601  Local / Deutsch (German) / Re: [Gewinnspiel] Welches ist der letzte Block in diesem Jahr? [BTC + Merit] on: October 18, 2023, 10:34:45 PM

Smiley
602  Local / Deutsch (German) / Re: Gute Beiträge, die Merit verdienen [AKTIV] on: October 18, 2023, 10:29:45 PM

Press conferance of a doctor in Gaza after hospital bombing. (verified image from Turkish Ministry of Health)
Could we please stop spreading unproven propaganda?
First, there is valid proof that the incident wasn't an israeli rocket fired on that hospital but instead a misfired rocket from a group close to Hamas, called Islamic Jihad. See my post here.
Second, there is valid proof that the Al Ahli Hospital didn't even got destroyed a tiny bit, just a parking lot nearby:

604  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: List of useful Bitcoin block explorers on: October 18, 2023, 09:46:50 PM
Done and it's a good idea to add it but most likely, the result won't be very representative because most votes are already submitted due to one vote for each Bitcointalk account. Maybe we can screenshot the poll, save it, reset it and start it again. We might run it 1 year (or 2 years) and will see how the public opinion has (possibly) shifted.

Seeing Woodie's suggestion made me realize that the poll contains 3 websites which were moved to the eliminated ones, therefore I believe they should not be part of the poll anymore: SmartBit, Coinmarketcap Block Explorer and Bitcoin.com.

Besides, if I remember well, this poll conatined initially all the explorers listed when OP was created. Since then many other websites were added. Perhaps the poll should contain now also the other explorers added?
It's a really difficult decision and maybe, our best solution is, if we do it like that:

First step: screenshot the current poll and save it (normal picture or even archive)
Second step: reset it and start it again, where we will add all current sites and remove inactive sites.

Because changing a bit of it now will invalidate the poll, when old votes are getting removed and some people already submitted their votes but would vote for new Blockexplorers now, instead.

And even if we do trading "right" (according to technical analysis), it's not a guarantee for any win. Because if we would have a trading program, which is trading exactly a technical analysis trading strategy, to generate profits, it simply doesn't exist. Because no (day) trading strategy is reliable long-term. We can make some profits due to luck but that doesn't mean that it's a reliable strategy.
If there would be a reliable trading strategy, someone would have coded an application already to make it an automated trading strategy - but such a technical analysis trading strategy doesn't exist.
Yes, this is a completely logical thought. But this is not understood by everyone because everyone is concerned about getting something instant.
That's why we have a nice, educational article about the topic now.  Smiley
Hopefully, many people will read our topic about the issue and be careful, when it comes to trading.

Thanks for your permission. this topic has been translated in my Bangali Language. you can review this here  Smiley - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=631891.msg63007012#msg63007012

607  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Propaganda during war: the masses are most time misinformed. on: October 18, 2023, 08:56:25 PM
Brainwashing has succeeded even with those who join humanitarian organizations and support human rights, making them justify their double standards to evaluate what is happening from an absolutely biased angle.
Yes, brainwashing has succeeded because Hamas achieved, that everyone believed their fake story, where Hamas accused Isreal for bombing the hopsital but it turned out that Hamas bombed their hospital themselves, most likely due to a misfiring.
Still, every Hamas clown is not updated, that the propaganda is busted:

Quote
Hamas immediately blamed Tuesday’s explosion at the Al Ahli Arab Hospital in Gaza City on Israel and claimed more than 500 people were killed in a heinous, targeted war crime.

But after an investigation and widespread protests in the Arab world, the Israel Defense Forces determined that the terror group’s Islamic Jihad arm was actually behind the disaster and had exaggerated the death toll in its attempts to frame it as an Israeli attack.

...

The IDF also released aerial footage of the hospital compound filmed Wednesday morning which does not show any of the impact that would have been caused by an Israeli missile.

It instead illustrates a lack of a large crater in the parking lot where the explosion occurred.

