201  Economy / Speculation / Re: BitcoinETF approval will possibly cause much bigger jump than most people expect on: January 08, 2024, 11:23:25 PM
What is clear and I understand about the bitcoin ETF is that;

If bitcoin ETF gets approved - Bitcoin will be bullish as a result of the approval by SEC but not sure how long it will stay like that. Maybe we going to experience a double bullish trend, one from the approval and the second from the bull run market expected to take place.
An ETF would pave the way for much more money to come into Bitcoin, so I expect a steady flow of money into Bitcoin after ETF approval. Some investors will maybe wait a bit until investing money in Bitcoin ETF's but long-term more people will join.
And maybe it'll help Bitcoin to become less volatile.

If bitcoin ETF gets rejected- Bitcoin will eventually experience a decline but will get back to its bullish form after a short term because the market is currently on a bullish trajectory.
Even if it's delayed (and a delay is unlikely), an ETF will be approved sooner or later. Possibly BlackRock and Co. have already purchased some nice BTC before the recent price increase.  Wink
202  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [Guide] How to create your customized Bitcoin-Address (vanitygen) – step by step on: January 08, 2024, 11:08:56 PM
Good day sir,
I want to let you know that I have translated this topic https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5096373.0 to my local board naija, here is the link to my translation https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5480793.msg63461147#msg63461147
Thanks for giving me the opportunity for the translation,
Hello, dear Chilwell  Smiley

Many thanks for providing a translation here, it's a very technical topic but I believe it can be interesting at least to know about the existence of such customized "vanity addresses".
I've added your translation to my list:

Nigeria (Naija)Chilwell[Guide]How you go create your customized Bitcoin-Address (vanitygen)–stepbystep

Your guide is not complete 1meow, there are options to also generate vanity checksum for the address, it would be the last 6 characters of the address, you could also select any char position, something like second char to be hand picked, 5th char, 11th char etc, you could also set prefix and a few chars of checksum for the search.
There are various options for everything. If you want to start doing something useful, feel free to create an additional guide about it.
203  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: NAIJA BOARD 2023 ART CONTEST 24th DEC --- 31st on: January 08, 2024, 10:57:15 PM
I just want to disclose that I went that I went through this thread and sent smerits to each member who participated, and mostly based on 1miau's recommendation - however, I have trouble with my own abilities to figure out if the submissions were following the rules - especially in regards to not being AI generated, and so I am less excited about having had participated in sending smerits in this contest as compared with other past contests..
Definitely, AI cheating shouldn't be rewarded.
I'm not an AI checking expert and I didn't check each picture by a checking tool but most AI pictures are still somehow easy to spot. Of course, I agree: AI is improving very quickly.
That's why I only gave 1 Merit away because even if a participant tried AI cheating, 1 Merit wouldn't be a huge reward for AI cheating.
And of course, AI cheaters will get busted sooner or later.

One of our judges actually did a scan of all the art entries and came back with a result of zero AI generated arts.
Nice to know, such effort is highly appreciated to have check all submissions if abuse via KI has happened.  Smiley
And nice to see your local board is very honest.  Smiley
204  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: [ NAIJA BOARD PIDGIN TRANLATIONS ] on: January 08, 2024, 10:41:06 PM
Well I guess that's a reason why updating these old threads might be cumbersome. Since creation of your thread in. 2019, of which you used version 3.3.8, there's has been over 30 new release. Now we currently have version 4.5.0 Although not all versions had much changes, some features were removed, hidden or upgraded. Going through you topic, electrum was just a demonstration on how to select specific fee rate. So don't stress it, if it would be cubersome for you changing those old images. Thanks ones again for your response and concerns in our local board.
Yes, Electrum is bringing new versions frequently. And while I believe, an active development is very important for a good wallet like Electrum, it's also very difficult for guides because pictures are getting outdated soon.
When I'm at it, I might take a look at it.
Meanwhile, maybe we can add a disclaimer such like:

"Due to Electrum's frequent updates, new versions might look different from our guide. Please keep in mind, when doing a transaction."

??

I guess if there's an award for best merit source you will definitely have a lot of fans from nija local board Grin you are doing well checking up on us.
Yaay, it's really nice to hear such nice compliments.
//blushing

But currently, I'm out of source sMerit, unfortunately.  Cry

How I wish you were appointed as a merit source for this local board lol Lips sealed
Merit sources are not limited to any board, so I can distribute a few Merits here easily.  Smiley

It's a really technical topic, so KUDOS for translating it.
I'll approve it tomorrow, when I can find some time.  Smiley

207  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Blockchain vs Platform vs Chain on: January 07, 2024, 10:54:52 PM
It's sometimes very confusing but learning a few basics will help you to understand it better.
I've written a summary about it here: Important to know: Difference Coin / Token and shady marketing practices

Manly comparing Coin vs. Token but I'm sure it'll be a helpful topic for you.  Smiley
In general, there are only Coins and Tokens, most labels on top are just misleading Shitcoin marketing.

