Killyou, stop.....take a breath.  This is how most every transaction goes:

You make a deal with you, the buyer, and escrow in a pm
Buyer agrees
Escrow gives a btc address to buyer
Buyer sends btc to escrow
escrow confirms payment
You send product to buyer
Buyer gets product and alerts escrow
escrow sends btc to you

This is the basic norm of business here.  Anything other then that is suspicious, and not of the "normal".

Hope this helps

yes but see I do not see a point in using escrow because than I am relying on the honesty of the buyer.

I am going to be using this type of escrow for my trades

you send btc to escrow
I send coins to escrow
escrow reships coins
escrow releases btc

I guess this is possible ^ assuming the escrowing person wants to reship the coins.

Not to mention who bears the cost of the double shipping costs? You? The buyer? Both?
602  Economy / Collectibles / Re: New Bitcoin COLD HARD CASH by the makers of New Liberty Dollar on: December 28, 2016, 01:04:48 AM

Bernard von NotHaus is not involved.
The article headline is misleading, the lower court case for him is not yet settled, he has not been sentenced and has a motion before the court for acquittal.
We would maintain that he is not guilty of any current law, and innocent of any wrongdoing, and that the prosecution has not proved their case, but the jury was bamboozled.  Hopefully justice will prevail.

He has suffered much at the misguided efforts of the federal prosecution, we wish him well.

For those that did not hear the resolution of the Liberty Dollar case.

The judge did not overrule the conviction handed down by the jury.  What the judge did instead is essentially nullify the penalty in the sentencing.

It seems that Judge Voorhees was utterly convinced of Bernard Von Nothaus's innocence.  However if he overruled the jury verdict (as is his right as the 13th juror.  The prosecution did not prove their case on any of the counts.  There was no intent to defraud, no intent to conspire, nor to counterfiet.  There were in fact no victims either of any fraud nor counterfeiting nor conspiracy.  Despite the charges not being proved by the prosecution, the jury was overwhelmed by the show of force of the prosecution with FBI, Secret Service, and very expensive prosecution lawyers (especially when compared to the lawyers provided to BvNH after all his wealth was seized by the government and could not afford to pay for more).

So instead of overruling the jury, which would have resulted in an appeal, perhaps a new trial, and likely another decade of litigation taking what is left of BvNH's life time, the judge split the baby by cutting the sentence to nil.

BvNH and all the customers with gold and silver in custody were awarded their metal back.
No prison time served.

Basically, free to go without any penalty other than the conviction on his record.

The entire process was a great travesty of justice, and abuse of power for political reasons.  A private business was punished due to the free speech of its founder who advocated for the National Organization for the Repeal of the Federal Reserve Act (NORFED).
For saying the same things that many senators and representatives also say, a private citizen's life and legacy were destroyed.

Fortunately he is back in business and as dangerous as ever.
Now he is exercising his free speech with a "Trump Dollar" in gold, silver and copper.
It was released during the 2016 primary season long before Donald Trump was even the nominee.

https://www.trumpdollar.us/

I am not involved in this, other than as an admirer of Bernard's artistry, but it seems to have had some success.

Thank you for sharing this.

I was unaware of the current standing of the case.

Just goes to show that power corrupts absolutely. Those in power do not want to see competing currencies and therefore resort to underhanded tactics.

603  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [Auction] Bitcoin Knife - The cutting edge of money - 1/20 on: December 24, 2016, 06:22:58 AM
There is no way to claim or verify that even if you were the first buyer and I find it entirely misleading.

moonrock

The first buyers can be identified here in the prototype thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=941287.0

The prototypes were also featured in the below article and picture.

http://digitalmoneytimes.com/the-cutting-edge-of-money-limited-edition-bitcoin-knives-up-for-sale/

I own one of the prototypes.

This was due to the fact that the seller had taken my order on their site at the same time another user bought them out. even though the site said they were still in stock

If anyone is interested in the prototype version let me know.

Sorry OP for hijacking your thread.

9800$ for historical 3 is not so much. Why so bearish, master?

Probably because he is trying to be conservative
605  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Tell me (again) that ETH is not manipulated by the whales on: December 22, 2016, 03:28:06 PM
In order to say such a thing perhaps you should clearly define what a whale is.

Otherwise someone with 1 btc, 10 btc, or 100 btc could be a whale.

It's all in your perspective.