We now have video of the scene showing the explosion is from the parking lot and the buildings are in tact. There is no crater, no building demolished. This is inconsistent with the type of bomb many were suggesting yesterday.
Looks like the hospital wasn't even damaged much (if at all).

https://nypost.com/2023/10/18/all-of-the-evidence-that-shows-hamas-was-responsible-for-hospital-explosion/

The OSINT community confirmed this.

So, yes, Hamas in king in propaganda:

1. Near a hopsital, Hamas tries to fire a rocket on israeli territory
2. Rocket misfires and hits parking lot near own hospital
3. Hamas claims Isreal did this and Hamas claims 500 people died, but no proof for it
4. Pro-Hamas pawns like Kavelj22 on Bitcointalk are brainwashed and believe any Hamas propaganda instead of looking out for sufficient PROOF
5. The lie from Hamas is spreading everywhere
6. Profit

Hamas is really king in propaganda...

608  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Gaza and international law!! on: October 18, 2023, 08:27:50 PM
A few hours ago, the Israeli Defense Forces committed a new massacre in the Gaza Strip that exceeded all expectations. The forces bombed a hospital housing civilians fleeing the bombing, in addition to those injured as a result of the bombings. The targeting of the hospital left more than 600 dead, and the hospital administration confirmed that all of them were civilians.
How about checking sources first, instead of just trusting any claims from Hamas?  Roll Eyes
Because it turned out that the rocket was fired by Hamas itself and it crashed near the hospital, like the OSINT (Open Source Intelligence) community has confirmed:

That caused the explosion at a parking lot NEAR the hospital, not a rocket from Israel allegedly flying IN the hopsital.
There are even more irregularities in statements from Hamas:
- Hamas can't show any pictures of the alleged 500 dead civilians = it's very likely another lie from Hamas because if many people were killed, Hamas would spread the propaganda all over the place. But there are no pictures
- There are no rocket craters, as usual for rocket targets, another sign that a Hamas rocket misfired shortly after being launched near the hospital

It's summarized here, already reviewed by the OSINT community:
https://nypost.com/2023/10/18/all-of-the-evidence-that-shows-hamas-was-responsible-for-hospital-explosion/

According to the latest statistics, the death toll as a result of the continuous bombing for 12 days exceeded 3,000, in addition to an unspecified number of wounded and the complete destruction of the infrastructure of the entire northern Gaza Strip, which is already besieged, while preventing the entry of food and medical aid through all crossings leading to the Gaza Strip.
Sure, 3000 deaths, like the 500 deaths from the hospital, LOL.  Roll Eyes
Hamas has lost all credibility, therefore these numbers are 100% meaningless.
If someone dies, ask Hamas, why Hamas
- has incited the recent violence due to their massacre against israeli civilians, do you condem this?
- is using civilians as human shields to fabricate propaganda about deaths, while Hamas could have protected them

Hamas should come out and face Israel's army face to face. Of course Hamas won't do that because Hamas is scum hiding behind civilians.

There is no international law, there is only "power" in this world if you are strong enough to do whatever you want -- you will always get away with it, the human rights and all the rest of it are just pure propaganda to feed the average joe.
Turned out that the propaganda was from Hamas, trying to incite more hate in this ongoing conflict.
It's not just not helpful at all, it's also disgusting. A sane and educated person will check first, what happened and PROVE his claims. I want PROOF, not UNPROVEN accusations.
And even then, no one from these islamic extremists will apologize that the rocket was from Hamas, not from Israel.
All the extremist pawns (we have quite a bunch of the in Germany), will not apologize for spreading UNPROVEN lies to incite more hate.

