Why do I get the nasty feeling that this Astana guy is going to come unhinged and kill someone?
Doubt it. It's the smallest dogs that bark the loudest.
It's the little ones that snap... The big guys usually only break when drugs are involved.

I wouldn't be surprised if he already has...

a woman named Benicta Richards just contacted me on a skype account that astana was the only person who knew off as a way of tracking things. This lady wantd to an moneypack to LR exchange. something I never do, and astana always asked about. So who know if it is the last Ive seen of him.

moneypak scam

When accepting MoneyPak for bitcoins...

  • Do so with trusted parties
  • Withdraw funds to a prepaid debit card (greendot)
  • Receive a scanned copy of all receipts and both sides of the MoneyPak itself*
  • Do NOT send bitcoins until you can confirm that you have received the funds into you Debit Card

I believe there is a waiting period for adding funds to Debit Card. Make sure that both you and the other party understand this. The person receiving bitcoins will have to wait.

Given the fact that it costs roughly 5 dollars to fill a MoneyPak, the larger the balance in it, the better the exchange rate for the sending party. This increases the potential of loss for both parties. If both parties take the right precautions, a new user should be able to purchase bitcoins with MoneyPaks. It is an extremely easy way for someone to turn cash in hand into bitcoins and I would not like to see it ruined by a few scammers.

*There have been occurrences where people have scammed Convenience Stores to receive filled MoneyPak codes over the phone. Having a scanned copy of both sides of the MoneyPak excludes you receiving stolen copies by this means.

So I can make a pdf book of this forum post for like $18.99 and get it sent to my door. I really want to. I would use mclovins post as my cover. OHHH. I would so do it because I can take a photo looking all "Writer like" and put it on the inside cover.

Just wait until it is locked, you don't want to have an incomplete set!

Are we to assume that he was in fact trolling? If that is the case I'm not sure what to think. I guess that is just a part of the trollercoaster.

Given the way Astana is acting... I only feel like doing business with shakaru more. I might even do it to spite him. Very entertaining thread. Cheesy
607  Economy / Services / Re: I will hurt myself for bitcoins! on: December 25, 2011, 03:52:43 AM
you should upload both vids and demand double since you did it twice with proof.... i do hope nobody really supports this, doing crazy dumb stuff like the shoe on the head thing is cool but the hurting yourself thing i don't like so much- i'd much rather see some crazy goofy shit rather than someone purposefully hurting themselves. I'll donate half a coin to something crazy that doesn't hurt you though I've no imagination for these types of things

I support the right for people to do what they wish to their bodies. I will pay for high quality or low quality, not both.
608  Economy / Services / Re: I will hurt myself for bitcoins! on: December 25, 2011, 02:54:26 AM
It'll get done. I'm just waiting on my friend (Who's not being very reliable.) I tried to do the stapler video today, but the quality sucks because I used my phone instead of my friends camera. I can still upload it if you want, boonies4u. But I'm going to redo it, anyways.

ouch, redoing it.

I'll wait for the high quality. I appreciate what (is it suffering or is it pleasure? ;3) you are willing to endure for the higher quality. I don't know if you consider this art, but some say someone should suffer for his/her art.
609  Economy / Services / Re: I will hurt myself for bitcoins! on: December 24, 2011, 04:50:34 AM
Will you purposefully hurt yourself for bitcoins? How much for let's say you slapping a stapler on your forearm or forcing a tack under your fingernail?
I'll do the stapler for .1 BTC. Or even .05 BTC. I've done it before, and it's pretty easy, actually.

Upload a video of you stapling your forearm and I will send you .05 BTC. I need to see the wound to know it wasn't faked.

I will pay an extra .05 for clear audio. Please don't stifle any reactions to stapling if you do audio.

I dont like where this is going...
shh... It'll be alright... Just go back to sleep.  Kiss
611  Economy / Services / Re: Buy Bitcoin with credit card on: December 23, 2011, 09:19:25 AM
There have been three recent entries into this market.  I did use the first two - until they stopped doing business.  The third appears to still be in business but I have not used them because they ask for too much information in order to process a credit card order:

http://www.mrcoins.org now "out of stock"
http://simplecoin.com having "technical difficulties"

http://www.klooch.com if anyone tries this let me know how it goes.  I am not willing to give them all the info they require at this time.

Just for the heck of it I tried to sign up for an account at http://buybitcoins.com and to my surprise it appeared to work.  Again I am not willing to give them the amount of information they request - and it kind of looked fishy since you enter your credit card info on an unsecured (http) page instead of a secured (https) page.  But again if anyone is willing to risk it let me know how it goes.

It's odd that the people who are unwilling to give the amount of info these sites are asking for are the only people i'm seeing talk about them.

They're asking for all of this info to deter chargebacks or at least have the necessary information to verify that the card was not stolen so they can go after the person issuing the chargeback.