Markets gonna market, speculators gonna speculate, manipulators gonna manipulate.
606  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - A secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency on: December 22, 2016, 02:44:39 PM
OMG, you guys.... srsly? LOL

I never said/meant anything at all like what you're saying I said. My only point was simply that *maybe* BTC won't end up being the final crypto that "wins"!

Everything else that both you guys say elsewhere appears to agree with that, right?  After all, isn't this usually a large reason why *anyone* gets interested in XMR (or other alts) in the first place?  So... WTF really?

Geez, so sorry that I "insulted" Greg, your hero, or something I guess.  LOL

Methinks (still) The Ladies Doth Protest Too Much...  Tongue

P.S. {Edit} Go ahead and reply more if y'all want but this is stupid & I ain't gonna play any more anyway.  Whatever  Kiss

You said "Maxwell is *killing* bitcoin."

That's the same thing as a Bitcoin Obituary.

Own it.

And BTW, and eyeroll emoji is hardly "overreacting" or "protesting too much" but by all means continue characterizing as somehow inappropriate my disputation of your doom-mongering if that helps you cope with the unbearable 1MB status quo.   Wink

609  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [FREE] Monero Brass Coin Giveaway on: December 22, 2016, 12:19:06 PM
Thanks for confirming when you get the coin.

As promised there was a rather large batch of international giveaways that went out a few days ago.

I had to drop off the box of them and leave it with USPS and it took them 5-6 hours to handle with a single person working on them.

Glad I didn't have to stand there for all of that.
610  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin have just dropped $20 in less than an hour. What happened ? on: December 22, 2016, 12:13:55 PM
Threads like this are pretty much useless.

Why not ask why the price moves $2 if you will ask why it moves $20?

Markets gonna market....nothing more.

Almost one week now running the bot to check for balances on these keys.  No luck yet.  Pretty hard to believe because my bot can scan fast.  Embarrassed

Well, it's been running for about two weeks now.  It is pretty efficient for sure.  But, I've got no luck yet.  I've gone through 10000s of pages of addresses.  None seem to have any balances.  I've actually set up 3 old computers to each run the bot.  So now I am going at 3X speed from last week.  I am looking on EBAY for cheap computers.  Maybe I'll get between about 5 - 10 more scanning the keys.  It a 'RawDog form of mining'!

Wish me luck!

Yeah GOOD LUCK

Good luck finding any addresses that have a balances of bitcoin.

You've been proven time and time again to be a clueless troll who claims to know what he is talking about when it comes to bitcoin.

Troll on and please waste your money on trying to find addresses with BTC in it.

We will all be here to revisit this thread over the months and years to come to laugh at you.

 Cheesy

Hey Rawdog,

So how's the search going?  Cheesy
614  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin reached $800! on: December 21, 2016, 04:16:23 AM
You have all lost your minds.

Fiat currency is a debt note.

Debt is for slaves and you love pricing your beloved asset in debt notes.

Every time you celebrate this you are celebrating the slavery to the system but you can't see it.

The more the BTC bot moves up the bids the more excited you get.

You have been hoodwinked and the IRS is waiting for you on the other side.

THIS IS CALLED SELLING OUT.

Or one could say they are celebrating the death of the fiat monetary system with another superior system.

But please, tell us what we are thinking and feeling.  Tongue
615  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: December 20, 2016, 11:39:53 PM
So I really want to buy into Monero, but BTC seems to keep slowly climbing today.
Anyone got predictions on where Bitcoin will top or Monero will bottom?

Bitcoin will top between $800 and $1000 for now

Monero 0.0105 and 0.008

 Tongue

But who knows...?
616  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: December 17, 2016, 03:41:55 AM
@dEBRUYNE & @MoneroMooo

Cool... thanks for those.  Totally don't grok what any of that info's about, LOL but cool to play with anyway Cheesy

So, just as a test using the info on the slip of paper that Smoothie included with the coin, here's what I got:

Smoothie had the example "Base64" text to print in the circle on paper, to cut out and insert under the hologram sticker, like this...

iOLI
b6/Kukeg
h23tC8Prlo
9OC0GF8mgn
djeI9ike
dji=

...which I had to use a jeweler's loupe to actually READ, LOL... my eye's gettin' old, man... heh

Anyway, that's...

iOLIb6/Kukegh23tC8Prlo9OC0GF8mgndjeI9ikedji=

...which I then used http://kjur.github.io/jsjws/tool_b64udec.html online to convert to...