If possible, maybe you can still edit your post here to remove your pyramid quote.
And maybe the topic about pyramid quotes is also an interesting one for translation to your local board.  Smiley

Your effort is much appreciated to arrange such a contest and also kudos to our judges for reviewing all submissions.

I've suggested your contest and submissions in LoyceV's  report to Merit source topic as eligible for an additional reward, hopefully we'll have a positive result.  Smiley
Maybe you can link all winning submissions in your OP, that it's easy for viewers to see which submissions have won?
210  Economy / Reputation / Re: [self-moderated] Report unmerited good posts to Merit Source on: January 06, 2024, 06:44:20 PM
Few days ago, Mia Chloe organized an Art Contest in Bitcointalk’s Nigerian local board. Some nice Artworks were submitted and yesterday, the jury announced all winners.
If any Merit source has some source sMerit left, maybe it’s an option for you to have a look at all submissions and distribute some Merit if you’d like.  Smiley

Sorry for the late announcement. There were lots of nice artworks  here in this contest and some judges didn't  give their scores on time.
The winners are;
  • 1st; Stable090
  • 2nd; Amphenomenon
  • 3rd ; uchegod-21
Congratulations as well!
Good job and it's nice to see how many submissions we've got here.

To reward everyone else for their effort, I've given 1 Merit each in addition.  Smiley
If I've missed someone, plz reply here and you can link your submission.

I don't know if it is necessary to alert @ legendary 1miau that the contest has ended in other for him to redeem his promise of rewarding the winners ×2 of the merits dedicated to winners of this contest?
I don't have any reminder bot like Telegram but I'm trying to check in here regularly to see when we are having final results.  Smiley
Merits are processed now.

Smiley

+1 for your translation.
Probably, an upcoming bull market (hopefully) will show how helpful my topic can be, if anyone achieved to HODL so far.
But taking profits at prices of, let's say 75k USD + can be an option as well, also depending on our situation, for example, if we need some money.  Smiley

215  Local / Deutsch (German) / Re: [Gewinnspiel] Welches ist der letzte Block in diesem Jahr? [BTC + Merit] on: January 05, 2024, 09:30:09 PM

216  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why do we spam on: January 05, 2024, 09:25:31 PM
After Merit dealt a huge blow to spammers, spamming is still a considerable problem of Bitcointalk, of course.
Main problem are signature campaigns due to paid sigspam and also paid shilling / bumping to a lesser extent because it's not really profitable.
Most spam occurs on our Gambling section nowadays but it's not limited to certain sections.

As said in previous replies, "natural spamming" can be a problem as well because spammers can customize each spampost to optimize viewcount.
Examples are fake translations, or similar.
Another issue are trolls, recent examples are the disgusting troll digaran, because he's just here to commit abusive trolling, derailing normal topics with his bullshit, his brazen lies, his malicious intent to divide the community or even spewing hate against valuable forum members like Poker Player, GazetaBitcoin, JollyGood or me (1miau). With such trolls like digaran, they are a massive disgrace and danger for Bitcointalk.
Same like shitposters, who have opposed my campaigns to create more awareness about writing quality posts.  Cheesy
Or jvanname, a retarded impersonator, whose defamations are completely inappropriate and he's creating new, useless topics every day.

After all, spamming and trolling is usually a true internet problem but hopefully, moderators will do their job and go against spammers and trolls, while sane members will always outnumber these abusers and the focus is clearly on creating quality content.
Merit was a good step into that direction, maybe a de-merit function would be helpful as well.  Smiley

After all, Bitcointalk will only stay relevant if we can offer quality content to attract readers and visitors, also from Google search etc.  Smiley
217  Local / Trading und Spekulation / Re: Bitcoin vs. Alts 2023 on: January 05, 2024, 08:18:31 PM
Smiley
218  Local / Trading und Spekulation / Re: Bitcoin vs. Alts 2023 on: January 04, 2024, 09:39:42 PM

Cheesy
219  Local / Anfänger und Hilfe / Re: Ist "diversifizieren" in mehrere Kryptowährungen wirklich sinnvoll? on: January 03, 2024, 10:14:45 PM
Smiley
Also die Liste hier: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5199920.60