As for the hospital blast, the Western media already has the plan to justify that given that the majority of their audiences are brainwashed, they could claim that this was done by Hamas on purpose or by mistake, they could also claim that Hamas was hiding rockets under that patients' beds, and those folks will happily accept the death of all those civilians and continue to send their hard-earned money in form of taxes to Israel
It would be nice to get some facts instead of unproven speculations that. Because it turned out that your claim aged like milk.  Cheesy
Of course, spreading hate is much easier for Hamas apologists that to face the truth.
And no, the only ones who are brainwashed here are the vast majority of Hamas apologists, for parroting any unproven pro Hamas propaganda...

Stop getting brainwashed from Hamas propaganda and find out, what really happened, backed up by proof.  Smiley

because somehow, they think that if Israel is gone, the next target will be their country, and surprisingly this is common western propaganda, because the Americans think the U.S will be next after Israel, and so do the French and the British and everyone else who supports Israel, it's like the Palestinians have some secret nuclear weapon which will deploy to erase the whole world and the only thing standing in the way of that magical bottom is Israel. Cheesy
I'm a very tolerant person but there's no doubt that all these Hamas supporters are not compatible with our German society. There's a small, extremist bunch, they reject any German societey norms. They behave like extremists and they are extremists.
They are trying to ignore the duty, that if you come to Germany, get offered a good social security, a good living standard, all the things, Germany has achieved, they need to be friendly and they need to accept the German culture. But instead, they are trying to reverse our German culture and engage in radical islamist behaviour.
They force their religious believs on others and if someone dares to criticize it, the critics will be massacred.
They don't accept the German culture and if we say them to do so, they will cause a massacre.
If their religion is critized, they will bomb the shit out of normal EU people.
They are fanatic.

Yes, after Israel is wiped off the map, which is the goal by extremist organizations like Hamas or Israel etc., EU and USA will be next.
We, in the west, are well advised to send this Hamas supporting scum right away, where it came from. There, these extremists can bomb themselves about their Allah bullshit, as it pleases them.
But not here in Germany.  Smiley

The hypocrisy of the West, their use of definitions and concepts only when things are going in their favor, is disgusting.
You mean the hypocrisy of Hamas, when Hamas needs to spread fake propaganda, when in reality, the rocket near the hospital came from Hamas?
And, why is Hamas firing rockets near the hospital?  Huh
Maybe using civilians as human shields again?
Nah, Hamas are the good guys...  Roll Eyes

Hamas is disgusting scum and pawns like we have quite a few here on Bitcointalk are fooled too easily into spreading such disgusting Hamas propaganda.
Like now, all the news are out, where everyone claimed, Israel bombed a hospital and killed 500 people but the rocket was fired by Hamas.

Question all the propaganda, wait if any claims from any side are PROVEN, check it yourself and stop spreading UNPROVEN propaganda. Hamas is a terrorist organization and tries to incite a mayor war, where Hisbollah, the terrorist regime in Iran and some other islamist idiots will try to incite a big war.
We don't need such crap.

It's Race Week meaning the Exclusive F1 Prediction Contest is LIVE @ Sportsbet.io 🏎️🏁 United States Grand Prix 🏁🏎️ Prediction Contest

I like this new format a lot better.
+1
It's much more exciting to make a prediction, where we'll have more nuances to predict even if Verstappen dominates again.
Like Alonso Top 6 or Piastri podium.

Well that is one problem with the actual F1, you cant cut so much points in one race or in a few because, some positions are well know before the race, for example the winner and the pole sitter. Also we already know the 90% of the drivers who are gonna score points.
It just takes a big turn 1 crash, where several top teams are involved it and we'll have a surprising result.
Probably Austin is such a race, where a big turn 1 crash can happen but maybe Brazil (due to rain) is also a chance to have some position changes in our prediction contest.
You are right, that past races have been very similar (Verstappen win, top 10 positions 90% set) and only podium spots have been changing...

The user in question is promoting/wearing a gamble related signature but advising others through his reply not to gamble, isn't that contradicting what he's advertising. Join a campaign you agree with don't join just because of payouts.