88e2c86fafcaba47a0876ded0bc3eb968f4e0b4185f26827763788f6291e7638

...which then using luigi1111's tool, above, yielded valid Monero Address...

49cfLx1LyTK6JgUYtqSZszckGP3S8nVYLAwU4dZJUc5ZRajBUT7tGfB41cBHMxJEwfcjFmLegFypy6Z U6wDNsJcDHNwJnh2

...and SEED WORDS...

sipped bugs needed biscuit feline neither dads sulking saga anchor safety geyser patio hounded peaches juvenile moisture radar oncoming agnostic yawning teeming budget gone radar

...which worked fine on MyMonero but (of course) didn't show any balance currently or transaction history.

So... bottom line?  Smoothie, if you're reading this and you remember what address that example text on your little instruction sheet came from, maybe confirm that it's all correct and I successfully reverted back here, from the shorter simple Base64 all the way to seed words?

Pretty cool, if so.  Good system Smiley

Just wanna practice this a couple more times before actually putting any XMR onto the coin, permanently.

Just 'cuz after all, y'know, 5 XMR going to this little fun "throwaway" coin just to play with today, may be worth equivalent of $5,000,000 purchasing power for my future grandchildren some day, LOL

P.S. {Edit} Hmm... maybe spoke too soon?  Slight quirk apparently, I didn't look closely enough before, but just now I noticed that using those seed words to log in to MyMonero shows *different* address, in fact:

Account Address (Public)
49cfLx1LyTK6JgUYtqSZszckGP3S8nVYLAwU4dZJUc5ZRZ3acjTyx3rFjnZjptwjPDWEnMuQa2wW852 NUKSeQMWMRNMDHoy

View Key (Private)

c166e75860a1833f1db1860470d54e588f4e0b4185f26827763788f6291e7608

IS this still "the same" however, so if XMR was sent to this it would still work...?  Or...?  Hmm...

Honestly, I took a pre-created sample private spend key and modified it (just because). So I wouldn't know the address or view key.

This is good that you are playing around with it and testing it. As I've indicated in the instructions you should create/generate your own keys to test with prior to sending any amounts to the address.

Proceed with caution.  Smiley

Any news on when the Q1 GUI project is going to be completed. Eagerly waiting for it.... Hoping it by January or early..

I was very wrong at all kind of Crypto speculations. But I give tiny chances that GUI will be out after 5th January.

the gui is likely already priced in
xmr is a nice project ,my only worry is so many other coins are coming to the party
with privacy features ......
hopefully the XMr network effect will be too strong.......

Really, any already announced features have already been priced in by the market...

In my opinion it is not even possible to price in GUI. You see, there are people who are refusing to buy Moneros before they can store them in a safe and sound manner. Therefore, once the wallet is out, they can buy into Monero.
That being said, this can create a speculative bubble and drive the price of Monero literally nuts like we have never seen before.

The GUI will be no more secure than running the wallet from command line. Strong passphrase is essential but Monero could really use adoption by Trezor or Ledger. Ledger is more likely as they have more manpower than Trezor and btchip has already mentioned he is interested. Monero app is not on Ledger's public roadmap yet though. GUI is nice yes but using command line is not really a bother. Paper wallets have a point of failure when you have to import private keys to spend.

Am I wrong in this assumption below?...

Couldn't you just import it to an offline computer, sign a transaction and then export the raw transaction and have that broadcast to the network?

That is how it is done in bitcoin (one such way).

you will only receive it if your local wallet is fully synchronized.

You can check it by entering the command "status" in the daemon terminal window.

The output, if fully synchronized, will look like this

Code:
Height: 1199671/1199671 (100.0%) on mainnet, not mining, net hash 36.03 MH/s, v3 (next fork in 29.0 days), up to date, 8+0 connections

(the height will be different obviously, this is a snapshot at the time of writing]
Well, it will take ages to sync local wallet, as it needs 12GB to download.
I was using LightWallet and synced it from block 1,110,000
and saw 0 in my balance.
there is no cammand windows on lightwallet by the way..

Guys, how to find that 5 XMR? should i run full node and wait it to download full blockchain?
i could generate new wallet from private keys and sync it from the genesis block

Yes