Since you have revived an old thread - memorydealers will sell bitcoins with credit card:
http://www.memorydealers.com/bieq.html

Anyone have any news on when this will be available?

http://www.btcnow.net/ is what you're talking about.

btcnow.net starts pretty close to mtgox too

I wonder how long google will stand for this? lol
Also, anyone have any actual info on btcnow (as it is now)? No news is confusing news.

613  Other / Politics & Society / Re: The free market speaks! FDA-AVOIDED Dustberries! on: December 22, 2011, 06:55:51 PM
FDA just creates health moral hazard - people stop taking their food health choices into their own hands 'cuz government has their back. what a joke!

Those who would change freedom for security deserve neither freedom nor security and always end up losing both.

What is a "health moral hazard"?

But it isn't the consumers giving up their freedom, so why would they care about getting extra safety at the cost of some regulating industry existing?

The only person I have respect for is Yankie, he is a decent guy and delivers what he says he will. I can recommend him to anyone.

...watching.

I do some business with Astana, would like to see how this plays out.

And what do you think of Astana, Yankee? Would you recommend him?

http://techcores.com/2010/08/say-goodbye-to-inmotion-hosting/

Quote
Their legal support doesn’t listen. I contacted the legal support department at InMotion Hosting to ask them some clear and straightforward questions about one of the websites I’m starting up (which will not be hosted with them as of now) that would be hosted on their servers at the time, and they responded by saying this message, “InMotion Hosting is unable to offer legal advice. We recommend that you get in touch with a lawyer to get detailed answers to your questions.” If you ask me, that would be a failure on their part to read my original message that clearly stated I would be hosting it on their servers. I was not pleased at all with their response and when I replied back to their message, they never got back to me. I had to go through at least five support representatives to get the answer I needed after that. Their legal department needs to read the whole email and not glimpse through it. If I’m asking a serious legal question about my business with them, I expect a serious response back and not their failure to read the email I’ve sent.

Do we really need to get a lawyer to get them to respond? I hope they're improved since that article was made.

1) Science now allows us to avoid the need for ruminants via direct cultivation of vitamin B12 from bacteria, or synthesize it directly (probably more expensive)

2) Milk and eggs

Technically none of those are vegetables.
617  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin savings plan on: December 19, 2011, 06:04:36 AM
I'd say that 70 people responding to this poll so far shows how small the world of bitcoin users is.  Granted this is only one forum (and one subforum area), but we'll need many more people to get involved to keep it growing.  We'll see what 2012 brings!

618  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Accusations against shakaru on: December 18, 2011, 08:39:44 AM
Andrew you pathetic joke for a man, you conduct yourself like this no one will feel sorry you when you get what you deserve. You are akin to a cheat.

Your only doing this because you gave me a good deal, and want to make more money.

You're the one who is conducting his/herself poorly. A deal between you two went sour, I doubt the community at large cares... Unless there is evidence of chronic behavior (his, not yours). It sounds like you got your money back before you made the OP also.
619  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Only significant property owners should be allowed to vote. on: December 17, 2011, 12:36:30 AM
There aren't votes like these taking place in the United States government. No US politician is stupid enough to have a vote that might jeopardize their own seat.

Besides... killing is handled by the executive branch anyway.

If we want to start discussing the Bill of Rights and US Constitution, I think it should be held somewhere else.
620  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Stages of Bitcoin acceptance on: December 16, 2011, 05:14:33 PM
Stage 0: Trading Bitcoin as a commodity. Speculation will drive value to one or two orders of magnitude.
Stage 1: Social Networking will adapt Bitcoin for micropayments. Speculation will drive value to one or two orders of magnitude.
Stage 2: Commerce will embrace Bitcoin as an overlay mechanism, like Paypal. Speculation will drive value one or two orders of magnitude.
Stage 3: Bitcoin will replace local banking for businesses enjoying low fees. Local legislatures will officially recognize Bitcoin. Speculation peaks.
Stage 4: Nations will begin to decouple currencies and adapt Bitcoin.
Stage 5: Nations and corporations will merge as they lose their competitive advantage over decentralized enterprises.
Stage 6: National borders will dissolve as decentralized enterprises evolve into AI driven civilization planning.
Stage 7: Bitcoin will evolve into a scientific-method based algorithm using Asimovian principles.
Stage 8: Ebil robot zombies will eat our brains and conquer the Universe.

While i personally would love to see your stages come to pass (especially the zombie one) I do not think they will. Stage 0 is obviously already happening. Stage 1 however seems VERY unlikely, as long as social media is dominated by Facebook. Facebook is developing their own credit system, and have no reason whatsoever to accept bitcoins. As your whole plan really depends on stage 1 for launching, none of the other stages will come to pass either. Even if facebook is derailed by google+ or perhaps some other unknown player, what incentive would they have to allow bitcoins and not adopt their own version of facebook credits?

I thought about physical Bitcoin possibly added to Stage 1 to help boost acceptance to stage 2, but I'm not sure that they will get beyond collectors items. Getting Bitcoin out of the hands of geeks and on the streets will be tough.

Reverse mugging?