611  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Are arrogant wannabe script kiddies still a problem for Bitcoin? on: October 18, 2023, 12:53:57 AM
Of course, still many people don't know about it and making aware of it is definitely very beneficial to prevent such accidents.
It's always about due diligence.

Due diligence is the name of the game when it comes to cryptocurrencies.
Very important point.
And coming back to the core message of our topic: checking a team behind a cryptocurrency is very important, especially coders and Blockchain developers. (Some people will object now: "ohh, in Shitcoin business, marketing is most important, by far" - And probably they are right - but only because it's a shitcoin, where marketing is trying to hide technical flaws  Cheesy)
Of course, for serious coins we should remember: No experienced team = 100% trash coin. A knowledgeable team is key

And (not) surprisingly, Bitcoin has by far the most experienced development team.  Wink
612  Local / Deutsch (German) / Re: [Gewinnspiel] Welches ist der letzte Block in diesem Jahr? [BTC + Merit] on: October 18, 2023, 12:39:18 AM

614  Other / Meta / Re: Campaign to improve posting quality for local boards on: October 18, 2023, 12:11:14 AM
I totally agree with your point about the necessity to keep the language "clean".
My intention is not really about keeping it "clean", it's more like keeping it "sane" ( = a language which is nice to speak / write).
I've no problems with new words being derived from other languages if there's no common translation available (yet). This has happened in the past and will keep happening. The only thing we should avoid is any excessive influence, like English is currently the most dangerous language. I can remember that France has an official association in place to do this job to keep too many English words in check.

The first one is worse for me, and it lies in Surzhyk, as we call it in Ukraine. When grammar rules, phonetic features, sentence construction structure from two or three different languages are mixed. When the words of one language are pronounced in the manner of another, with intonation, stress, characteristic of another language. It sounds terrible, unnatural, illiterate and disgusting. We have a lot of this in Ukraine, because the Russian language and culture were planted here for centuries, and people forgot their Ukrainian language because of this. I believe that what you mean by Denglisch is closer to Surzhyk, and I can not agree more that thees phenomena must be erased from any language.
Okay, I don't know this for German maybe it's because Ukrainian and Russian are very similar.
But interesting story.  Cheesy

However, I also can think about the second case. When some of the words from another language are "borrowed" and begin be used in other one. For example, such words as selfie, smartphone, like, laptop are commonly used in Ukrainian language.
...
And it is impossible to stay aside, not for the separate person, nor cultures. There are no more separate, authentic, closed cultures and languages, because the impact of globalization is very visible and strong.
This has happened in the past as well and for German, some words are derived from French, for example and also for words, where no German word existed before. This is totally acceptable, if there's no direct German translation possible, considered that these words are now pronounced in a German way, that they get common in our language and such cases are enriching our language because such a word didn't exist in our language before.
Like you've said: Selfie, Smartphone or Laptop (all words capitalized as we are writing German) are words, where we don't have an appropriate translation in German as well. Maybe there will be one at some point but there's no one yet.

So, a simple rule regarding unnecessary Denglish: if there's a (common) german word existing, we should choose it of course. If there's no (common) German word existing it might be appropriate to "borrow" a foreign word, if it's fitting into the German language and can't be translated in a common way. For example, for "Blockchain", we don't say "Blockkette" (which would be a currently non-existant translation, still people would understand it but it's not common).
It might change but I wouldn't call "Laptop", "Blockchain" etc. to be "unnecessary Denglish" right now.  Smiley
615  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Trade vs. HODL - avoid traps on: October 17, 2023, 01:10:08 AM
Trading is a technical thing which is very difficult to do successfully and make a profit because there are many coins in the market, so it is the job of a professional trader to analyze when to pump which coin among them and this work is not possible for everyone. And this is why most traders lose while trading.

