? Even the about page hasn't been updated. No mention of it on the Cryptostocks listing either... and this was a the whole point of that offering.

Is Project Investors fully licensed in the USA now?

HAHA good catch Wink As far as the marketing we will hit it harder when we have more payment and deposit options in the US Smiley

I had to reset my password to enable 2FA today, and when I tried to withdraw the funds I'd sent via block #309615, the transaction never confirmed and just stayed at "pending" - despite the fact that it had only been 14 blocks since my deposit.  I contacted Cryptsy support to find that they locked my account for 24 hours due to the password change, despite the fact that nowhere on the site does it say this is the site policy.

I offered to supply all the necessary documentation required to prove my identity, but all I received was a curt "sorry, there's nothing we can do."

In a post-Gox world, you'd better do a hell of a lot more than that to prove your solvency.  So I also filed a report with the Florida attorney general's office because fuck this shit, I am not playing cute little games with these exchanges anymore.
A 24 hour password reset freeze is a good security measure. We are not the only exchange to employ it. Not sure what that has to do with this thread anyhow. Let me get this straight you are "filing a complaint" because we locked your funds for 24 hours for diligence? My bank once held funds for 45 days..... Best of luck to you.

So can you convert BTC to USD or is it just USD to BTC?

Both of course.