Only HODL or any other strategy based on economic growth - or Bitcoin's scarcity - is a (relatively) reliable strategy. But HODL is not related to (day) trading based on technical analysis, HODL is based on Bitcoin's fundamentals (scarcity).  Smiley

I like @1miau points and they are very important so I want to translate it to my local Bengali language and inform my community about them.
@1miau I ask your permission
Of course, you can translate my topic for our local Bengali board because I believe "Trading vs. HODL" is a very important topic to be aware of.  Smiley
616  Other / Meta / Re: Campaign to improve posting quality for local boards on: October 17, 2023, 12:43:26 AM
Here is why I think that: I'm a Bangla speaker, which is my native language.
That's a great explanation and Learn Bitcoin (who's also from our Bengali local board) told me the same, that Bangla language isn't really a historical native language because it originated from many sources, for example from England's rule in that part of the world and Bengali was heavily influenced from it. But you already did a great job here explaining it.
That's where German and the Bengali language are very different.

I'm judging "Denglish" or GazetaBitcoin "Romglish" (Romanian + English) from the following viewpoint:

In German, we have a lot of words, even many words for the same thing, sometimes a little bit different meaning (just nuances). So, in Germany we have these words but often, someone wants to be "cool" because he's using English words instead of German ones, while there ARE plenty of German words to express exactly, what he's wanting to say.

And if we don't apply these words, our original language might go extinct and get replaced by a horrible gibberish, where our native language gets less words every time because words are replaced by a different language all the time and it's a big pity for our native language.
As someone, who's well aware that in German, many people don't apply our native language correctly, I have "avoiding Denglish / applying our language properly" as my Merit criteria to make aware to avoid eroding our own language.
Because once a word is replaced, such words are lost in our language and it's very sad in my opinion

So, we can see, it seems to be really very different for our languages.  Smiley

OP, humble request add mempool to the pool if possible Cool
Done and it's a good idea to add it but most likely, the result won't be very representative because most votes are already submitted due to one vote for each Bitcointalk account. Maybe we can screenshot the poll, save it, reset it and start it again. We might run it 1 year (or 2 years) and will see how the public opinion has (possibly) shifted.

I see Blockchair.com is winning the poll race , but if we are to introduce mempool to the race I honestly don't see Blockchair winning by the huge margin it's enjoying as am aware most of us today use mempool for the extra technical and visual details available to Bitcoin enthusiasts.
Well, I have to admit that I'm more a friend of Jochen Hoenicke's mempool: https://jochen-hoenicke.de/queue/#BTC,24h,weight
I don't know why exactly but somehow, the colors for Jochen Hoenicke's version are somehow more appealing; I've never really liked the layout of mempool.space's mempool visualisation.  Cheesy
And we can switch off some of the lower fees on Jochen Hoenicke's version by simply clicking on the numbers in the sidebar. That helps a lot, when tons of low value transactions are spammend in the mempool because it's increasing visibility.  Smiley

Lips sealed

Apologies for my delayed intervention here. I was out of the country and I had only my phone with me, thus it would be very difficult to post long / complex posts.
No problem, it's 100% even if it takes 2 weeks or more.  Smiley

All these changes are now implemented in the Romanian translated table and as well in the old table.
+1

@1miau I have also 2 suggestions:

- can you add the comment of cryptoID to the old table as well? (I added it to the Romanian old table)
Nice suggestion, I've added it.

- Learnmeabitcoin, CoinCap and Localbitcoinschain.com should be deleted also from the old table (I deleted them already from the Romanian old table)
It's deleted now.

- in the new table should we add a reference for Learnmeabitcoin, CoinCap and Localbitcoinschain.com regarding the moment when they were deleted, similar to the other deleted websites? E.g.: Bitcoinchain.com appears like this: "Bitcoinchain.com (Removed 9/2022)"
Very good detection. (igel eyes  Cheesy)
For consistency, adding a date here, like all entries so far, is very important, of course.
I've added a date now.  Smiley

I hope this helps Smiley
Of course, it helped a lot.  Smiley
